These pellets are great. They don't stay going well on their own in an A-Mazen-Pellet-Smoker (AMNPS) but as stated in the directions fill the bottom 1/2 of each row with maple or oak pellets, and the top 1/2 with cherry. The cherry imparts quite a sweet flavor and is not overpowered by the oak or maple.

My first time using pellets vs chips. I like the convenience, they seem to last longer and at a bit over 1$ per pound they are significantly less expensive. Have used them so far on sausage, pork and chicken. I prefer the milder, sweeter smoke flavor of cherry rather than other woods like mesquite and hickory but that is a metter of taste.

I have used these pellets in my homemade* AMNPS (pellet smoker). At first I couldn't keep the pellets lit during a hot smoke. This may have been due to extra humidity from my water pan, humidity in my pellets, or not letting the pellets burn long enough before blowing them out. Since then, I have done a couple cold smokes with no problems. I put the pellets in the microwave for a minute or two (watch that they don't start on fire!) and I let the pellets burn longer. I will try these changes on my next hot smoke, but leave the water pan in. I also read that cherry is usually blended with other woods because it has a hard time keeping itself lit. However with my method above, I've had no problems with the pellets burning with just cherry. I will definitely be getting other flavors from this band.

*I purchased a 22 GA, 36x40 perforated sheet of stainless steel on Amazon and was able to make 8 copies of the AMNPS. I wanted 2 and I wanted to give some as gifts, so this was much more economical than spending $40 a piece. However if you only need one or two, buy them from Todd (the maker of the AMNPS) because they are definitely worth it. It just happened that my situation warranted spending the time to cut, bend, and weld my own.

My only complaint about these pellets is that I have to order them in a 40 lb. bag in order to get a good price. I hate 40 lb. bags, they are heavy to lug around and awkward to use.

As for the pellets, they are just fine. They have the nice mild flavor that you would expect from cherry. Oddly, the reddening of beef that is typical of cherry smoke seemed less pronounced with these pellets than with most of the other cherry pellets I have used. Different varieties maybe? The pellets seemed a tad larger than Traeger pellets but went through with no problems.

The bag was delivered with a couple of holes torn in it, but as I usually store the pellets in a plastic bucket or bin, it wasn't a big problem.
