Very, very nice grill cover for the price. Quality constructed with heavy canvas on the outside with a waterproof liner on the inside. Cover has a draw string around the bottom and straps with quick connect buckles for the legs to keep it in place during windy conditions. However, it would take a pretty big wind storm to lift this cover off as this cover is made with heavy weight material. I have had other "heavy duty" grill covers in the past that were made of a vinyl type material that did not hold up to cold winter or hot sunny summer days. This cover looks like it will hold up to the elements.

Great cover for the price fits my GMG Jb perfectly. Good price and fast service. This cover will fit just about every grill sold on the market.

This is a very well-made cover made of lasting, waterproof-backed nylon and double-stiched seams. It seems to be made to perfectly fit a Traeger Grill. At $29 this cover is an amazing buy. Compare this to the Traeger crappy black plastic cover for $49 and you will see this is a way better option.

Honest reviews on Classic Accessories Hickory Pellet Grill Cover

The Brinkmann grill mentioned in the title did not have a cover specifically fitted to it. The Classic Accessories Hickory Pellet Grill cover in medium fits perfectly. The Brinkmann chimney extends 16 inches above the grill and is 4 inches in diameter. The chimney fits the cover pocket fine. I was concerned about fit because the grill is wider than the measurement listed for the cover, by about two inches. The extra length of the cover makes up for any differences. The cover is not too big. It is not baggy. The quality of the cover is very good. It had ties at the bottom to keep it in place. The large size of this cover would be too big for the grill.

I bought this large cover for a Green Mountain "Daniel Boone" pellet grill. It fits perfectly and is made of a material that is much more heavy duty than standard covers, even the one that came with the grill. The original cover deteriorated after only two seasons but this one looks like it will last.

These are very nice and a huge improvement over the prior ceramic coated style. Perfect fit on my older D-3 body style Broilmaster Grille.

I needed to replace the rusted and disintegrating cast iron grates on my Broilmaster P3 gas grill. I was contemplating buying the replacement 3-piece cast stainless steel grates, but could not justify the cost of nearly $300! So, I let my "electrons do the walking" on "Amazon-dot-com" and found these. They looked good and the reviews were also good. So, I decided to give these a try and ordered a set from Hungry Piranha, via Amazon; using the included "standard" shipping and handling.

My order came within a day and a half! From the ad, I didn't realize that I was actually getting genuine Broilmaster replacements either. That was another "surprise and delight" feature. Then, when I opened the box, the grates were found to be very heavy-duty and they fit my 1999-vintage grill perfectly. I also like the 2-piece design over the 3-piece. All in all, I am very satisfied.

Since I am an engineer and skilled fabricator, I can tell you that I would have difficulty in making my own replacements, unless I got the material free. That's the alternative I was about to exercise, just prior to finding these. Kudos to Amazon and Hungry Piranha.

I recently purchased the Stainless Steel grids for my Broilmaster P3 grill after the porcelain finish on the original cast iron grates started to flake off. I will admit the stainless steel is much easier to clean, however, it's a totally different cooking experience vs the cast iron. The stainless steel gets hotter quicker and will burn or dry out your food if you're not careful. I learned the hard way a couple times cooking chicken breasts but then adjusted the temp to a lower setting and things have improved.

Honest reviews on Cooking Grids for T3 (Set of 2)

We really like these cooking grids. The heat evenly and are easy to clean.

After a couple months using them they are still looking good.

Previously, with the cast grids I did not seem to get the grilling I was after. Then the factory cast iron with porcelain girds started rusting, yuk! These grids don't rust, look great, and grill the food as it was meant to be grilled. The only other improvement at this time, would be a solid stainless burner, but they are not available :(

So enjoy the improved grilling experience with these affordable grids that will last a lifetime! They are way lighter, and so much easier to clean! Great grill upgrade!

I used the Cherry Chunks on a ECB for a boston butt yesterday. The wood smelled great as soon as I opened the package. The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 was because this is not actually a 5 pound bag. Its 3.75 pounds. Once I noticed that, I felt I had overpaid. While this wood is nice, I'm not convinced I need to shell out more for this than 10 pounds of charcoal.

Very disappointed in this product. I had ordered 2 bags and both of them were more like chips. It was a good thing that I had ordered 2 bags because of the size I had to use much more to get that good thick smoke going. I expected much more from something that Weber puts their name on. I have been looking around and seen that others have had similar issues. It was very good, clean wood, don't get me wrong, but if you think that you are getting chunks don't plan on it. You may get 3 good 3 inch chunks.

Best Deals for Weber Wood Chunks

I was very excited to get this, since it was to complement my WSM. I love pecan wood, but the wood I received is not of great quality. There are maybe 2-3 large chunks and the rest are chips. Also, the large chunks have bark on them, so that will have to be taken off before they go into my WSM. Also, the bag weighs 4 lbs 7 oz, NOT 5 lbs! I purchased some apple wood from Home Depot made by Charbroil. The price is around $6-7 and actually weighs 5 lbs. There are more chunks that are larger, though they still have bark on them. But they are cheaper and you get more. I strongly, strongly recommend to get your wood elsewhere and try to avoid Weber's wood. I can't believe this Weber product. I usually have great experience with Weber and love their products. Come to think of it, I have never had a problem with a Weber product until now. Again, I strongly recommend going elsewhere for your wood needs! Stay away from this Weber product!

Honest reviews on Weber Wood Chunks

I used these chunks last weekend for both baby back ribs and pulled pork. It works well and the chunks were large. I only needed 2 chunks; they were soaked one hour & gave an hours worth of smoke. Not too much smoke and flavored the meat well. I'm ordering more.

I've used approximately 4 bags of both Apple and Hickory wood chunks from Weber. Every bag has had an acceptable amount of actual chunks with very little smaller "chip" sized wood. For the price this is an excellent product.

Bristles are falling out just like the cheap paint brushes you buy at the big box stores. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy.

This is a very well made brush. With its bristles set in epoxy, there is little chance of one coming loose and ending up on whatever you are brushing. The bristles in this brush are thick and just right for brushing butter or whatever onto baked goods before baking.

From personal experience with natural bristle pastry brushes in the past, a warning: do not use this brush on a very hot surface or you will damage the end of the bristles.

I rated it 3 because my expectations were that the bristles wouldn't melt at high heat (though my expectations may be unrealistic). I use the brush to coat a fry or stir fry pan when cooking veggies. I can coat the pans when the heat gets too hot or else the bristles melt. I do like the brush though and it works better than any other bristles I've tried.

Okay, I admit it -I bought these because they had a big Weber name embossed in them. ;-)

Turns out it was a good purchase, though. The pans are much thicker and sturdier than expected. I actually went back to the package to make sure I bought the disposable ones. I've been able to get multiple uses out of them with a quick rinse, depending on the food that is cooking over them.

I use mine when I'm cooking something with indirect heat, which is a technique that Weber often recommends. I push the coal grates to the left and right sides of the grill, and put this pan in the center. Sometimes I add water if I want it to be more of a moist heat. Works especially well for putting under the rotisserie to catch drips.

These pans will save you a lot of time, when you clean your Weber.

You can even use it do make a delicious sauce/gravy for your turkey, chicken and so forth. Just add some water, onions, fresh herbs and so forth. You've got a nice fond then that can be used to many things.

Remember always to put some water in the pan when you use it. That way you avoid the smoke and smell from the burned grease that drips into the pan and it at lot easier to clean and recyle.

Yes you can wash the pan and use it again. No need to throw more out than you have to. :-)

Best Deals for Weber 3301 Large Aluminum Drip Pans

I was sick and tired of making drip pans for our grill by folding large pieces of aluminum foil... they never fit quite right, and then I had to throw them away after one use. I tried some aluminum pans from the grocery store, but they weren't the right size, and some even had tiny holes in them. Leave it to Weber to make just the right size for the kettle grill, and they are reusable! Good stuff :)

Honest reviews on Weber 3301 Large Aluminum Drip Pans

It's hard for me to fathom anyone paying the suggested retail of $15.99 for 10 drip pans. On sale, they were $5.69 making the cost, obviously, about 57 cents each, which is acceptable. They are heavy enough that you could wash them in the dishwasher and reuse them.

After reading a few of the previous reviews I was a little reluctant to purchase this item, but did becasue it was from the manufacturer. I frankly don't know what the negative reviews are all about. This product installed easy, fit my Sunbeam 340 perfectly with the fixed tubes. And when fired up works better than ever.... I recommend this as a fix to give your grill another several years!!!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Old Sunbeam 340, heavy use year round, replaced the burner a few times with a so-called "universal" from the hardware store...finally broke down and ordered an OEM part from here....took all of 15 minutes to install, using the "bendable" tubes...screws didnt strip, connections tight, and the tubes didn't break. Hardest part was getting down underneath to make sure the thing was "set" right...might've been able to do that standing, but I wanted to "make sure" it was seated right..considerable improvement from the "universals"... Had to read the instructions couple of times to realize you use one set of instructions for one set of tubes, not both, and then you have the old "extra parts" for which theres no use...

I have owned my grill for 12 years, and I put it together myself originally. This replacement burner kit came with both flexible and solid venturi tubes and all washers and screws needed to install it easily. I ended up using the flexible ones. My best girlfriend and I had it all put together in 5 minutes using only a phillips head screwdriver. We turned on the gas and lit it up... success! If two middle-aged chicks can make it work, anyone can!

I've done plenty of research and seen many grills before picking the 'Char-Griller Pro 3001'. I think if you really want a solid grill that lasts forever, get a Weber. For me paying $700+ for a similar Weber isn't an option. You also should beware of the inexpensive stainless steel grills (anything under $400). Their not stainless, the metal is thin & flimsy and they start showing signs of rust in a matter of months. I even saw some demos with rust stains?? This shouldn't be a problem with the finish on the Char-Griller. Plus I noticed it ranked well in Consumer Reports. I picked mine up at Menards for $149.00 (on 06/26/09).

At times it was challenging to put together. The pictures and directions could've been more descriptive on which way things face when you put them together (ie: the legs). Plus the location of parts within the box. I had to find parts that I needed early in the installation that were wrapped up with things late in the installation?! Once you get it together it's pretty solid. It starts easily and heats up fast. For me in less than 5-10 min. on high the temperature gage was at 650 degrees (on a windy 70 degree day in Chicago). The grates are porcelain coated cast iron. That's a feature you want to look for in a grill. You'll see those on higher priced models. The grates have a side for 'Searing' and a side for 'Grilling'. They cleanup easily and give GREAT grill marks. Now mind you my last grill was a 12 year old 'Char-Broil' that was shot and I've only used this one twice. But from what I can tell (so far) unless you want to pay a ton for something better this is a great grill for the price.

Update: 07-27-09

It's still a great grill for the price. I have one thing I never liked and if you're coming from an older grill like me you should be aware of this. Older gas grills (5 or 10 years) had the burners right along the bottom of the grill base with a metal shield over the top. You then had 5 inches or so between the shield and the grilling grates. This would give you space for 'Lava Rock', 'Ceramic Brickets' and some wood chips if you choose. The rocks or bricks would catch grease and reduce flare ups. To keep the grill clean you change the rock out once a season or so. NONE OF THE NEW GRILLS (including the Char-Griller) are setup like this. They ALL have the burners and shields right below the grilling grates. And you have no room for anything below the burners. So you need to be sure to keep the bottom of the grill CLEAN and CLEAR of debris (drip trays too). As I stated before this grill heats fast and puts out a good flame. Well after cooking about 10 times or so I had some debris and an oily film on the bottom from cooking & basting things. Yep you guessed it, FIRE, FIRE! Luckily I caught it after just a couple minutes of cooking and shut it down and put everything out. I cleaned out the bottom turned it back on and it was fine. So be safe and keep it clean!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

After lots of research settled on this grill and at under $200, nothing compares. After three months of use, looks and works like new. The cast iron construction leads to even heat, the burners work well, there are trays on both sides (one is a side burner with a flat cover), and it does a great job of grilling.

The drip TRAY is easy to reach (as opposed to a hole that a can hangs under) and the barrel construction also lends to the even heat of the grill.

The smoker attachment is a nice idea for those who want the flexibility and convenience of a gas grill with the option for smoke/charcoal; although I have not used it I think I will be purchasing the attachment before next Thanksgiving (nothing like a smoked turkey on the grill).

Cons: Assembly is a little bit of work and is best accomplished with two people. It is not something you want to do in a hurry and while not easy, it wasn't an overwhelming challenge either. In other words, yes, you have to do a little bit of thinking and it really helped to have another person to verify understanding and help to hold pieces. If you feel you are mechanically challenged, could be frustrating, but don't be scared away. Assembly time for two people who don't do much if any mechanical work, was about 90 leisurely minutes.

With so many nice-looking but cheaply made grills with cheap parts out there, the Char-Griller stands out with it's simple efficient design and comparatively heavy parts.

Best Deals for Char-Griller 3001 Grillin' Pro 40,800-BTU Gas Grill

If you are looking for a good gas grill and you are on a budget, then the $170 for this is probably a good buy. Frankly I don't see the need for $500, $800, $2000 grills that are mostly name buying or grill envy inducing. You buy a grill to cook food not to be backyard bling. If you one of those huge backyard million dollar mansion types, then your not reaidng this anyway and move on to you Weber's and such. For us down to earth people this will suffice.

I've read alot of reviews saying that the directions are utterly useless and hard to understand. I don't know if Char-griller re-wrote the directions or what but I didn't find them difficult to follow. Maybe if you are the type that only looks at the pictures to assemble things, you might have a little prblems, are they are all in grey scale and not color, but even the picies are marked with stickers saying things like, "this side faces inside" or "this is the long wired burner tube". Sometime you might even feel alittle insulted that they tell you the burned tube has a longer wire attached because its some 4 inches longer and VERY obvious. But the directions have words besides pictures and they are quite clear on what to do and what pieces you need. Plus the screws/bolts/washers are very nicely packaged with sizes printed on both sides of the pack.

I'm not mechanically inclined by anymeans, but save your wallet some heartache and put it together yourself. all you need is one phillips head screw driver (maybe a pliers for when you attach the warming grate). But other than that its simple to assemble, eventhough it took just over two hours doing it by myself. But even the directions tell you that you need two people. Well you don't. The hardest part is getting the cart legs to stay put when your attaching the all and connecting them.

There was only one piece that I had to bend slightly to make it fit and that was the front panel. There was alittle too much bend in the top of the piece but once I bent it down about 10 degrees it fit perfectly. As for the rest of the grill, everything lined up perfectly and went together without any naughty words needing to be uttered.

This grill heats up very quickly, but then again I've never had a gas grill before so maybe everyone does, but I can get the temp to 600+ in around 5 minutes.

The one thing that I noticed is that there seems to be quite a bit of manufacturing oil residue. And it is real sticky when you putting the top and bottom grill barrels on. The directions say to run it for 15 minutes with the ild closed to get rid of it, but there is still quite a bit left. Maybe I just got an oil happy factory cutter, but I won't speculate on that.

The surface area is quite large for the over all size of the grill. Most grills seem to be wide and shallow where as this is quite deep and could be an optical illusion, but nice size for my family of four.

I'll update with more comments when I get a few meals put on this.

Over all I am very happy with the grill and my decision to assemble it myself.

The three piece grate system seems to stay in place well enough and should present a problem. They are also porcelain coated cast iron and should hold the heat nicely and be easy enough to clean. Another cleaning feature I like is the easy to reach drip pan. some people have written that it doesn't drain well, but I can't comment on that yet, but will in an update post later. The nice sized pull out pan seems large enough to not have to worry about it overflowing except in the large of cookouts doing multiple full loads.

I was very suprised at the weight of this grill for the cost. This looks and feels like a heavy charcoal grill (probably since Char-griller is more known for that type of grill). I liked it better than the shiny, "polish me every weekend" looking cookers out there and it lends itself to being rather manly in appearance as apposed to a lot of the fairy foo-foo stuff out there. The box weighed around 90 pounds and assembled with the tank on it it still sits around the same weight, so I don't think anyone short of tornado ally dwellers need worry about it blowing over, even with a cover on it.

I would have liked to be able to have those lava rocks or similar things in the bottom of the grill to help against flare ups from the food juices but there doesn't seem to be alot of room to put stuff like that in there as the heat shields are within a few inches of the grates. I remember a friends older grill have lots of room and the burners/heat shields were under all the lava rocks and it looked nice and it helped with flare-ups quite a bit, but it seems all the grills are made like this now. Hmm. I wonder why.

One thing I'd like to see changed is the thin side tray. Not so much because it feels flimsy, because it feels solid enough to hold stuff, but when you move the grill, I'd like to see something alittle more robust to grab hold of to move this 90+ pounds around with.

In closing, if you want a gas grill, don't have alot of money, want a masculine look, buy this. remember its the quality of the cook that makes a good meal and not spending alot of money on asthestics.

Anyway, I'm off to the store to buy some grilling food so I can update this later.

Honest reviews on Char-Griller 3001 Grillin' Pro 40,800-BTU Gas Grill

I have grilled on gas grills for close to 40 years and decided not to rebuild the Brinkman I had owned for about 10 years again. I was never all that happy with it anyway. I looked at lots of Grills and read all the reviews I could find.

My price limit was $200, due to the effect of the economy on my business in the last few years. I found my Char Griller 3001 at Lowes, and brought it home fully assembled, so cannot speak to assembly problems. What finally tipped me toward the Brinkman was that it was one of the few LP grills I found that could hit upwards of 600°F in less than 10 minutes under nearly any conditions. It actually hit 650° in under 5 min. at an ambient temperature of 80° for me. The fact that this is a LP grill with no open back like almost all the others, and the very heavily constructed barrel shape with two stacks on the top, keeps the heat in the grill, where you want it.

The first thing I used the grill for, after seasoning it according to instructions, was to smoke 10 lbs of chicken leg quarters. I put a smoker box with wood chips and chunks above the left burner, and dropped a Bush's bean can over the stack on the left, to hold the smoke in better. Once the wood began smoking, I turned the left burner from high to medium. The middle burner was off during the whole cook and the right burner I kept on low. This arrangement kept the temperature around 425°. I experienced one small flare up near the back of the right burner, but there was enough room, using the grates and shelf, to move the chicken away from the flare up temporarily, and it went out quickly, once I put the lid back down. Due to only having one stack open, the flare up was more of a "smoker" than a big flame, and the quality of the chicken didn't suffer at all, like the burned pieces of chicken that I often got on other grills, where a flare up turns into huge flames instead of mostly smoke. The chicken took about 50 minutes, turning and moving the pieces as needed. It was easily as good as chicken done on my "low and slow" charcoal and wood smoker.

My next project was grilling 10 lbs of rib tips. I again used both outside burners on low to medium.... no smoker box or wood chips, but only one stack open. The rib tips spent most of their time over the middle of the grill or on the top shelf, putting each piece over a burner for long enough to get a nice sear on both sides. I maintained a temperature of 450° throughout the cook, until the rib tips were all done to an internal temperature of 189°. Once again, some minor flare ups, due tho the greasiness of some of the pieces, but they were more smoky than anything, creating no big scramble to keep the meat from burning up.

The tips turned out tender and juicy, but putting them in my smoker for three hours or more and bringing them up to the same temperature more slowly tenderizes the meat even more. Still, great results for a gas grill, when time is limited.

I ordered a 3055 grill cover from Amazon, as Lowes doesn't carry them. In the first week before the cover came, it rained three days, but there were no problems with the electronic ignition and no rust starting that I could find. As others have noted, there is a brace that keeps you from accessing the valve on the LP tank easily. I'd rather have it be functional than pretty, so I removed the little clip that holds the gas line to the left front leg of the grill, and set the tank under the left shelf on a 4" high concrete block. Other than that engineering oversight, I think this is the best grill I've ever owned.

Added 9/20/11

This grill still really rocks! I've done everything from Chicken to Spare ribs and country style ribs. Great sear, and amazingly juicy results. Short cooking time compared to any other grills I've had. The minor flare ups burn out so quickly due to the high temperature of the heat shields, that they contribute more to the flavor than burn the meat.

Make sure to clean the grill by running all burners full blast until it heats up to 600°F then turn down so it stays around 600 for a total of about 8 minutes. Once the grill cools, remember to empty the drip pan before the grease hardens. Do Not leave the grill unattended while cleaning, as if the temp goes beyond 650° before everything's all "burnt off", it will ignite..... I mean the whole thing! I did that once and had to leave it burn itself out after turning the burners off. Burned off a bit of the paint on one end right where the lid meets the base of the grill. Hi Temp black paint fixed that. Now I keep a second bean can handy, so in case it ever happens again, I can drop a can on both stacks, killing the burners and the air flow at the same time. You couldn't do that on a typical gas grill with a wide open back!

This is an edit after owning this grill for at least 10 months now.(June 6, 2012)

Every now and then you need to remove the heat reflectors, and take a big scraper or food turning blade to the inside of the bottom and scrape everything you can into the drip pan. It's rather difficult, but if you don't, the whole thing will catch fire while heating it up to 600 degrees(or more.... it gets there quickly!) to clean the grates and heat reflectors.

If I'm doing something like a whole chicken, or a brisket, I can drop cans over both stacks and turn the heat down as low as it will go. It still holds the temp at about 400 degrees, which makes it possible to do a whole brisket in just a few hours when I don't have the time to tend my charcoal and wood smoker all day long. I've never before had a grill that would maintain high temps so easily and while consuming such small amounts of gas. Once I mastered it, the meat is juicer and better tasting than ever before because it seals the goodness right in!

Originally bought from Lowes. Had no trouble assembly, but instructions were not good. Having assembled a few grills in the past sort of know how things went together. The grill cooked well and everything was easy to regulate etc. The sheet metal that formed the base was bent in one area but I made it work...this metal was very thin and it showed it when the full propane tank was put on it. The side burner almost useless; it seemed like the vertical distance between the burner and grate there was too much and even on high it was hard to get consistently hot enough. Had a lot of flare ups with this grill even with temp medium or below with burgers, etc(sometimes pretty serious ones,as in having to remove all food out of there as it was a raging inferno inside) and you have to pay VERY close attention to this. The grill is difficult to clean. the area under the burners is hard to get to and keep scraped out...the whole grill nearly burned up once because of a flame-up there, and the stuff doesn't drain out of there nearly as well as it should but will just pool there over time. After three years, the brackets holding the drip pan have rusted away and the brackets holding the flavorizing bars have rusted away and the flavorizers themselves are rusting away. this grill kept covered the entire time. the burners themselves have held up but look like they could be replaced easily by the standard tube burner replacement seen for 15 bucks or so at wally or HD. sadly, going to have to toss the grill because of the rust. It was covered, but I do live in a humid climate. no serious complaint, i did not pay much for this and did not expect to get very many years out of it. This grill lasted for 3 years under a stored covered patio, but wheeled outside to cook, but has to be retired due to severe rust....the flavorizers now just sit on the burners themselves(now making grill unusable) due to the brackets that once held them about an inch over the burners are gone from rust and the drip pan fell off due to rusting brackets too. I have considered drilling holes and putting in some stainless or brass nuts and bolts etc to try to serve as holders, but nah, the difficulty cleaning and maintaining under the burners and the serious flame-up problems I've had cooking burgers on this have made me tired of fooling with it and now am looking elsewhere. I will not buy another one.

Do not buy this!!!!The pretty lettering is just a piece of paper pasted on. The pot is just dried clay, not even sure if it was fired.

The paper washed off and so did the white paint on the clay. It is about four inches square. Too small for anything, really. I tried to return it with a complaint and was told that it was never advertized as "fired". I do not know but the word "earthenware" means an item that was fired, to me. Was severly disappointed.

I first encountered one of these at an upscale Japanese restaurant about 25 years ago. It was used to cook small chunks of raw marinated meat, raw onions, bell peppers and mushrooms right at the table. And this is exactly how I used this one.

To use, I started by holding a standard charcoal briquet over my gas stove's burner with tongs until the edges caught. Then I placed the lit starter coal in the hibachi and loosely piled about 6-8 coals on top of it. Don't overfill, as it will get too hot. They were ready in about 45 minutes. Use a plate or the like to pick up and move the hibachi as the decorative wooden stand provided is too small and the bbq gets quite warm. The hibachi can be used inside (with proper ventilation) but leaves an unpleasant smokey smell behind for hours. I'd suggest using it outside only.

Cut meat into thin strips about 2" long and marinate or rub to your taste. I used a bamboo skewer to drop 4 or 5 pieces of meat and a couple of veggie slices on the grill at a time. Cook mostly on one side until done and turn over for a minute to finish. The key is to keep the meat chunks thin. Too thick and the center will be raw. I'm going to try shrimp and salmon with pineapple slices next time. I also made a couple of dipping sauces. One mustard based (hot) and one horseradish.

The cooking surface is small (about 5" x 5") and thus not suitable for cooking for a crowd. My wife and I use it when we are too lazy to fire up the grill and have some leftover stew meat or chicken. A couple of them are great at a party for making pre-bbq appetizers with cocktails. Like a fondue but with meat. Kids love them but should be supervised.

Cleanup is easy. Let the coals burn out and dump the ashes in a safe place. The grate comes right off and can be scrubbed with soapy water and a pot scrubber. The grill body is not water safe and a dishwasher would destroy it. There is no reason to clean the body as food does not come into contact with it.

Although not Amazon Prime, shipping was free and my order arrived in 3 days. I bought 4. Two for us and the rest as gifts.

Heat up some coals and hang around heating up some pupus awesome! Fun for everyone and the food tastes so much better after it's been sitting around for a while.

It is much smaller than I had anticipated and am at a loss for what I might use it for. It's good as a room decoration or candle holder, but not large enough to cook anything.

i'll start this review by saying I have sold grills for years and am a huge fan of the big guns such as Weber. Sadly do to living in a condo i can only have electric grills. In the past Char-Broil has made some sub-par items. Not this time. This is THE best electric grill option for under five hundred bucks. the people bashing it have obviously never grilled or assembled somthing as much as legos.

1ITS EASY TO PUT TOGETHERAll these people on here complain as to how hard it is to put together. WHY? It took me a bit over an hour and a half working slowly and I didnt even curse once. Thats a miracles in and of it self. Simple tools, easy instructions, and not a ton of steps. There is a bit of lining up holes at one point but thats it. If you even have the slightest ability to put things together you'll be fine. Putting together Ikea furniture is WAY harder than this.

2IT HEATS UP BLAZING HOTAnother complaint was that it didnt heat above 150 degrees. Mine will get to 600 degrees if left for a bit, within 20 minutes probably. It says in the manual don't keep lifting the hood it lets the heat out. This is true. If you keep it closed you should have not a single problem.AND I even use an extension chord which it suggests against and it still heats fine. Cooked a full london broil in under 12 minutes.

3ITS ELECTRIC NOT CHARCOALKeep in mind its an electric grill. Its not gonna taste like a charcoal or gas grill. Wood chips help but its still not the same. But it is your best option by far if you dont have another option.

This grill is awesome for what it is. Ignore the bad press seriously. Char Broil has done right by this one. If your in an apartment or condo and dont want to drop $500 dollars on stainless steel electric monsters this is your grill. Happy Grilling

The Bottom Line: 3 Stars and Rising.

The Patio Bistro does its intended purpose. I like this grill the more I use it. It gets, hot, is easy to clean, and has a nice large cooking area. With time my rating may improve as the painfull memory of assebly fades into the past. This would be a nice choice for use where charcoal and propane grills are not allowed.

As of this writing I have owned the Patio Bistro Grill for a little over 1 month. I own and have used various charcoal and gas grills, smokers, and barbeques over the past 30 years. I consider myself as very experienced in outdoor grilling.

This remainder of this review will be in two parts.

First the Good! The Patio Bistro Grill Does Cook Food quite Nicely: 4 Stars

Once assembled the Patio Bistro is quite a nice little grill. It has a nice large grilling surface, and heats quite adequately for grilling and roasting. Once the lid is closed, the temperatures easily rise to over 400F.

I never let it get much higher than that, though I expect it would get above 500F if left on its own.

Heating time is quite reasonable. When compared with a charcoal grill it is very quick (if you include the time it takes to light the charcoal).

I have roasted chickens, grilled hamburgers and steaks, and, using a non-stick pizza pan as a griddle have cooked bacon, eggs, and toast quite easily.

The grill surface is fairly generous in size for an electric grill; useable for cooking a dozen burgers at a single time. It even comes with a removable warming rack located at the rear of the grill.

The knobbed electric dial used to specify cooking temperature has a nice range, and the included on/off light is usefull for levelling off interior temperatures once they have been reached.

The grill surface is relatively easy to clean off, and cools quickly when unplugged. The greatest virtue of Electric Grills is in not having to buy, carry, store or ignite fuels, and KNOWING that the grill is turned off, simply by ungplugging the unit.

Second the Not So Good: Assembly: 1 star

As other reviewers have stated, this grill is unnecessarily difficult to put together.

In this day and age of premanufactured and buyer assembled products, there should be no need to designe something that requires so many different tools, different fasteners, and lengthy instructions.

It took me the better part of 90 minutes to assemble this correctly. The instructions were only marginal.

Also, Once Assembled the whole product can be a bit wobbly, so you will spend time tightening and retightening nuts and bolts.

The Bottom Line: 3 Stars and Rising.

Best Deals for Char-Broil Patio Bistro Electric Grill

As a condo dweller, I've been a fan of the earlier model Patio Caddie for years. Reliability, fast/high heat generation, and never running out of fuel have been huge advantages. I've known about infrared grills for years, but knew they cost up over a grand. 'Saw this new Infrared Bistro model and had to have it! I gave my beloved Caddie to my son (who loves it!) and got this new model.

Putting the grill together was logical and straight forward. It did not go together instantly, but what's the big deal? I took it step-by-step and it came together just fine. When completed, the Bistro looks good; much more substantial and better styled than the ol' Caddie. Plus, the grill size is substantially larger.

'Plugged it in, turned up the power, and WOW! This sucker was up over 550 degress in about ten minutes. As I'd done before, put a small handfull of hickory chips into a foil pouch, poked a few holes in it, and tossed it on the grill and closed the lid. In a few more minutes the awesome aroma of hickory smoke wafted through the patio. Our first test was marinated sirloin skewers. As the meat hit the grill the intense sizzle was terrific. These cooked fast and clean, with that terrific hickory smoke essence.

I've now been using this grill almost daily for a couple of weeks with chicken, beef, pork, veggies, and shrimp and I love it! Guests are amazed.

Honest reviews on Char-Broil Patio Bistro Electric Grill

I read ALL the reviews before purchasing this grill. I was sick and tired of my gas grill not being able to function in the cold, not being able to provide a high enough pressure to cook anything, running out of propane. I didn't even use it last summer! I saw this grill on display at a store and it was love at first sight. Then I started researching it. Then I bought it.

Assembly: The instructions are the easiest, best-written instructions for assembly of anything I have ever seen. And the nuts and bolts are all individually packaged and labeled so you know you have everything to start off with. It took me an hour to assemble, watching TV at the same time, leaving to check e-mail intermittantly. Someone who was hurrying through it could do it much faster. I never had any questions at all about the instructions.

Ease of use: I have to use a fairly long extension cord, about 20 feet, to reach the grill in an area near my porch light. It very quickly heats up to 550Fsay about 15 minutes. I get nice grill marks. The cooking surface is simple to clean; it virtually just wipes right off.

Small footprint: it takes up very little space on my patio. I ordered the specific cover for it and it looks very nice. Much better than even the smallest gas grill and big propane tank.

Lightweight yet sturdy: It feels well-put together, not fragile and rickety. I am very happy with the looks and quality.

It's not gas. Once you understand that this is a sweet grill with plenty of cooking area. I have had this for three weeks--done dogs, burgers and a pork loin. Everything cooked to perfection.

Construction: Great assembly manual. It said "about an hour" and that's what it was. After opening the package I spent 10 minutes familiarizing myself with the parts and procedures. After that actual assembly was 45 minutes. I'm no mechanical genius, but I can follow directions.

Production: If you need instantaneous response a la gas, this grill is not for you. If you can accept a slower heat up (15-20 MIN.) this will suit you just fine. I have found that the best way to work with it is to preheat the grill about 25-50 degrees above your desired cooking temperature. After you place your food on the grill and close the lid it will be just about where you want it. There is no doubt that the grill takes longer to recover lost heat from opening the lid than a gas grill would, particularly after you put your food on, which is why you want to preheat it higher than you need. However, I have not found that to be a problem. It's all about the learning curve---and it's just not that steep.

I am quite happy to have freed myself from the gas grill and would buy this again in a heartbeat.

UPDATE: After going through a winter season with this grill I'm going to have to give it up. Here in coastal NC we grill year round (avg. Jan. high, 52), but this grill just wasn't up to the challenge when the temp dipped at all. Way too long to heat up and absolutely impossible to get back to temp after opening the lid to turn the meat. My original review still stands if all you do is grill "in season".

FYI: My new solution is a Weber Q120. Small, portable and no big propane tank. Uses those disposable tanks you can get in any hardware store. Fired it up just to test it. 300 degrees in 5 minutes. Full review in a couple of weeks...and an update after winter. ;-)

Although the description on Amazon says that the display is backlit, it is not: I ordered this item only to discover that it is not indeed backlit (confirmed by the packaging, manual and on the manufacturer's website), but also that at 11" it's considerably shorter than most thermometer forks, which will likely lead to some very hot fingers over the grill.

I'd suggest looking at the same company's model DTF212 CDN TempFork Thermometer (also available on Amazon), which is only a little more at $19, but is almost twice as long and does have a backlit display, along with a bunch of other features that may come in handy.

I purchased these for my husband after his last pair broke. It works very well and is very well designed. One thing I want to point out on these is that the prongs are one solid piece. With hubbie's old pair, the tips of the prongs were a second piece and they eventually broke off.

I enjoy using this, but I wish I would have gotten a longer handle. I didn't realize how hot my grill is it takes about 3-5 seconds for the temperature to register, and in that time my hand gets hot. I suppose a BBQ mitt will help with that issue.

With that said, this is absurdly easy to use, and fun. Just stick the fork in the meat, and in a few seconds you'll know the temperature.

If I ever find a longer-handled fork, I'll give this to my neighbor. But until then, he can't have it--this is mine!

Honest reviews on CDN DBBQ212 Digital Thermometer BBQ Fork

Up until just recently I had been using a Sharper Image All-in-One Grill Fork which I liked very much. Unfortunately it was damaged beyond repair when it was accidentally immersed in water so I purchased a CDN DBBQ212 Digital Thermometer BBQ Fork as a replacement. Right out of the package the construction appeared to be a bit dodgy, but I was willing to give it a shot based on the reasonable price. As soon as the "on" button was depressed, my suspicions were confirmed. It didn't work, or at least, not the way it was supposed to. Several lines that make up the 3 digit characters were not working, making it almost impossible to tell the difference between the numbers 8, 3 and 0, 5, and 6, or 7 and 9. The only reason these forks exists is to give accurate cooking temperatures, and if you can't tell the difference between 185° and 135°, what's the point? Also, even though the only button is labeled "on/off" it only appears to turn the digital display on; the off function doesn't work. After several days of looking at the crippled digital display I pulled the batteries to put it out of its misery.

The temp comes up fine and seems to be accurate. It's a bit small and feels a bit cheap. It does the job though. I have seen nicer looking ones for less, but I have no Idea how well they work as far as getting temp.
