Char-Broil Lava Rock Review
Most of the rocks in the bag are too small and fall through my grill grate, probably won't purchase again.
As a result of purchasing , it is now performing as good as when I purchase it.

I am writing this review in lieu of all of you that HATE big and small lava rocks. Especially those that FALL THRU THE GRATE. I bought these and started to put them on the grill with little ones falling through and then realizing why my husband said when I asked if I could put these in HIS GRILL he said . "go ahead have fun". I didn't know what that meant at the time. I thought I would be able to pour the bag in the grill and wa-la, presto done. Not so!!! And he knew it. Well, for those who read this review and who bake I found the solution. Go to the store and buy a cookie cooling rack the size of the inner side of your grill. I bought one. Put it above the gas burner (on the grate that I would have had to neatly stack these lava rocks on) and poured the bag in. Presto, Done!!!! The cookie sheet squares are only 1/2 x 1/2" if that so even the smallest of the lava rocks would not fall through. I was done in seconds. :-)Best Deals for Char-Broil Lava Rock
My husband loves to have lava rocks in the gas grill. He had attempted to get them at chain hardware stores and couldn't find them. These rocks keeps him happy and me out of the kitchen.Honest reviews on Char-Broil Lava Rock
I was disapointed because one half of the lava rocks were to small. They were pebble size and fell through the grate.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Char-Broil Lava Rock

EcoZoom Stove - Wood, Biomass, or Charcoal Review
I received my stove a week ago after watching the videos and doing my homework. I was looking for a stove to replace my propane stove that I have used for 15 years camping and fishing throughout the West. I was a little skeptical about the video showing how little wood it will take but then the world is messy and as long as it worked I would be OK with it. I am easy to please but hard to impress. This stove didn't just impress me, it Wowed me. I found my round bottom wok fit perfect on top of the stove so I took one 8 inch square piece of fir and chopped it to the suggested 1/2 inch size so that I had what looked more like kindling than firewood and fired up the stove. In less than a minute the smoke went away and I started a simple pork stir fry in my wok. I expected the stove to over heat the wok but I was surprised that the temperature with the suggested size of wood was perfect. I do the meat first then the veggies so that I don't over cook the veggies but I also had some hard stuff like broccoli that takes time to cook. I cooked over the stove for 30 minutes or so and it was dark when dinner was done. It came out perfect. I still had more than half of my 8 inch square pile of fir left and since the outside of the stove was still cool enough to touch I lifted it and set the stove on our table between us and we had a miniature fireplace that we used to light up dinner. It was quite romantic.
I expected that the stove would be OK, I didn't expect that I would love it. I have not tried green wood in it but there was no smoke with the seasoned wood. I mean NONE. The heat was about like 2/3 of high on my gas stove at home so there is less worry about burning. I mean my propane stove has two settings, off and high. On high it is easy to burn stuff so I have to watch it like a hawk. With my Zoom Dura I went and did some camp chores on the second night I cooked with it. I kept an eye on it but I didn't mother hen it. I got the Zoom Dura, the model without doors, as I belong to the school that says the less moving parts the less there is for me to break. Without the door of the bigger model controlling the temperature was easier than I expected and one 8 inch square of firewood a foot long could cook two meals.
The stove fits perfect in a 5 gallon plastic bucket, although I am looking for a steel one now, and I have a lid for the bucket that is a seat. With my small folding table I have the perfect cooking station where I can set on my rear and cook at eye level. And it all packs up and stays clean in my rig. I am slightly worried that some camp grounds may make me not use it during fire season. In my youth I fought forest fires, I learned to pay particular attention to the sparks and potential problems I might expect in the woods. Only in a heavy wind would there be a problem. The firebox does a real good job of combustion and in the morning there was hardly any ash left. That is expected as it burned hardly any wood.
I love it when a product is even better than I expected. Just in case you were wondering I have no affiliation with the company, they don't know me from Adam.

JUNE 30TH SIX WEEKS LATER:
OK, I have just returned from a month on the Columbia and Snake rivers camping and fishing and have become intimate with my stove. I love it even more now that I have 30 or more meals under my belt. I have found that if I double the amount of wood I can get my wok really hot. The river bank supplies all the 1/2 inch sticks sun dried that I can use. Fire season is underway so no wood fires. In this zero tolerance society, we live by rules and no longer use common sense, even though the river was getting record rain the fire season that started June 9th prevented wood fires. So I got a bag of charcoal that I set next to the stove as charcoal is permitted but continued to burn wood. I used the charcoal bag as a red herring and so far I have not been caught. I have some pretty nifty camping gear but this is my favorite purchase in the last few years. I love it even more now than I did when I did the review above. Smokey the Bear will have to pry it from my dead fingers. I give it 6 stars.

OCTOBER 14 SIX MONTH LATER
Well I am back from fishing for half a year, and all this time this was my main stove. I have cooked on it hundreds of times now and it fits my needs like a glove to a hand. The Charcoal ruse worked everywhere and I never once burned a single briquet in it. The only problem that comes up is the carbon that it puts on the bottom of pots. If you are not careful you can get it everywhere. Here is how to solve the problem kind of. take a small squeeze bottle of liquid soap and put a few drops on the bottom of your pot before you cook. After dinner when you go to clean up everything will wash right off. I then keep my pots in a large plastic bag just on the off chance I missed some spots. Carbon won't be a problem. I generally wouldn't go to this much effort to review something 3 times but I love my stove so much I just had to come back and give you all the carbon/soap tip. Good Luck.
This model is the best one of the series, it has the 6 pot supports and both a fuel door and a lower door for controlling the burn rate. This is a stove you have to tend to. The fuel chamber is pretty small (which helps it burn so clean), but this means that in a matter of 15 minutes it'll burn out if you don't tend to it and constantly feed it sticks. You don't have to put many in for it to be hot, but you do have to lay them out on the feed rack and keep them feeding into it. Don't think you can fire it up, walk away for an hour like you can with charcoal and come back to a cooked meal. This is not that type of stove. You can use it with charcoal and coal and then it'll burn for much longer.
I like knowing I have this stove in my garage since in any kind of emergency I can get a very hot fire going and there will be fuel. For the Zombie Prep group, it's also a covert way to cook, because the flame is contained (not visible) and there's essentially no smoke it burns so cleanly. In nearly every emergency, there's wood of some type around that would be freely available to fuel this stove.
An easy way to light this stove is to place a small chunk of fire starter (sawdust packed with wax) in the burn chamber on your first few sticks and light that. In a few minutes it'll be hot and burning well. Kindling works well too, and once the burn chamber is hot it'll keep everything going nicely. Open the bottom door all the way to increase the air flow at lighting time, close it partially to control the burn rate once you have your fire going. You can also change between the 2 included grates depending on the size of your fuel and how your wood burns. One grate has wider openings than the other and smaller pieces tend to fall through if you use the larger grate.
This stove design is called Rocket Stove due to the swirling action in the burn chamber. The creator has opened up his patented design to help enable impoverished countries get these at less cost and improve their cooking conditions.
*** Nov 2012 I was asked about using coal in this stove. The only coal I have tried is Charcoal, which works great and lasts longer than wood. I don't have lump coal to try but it does come with a coal grate and says it works well with coal too.
4 stars for a great stove that cooks with nearly any wood source, not 5 since it's high maintenance to keep the fire balanced.

As a Scout leader I've found this stove useful since nearly anywhere we camp there's plenty of fuel to feed it. With this stove there's no reason to pack fuel. We use a large Dutch oven on top and cook our meals in that. It also works well with large cast iron fry pans, which distribute the heat nicely. You can also get a steel wok that fits nicely in the center for stir fry. Keep the kids not working on the meal busy by having them gather the fuel ;-)This model is the best one of the series, it has the 6 pot supports and both a fuel door and a lower door for controlling the burn rate. Very fast shipping! I have bought 4-5 other stoves looking for the right one and found most have some fuel compromises. Most need for propane, white gas, butane etc. This one does not! Are you kidding me? A hot, sustained fire with just pine needles, twigs and sticks...wow! Very easy to use. If you can start a fire you can use this stove. We have been with out power due to storms many times; often up to 5 days. This stove will be the go-to cooker stove from now on. Very well made and well packaged. Save your $ and searching. This is the one you want. Get some cast iron pans, dutch oven and a water boiler (all available from Amazon) and your ready. Looking forward to a preppers dinner soon.Honest reviews on EcoZoom Stove - Wood, Biomass, or Charcoal
This is a great product. Heavy duty, efficient, and handy. Great for emergencies or camping. I've used both wood and coal in it to test it and the item preformed very well with both.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for EcoZoom Stove - Wood, Biomass, or Charcoal
I used this stove twice to test it. Both test performed the same (Test 2. note the temp was 80 and it took 17 min. to boil the water). The ambient air temperature was 94 F humidity was about 8% I used the branches from a silver maple tree that had fallen on to my lawn. They were about half an inch in diameter. I broke them with my hands into six inch long pieces and put 6 of them in the stove trough the side opening. I then found some dead redwood tree leafs that had fallen and put a hand full of then down the top of the stove. I struck a wooden match and put it down the top hole to light the fire, I had to do this twice to get it started. All the fuel was very dry and old. The fuel started burning and and I placed a 15 Lt. Cabalas Dutch oven on top of the stove, it was filled with 10 to 13 liters of water. The water was brought to fast fast boil in 15 minutes. I had to add three hand full's of twigs during the test. It burns hot and fast. The best part is that it uses the twigs that fall from the trees that I have to remove before I mow the lawn, now I can save them in my wood shed and use them for the stove if needed. I hope this explains the stove it is worth the price and a practical stove for home use. It is not a back packing stove, but would work fine for car camping. The stove is heavy and well made. I have it stored in a safe dry place in case, I need it. review Oct 2012Wednesday, August 20, 2014
Best Elizabeth Karmel's 5.5- by 7.75 -inch Organic Cedar Personal Deals
When they say "personal size" it means if you took an avocado and sliced it in half, it would fit. And a very small piece of fish with no marinade would work. If you have more than one person, or one person that is really hungry, these are not for you.

Have used these planks on a variety of fish: salmon, grouper, hake, swordfish. On all kinds of fish these planks really enhance the flavor noticeably. Only key item is to soak them in water for as long as possible (with a heavy object to ensure planks stay completely immersed)...I generally try to have them soak about 3 hours. This really moistens the wood planks provides most flavor and avoids planks being burned through (cook with BBQ at medium heat). Planks are high quality and durable, good for at least two uses. Just wash after use, air dry at least overnight and wrap in clear wrap until next use.Best Deals for Elizabeth Karmel's 5.5- by 7.75 -inch Organic Cedar Personal
We got these to grill salmon outside on our grill. They worked just fine and kept the fish from sticking to the grill or falling apart. If you keep them away from direct heat you can reuse them in theory. Ours were put over direct low heat for faster cooking and were of course charred after 25 minutes. Grilled salmon is delicious though. So buy some planks if you like it as much as we do.Honest reviews on Elizabeth Karmel's 5.5- by 7.75 -inch Organic Cedar Personal
While these worked well, it is a lot cheaper to just buy a length of cedar fencing and cut and sand it your self. Just make sure that it is not treated with anything.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Elizabeth Karmel's 5.5- by 7.75 -inch Organic Cedar Personal
Ordered these b/c we do ALOT of grilling. Just an FYI, if you are cooking for more than two people you might want to look at getting some bigger cedar boards. However, these are PERFECT when cooking for 1-2 people. The flavor it instills in fish and chicken is AWESOME! Would suggest these to everyone!Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Discount Char-Broil Flat Rotisserie Basket
I only bought this item because the description listed below said it was Stainless Steel. However the item I received today was Chromed Steel. I would like the item advertised and not this cheap substitute, please contact me about this!
AS ADVERTISED:
Stainless steel grilling basket for use with Char-Broil electronic rotisserie
Useful for food too small or fragile to fit on rotisserie skewer
Use sliced lemons in basket while grilling for continuous basting
Easy-to-clean, sturdy, stainless steel basket
Adjustable for different-sized grills; can also use directly on the grill
I bought a non-stick one too and was disappointed to see the 4 burner grill + a searing grill width did not accommodate 2 baskets.

This basket is NOT stainless steel as advertised. It is merely chrome plated. I returned it immediately and have been dinged for return shipping costs and other miscellaneous fees as the 'error was not our fault'. Amazon is continuing to advertise this item as something it is not despite being alerted to the discrepancy by other consumers. I believe that qualifies this error as being entirely their fault. This is not the level of customer service I have come to expect and rely upon in my dealings with Amazon.Honest reviews on Char-Broil Flat Rotisserie Basket
Yes, the advetisement says stainless, but I knew it would be chrome for $10. You will need to Olive oil the basket before cooking. Put some wings in this for 45 min and you have a great meal. I have used this many times and it has never failed in any way. The food that comes out of this is exellent. It's kinda cheapley made but hasn't failed after using it about 50 times. I already got my moneys worth out of this product.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Char-Broil Flat Rotisserie Basket
Easy to use, clean and does the job great. Its a decent size too I was able to grill 15 drumsticks in one go and they turned out great indirect heat for 1:15min ! I have seen other ones that allow food to tumble around but I am hoping to grill fish and this keeps delicate veggie stable and is wide enough for corn.I bought a non-stick one too and was disappointed to see the 4 burner grill + a searing grill width did not accommodate 2 baskets.

Cheap Island Grillstone - Square
I was skeptical when my wife got one of these to try. We're big grilling aficionados and to me, not grilling directly on the grates just seemed wrong. Well, I was wrong. After the seasoning process was completed (read the instructions), my maiden voyage was marinated steak tips, which usually try to escape through the grating and the marinade causes flare ups. None of that with this. The tips cooked evenly in their own juices (and marinade) to an evenly browned, juicy, melt in your mouth meal. When you're done cooking, just shut the grill off. The stuff mostly burns off as the grill cools (obviously scrape any excess off), then the next time you want to cook with it again, just dump it over, light you're grill, and you're on you're way. Next was Italian sausage with peppers and onions. Wow, or should I say yum?! I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
1. Wash as directed, but do NOT submerge stone. Wash and Rinse
2. Dry completely (24 hours is my recommendation in a cool dry place (I shortened this to a few hours by using the dehydrate setting on my oven, at 110F. no problems)
3. Apply with brush olive oil to ALL sides
4. Place on cold grill and heat evenly (SLOWLY) as too quick can cause the stone to break (warning from manufacturer not my experience). I have a gas grill and charcoal grill, but used my gas to complete the seasoning step. Bring stone and grill up to temperature.
5. Let it cool completely before using. Flip over stone, heat grill and stone from cold up, on medium.. You are ready to cook.
6. When cooking be patient and enjoy. (no flare ups, even cooking, no lost parts.)
7. Have 2 spatulas available to move food around as it makes it easier.
I love mine it is a great addtiona to my grilling world and will use it more than the steel grates it sits on.

The Island Grillstone is awesome. The flavor and ease of cooking is wonderful. I made sausage burgers and fried onions all on the stone at the same time four 1/4 Lb burgers and onions fit perfectly for making a great dinner. Seasoning the stone was as easy as 1-2-3. Being able to use both sides for grilling means while one side is being cleaned (facing down) the other side is great for cooking. The more you use it the better it gets. Here is how I recommend seasoning along with great instructions included with the stone.1. Wash as directed, but do NOT submerge stone. Wash and Rinse

I did all the things to season it, it definitely has some advantages and disadvantages. It's great for anything you don't want flames to directly burn. An easy mistake is to make is to not heat it up enough, it really needs to get hot, I think, to brown meat. So for a steak, which I like a little crispy on the outside with grill marks, it put them on the the grill half way done. I haven't tried any of veggie things yet.Monday, May 12, 2014

Customer Ratings:
List Price: $78.90
Sale Price: $25.00

1.) Product states it's 17" long. I received 16-3/4" long burners which matched my OEM burners exactly. I have seen others stating they are 17-1/8" and I'm certain they would work (if they are actually that long), as there is at least 3/4" of play end to end to accept that length. For installation this is a good length. The extra room made it easier to hold the front panel while positioning the tube. I can't imagine the flame would be better / larger etc. by adding length and it matched the originals.
2.) Product weight is listed as 11 oz for one burner, 3.5 lbs for all five. At least that math was right; using a digital postage scale; one tube is 6.5 oz.or almost half the advertised weight! However, my original (used) tubes weigh 7.3 oz. now! So it seems after rust and flakes came off my old OEM burners they still weighed 10.8% more than these brand new burners. This means to me the stainless steel in the new burner is minimally 10.8% thinner and is unlikely to last as long as the OEM.
3.)My flame adjustment was nearly perfect when I aligned the leading edge of the venturi, (the chrome piece with screens that you twist counterclockwise), with the center of the crease stamped into the burner at about 9:00. This left about half the screen exposed. By "leading edge" I mean the straight edge beyond the screw slot projection. About 1/8" adjustments made a difference and 1/16" fine tuned it. For a variety of reasons it may be different for others but once I got one fine tuned, I duplicaed the others, installed and bingo-perfection. With a full tank of gas I had just a few flickers of orange above the blue cones. Initially the first burner would only light 1 side but as I got closer to the sweet spot it ignited fine on both sides. I may have played with the igniter alignment also.
4.) Initially when cleaning the grill I learned one burner was cracked and widened to 1/4" across the top in the rear, others were rusted but otherwise fine. This explained a hotspot I had trouble with. I bought this 5 pc. set for my 3 burner grill because the extra 2 burners gave me free shipping and 2 spares for an emergency and less coin than buying the 3 pc.set. The part # is the same except the suffix number indicating the number of burners. I found singles sold for under $9.00 incl. shipping that I'm hopeful will be around when I need to replace the entire set again. Obviously I'll just buy the 1 I'll need.
5.) Testing: Heat is even, flames appear precise, no hotspots except the rear is generally hotter than the front since new. I used the free space to pull the burners towards me as far as poss. to hopefully even it out with some success. Each burner lights first time almost always which is a big improvement especially for the cracked one. I then got carried away and used my orbital sander with 120 grit on the burner covers / tents and they shined up like new removing the chunks that even a wire brush wouldn't touch. I beleive this helped even the heat out eliminating hot spots even more. The whole thing looks new. Burners took 20 min. tents /burner covers 15-20 min. Stored extra burners in bottom cabinet and washed up. Less than 1 hour.
I grilled 20 strip steaks the following day and got more compliments than ever. Even those wishing for Med./Well (Ughh) received a juicy tender peace of meat and I've always had trouble on those MW requests. I simply put those on the rear burner area and didn't change the time. I had to throw one back on for 45 sec.
6.)Conclusion: I hate bad information, lies, and misleading info to the sellers advantage. They can't weigh, or measure but more importantly the burners don't mach OEM specs for metal guage. Aside from this the price was phenominal compared to others and the performance absolutely flawlessly exceptional. I have found clones, fakes, and clones of the clones! If a good clone works someone will clone it on amazon. It seems to get harder to make good buying decisions with less product info, constantly changing vendors with the same adv. and description. Cmon, can't even weigh it! How can you compare? But for me this is one that worked out well, performs for an exceptional price. Just saying it is nearly impossible to compare unless it is a leading well known brand and even then I found counterfeit. I don't know if this is counterfeit or not but for $25.00, it works well I can live with it. But as far as providing a rating the innacuracies deserve a 0, performance a 5. Performance is more important but I took the risk with the arcane way returns are handled. I looked up a previous purchases and they changed the vendor to someone I've never dealt with. This was in my purchase history try doing wty. claims with this stuff going on and nothing came with the item, no shipper, no phone, no address, no instructions.

I'm "REALLY!" in to a healthier lifestyle, and subscribe to "several" respected health e-zines.
1. 15+ years ago I read tests that charcoal BBQ's, really put "LOTS" of very bad carciniogens into your meat!
2. So I went to a gas BBQ. Not as good tasting as charcoal, but "SUPPOSEDLY" healthier?
NOT!Now I read tests that gas BBQ's are little healthier than charcoal. The "deadly" carciniogens are in the drippings smokecoming from the hot lava rocks below!
3. So I now go to the MECO electric grill.
Pros-
a. Healthieras virtually no smoke (grill/elements are steeply slanted, and drippings collect in a handy pan under the grill).
b. No having to mess with expensive propane gas...
c. Well made, and sturdy.
d. Low fire dangerAcceptable for most apartment complexes. ASK!
e. Sears steaks well (preheat on high for 15+ min, and close lid FAST! Requires a "Heavy Duty" electric outlet!). Cooks just as fast (or faster) than gas. BUT, "NO!" BBQ taste! You will probably need a marinade...
Good "web search" recipe I found for steaks...-
I pre-mix & rub in, a blend of-
salt ("AlsoSalt"is very healthy and GOOD tasting!), black pepper, chili powder (all in equal parts...), and a little cayenne pepper. You can also add any other seasonings you like, to taste...
PAM makes a "High Temp" cooking spray, for the grill.
4. Cons-
a. This is difficult and time consuming (2+ hours! & I'm VERY handy!), to assemble!
TipsPounding on the axel end caps was a challenge (finally laid it on it's side, and put a 1/4 drive socket (for backing, on the other end) & hold cap with pliers.
You will surely drop screws... (I put an old sheet underneath it).
In short its great. Takes alittle getting used to. I found letting it warm up for ten minutes seems to help. Stay close though as it will cook faster than it appears on the outside. The first few burgers and steaks were alittle dry from over cooking. The only downside I have is the glass window which has since I have owned the grill, fallen in several times due to the clip that supports the glass is alittle short. Otherwise get one and happy grilling...

This grill is great. It took about an hour to assemble but it was relatively easy. It's a good size (you could easily grill a couple of steaks on it) plus the rotisserie feature is nice. It heats up quickly and cooks the food evenly. The grill itself is sturdy and thick and leaves nice grill marks on the food. It is removable and easy to clean either by hand or in the dishwasher. The side trays are also removable and are a heavy duty plastic that can be put in the dishwasher. If you choose to you can put some hickory chips in the bottom of the unit next to the heat coils, then close the hood and smoke the food, which gives the food a great hickory smoked flavor. There is a drip tray at the bottom of the unit that is easy to remove and clean. I like the fact that this grill is environmentally friendly and I never have to worry about running out of gas halfway through my cooking. All in all, this is a great grill and I'm very happy with it.Best Deals for Meco 9359W Deluxe Electric Cart Grill with Rotisserie, Satin Black
I am very pleased with this grill the only comment I have it is a little difficult to take the tray out to clean. The food does not taste like a charcoal grill but it is extremely close and probably a lot healthier. After reading some of the reviews about the Meco electric grill, I was alittle skepticle about purchasing one. I live in a Co-op so I have no choice, if I want to grill which I like to do all year round its gonna have to be an electric grill. In short its great. Takes alittle getting used to. We used these planks for our first planking adventure and they worked great! We planked some sockeye salmon filets with a very thick marinade and they turned out magazine-worthy, visually and taste-wise.
We soaked the planks for an hour, seasoned one side on the gas grill for ten minutes, turned the plank with tongs, placed the salmon and sauce on the charred side, put the lid down and left it alone for twenty minutes. Superb! An added bonus was that some stuffed pattypan squash we were cooking on the grill at the same time were infused with a smoky flavor and were the perfect accompaniment to the salmon.
Planking is not a cheap way to cook, though these planks are one of the best values I've found. They are reusable, though the packaging suggests discarding after one use. The plank we used for our salmon turned dark with charred edges, but I'm expecting to get at least one more use from it. These planks are not the thickest I've seen, though they seem to be fairly sturdy. I'd estimate they're about 3/8 of an inch thick.
Planking is not a spur of the moment cooking technique. Planks must be soaked for at least twenty minutes ahead of time, and I'd suggest at least an hour, no matter what the intended food is. The packaging suggests soaking in proportion to the length of time required to cook the food--longer soaking for beef and pork.
This is a great addition to any grilling repertoire and these planks can also be used in the oven, making planking a year round adventure!
I never reused these planks more than once at first, because I didn't know you could, but now I do scrape them off, run them through the dishwasher, and use once again. They don't really char through the first use, like the other boards do so you get more for your money. My brother suggested I oil the board before placing the fish on it, to ease the clean up for use again, but really the clean up is not all that hard with a simple scrub and run through the dishwasher for good measure.
Very easy to use so if you haven't tried grilling with a plank, don't be worried. I soak them in water on a cookie sheet for a least 30 minutes, being sure to turn over so both sides get soaked well. This prevents the plank from burning up too quickly. Remove from water and simply place your fish on the plank, season and garnish as you normally do, and place on the charcoal or gas grill with medium/low coals as you don't want to cook the fish too quickly before the smoky flavor can penetrate the fish. Don't over check the grilling process as you don't want to let out the flavor. ENJOY!
In the morning I put 2 (sometimes 4 for bigger occasions) planks in a large pan and cover with water. I place a gallon water bottle on them to keep them submerged. If you want to marinade the salmon, we do it in the morning. My wife does a great teriyaki marinade. We have also used various bottled varieties readily available in the supermarket with great results.
I set the weber kettle for direct heat. Once the coals are white, I put 2 planks side by side on the grill and put the cover on. After a few minutes the planks will start to smoke. I then flip them over and brush some vegetable oil on the now charred side which is face up. Place the salmon on the planks and put the cover on. After about 5 minutes, I open the kettle and rotate the grill by the handles, 180 degrees to keep the grilling even. Starting at about the 10 minute mark use an instant read thermometer and pull the salmon when it reads 135 degrees in the thickest area. This is so insanely easy to do and everyone thinks I make the best cedar planked salmon.
Make sure you keep a spray bottle of water handy in case of a flare up. It's most important nearer the end of the cooking time since Salmon is quite oily and when you open the cover, oxygen can help fuel a flare up.
Bon Appetite!!!

These planks are by far superior to any others I have tried. As for the difficulty in soaking them - I put them on a cookie sheet and there's no problem with the length of the plank. I also place a full water bottle on top, to ensure the plank is submerged.Best Deals for Cedar Grill Plank Set of 6
I was given some of these as a gift a year ago, and when they were used up, I could never find a good replacement plank that could put that wonderful smoked flavor in the fish. The inferior planks would put very little flavor in the fish, or burn through the center first use, even after soaking. I finally found these again and they are wonderful, especially for salmon! They can even make that icky China grown large retail store tilapia taste restaurant gourmet! Don't be afraid of using "cedar" to smoke your fish, it doesn't smell or taste anything like your grannies closet when done!I never reused these planks more than once at first, because I didn't know you could, but now I do scrape them off, run them through the dishwasher, and use once again. CoverMates Island Grill Covers Review
I waited to write this review because durability is key with an item like this. After just over 1 year, outdoor on the western side of the house with full sunlight the cover looks basically the same as new.
Pros:
Durability excellent at 1 year
Size, measurements were accurate and fits well on my grill which slightly shorter but slightly deeper than my grill.
Waterproof, water does bead up on the outside, but the grill has not mildewed. The material seems as though it breathes.
Bird poop rinses of in rain or with water.
Cons: (more of a suggestion)
Use a restraining strap (bungie chord) or it will blow away

I have a partially customized Grill that did not have a cover to fit it. While I did consider making one, I decided to look for a generic cover that might work. This most certainly did the trick and saved me the frustrations of finding the proper materials and testing my sewing skills.Best Deals for CoverMates Island Grill Covers

I bought this as the options for covers to replace a 72" grill are limited. The overall look in nice but the fit and securing on a large jenair stainless grill leave quite a bit to be desired. It does not drape down as shown in the photo but pulls together much smaller at the bottom with the only way to remedy is is to cut out the drawstring. It was difficult to get on the grill with the bunching at the bottom.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for CoverMates Island Grill Covers

First let me state that this is NOT professional cookware. That being stated, I have to tell you that I own this model and I couldn't be happier with it. I cook on a competition BBQ team and we have won several competitions using this smoker. This little smoker has beaten professional BBQ restaurants and caterers using equipment that costs thousands of dollars and brought home lots of cash for me and my team. We use two of these in competition and have taken a 1st place in Ribs, a 2nd, in pulled pork, and a 3rd in pulled pork in just the last two months. You don't need expensive equipment to make great BBQ, you simply need something that will get smoke into the meat and hold temperature where you want it. This little smoker does both of those. The rest is understanding how meat and heat work, good prep technique, and a good recipe for rubs and sauces. If you are a home cooker who is looking for an inexpensive smoker for butts and ribs, all I can tell you is that I am very happy with mine and that I recommend this for any beginner or experienced home cooker. This unit has paid for itself several times over in the money we've won using it.
Oh, I forgot to tell you, I smoke our Thanksgiving turkey in this smoker as well.

I've gotten some High-Temp Silicone from the local hardware store, and I'll run a bead of it around the doors to seal. The first day I had it, I smoked some ribs and they came out really well. I recommend using wood chips rather than the finer wood "shavings" and soaking them in water before use.
