The chips seem to be hardwood; what kind is anyone's guess. The start easily and smoke well, especially when wetted before putting them on the charcoal coals. My question with wet chips is whether I was seeing smoke or steam.

I do not know why I ordered chips of an unknown wood species. I would not do it again.

This thermometer has worked great. Maverick's customer service is great as well: at one point I thought the food probe was giving a bad reading so I called them & they immediately offered to send a replacement. They sent the replacement but I found that the problem was with something I was doing incorrectly.....It was NOT the thermometer's fault.

A great feature on this kit is the capability to set a temperature range ( minimum & maximum) for which an alarm will sound when the temp falls out of this range. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because the remote unit's alarm cannot be muted when it is triggered & that gets a little bit annoying. This is not a biggie when compared to what it does well. I would recommend this to anyone that want to try to control the temps in a bbq pit or smoker and NOT have to hover over the pit to maintain the temp at the correct level.

I was very close to buying the iGrill, but had my reservations with BlueTooth. I know how keyboards and earpieces lose their connection and the sometimes difficulty in getting them reconnected is frustrating. Reviews told me of disconnect problems with iPhone and iPad devices. Otherwise, I'm on iOS guy and always looking for ways to enhance that experience.

The Maverick uses different (radio) technology to connect the base and remote units. They work extremely well together. Just remember to power up the remote before the base. The probes read accurately. The only complaints I have are that the units are bit bulkier than they need to be. And the temp change is a 1 degree increment that only goes up. So at its default setting, I have to cycle over 600º to come back around to a lower temp. Otherwise it is a well built, accurate and reliable grilling thermometer.

I've used other remote thermometers, but this one is the best. Its remote function works as advertised. I can smoke a pork roast (my specialty), which requires many hours on low heat. The Maverick keeps track of the smoker's internal temp and the meat's temp while allowing me to do other tasks and not have to keep checking the smoker. Other remote thermometers lose their signal frequently, requiring me to reset the transmitter. No so with this one. Once it is synced, it stays synced.

I bought this to use with a smoker. It is really important to control the smoker internal temp accurately and smoker builtin thermometers generally aren't that accurate. I had read that the cables were the weak point in this unit, so I was extremely careful handling the cables. Nevertheless, after THREE uses, the grill probe stopped working. I assume it was the cable. I think this is a piece of expensive junk.

I purchased this particular rack after researching many others. I chose this one for several reasons. I thought the large pan bottom would provide a solid foundation in my grill for a big bird and I liked the fact that I could let the drippings fall through the bottom for more smoke in my grill, OR I could cover the bottom in foil to collect the drippings if I needed to them for an accompanying recipe. I also selected this one because I preferred to place the liquid (beer, Pepsi, whatever) in something other than a painted can. I also liked this rack because it was stainless steel (no rusting) and the cup is removable for easy cleaning.

My experience thus far has proven this to be the ideal rack for me. It gets four stars for two reasons. The small tab that secures the cup to the bottom pan easily snapped off on the first such rack I got, even before I cooked with it. A close examination revealed the tab was poorly attached to the bottom of the cup. Amazon quickly replaced the faulty rack, and I have babied my replacement rack so it will not break. Also, when trying to place the raw bird over the cup, the cup easily detaches, making the reattachment a three handed job. With a little practice I feel certain I can overcome this issue.

This rack cleans up easily with a little help from a stainless steel (SOS) scouring pad. If you buy one of these, I suggest inserting the cup to the bottom, and give it a gentle wiggle to be sure the attachment tab is well secured to the bottom of the cup. I would recommend this item to others with the above reservations considered.

I bought this stove to use primarily for canning. So far, it has worked flawlessly. The burners have enough output to bring water to a boil quickly, and to bring the pressure canner up to pressure quickly. The flame can be turned way down to maintain the correct pressure in the canner. Since it has three burners, I can heat jar lids, heat water in the canner, and heat stuff to hot pack all at the same time. Love it! Careful though...I got a little carried away with the flame and started to melt a pot handle. The side shelves are surprisingly sturdy, and are extremely handy for canning or blanching, when you can never have enough counter space.

This was exactly what I was looking for. It's hard to find a hose with a propane tank connector, regulator attached, and is more than 18". This was 4 feet and it works perfect. Searched numerous locations and stores to include HD and Lowes. All they carry are the 18" lengths. Additionally, this was half the price with 3 times the length. That's a bargain!

We love to grill vegetables. Had an old non-stick type pan, but it got rusted thru and was unsafe to use. I finally settled on this Grill Pan. Frankly it is the best twenty bucks I spent.

The stainless steel will discolor if heated too much, but cleaning is not too bad. The first time I used it without oiling the pan, cleaning needed quite a bit of scrubbing. I ended up using oven cleaner (Easy Off) and it worked pretty well got all the crud off. I now oil the pan before putting it on the grill and clean up is not bad. The advantage of stainless steel is that with a bit of care it will give good service and there is nothing to flake off.

I also bought the veggie basket and use both interchangeably. The lips all around are great, I just use a spatula to lift the veggies to a serving dish.

LOVE: Quality of construction; Cost; Raised lips all around; Material

HATE: Cleanup is tough, but it is no tougher than with so called non-stick pans had one.

Would I recommend it definitely; I plan to replace mine with a similar one when this one goes (or I get tired of it)

Gets a 4 star since it is hard to clean grilled on residue. The openings mean that food like fish do not slip between the grates of the grill. Heats evenly in accordance with your grill. Only downside is we have to let it soak to get residue off. Non-stick would be better.

I got this to grill veggies and other smaller stuff that might fell through the grates on my gas grill.

After the first couple of uses (and subsequently leaving the pan on the grill for a few days without cleaning it), I noticed some brown discoloration that looked like rust on the surface.

I'm still not sure if it was rust or not, but I got the pan hot and sprayed it with olive oil and wiped it down with some paper towels. That got rid of the rust color and it hasn't come back.

Now the pan is a nice dark brown color, and I just spray with oil and clean it with the brush before use. It stays on the grill or under the grill when not in use.

Other than that, it works as a pan should. Stuff cooks when you put it on there, and it doesn't stick as long as you oil it at a higher temperature than you cook at.

The first thing you'll notice about this product is that the price seems remarkably fair given the quality.

This is truly grilling made easy you can throw anything on this pan and you're good to go: veggies, baked potatoes, flakey fish.

I agree with the other reviewer about cleanup being a little tough, but truly it is no tougher than all the other stainless steel cookware we use it's all a PITA but worth it in the long run.

These seem to do the trick and they are cheap enough. The 2 gripes I have are that there is no attachment for the igniter and that there is no way to lock the 2 sliding halves together to ensure that the gas holes line up once it is in position.

NOTE: there is an adjustment for how much air the burner gets. Mine came wide open and I had to adjust it down to get a good flame.

Do not buy this!!!!The pretty lettering is just a piece of paper pasted on. The pot is just dried clay, not even sure if it was fired.

The paper washed off and so did the white paint on the clay. It is about four inches square. Too small for anything, really. I tried to return it with a complaint and was told that it was never advertized as "fired". I do not know but the word "earthenware" means an item that was fired, to me. Was severly disappointed.

I first encountered one of these at an upscale Japanese restaurant about 25 years ago. It was used to cook small chunks of raw marinated meat, raw onions, bell peppers and mushrooms right at the table. And this is exactly how I used this one.

To use, I started by holding a standard charcoal briquet over my gas stove's burner with tongs until the edges caught. Then I placed the lit starter coal in the hibachi and loosely piled about 6-8 coals on top of it. Don't overfill, as it will get too hot. They were ready in about 45 minutes. Use a plate or the like to pick up and move the hibachi as the decorative wooden stand provided is too small and the bbq gets quite warm. The hibachi can be used inside (with proper ventilation) but leaves an unpleasant smokey smell behind for hours. I'd suggest using it outside only.

Cut meat into thin strips about 2" long and marinate or rub to your taste. I used a bamboo skewer to drop 4 or 5 pieces of meat and a couple of veggie slices on the grill at a time. Cook mostly on one side until done and turn over for a minute to finish. The key is to keep the meat chunks thin. Too thick and the center will be raw. I'm going to try shrimp and salmon with pineapple slices next time. I also made a couple of dipping sauces. One mustard based (hot) and one horseradish.

The cooking surface is small (about 5" x 5") and thus not suitable for cooking for a crowd. My wife and I use it when we are too lazy to fire up the grill and have some leftover stew meat or chicken. A couple of them are great at a party for making pre-bbq appetizers with cocktails. Like a fondue but with meat. Kids love them but should be supervised.

Cleanup is easy. Let the coals burn out and dump the ashes in a safe place. The grate comes right off and can be scrubbed with soapy water and a pot scrubber. The grill body is not water safe and a dishwasher would destroy it. There is no reason to clean the body as food does not come into contact with it.

Although not Amazon Prime, shipping was free and my order arrived in 3 days. I bought 4. Two for us and the rest as gifts.
