This is a fabulous product to have a fire anywhere and not leave a scorch fire ring behind. It sets up quickly, and is very portable. Love the accompanying bag to make it easier to carry and keep the car/camper cleaner. We will probably use it at home between camping trips.

3/14/12-We used this every day, in the morning and in the evening, during a weeklong camping trip. It folded up nicely for storage and was a solid performer. The best was once we packed it up, we didn't leave any scorch marks behind to mark we had been there. So you can have your camp fire without leaving a black firepit behind. or taking to the beach, made very well, sturdy. would take a good shove to turn over, the bigger size is great too, precut logs fit nicely no worry of falling out. there is no bottom grate, but it doesn't seem to be deep enough to need it, but I may get one anyway, just to keep the logs off the bottom of the pit. It feels heavy enough to hold up to the hot coals but I'm sure it will last longer if they were up off the bottom. I would recomemd for anyone who wants a portable ( the bag is super nice).

This is a nice unit. Well put together, light but seemingly sturdy. The carrying case is a nice touch, and the legs easily fold up for storage. What I'm not impressed with at all is the paint. We used this one time, with a small fire that wasn't that hot. Now you can already see a good bit of rust in the bottom of the bowl. I'll now have to repaint it using some high-temp bbq paint.

I decided this spring that I wanted to buy a charcoal grill. I have used a gas grill for years but I missed the taste of food cooked over charcoal that we used when I was a boy. When I bought the grill I decided to purchase all the accessories I could so that I could cook any recipe that came my way.

Growing up we had always eaten fish fried and I wanted to try cooking some on the grill. One of the reasons I bought the grill was to cook fewer fried meals.

This fish basket was exactly what I had in mind and it was the first accessory I used. I heated up the grill, sprayed the fish basket with Pam and cooked 6 tilapia filets over the grill, marinating them with a lemon-herb sauce I had prepared. They turned out perfectly and had a wonderful grilled taste I was hoping for.

The basket was easy to use and easy to clean up afterward. I am sure that I will use it repeatedly in the future.

Great device. Makes cooking fish very easy. One thing to note is if you cook fish that has been skinned already, you will get residue on the basket that can be a bit more challenging to get rid of.

Weber has made superb product for the Weber Q gas grills. One issue is the cost is a bit high, but it is very well made. It has other uses other than holding fish; it is great for cooking potatoes and corn on the cob. This rack sits on top of the iron grate and keeps vegetables from burning.

forget most precut filets of fish with any thickness to them. Tried both cod and salmon and both considerably too thick to fit in the small space between the top and bottom lids.

After purchasing a new gas grill with an electronic ignitor, I decided that they are the way to go. I took the old grill I was using to my second home and decided that I wanted to upgrade the troublesome piezo push button starter. This electronic starter did the trick, but there is something that anyone wanting to do the same should be aware of. None of the newer electronic starters have a small enough shank to mount into an existing piezo starter's hole. You will need to either enlarge the existing hole or drill another hole. The size of hole that this starter requires is 7/8". When you purchase this you will need to also purchase a step drill bit that can drill a 7/8" hole. Once you have the correct size hole drilled, installation is very easy. The new starter works nicely and is a major improvement over the old piezo push button starter.

What a package deal!! Brinkmann's famous long live smoker in stainless steel. I have had my orignial Black painted Brinkman smoker for over 13 years here in North Alabama. All parts still in tact but I have passed it on to my father-n-law and we still use it to this day. I have had several at our vacation home in Destin, FL but the salt air environment is not good on any of the painted grills or smokers.....UNTIL NOW....I believe this one will last forever!!

Right out of the box I was mystified by a stretchy sticky film over the main body of the stainless steel. It had to be peeled off by hand, and it was difficult, tedious, an utlmately incomplete as the film soes into the seam and had to be burned out. Once past that ordeal, we got the grill operating and it produced a wonderful meal. I've had the enameled grills before and they worked great but rusted eventuall, hence trying the stainless steel. Comes with the basket I'd special ordered for earlier grills, which is a real plus for salmon. The grills are a bit too coarse for fish, always ended up using foil.

Not the cheapest by any means, but it never fails to light, it only takes one lighter square to light, it will heat up the BGE to 750 in under a 1/2 hour. Very little ash. I might be using more than I would of other brands, but I gladly trade that for reliable performance.

I've been trying to find good lump charcoal without breaking the bank on Green Egg Charcoal. I have a Grill Dome so I thought I'd give this a try. I've used most of a bag and I'm very, very impressed. This lump is just the right mixture of larger and smaller pieces. It burns very clean, imparts an excellent flavor, burns hot, and lasts. That's what I have really liked about Green Egg Charcoal. This seems just as good. It reminds me of Royal Oak, but seemed to have a better flavor.

Edit: When I purchased this charcoal it was $19.99 for a 20 lb bag. I don't think I'd pay the $36 current price over Royal Oak, especially when a 17 lb bag of Royal Oak is $12.99 at Walmart. It's good but not that much better.

This lighter comes adjusted with a small maximum flame for safety reasons but can easily be readjusted for a larger flame. Loosen the small set screw on the side of the flame adjustment knob. Notice the marks on the bottom of the knob for correct orientation. Remove the knob. Turn the fluted shaft very slightly (1 detent) counterclockwise. Replace the knob, test, and repeat until you get the size flame you want. Be careful, this lighter can shoot out a six inch flame. The fluid should be full when this is done to prevent over adjusting. This is a very dangerous product but quite useful for lighting candles and lanterns.

I use lighting devices like this every day to light candles at our bed & breakfast establishment. I was excited when I saw that Zippo had put one on the market because I was aware of Zippo's reputation for elegantly designed, reliable lighters. I have been disappointed to discover that although the thing looks pretty and appears to be well-made, it is clumsy and awkward to operate. The safety button is in the wrong place to be comfortably depressed while striking the lighter. Compared to other devices of this type, the Zippo does not have much distance between the flame and your hand making it difficult to light wicks that are down inside jar-type candles. Also, the fuel-level indicator is nearly impossible to see making it difficult to know when the thing needs re-filling. I am much happier with way cheaper such devices that are more versatile, user-friendly, and ergonomically designed.

What I hate about most household lighters is how flimsy and cheaply made they are. To be honest I am a bit of a worrywart and I am very uncomfortable with throwing the disposable lighters away for fear of starting a fire. Scoff if you like but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

What I love about this Zippo household lighter is how durable and long lasting it is. I don't have to throw it away, just refill it. It's of a metal design, not plastic and has a very convenient safety function (you have to depress a button on the underside of the lighter while flicking the switch on the upper side with your thumb). While it might not be as versatile, the extension of the flame from your hand is only about 4 or 5 inches, the quality is light years ahead of the plastic brands.

I have a larger version of this Zippo lighter that is probably 5 or 6 years old and had the same problem. The solution was to remove the adjusting knob by pulling straight back and replace it in a slightly different position.

This new lighter is different in that it has a stop that is made of brass. This is a small brash washer with nub that rests against one of two stops molded into the end piece that the adjustment knob sits in. If you remove the black adjustment knob you will find a fluted brass tube that surrounds the gas filler tube. Grasp the black adjustment knob firmly and pull it out of the end piece or shroud. I take my thumb nail and pry the knob up a bit to get it started. Once you remove the knob you will find the fluted brass tube that adjusts the flame. At the bottom of that fluted tube you will find the brass washer with the nub probably resting against one of the stops. On mine there were 2 very small rubber O rings that hold the brass washer down. Using a very small screw driver I pried the 2 O rings off which gave me access to the brass washer. This is also fluted and slides over the brass tube. Taking a small, thin screwdriver I was able to pry this washer up and off the brass tube. This was a slightly tedious process and took time. At this point you could probably toss the washer, reassemble the adjustment mechanism and have an overly adjustable lighter. I chose, however, to reinstall the brass washer but rotate it a few flutes which, after reassembling, made the lighter vastly more adjustable but still within limits. After placing the brash washer I had some trouble getting the O rings back on but inserting both jaws of a needle nose pliers I was easily able to stretch them over the brass tube and push them down over the washer.

I hope this helps and my instructions are not too awkward. It was a bit of a tedious process but very doable and resulted in having a lighter that is much more adjustable and able to throw a several inch long flame.

I have three of these lighters and they have all worked poorly. Low to non-existent flame, no matter how adjusted. BUT I discovered the Amazon review that talks about adjusting the flame. This is slightly more than turning the black knob on the base. You must pull off the knob, and loosen a screw slightly, and then turn the adjuster one little click counter-clockwise, tighten the screw up and then put the black knob back on. Now try it. I was ready to send them all back to ZIPPO in one big box with 1 $5.00 check and hpe for the best, but it is now not necessary.

All are working and all are working better than they ever have.

IF YOURS IS WORKING POORLY TRY THE ADJUSTMENT.

Char-Broil Universal Fit 22" Bar Burner Review

My grill sits outside all year, so I seem to go through a burner element once a year or so. Even if it looks to be in reasonable shape, I have found that replacing it results in more even and better heating.

The hardest part about changing out burners is the inevitable grill clean-up project that it turns into. Removing the old burner is never a problem, and putting in the new one takes about 30 seconds. This unit comes with standoffs for raising the burner above the bottom of the grill, and clips for securing the propane lines. You will immediately know if your installation requires either of these.

Don't worry about the propane connection-the burner lines slip into the propane feeds underneath the grill-no tools, sealers, tightening or expertise required...a five-year-old could do it.

Amazon seems cheaper than the big box retailers by a couple bucks, and always seems to have them in stock, especially during grill tune-up season in late Spring. While you are at it, consider buying a new drip vaporizer bar. Char-Broil 4986272 3-Piece Universal Vaporizer Bar

The only downside-this burner is made out of fairly light steel, as is every other one I have ever seen for sale. Just means you are going to be buying one again next year.

I have a backup now. It was EXACTLY the same one I had bought locally for almost twice the price. The product itself works well and holds up even though we grill alot. After having tried (and been unsatisfied with) a brush, a balled up piece of heavy duty foil, and Grill Floss, I decided to give the Grill Stone a shot.

At someone's request here is my opinion on floss vs. foil vs. stone.

Floss

The Grill Floss product is my least favorite simply because it's such a pain to use. The floss works well enough to clean the grill (in fact it's probably the best product to clean all sides of the bars), BUT it's very time consuming since you have to scrape each side of the bar individually. And the thinness of the handle along with the pressure you need to exert makes it a strain on the hands.

Heavy Duty Foil Ball

I like this one because it's fast and easy. It doesn't clean the best, but it's better than a brush and it does a good job of scraping the sides of the bars. Also, after you hit the grill with the foil ball... you're done. No extra steps. The ball is pretty much the only thing you can do to get a quick, light cleaning in between rounds of cooking.

Grill Stone

This product is pretty good. It's a pumice stone, so it's very soft and light weight. When you brush down the grill with it and apply enough pressure, you'll put some grooves in the stone which will help to clean the sides of the bars. The stone does a good job of scraping every little bit off of the bars, and it's pretty quick since you're not scraping each bar individually. Basically it's like the foil ball but more abrasive.

The only downside is that you can't use it for a quick clean across the top like you can with the foil ball. You pretty much have to do a full clean on both sides and then brush down the grill when you use it. If you only scrape the top, then the remaining char and grease on the sides and bottoms of the bars will be covered in the sandy residue left by the stone. You don't want any of that to transfer to your food. Even if you brush the grill after cleaning the top, I think that you won't be able to get all of it. You'll probably need to scrape both sides and then brush the grill to get all of the sand off.

This is a phenomenal product. It cleans quickly and easily, but the grates do have to be rinsed after cleaning unless you want little grains in your hamburgers.

As another reviewer noted, the pumice is soft and wears away quickly. But this is a real plus for two reasons: first, the grime that's picked up rinses easily off the stone; and second, if you have railroad-rail-shaped bars, you can quickly wear a groove that exactly matches the bar width and lets you clean all surfaces.

Mine came with the handle and a total of three stones. I used up one stone cleaning my three grates: they had not been cleaned in two years and were almost beyond hope.

This is 'way better than the "Grill Daddy" which I bought at the same time.

This item does clean the grill very well, and with minimum effort. I always feel you have to really put pressure on a metal brush to remove the junk on the grill, but with this, I didn't feel that I had to use that much pressure. However, it has only lasted about 3 cleanings, plus I recommend that you wipe the grill off again after using the block. It leaves a fine dust on the grill, and I wouldn't want to consume it. All in all, I will probably purchase the item again, but only use it occasionally to get heavy junk off the grill, and still keep a wire brush handy for the in-between cleanings.

At first I wondered how this gray block of fine grit was going to clean anything, but it does. My grill grates are as clean and shiny as when I bought them and the 3/8" baker's steel griddle I use to bake pizza on the grill cleans-up in a flash.

Also, after reading about several people getting very sick from ingesting small pieces of wire from their grill brush, I was pleased to throw-out my old brushes. I recommend, however, polishing your grill grates and griddles with high heat oil and a soft cloth to remove any foreign substances after cleaning and before letting food touch the metal.

I ordered this side burner based on price. It would be a great deal at twice the price. This burner works great and puts out a lot of heat. It fires right up with the built in ignitors, and comes apart easily for cleaning. It also has a slide out grease tray.
