This is a convenient grilling accessory that can be stored in the grill due to the removable handle. Excellent results with fish and veggies. Very easy to clean Teflon. Will be used often when we are finally outta here cruising. By all means escape ASAP but not without one of these.

Uh oh....had to edit review down to two stars after some use of it.

The Teflon completely burned off. We had used it about 6-8 times. Also, it warped from the heat.

We keep the heat as low a setting as it will allow. Water spray bottle continuously....to cool, which is a nuisance.

This is not working out favorably. Grill is less than a year old.

Taylor Weekend Warrior Grill /Smoker Thermometer Review

I bought two of these thermometers to modify my Char-Griller Smokin' Pro. Anyone who's used that particular smoker will tell you that it has very uneven heating without any modification, and the single centrally-mounted thermometer is just about worthless for smoking in the unit. A popular modification of the smoker is to mount two of these to the hood of the grill at grate level one on the left and one on the right. This will tell you the temperature at the grate on both sides of the grill.

I double-checked the thermometers with a probe thermometer poked into the chamber around grate level and they all matched up quite nicely...and were completely different from the piece of junk thermometer that came with the grill. Cooked a 16 pound beef brisket on the grill after installing these and it came out perfectly. Had a much harder time doing that without proper thermometers.

These thermometers are very large. In my case that's a good thing a big dial is easy to read at a distance, which means less baby-sitting the smoker. I was using the thermometers at night but we had lights rigged up so I can't vouch for how well the glow-in-the-dark dial works.

Edit: After about 8 months of these being installed one of the two has fogged up pretty severely (the other is still free of moisture). It doesn't appear to be effecting the performance of the thermometer and I can still read it but it's kind of annoying.

Dial assembly broke off base while removing from packaging (and I didn't just tear it out of the package, I cut the package open with scissors). There is no fastener between the dial and the base - the dial is simply pressed on the base and requires almost zero effort to remove. So even if you have a thermometer which is currently in one piece, any slight bump or jar could knock the head off. Once off, the needle hangs up on the dial as this is the only thing keeping the two pieces from completely separating. If you're lucky, the shaft/needle assembly won't be permanently bent or kinked. Oh, and there is no keyway between the base and dial. So you would have to boil the thermometer and then rotate the dial to 212 and repeat this every time if falls apart. Epic Fail. I am extremely dissatisfied.

This is a really nice heavy duty gauge, It's installed on my patio built in gas grill. I lost my thermometer so I bought this one as a replacement. I used JB Weld in order to install it on a non taylor grill and it's terrific! It's one solid looking grilling machine now. After I let the JB weld cure for about 15 hours I turned up the grill to see how the thermometer worked and it performs as it should. The con about this product is the glow in the dark feature. Even though I could still see the temp in a low lighted area, I wished it was glowing bright. But overall this is a great accurate gauge for the grill.

This is a nice gauge it was much larger then I expected. I can see it from across patio with a quick glance. The face is supposed to be glow in the dark, but that hasn't worked for me. Overall it was a nice addition to my Weber smoker that did not come with a thermometer at all. I would recommend using a uni-bit when drilling the hole to install it.

After purchasing a new gas grill with an electronic ignitor, I decided that they are the way to go. I took the old grill I was using to my second home and decided that I wanted to upgrade the troublesome piezo push button starter. This electronic starter did the trick, but there is something that anyone wanting to do the same should be aware of. None of the newer electronic starters have a small enough shank to mount into an existing piezo starter's hole. You will need to either enlarge the existing hole or drill another hole. The size of hole that this starter requires is 7/8". When you purchase this you will need to also purchase a step drill bit that can drill a 7/8" hole. Once you have the correct size hole drilled, installation is very easy. The new starter works nicely and is a major improvement over the old piezo push button starter.

I purchased this unit for homebrewing. For the first 30 minutes, this thing rocked. I turned it off to add some ingredients, and now it putters out a flame. If I turn on both burners, it pretty much stops working because the flames go out. I have been working for 55 minutes to bring 5 gallons of liquid to a boil. I am at 190F. I will up the stars if Bayou Classic is able to correct the problem, but for now I am less than impressed.

--UPDATE: 5/5 ---

I called Bayou Classic to receive a new regulator. The person on the phone was very friendly and said one would ship right away. It has been more than two weeks and I am still waiting. I called the 800 number and was sent to a voice message instructing me to call another number. I have had this product almost 30 days without a sucessful use. I might just ship it back.

--UPDATE: 5/22 ---

I finally spoke to someone at Bayou Classic two weeks ago. I was told the regulators had just come in and one would ship the next day. I am still waiting for my part. I have been trying to reach Bayou Classic via phone all morning, and I only get a busy signal. I would not recommend buying the company's product. The people seemed friendly, but the company has failed to deliver a replacement part within 6 weeks.

Amazon customer service was nice enough to send me a replacement burner. As always, I think Amazon customer service is great, but I am still not impressed with Bayou Classic. I would not buy its products again.

--UPDATE: 5/29 ---

This really needs to be a 1 star review. I received my replacement unit and tested it. The gas line had a leak in it. So you are not surprised, it says Made in China. The regulators Bayou Classic received from the manufacturer are bad. If you've read this far, I should note that I still have yet to receive my replacement gas regulator from the company after 6 weeks. Amazon is refunding me because this product is junk. Do not buy Bayou Classic!

In doing my best to be fair, I received the replacement regulator today. It's too bad I shipped the product back for a refund 10 days ago. I wish Bayou International would have just said there was a backlog on this item the times I called. Although, nearly 8 weeks is a pretty long time to wait for a replacement part.

This is a great cooker. My husband wanted one that had two burners and no wind guards. Saw this and the price was great. We cooked a boiler of shrimp on one side and a boiler of potatoes and corn on the other. Worked wonderful. It was sturdy and just what he wanted. I would highly recommend this cooker. I don't think you will be disappointed in it.

First of all I'll throw in a plug for Amazon....we have purchased from them several times in recent years and have always been happy. We received our table in super fast time. It works great with my new cast iron reversible griddle #7428 28". My only regret is that I didn't know about the 3 eyed unit at the time I purchased it. Although it is still great I wish the legs were more sturdy and about a foot longer. I am a short 5'3 and we still had to build a rise to set in on. The legs seem a little flimzy but still work well as long as you are careful. I had to contact theBayou company as one of the controls didn't work but they were great and the piece arrived UPS fast in about two days. I would buy this all over again.

After using for a while I will add that we have had no problems..although I have never felt that the legs were sturdy enough nor long enough; we have had no problems. Just a warning...be very careful ...especially is there are children around. This is no toy. This grill gets really hot and I do worry about the stability of those legs.

Not bad for the price. I bought mine directly from somewhere else back then. It's really meant to be outdoors. I had mine for more than five years. The only maintenance you need to do is cover the regulator assembly to prevent rain water to get in and try not to get the burner wet with oil bec. it's going to be rusty.

It's time to shop for Christmas. My sister has a pig motif in her kitchen. We both cook from scratch, grow a garden, and grill outside. Corn on the cob is served often at our home. I had some shaped as a cob, with one pointed blade like a long stick pin. The corn cob rolled, making buttering a chore. I am so happy I found these useful little holders. This pan is a perfect replacement for the original. I badly abused the one that came with the smoker and had to pay the price for neglect. I got into the habit of leaving the water in the pan between uses before cleaning it. I even left it over winter last year. This year when I fired it up for the first time the pan had a hole in it and doused out the wood in the chip pan. This pan is exactly like the original one except for the hole in it of course. From now on the pan gets cleaned and dried as soon as the smoker cools down. You can not go wrong with this purchase. Just remember to clean and dry it after each use.

arrived with numerous defects from dents and scratches to bubbles in the enamel that had chipped away. This is a WATER pan that is exposed to heat. all that exposed metal will rust.

Insult to injury...the replacement pan was worse, opted for the refund!

I got this briquettes for a review directly from the manufacturer.

They just do not work.

The lightening mechanism is flawed, forget ready to cook in 12-15min. More like 30min.

BUT by the time there are ready to cook you realize the heat output is so low that you can keep you hand a few inches over the briquettes for minutes without getting burnt.

So you end up cooking a couple of burgers and hot dogs at super low temperatures, even after 45min they are still not done and the product is burnt out.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

As advertised this easy to light charcoal block was very difficult to light at high altitudes (>7,000 ft).

I was able to light it using a small amount of paper and over 30 minutes for full ignition. The heat generated by the block is also low due to low oxygen. What should have cooked in the Cobb BBQ in 30 minutes took 2 hours and looked poached rather than grilled.

This is a fun grill cover as I'm an alum of Minnesota and my son is a sophomore there. When I came across it online at Amazon I thought it would be nice when my son's friends come over and bon fire/cook out. My only concern is that we live near Chicago and the weather may wreck it as it's quite thin. I'm thinking I may buy a heavier cover for the winter and store this one for the better weather. I received this in the mail, opened it right up and put it together. It's SO easy to put together (you just have to screw the legs onto the main part), and it works great! It doesn't look cheesy, or clunky, or like plastic like I was sort of worried. It fits in perfectly to our backyard setting. there's only ONE thing I think that could make it better, and that is to have a tiny hole somewhere for rainwater to leak out. We may just put one in... We live in Oregon, so it rains 60-70 percent of the time anyhow. Anyhow, not a single complaint other than that, and the dealer got it to me on day one of their anticipated span of days it could be. (I received it on my birthday!)

Landmann USA Garden Lights Sarasota Firepit Black Finish

Ordered this firepit based on Amazon price and solid reviews. Have to say I am not that impressed with the actual quality of the product. Construction is no better than similar units selling for less at local home improvement and hardware stores. Had I known this, I would have bought a better-built (but not as decorative) unit for half the price at my local Farm & Fleet.

Besides the overall "delicate" quality of this fire pit, the paint on the thin sheet metal frame was bubbling and peeling off right out of the box...and that was before we had ever used it! I'm expecting with exposure to the outdoors, all the paint will be gone shortly and it will begin to rust. And don't be fooled by the Landmann USA name...this is good old Chinese construction at it's finest.

I had been shopping for a firepit for some time and had looked at quite a few that friends had or that were for sale at various bricks and morter stores like Home Depot and Wal-mart. I wanted something well made, with a straightforward design, which would be easily moved around and cleaned. I ended up buying the Landmann Sarasota based on reviews I had seen as well as Amazon's excellent price. It showed up and during the unpacking I was immediately impressed on how well packed and constructed it was. While it is still made of stamped sheet metal, it's thicker than many I had seen and the bolts and welds seem to be of decent quality. It went together very quickly and in short order my first fire was chugging away in it. So far it has had few and it is performing well. Just a note to buyers...there are no drain holes in this model so either move it under a roof or put a cover over it when not in use. Water mixing with ashes will make a corrosive slurry that will eat through the metal in short order.

The price is OK but I can see it dropping by $30.00 unless the unit is built better or includes a plastic rain cover or grill insert. It is packaged well enough and is somewhat heavy, but it is not made of higher gauge steel or finished with a coating to prevent rust. (The "clay" color does not mean it is made of clay.) Anyone owning a BBQ is familiar with how the bottom of the BBQ unit may quickly rust just from condensation as the unit cools. Sand is recommended to catch ashes and stabilize the pot (I used 2 bags of play sand) to cover the bottom. Condensation collects easily at the bottom of the pit (or is absorbed by the sand) and does not easily evaporate-unless (perhaps) you live in an area with a constant wind. Water against metal hastens the rusting process. Using heat-resistant Rustoleum paint (or aluminum foil) under the sand may help delay the rust-out, but who knows how effective or safe that may be. You could use "fire-glass" rocks, but these are mostly for decoration for the top of gas-fired pits or gel pots rather than wood burning fire pits.

The hemispherical wire mesh spark cover does not seat itself exactly to the interior of the pit rim (about an inch smaller in diameter), so the cover is held up by three rim pegs (included) made of heavy solid metal. The fire poker is included, is in two pieces and screws together, but mine does not align perfectly. Also, one of the 3 legs was different in style from the other two. It did not have the cosmetic "rivets" down both sides of the leg wings. Probably not a big thing to most people.

This unit is most likely to be used in the confines of your space-limited backyard (avoid placing it on your wooden deck unless you buy a fire pad made specifically for deck protection see deckprotect.net). If you prefer to retrofit the unit for easier lighting or to use as a grill, there are all kinds of propane gas inserts on the market (but you would have to drill a hole somewhere in this pot for the feed-line). You may want to use a heavy gauge grate that raises the wood and holds fatwood under the grate rather than use newspaper as a fire starter. Making this fire pit safe for deck/backyard use will cost you about as much as this unit costs. I have called it a "conversation piece" until I found and bought all the extras to limit the fire hazards. And, don't forget to have a larger-size fire extinguisher handy, just in case.

Now for the fire pit rain covers out there: Way too many covers too little information. 23 1/2" diameter means so many different things to so many different manufactures. For me, it was trial and error. I will update this review when the cooler weather arrives.

We received one day earlier than promised delivery date. Unpacking and setup was quick the next evening. Burned our first fire in it that night which was first cold snap since labor day. Like that this fire pit is smaller diameter and deeper than others. Really enjoy the big mesh screened diamond cutouts so you can really watch the fire but feel safe as it is contained (mostly) within the screening. Do make sure you have some sand to put in bottom. We didn't know ahead of time it was required but happened to have some around. Thinking of investing in 2-3 bricks to put in bottom as well to bring wood up off the sand and allow better air circulation and better wood burning with less need to shift things. Be sure to get a rain cover; we wish it came with one. We are still waiting for delivery of ours from another company. It is due in a day or two... thankfully is been dry around here...
