Global Solar Oven: I have baked cakes and bread so far. Everything has been done to perfection. Much easier than a conventional oven, and results are better. Works well, have reached 400 degrees on an April day in central AZ @ 5500 feet elevation, full sun.

You'll want to 'dry run' it in full-sun conditions 3 or 4 times before using it with food; as the enamel/paint they use to coat the interior bleeds into the food taste the first few uses.

Highly recommend, will purchase 2 more for family members.

I have two of these ovens (one for two years) and use them year round. They are like using an oven or a slow cooker. They are well made and are easy to use. The only thing you can't do in them is deep fry.

We are going to bake something every day now with no more worrying about how much electricity our electric oven is sucking up.

I just talked with the manufacturer because I was only hitting 250 degrees and he told me how to line it up to the sun to hit 350 degrees (basically you make sure the wood edge near the handle plumbs down to its own shadow when you are looking straight down). I had the angle too high and he said most people go too steep (about 2 clicks too steep) and not too shallow. You can maintain a full 325-350 by tracking the sun every half hour.

He had a few other tips: 1. Spray some water on the top of bread so it will brown in addition to cooking. 2.Every time you open the lid the temp drops about 25 degrees and will recover in a few minutes, so don't open the door too often. 3.You can put a frozen chicken inside at 8am, aim it to where the sun will be at noon, and feast when you get home. 4.Cook things in dark enamel (available at Target) or cover with a dark cotton cloth. 5.Cover or bring inside when not using to save cleaning time.

Nov 18,2011. 70* est-Tenn. Having pre-cleaned the sun oven earlier. At 11:30am started pre heating oven. 360* by 12:10pm. Put in biscuits for 30 minutes. Cooked un-covered. Really nice. Soft,Moist. No plastic taste! Now that I know how it works, I will take the time to make some bread, to put in the Sun Oven. Very Nice Product. Mark

My old burners lasted about 9 years. For the last 2 years the cast iron burners gradually rusted and closed the holes so that only about 70% of my grill surface could be used for cooking. The grill it self was not rusted and functioned like new so I purchased the new cast iron burners. I had to disassemble the grill to install the burners but they fit perfectly. The grease kept the nuts from rusting and were easy to undo. I keep the grill covered and expect to get another 7-10 years of service.

Best Nomex High Heat Gasket with Adhesive Upgrade Kit for X-Large Big Deals

At time of purchase (6/11/12), there were 3 reviews, all 5*. On date I installed it, a 2* review was posted saying the Nomex gasket failed at 700+ deg. F. I had an installation issue surface, and contacted High-Que to seek their input. This Company offers excellent customer service. Technical support fully resolved the technical issue to my complete satisfaction. We also spoke about the review saying the gasket fails at 700+ deg. F.

First, I was advised they had a few gaskets fail at extreme high heats . . . high 700's to 1,000+ deg. F. In addition, there may be other contributing factors such as someone propping open the BGE top with something metal (like tongs) which transfers direct high heat to the gasket, resting an extremely hot pan/pot on the gasket, or long periods of time at extreme high heat as the person got distracted by something such as drinking a few beers to many. Importantly, they're not aware of any premature failures at temperatures of 650 deg. F or below. I came away with a view that this gasket is considerably more heat resistant and durable than the factory felt gasket but not fail proof under certain conditions. If you're thinking of installing this gasket so you can grill at 750+ deg. F temps for 15 minute cooks or more, and you're expecting this to be a long-term gasket solution, you're probably going to be disappointed.

Concerning the installation of this gasket. It is simple to install but a messy, time consuming job. Most of the time is spent cleaning the old felt remnants and adhesive from both rims. The video shows a dirty rim being scraped and then it morphs to a very clean surface just before acetone is applied (I don't think the rim got that clean using a scraper). I didn't think the acetone removed the old adhesive very well. I tried a little 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (#08984) on a scrap piece, and it seemed far easier to remove the old adhesive as compared to using acetone. However, I decided to follow directions since unsure if the 3M product might leave an invisible residue that might interfere with the adhesive of the new gasket (suspect it would not especially if wiped down afterward with acetone). One tip not made clear in the directions or video is to either have someone tilt the top or have something to prop open the top to prevent it from slamming shut when starting to apply the gasket at the rear Spring Assisted Band. If not done, the tiny space at the rear mechanism makes it difficult to slide in the gasket (or run risk of it getting bound up or stuck incorrectly). Also having a pencil handy when over laying the gasket where the seams meet allows a pencil mark to be made on each side of the gasket creating an imaginary line for using sharp scissors to make the angle cut so the seams perfectly align with one another.

My wool gasket was black and shriveled within 4 times of cooking on it. Needless to say, I was frustrated with it. Rather than go back to the dealer for more of the same, I came across this high temperature gasket that promised better performance than a wool gasket. So far so good. And installation was a breeze unlike some of those other seals that require you to buy a spray adhesive.

My original handle rotted, and the OEM handle was no longer available. I have an older Green Egg and the handle did not fit exact as shown in the picture and the pre-drilled holes did not match, but I was able to easily drill the correct holes. This handle should last a long time since it is a plastic material.

After 9 years of use, the wiring broke on the igniter for my Weber Genesis Silver B grill (Pre 2002). I located this replaced and decided to purchase. (You can alway use a match but who knows when it may be a windy day.) Once I realized the top panel of the grill with the white ignition button needed to unscrewed and removed before the old igniter could be removed, everything else was easy. The installation directions were good and the ignition system worked as promised. I am not very mechanical but this was a very easy install, even for me.

I have had to replace the igniter twice in almost 15 years. The igniter was actually still quite good. It is very well made as are most Weber products. The stainless steel gas box is what eventually fails due to rusting (yep stainless steel will rust especially if subjected to heat).

It is easy to replace and I end up giving the entire grill a cleaning and tuneup.

Can't say too much for a replacement ignitor system but it works. It installed as easily as expected, and appeared to be of a slightly better quality than the part that it replaced. If the previous part is any indication, it should last about 5-7 years, hard to believe in this time of designed obsolesence.

For some reason, the big-box hardware stores recently stopped carrying replacement grills for my gas BBQ. I had a suspicion that I would still find replacement parts on Amazon. The grill rack I ordered is the upper level rack that swivels as the lid goes up and down. The replacement fit perfectly. No need to buy a new grill while parts for the old one remain available. Sounds like a big-box plot against old grills. I would suggest, though, that you carefully measure your old grill before ordering a replacement. There a many sizes available. Don't go by the picture.....go by the measurements that mirror the ones on your grill.

My grill model was listed as compatable with this, however, the measurements of the pivot points are off to the extent that when the grill closes, the rack drops fully down to the main grill. When up, the rack is tilted back a lot, where it should be level. It is all about the pivot point and the length of the pivoting arm.

I just finished putting this grill together by my self. I used a small cart to set the base on while I worked. If I had a helper at the time I could have really used one. The assembly took me about 40 minutes total. This thing is HEAVY and weighs in at 190#. I use to buy Weber grills but the wheels always fell off. This is a strong unit and has beefy legs and wheels.

The cooking space is huge. I bet you can fit 30 burgers at a time. The grill has adjustable coal rack that allows for slower or faster cooking. It also has a heavy duty ash tray.

The price here seems ridiculous as I purchased mine on sale at Orchard Supply Hardware for $225. The regular price is $299.00. This is a great grill and should give you many, many years of service.

There are more expensive wagons, but I replaced a CB-940 that I had for 30 years with this one. Who gets a moderately priced grill to last 30 years? Char-Broil.

This grill was relatively quick and easy to assemble but parts of the process are definitely easier with 2 people, particularly mounting the hood to the body. Also, it is about impossible to attach the Char-Broil plastic logo to the front, so I am going to use those 2 holes in the hood for something useful instead, like hanging hooks.

There are deficiencies.

1) The cutting boards arrived with some checking (splits) and they are a single piece of soft pine, apparently. Needless to say these will warp and split further if left exposed to the elements. I have sanded them down already and applied mineral oil, and I keep them indoors.

2) There is no hook to hang the cooking grid lifter tool on. Annoying.

3) The charcoal grate suspension mechanism has 2 major annoyances. First, charcoal falls of the end, because there is a large gap on each end and the sides. Second, when raised to the highest level, the lid of the grill is difficult to put down. However, to be fair, it is probably not that likely that a user will lower the lid if they have the coals at the highest position. I am going to heat these up and bend them inwards to resolve this but it is a design flaw.

4) There is no accessories hook rack (see point (2) above). No place to hang the tools.

Do not presume that annotances 1-4 mean I do not love this grill! 4****

The CB940X ROCKS! I inherited a Char-Broil 450 that was bought in the 1960¡¦s. After 50+ years of use it finely rusted out this winter. So I ordered the CB940X. I was surprised when the delivery guy asked for help unloading the 190lbs box. WOW! This thing is made to last. I challenge anyone to find a heavier gage steel grill for this price. Even the wheels have ball berrings and a grease zerk.

My brother bought an el-cheap-o char grill 3 years ago and it¡¦s falling apart already. You¡¦ve seen them ~$180.00 and weigh only 60lbs. Don¡¦t waste your time and money on the cheap stuff. Get the original.

I'm not sure what it is about men and their grills; but this one met the standards for my lifemate. After much searching, I decided on this one for his birthday. It does take time to put together, but the end results were worth it. It has enough grilling area to handle foods for a large gathering and cooks evenly across the grill. My one disappointment....the lid is quite heavy which makes it not as easy for me to use.

I have a Big Easy infrared deep fryer and this fits just fine after a minor bend (just center it on the edge of a table and bend it down about an inch).

Insert this in the Big Easy and grill the burgers vertically. Fat runs off and meat is lean and tasty. You can even use 80/20 burgers in this and have a much lower-fat result.

Reasonably easy to clean up after a soaking.

Does everything it's supposed to, so five stars.

96781(4-pack) Porcelain Steel Heat Plate Replacement for Review

These heat shields are not an exact replacement part. My grill has pegs that the heat shield is supposed to slip over to help hold them in place. The replacement shields don't have holes for those pegs. You can put them in and get them close, or can drill holes where the pegs are to make them more secure. They also are more sloped and not as wide as the originals, but, it does allow anything that falls or drips through the grates to fall off more easily than the flatter original head shields.

Given the price difference between the Sears / Kenmore OEM and these replacements, I would purchase these again even knowing the differences.

Great Price and fast shipping. If you have a Nexgrill you will need to drill two holes in each plate. Don't be deterred its a simple fix. The kind that makes you feel like you're handy, but really you only drilled some holes.
