My update as of 1/5/2011: I still LOVE my grill, and it has exceeded my expectations for cooking. I've upped the rating to 5 stars, because I can't imagine anything about it could be better. The best feature is the flare-guard that really helps prevent serious flames, even on marinated meats (which is most of ours). We grill everything: steak, burgers, fish, veggies even whole chickens. The variability of the heat is impressive, and the only issue we ever have grilling is the wind, which can't be helped. This grill also starts easily and immediately every time (unless it's really windy). The biggest problem we face is running out of gas! We use it so much we've gone to having two tanks so we don't run out unexpectedly. Time for a gauge I suppose...
Our grill even tipped over in some very high wind, and the most that happened was the ignition wire dislodged. Once plugged back in it lit up like a champ. So after about 120 uses (in 10 months) it's still our "new" grill and my favorite way to cook. I use it more than I thought I would, and can't recommend it highly enough, even at a much higher price.
original review): Although I didn't buy this from Amazon (it cost less buying online from ACE w/free delivery to my local store), I decided to leave a review here because this is such a great grill! Made in Canada (which could have something to do with it), this grill, which cost me only $230 ($250 here) is everything a $400 grill should be and maybe more. Large, hot, highly adjustable (with a temperature gauge to help you judge), sturdy and seemingly well-designed and durable. Only time will tell on these last two points (we only just bought our grill in March 2010) but previous owners have vouched for workmanship in other reviews.
We use our grill 2-3 times a week (less in the winter, more in the hottest weeks), and we're going to be diligent in covering this grill because we want it to last. Maybe that's what makes these grills durable? Their owners love them so much they take better care of them!
The "flare guard" feature seems to work very well it allows you to grill at very hot temps without the burnt-black char. You get a nice black "sear", but not the crunchy, bitter burnt parts, so the flame must not be as out-of-control as it can get in some gas grills that get too hot.
Another nice surprise is the warmer grate... often this is in the way of the primary cooking surface (so we've always done without) but this one swings way back when you open the lid, so we haven't felt the need to remove it. And it IS handy for buns or already-cooked-enough food.
The only reason I gave this a "4" is because it probably can't compete with high-end grills, not that I would know because I've never bought one. But if the rating were strictly for value (rather than function/features/quality) I would give it 5 stars without hesitation.

We got this grill in August 2009 and used it extensively throughout the fall. When the snows started we covered it and left it on the deck over the winter. Spring came, we fired it up, and again use it a lot. It provides a wide range of grilling temperatures and is solid and reliable. As another reviewer pointed out, the warming rack swings well out of the way and is handy for warming buns, etc. I particularly like the cast iron cooking grates. For this price you can't beat it (we also got ours through Ace...a good price and free delivery to the store) and to be honest we don't need anything more than this.Best Deals for Broil-Mate Model 155164 Liquid Propane 44,000 BTU Gas Grill
Heats fast and evenly and it's made in North America. Heavy duty cooking grate. This is a good buy. Easy to assemble too.Honest reviews on Broil-Mate Model 155164 Liquid Propane 44,000 BTU Gas Grill
It's an entry level grill but it heats well, has aluminum shell ans cast grill grates. Assemblytook a bit but it wasn't bad. Overall I'm pleased with the grill and enjoy it.
