When they say "personal size" it means if you took an avocado and sliced it in half, it would fit. And a very small piece of fish with no marinade would work. If you have more than one person, or one person that is really hungry, these are not for you.

Have used these planks on a variety of fish: salmon, grouper, hake, swordfish. On all kinds of fish these planks really enhance the flavor noticeably. Only key item is to soak them in water for as long as possible (with a heavy object to ensure planks stay completely immersed)...I generally try to have them soak about 3 hours. This really moistens the wood planks provides most flavor and avoids planks being burned through (cook with BBQ at medium heat). Planks are high quality and durable, good for at least two uses. Just wash after use, air dry at least overnight and wrap in clear wrap until next use.

We got these to grill salmon outside on our grill. They worked just fine and kept the fish from sticking to the grill or falling apart. If you keep them away from direct heat you can reuse them in theory. Ours were put over direct low heat for faster cooking and were of course charred after 25 minutes. Grilled salmon is delicious though. So buy some planks if you like it as much as we do.

While these worked well, it is a lot cheaper to just buy a length of cedar fencing and cut and sand it your self. Just make sure that it is not treated with anything.

Ordered these b/c we do ALOT of grilling. Just an FYI, if you are cooking for more than two people you might want to look at getting some bigger cedar boards. However, these are PERFECT when cooking for 1-2 people. The flavor it instills in fish and chicken is AWESOME! Would suggest these to everyone!
