I received the product with the incorrect item inside the box. I ordered a red grill but there was a green one inside the box. The outside of the box indicated the item inside should be red, so this was obviously a packaging problem somewhere. I had little time for the exchange as I had ordered the grill for an upcoming party. When I called Amazon to discuss the issue, at first the customer service rep said that they could just ship out a replacement for us with quick delivery( I don;t remember if it was next day or 2 day delivery but it was a short period). Then she said no she could not do that because Amazon no longer stocks this product. Later the product manufacturer told me they just sent a huge shipment to Amazon for this product when I called about a question on the setup. When I asked the Amazon Customer Service Rep whether Amazon could arrange a shipment from one of the other online vendors that it advterises this product for on Amazon which indicated they had the item in stock, she said no. I had to explain myself several times before she understood my request. When it finally came down to it, she said they could make those arrangements but that she could not guarantee next day delivery...even though she never even contacted one of those vendors to ask if it was possible...Then she told me we would have to pay extra charges if we wanted the correction made with a quick shipment. I finally ran out of time to deal with the person on the phone and the incorrect item and decided to keep it. It was a very frustrating 30-45 minutes of my time with the customer service person who was a very bad listener, kept interrupting me and talking over me and was not willing to attempt to look for creative solutions to the problem. Putting the grill together was a moderately sized task. It was designed for everything to fit together precisely and if there are any deviations in the alignment or if the product is slightly bent in spots, as mine was, you have to try to bend the parts or redrill bigger holes... All in all it took about an hour and were unable to get at least one of the screws into the product ...The final product is great though. We use the grill at least 3 days a week and love it. It heats up very well and fast and it looks great. I would suggest one enhancement to the product, if the left and right 'side tables' could collapse down to the sides or tuck into the back somehow, it would be ideal for making it less obtrusive in smaller spaces like ours.

This is a copy of my review for the exact same GREEN model of this grill. For some reason they are not listed as one item with color choices so I have posted the review for the other colors, having actually purchased the Green model.

Having now had this grill for over a year, I would describe it as a decent quality grill for a fair price. I use this grill frequently, probably twice a week or more, even in winter. If you are an occasional user, you may find this a more ideal product.

The Good Points-

1) It looks great and is perfect if you don't want and over testosteroned massive stainless grill on your property.

2) The quality and functionality is decent.

3) If you get a hold of a real person at Minden, they are very nice and will go out of their way to help you.

4) Heats up very quickly.

The Bad Points-

1) You MUST purchase separately the stainless steel grate. The included enameled grate will wear out in less than one season.

2) The wood handle will also become moldy in less than a season. I extended it's life by using some spray varnish on it, but I would still prefer the stainless steel one (which I've seen at Williams-Sonoma on a version of this grill that only they sell).

3) The spatter plates become quickly rusty. Minden was nice enough to send me (essentially for free) 3 stainless steel ones.

4) Some of the bolts which hold the unit together become rusty over time, they should be made of stainless steel, but they aren't.

5) The grill does not evenly heat, and has hot and cold spots, which over time if you understand where they are you can compensate for them.

They really have the makings of a great grill with some small modifications, I would encourage them to change some parts to stainless steel (described above) and attempt to resolve the unevenness of the heating surface.

******UPDATE April 8, 2012********

After having this grill for about two years, I sadly have to conclude that it's not something I would buy again.

The rust has continued to the point where critical functioning parts are failing. The bracket for the trough which supplies gas from burner to burner has failed, causing the trough to fall off. I've managed to stick it back using some rocks so I can still use the grill.

The hot and cold spot issue seems to have gotten worse, and it's also now hard for me to get the grill started without pressing the start button 10 or 15 times.

Additionally, the threaded plastic gas tank hookup broke in half, and I had to replace it with a new one.

After doing some math, I've concluded that the cost of ownership of this grill is simply too high.

At 479, lasting two years, means 249/year (this does not include the MANDATORY cost of buying the Stainless Steel Grate)

***Conclusion: I've pretty much settled on purchasing the American Outdoor Grill Model 25PC (with back burner). It's basically the same physical size, but at 1650 is considerable more expensive. However, nearly every part on the grill is guaranteed for 10 years, with some parts being guaranteed for longer. Even if one figures that the all stainless steel, made in America grill will last for 10 years, the cost of ownership per year is only $165.

The Minden Grill is basic, but well designed and built to last. Assembly was easy, though having a helper around would be a good idea with the heavier components like the grill top. The grill heats quickly reaching about 550 in about 10 minutes. Temperature control is effective and simple. I like the modular approach to accessories. So far cleanup has been a snap. It is a relatively compact grill with clean lines. It continues to exceed my expectations and represents a real value in quality grills at its price point.

I purchased these through Amazon Warehouse Deals and saved some money. I have to replace the burners and flame tamers on my Members Mark grill about every 4 years. I've read that the burners rust out quicker if you keep the grill covered (which I always do). I look at it as a cost of doing "busness". I love cooking outside and take better care of my grill than I do my house!!!.

It's amazing how much better the grill works with new parts.

Nice Grill we live at the Beach so it was very Important to get a stainless steel grill, with stainless steel burners. with have cook on this grill a few times now and we find it excellent in preparing our barbecue dishes. Everything went great with unpacking and installing one of their measurements is off for the depth of the product but you always want the product before you put into your island any way to check the measurements. we rated this a 5 but we did have to adjust the back spark igniter before it would lite that was the only thing that I can sy bad about the product. have fun!

I've had my Lion 32inch grill for about a year now and have no complaints. The grill arrived very well packaged, was easy to put together, very heavy and well built. A durable product that I really expect to last. I live at the beach so a higher gauge stainless steel bbq was a necessity. Without the 304 gauge, the fog and sea air eats bbq's apart in no time.

After extensive reviews of bbq's I determined that this was a mid/high range bbq at a price was still reasonable. I believe the founder of Lion BBQ's broke off from Bull BBQ's to start this company. You'll notice many similarities between the products. I didn't want to go Lynx, FireMagic, DCS, etc given the price was typically double. This grill is built well, that's what I wanted.

It's well equipped to produce the heat that I need to sear a piece of meet, but also has a fairly wide range of temperture control, allowing me to put 1 or 2 of the 4 burners on low and achieve a very mild temperature to slow cook anything you can imagine. I will ding the grill very so slightly for heat distribution I've noticed that the outside of the two burners closest to the exterior shell of the bbq run the warmest. I'm no scientist, but it appears it's because the walls of the bbq help channel even more heat in that particular area. All it really means is that the 2-3 grill grate lines furthest to the outside run a bit warmer. For me, it's okay b/c I know where i need to put my meat if i need a higher temperture. That said, I've cooked on DCS, Lynx, and FireMagic bbq's and all have had some degree of hotspots. You just need to know your grill.

Extras: the grill does come with a rotisserie which i've used a bunch. It works great. Did a Prime Rib for Xmas dinner and it worked like a champ. I do chickens all the time with no issues at all. The rotisserie burner in the back is well built and dishes out nice even heat (Don't forget to take the warming rack out). The grill also comes with a griddle Love this feature. Well built, thick griddle that we use all the time to cook pizza's, scallops, shrimp, etc. Still waiting to bring the family out and cook breakfast on it:)

The cover that comes w/ the bbq is okay, not great. It only covers the top of the grill, not the entire grill top to ground. No big deal, a cover is relatively cheap and I'll put it on the Xmas list.

Customer Service I've called Lion several times w/ random questions and always had someone pick up the phone within a ring or two. Very helpful.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looked to spend between $1300-$1800 on a grill.

I received these warped as another reviewer also said. Because they are bowed (concave) they do not lay flat on the grill. I am thinking this is a defect. If you flip them over the lay flat in the corners, but then they are still bowed (convex) in the middle. What a hassle to have to try to figure out if this is a defect from original company and to return such a heavy item. I also fear that returning and getting a replacement product will just give me another set of warped or bowed cooking grates. Other than the warped issue...they look great and are of good quality.

Size was correct for my grill, I like the glossy porcelain finish. Only downside the grates were warped slightly, though this did not impact fit much, and they grill just fine.

These pellets are great. They don't stay going well on their own in an A-Mazen-Pellet-Smoker (AMNPS) but as stated in the directions fill the bottom 1/2 of each row with maple or oak pellets, and the top 1/2 with cherry. The cherry imparts quite a sweet flavor and is not overpowered by the oak or maple.

My first time using pellets vs chips. I like the convenience, they seem to last longer and at a bit over 1$ per pound they are significantly less expensive. I have used these pellets in my homemade* AMNPS (pellet smoker). At first I couldn't keep the pellets lit during a hot smoke. This may have been due to extra humidity from my water pan, humidity in my pellets, or not letting the pellets burn long enough before blowing them out. Since then, I have done a couple cold smokes with no problems. I put the pellets in the microwave for a minute or two (watch that they don't start on fire!) and I let the pellets burn longer. I will try these changes on my next hot smoke, but leave the water pan in. I also read that cherry is usually blended with other woods because it has a hard time keeping itself lit. However with my method above, I've had no problems with the pellets burning with just cherry. I will definitely be getting other flavors from this band.

*I purchased a 22 GA, 36x40 perforated sheet of stainless steel on Amazon and was able to make 8 copies of the AMNPS. I wanted 2 and I wanted to give some as gifts, so this was much more economical than spending $40 a piece. However if you only need one or two, buy them from Todd (the maker of the AMNPS) because they are definitely worth it. It just happened that my situation warranted spending the time to cut, bend, and weld my own.

My only complaint about these pellets is that I have to order them in a 40 lb. bag in order to get a good price. I hate 40 lb. bags, they are heavy to lug around and awkward to use.

As for the pellets, they are just fine. They have the nice mild flavor that you would expect from cherry. Oddly, the reddening of beef that is typical of cherry smoke seemed less pronounced with these pellets than with most of the other cherry pellets I have used. Different varieties maybe? The pellets seemed a tad larger than Traeger pellets but went through with no problems.

The bag was delivered with a couple of holes torn in it, but as I usually store the pellets in a plastic bucket or bin, it wasn't a big problem.

These do the job, sort of. They're cheaply made (thus the price) and I wish I would have spent a little more money for nicer ones. They're really narrow, so salt goes on your table and not in the tray. Plus they're pretty shallow so they tip easily. They're not quite long enough either making pickig up the corn with handles slightly difficult. They're thin plastic but that doesn't appear to be a problem. We'll see how long I tolerate them before more substantial ones are purchased.

These lightweight, plastic corn dishes are the right size and shape to hold most ears of corn (even with the holders plugged into the ends of the cobs), but when you try to spin the corn to redistribute the butter, they roll over, too. They are basically curved with four very tiny pegs on the bottom. There's no stability. If you move the corn or the dish with the corn in it...they just tip over. For this reason, they're going to the thrift shop. Thank goodness it wasn't a large waste of money, but it was still a waste of money.

I can not believe that an electric grill is this awesome. Most electric grills are similar to the George Forman products, that can in no way rival true outdoor charcoal grilling. I was skeptical at first, but decided since it was only $60.00 and charcoal and gas grills are forbidden on the patio, I'd give it a try. My grill heats up to a sizzle in less than 1 minute. I grill shish kebobs and seafood. I even smoke chicken and ribs, as well as grill them. I line the bottom of the grill with foil for easy clean up. I soak wood chips for an hour or two and then place them in 2 aluminum hotdog trays (the height is just right)I found at the local 99 cent store. I place them under the heating element. I, then add some of the liquid drained from the soaked wood chips to the drip cup. I put a sheet of foil on the grill and stab slits for the smoke to come through. I set the grill between medium and high. With the use of a digital thermometer I purchased from QVC, I can smoke my meat for 2 4 hours at the approriate temperature, occasionally spraying my meat with apple juice to prevent drying. The result is meat that is flavored and grilled just like it was done on a charcoal grill.

Tips: Do not put the screw in the heating element aparatus. This makes for easier cleaning. Spray the grill surface with Pam for grilling.

I live on the second floor of an apartment complex where gas & charcoal grills are not permitted. This is the next best thing; I did a lot of research & this is the best thing in the market for what it is; a real grill, albeit electric. It heats up quickly & grills rather well. The only thing is that it will take a couple of meals in order to season the pan that lies under the heating element like a cast iron pan or a gas grill lava rocks, as it builds up burnt drippings it will act as a charcoal & flavor your foods. Its big enough to cook a meal for 3 or 4 people. I have cooked T-bones, burgers, chicken & steak tips. Its a 5 star in the world of electric grills, because it actually is a grill & not a fancy electric press like the George Foreman or anything else. (it just won't completely replace the flavor & experience of open flame grilling.

I bought this for an upstairs apartment where gas and charcoal grills aren't allowed. I LOVE the way it cooks, it's just like having a charcoal grill, the food tastes just like it would if I cooked it on one.

The only gripe I have is that this thing took a HORRENDOUS beating during shipping. I utilized the "free super saver" shipping. It took over a month to get, and I had to go through 3 hours of customer service to make the shipping free like the website says. They may have fixed this by now.

When I assembled it, I had to beat the components back into a circle with a hammer so the lid would fit over the pan. It still doesn't quite fit right, but, it is still functional, and the only grill of it's type that I was able to find that was not a "contact" grill. George Foreman has nothing on this.

Also, the instructions that come with this product recommend that it be used outdoors only. Make sure when using a cord, it's rated for at least 1500 watts. I found one that was rated for 1875 watts and it works great! This thing will make a lot of smoke INSIDE your house, if you choose to use it indoors.

I always compare a few products before making my purchase. Here's what I was considering: Sanyo HPS-SG3 200-Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill, Black. This grill was very affordable, had many, many rave reviews, and seemed like the perfect choice. Then I found this Meco/Aussie Lock 'N Go Electric Grill, Hunter Green and there was no turning back! The Meco/Aussie grill had a cover, was powder coated!, was round, heats up quickly, and had a higher rated heating temperature. The Sanyo grill didn't come with a lid, took a long time to heat up, and felt less like a regular grill I was looking for. NOTHING will ever beat the classic fire grill, but if you have to have an electric grill like I do for a small apartment, then this is KING. This grill can actually be converted to a regular charcoal grill with some new legs and a charcoal pan order from the company itself. I'm considering doing this as well. The grill heats up fast and you actually feel like you're doing some real cooking. It's not as hot as I'd like it to be but again, it's not a charcoal grill. Throw some Charbroil Hickory Wood Chips in a foil to add some flavor and also some awesome Fire Wire Stainless Steel Flexible Grilling Skewers and you've got yourself a great meal!

This grill is wonderful. Even though you can't tell from the pictures, it is a real outdoor grill, just like a charcoal grill, but electric. I cook everything fron chicken, to fish, to burgers and hotdogs, to grilling vegetables. Even though it is portable, it has ample cooking space. It can also be converted into a charcoal grill. Clean up is easy. I line the bottom with aluminum foil, and use cooking spray on the cooking surfice. It cleans with just a sponge. I highly reccommend this grill, especially for apartment living!
