I was very surprised at the improved flame over the original unit I replaced. Our burner stand is a Brinkmann and didn't work very well. My old burner did not look much different in design and was rusted. However the original one always produced a yellowish flame and stained the bottom of pans with soot; I thought I might be using the wrong fuel (propane). This new one burns clean at low or high settings and when wide open is very impressive, almost scary, in heating the pot quickly. Too bad Brinkmann didn't use this design in their units.

Excellent burner. Flame so clear and blue that you can hardly see it. Definitely puts out the heat. These burners are bullet proof, great price to boot. These burners did not come with the standard propane gas orifice but then if you are replacing the burner on your old system, you can use the orifice from the old one. It needs to be a 1/8th national pipe threaded orifice and that is pretty much standard on these systems.

I bought this along with the new stainless-braided 10psi controller. The controller is great. Wish I could say the same about this. It's basically the same as the one it's replacing, which means that it's cast-iron, poorly finished. That means that leaving it outside for one or two periods of rainy weather will turn it to a pile of rust. I don't know what they use to "paint" this thing, but it doesn't work. So, before this new one goes into service (and into a life of rain/humidity) I'm going to disassemble it. Then it gets a good wire-brushing and a couple of coats of Rustoleum High-Temp manifold enamel. That ought to keep it usable for a lot longer than it is in its factory finish. I recommend that you do the same thing. And while you're at it. you can smooth off the rough spots in the burner area which will make the flame a bit more uniform.

Otherwise, it's a good companion for the 10psi controller.

I bought this burner to go in a homemade fish cooker/crawfish boiler made from a 16" tire rim. I wanted to post a picture but couldn't figure out how to do that. The burner sits in the hole for the axle and is about 4" from the bottom of the pot. I welded angle iron legs on it and short pieces of flat iron on top for the pot to sit on. This burner can be turned down for frying or jacked up for boiling crawfish or shrimp. Unless it gets hit by something hard it should last many many years! Puts out a good blue flame too.

More than any piece of camping gear I have this one gets the most questions. I have a wife who gets migraines and a daughter with asthma, campfire smoke is not good for either of them. They have no problem with the CIAC. This can also be used in most places that have burn bans. If they let you use a stove they should let you use this. In Michigan we are prohibited from transporting firewood because of the spread of the emerald ash borer. Many campgrounds are taking advantage of this to sock it to you when it comes to buying firewood. The ability to control the temperature so that you can bump it up to cook some hot dogs and then down because it is to hot to sit around a campfire when all you really want is a bit of ambiance from it is great. I really like my CIAC.

Shipped on schedule, packing material is reusable so the internal parts don't move around. The cover works as a stand to raise up the fire, and looks so nice that I bought the cover to protect it while storing it in our motor home. Looks a little small for a camp fire, but it's size makes it easy to store in campers, trailers, etc. Your propane tank will take up more room :-) Looking to get a hose built to run it off the propane built into the motor home, but the hose that comes with it is long enough to have the propane tank sitting behind everyone. Surprising amount of heat output. Feels great on a chilly night!

The Campfire in a Can lives up to it's name. Used it for the first time this weekend and it was the envy of the campground. Works like in the Youtube videos. When turned up the flame is large and puts out plenty of heat. The flame swirls and to me quite life-like. The versatility is wonderful, being able to put it directly on the ground or on top of the lid. Stores nicely. Not sure about the small "chips" that go on the bottom below the burner time will tell. Great design and product.

Pad may be replaceable, but it shouldn't need replacement in ninety days, after modest use. Brush it replaced lasted more than a year.

The first burner arrived with damage to the gasket (still sealed in plastic bag but shredded into multiple pieces) to go between the burner and the burner tubes. All parts were just thrown into a cardboard box together and the weight of the burner caused it to move around and destroy other things in the box. I sent the first one back but the replacement arrived with a damaged gasket as well. It only has one tear so I think I can install good enough to get by. I hope. It just seems silly that they can't come up with better packaging. I guess that's why this burner is cheap. Build quality of the cast iron burner looks fairly nice. I will follow up after using.

A great cooking tool!

I bought the Charcoal Companion to use as a press to make paninis in my 7-inch cast iron, ridged, grill pan. The ridged, heavy-weight size, press had been dificult to find to fit my small skillet, so I was excited to try it when it arrived! I decided to make a paninii of left over chicken that day. Much to my surprise, it would not make the browned ridges I desired but only squashed the panini. I thought about it and realized the grill press was not hot when it contacted the bread. I have an induction cooktop so decided to see if it would heat the ridged press. It did! I put the grill press on one burner, heated my ridged cast iron pan on another burner. When I decided the temperature was right (I heated on No. 7 on my cooktop) I placed the panini in my skillet, then placed the grill on top. Viola! It produced a perfect ridged panini.

I did brush the grill press with oilive oil before placing on my burner, the same as I did my cast iron skillet. I lightly buttered both outsides of my sandwich. This gave a me an authentic panini.

I do not use regular white or wheat bread. I use french, baguette or aritisan bread from my supermarke I slice myself. I don' think regular sliced bread would hold up to this procedure.

I purchased this along with a different press to use making bacon on an oblong antique cast iron griddle. My family initially thought this was kind of a goofy, frivolous purchase but they have been amazed at how much better the bacon is using this. It makes it nice and flat and more uniformly cooks it without as many "rare" fat spots. If you prefer the rare spots you simply would cook the bacon for a shorter time. I think it shortens cooking time somewhat by holding heat on the top of the meat. The bottom of this is cast with ridges about 3/16" tall, spaced about 5/8" apart. I've discovered that this makes it great for doing tube meat like hot dogs and sausages. You can use the press to cook along the whole length all the way around by placing the meat parallel to and between the ridges. I've also used it for frying cornbread and get a much more uniform cooking of it than I used to. I've only had it now for a few weeks but I'm sure I'll think of many more uses for it. There are other presses that weigh more but the weight of this has proven sufficient for any use to which I have put it. The seasoning appears to be good as so far I've had no issues with it sticking. The casting is of good quality with a pretty smooth surface and no flaws.

The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating is that you have to be careful with the ends of the handle. The wood handle is long enough to easily handle the hot press, safely avoiding the posts to which it is mounted. However a few times while holding the press to adjust my meat my hand has come in contact with the top of the posts (the handle is mounted between them). The press hasn't been hot enough to create a burn on my hand but it's an uncomfortable moment nonetheless. I usually just wipe my cast iron cooking tools with a paper towel between uses so haven't tried washing this. The ridges might create a bit of a challenge but I can't think of why you might get food stuck to the bottom to necessitate this. Regardless I think this slight risk is worth the extra utility of having the ridges. I looked at a number of these but was restricted in size by the flat area of the griddle. I was concerned that this wouldn't cover all my bacon but before my other press arrived I used only this one switching it from end to end. With bacon this worked about as well as having 2 presses.

I use this Grill Press almost daily. The amount of time and frustration that I save is amazing. Ever feel like you have been through a wrestling tournament after cooking a little bacon, keeping it curling UP, and getting them to even almost evenly cooked? I love how with this press I can cook my bacon, sausage and many other things slowly which seems to get better results and allows me the time to pay attention to the other things that I am preparing and cooking, making it easy to have everything done at about the same Time. I don't know if this grill press is the best out there. It's the first I've owned. I can say it's been a pleasant surprise. It's hefty, solid and has large surface area. It works great to flatten bacon, and speeds up cooking burgers. It fits well in a large pan or cast iron skillet. Today I needed to press the water out of some tofu to fry it, and the grill press is perfect for it. I think this is the kind of item that will have more and more uses as time goes by.

My only complaint, the handle is on a screw, and loosens from time-to-time, requiring a few turns of a screwdriver to tighten back up. Otherwise I like and recommend this press.

In many ways, this set is more than what I need. I would say it compares favorably to similar products with aluminum presentation cases, despite its lower price range. It also stands out compared to similarly priced sets of individual tools. The tools shown are of reasonably good quality. The only problem was that there was that some of the tools needed a bit of cleaning up from manufacturing marks.

The most common tools are well made, and the various edges of the spatula are reminiscent of a multi-tool with sharp and serrated edges, as well as a bottle opener. The knife and tongs are of reasonable quality.

The case is typical of many these days with an aluminum appearance, only to my surprise it's real aluminum. For the price, that's more than I expected. The idea of a presentation case at all was more than I really needed. Each tool has an elastic loop to support it at one end and a Velcro strap at the other, so it's not hard to keep things organized. Then again, you will need to have free hands, and stretch the loop out for each tool, so if you are on the lazy side, this set will be a bit more work than just leaving things hanging. Then again, each major tool has a loop for that, so you can use or ignore the case.

The individual knives and corn holders are also of reasonably good quality. Although the brush and grill brush are also well made, they are consumable type items that should last a season at most, as would competing brands. Both have easily removable ends, and I was disappointed that I can't find replacement parts for them. For a set that goes in a display case, it would be nice to still have matching pieces after a season.

Overall, I got a high end set for the price I expected to pay for a more moderate set of quality individual tools without a case.

This item looks great and many of the pieces are very nice and of good enough quality for its use. However, I found that the items I use the most, the grill fork, tongs and spatula, were made of steel too thin and they bent too easily. Specifically I was using items to flip over a rack of ribs and they bent under the stress. I returned this item.

This is a pretty good set for the price. We aren't planning to use the steak knives because we have another set of much higher quality, but the other utensils are perfect for our grill. I have been through 50 subpar sets here and there. This particular "Chefs Kitchen" set is everything you need, high quality SS and the case is there if you need/want it.

You can not go wrong with this, for Dad or yourself. I cant stress teh quality of teh steel. It doesnt stain/mark and I really char-up my tools. One run thru the dishwasher and you are good to go!

This is a superb way to grill veges on the grill. I always spray a product such as Pam on the wok before placing it on the grill and have never had a problem with food sticking. I have not tried cooking without the prespray. The food is perfect in 18-20 minutes turning every 5 minutes.

My only disappointment is that the grill may be discoloring but the smoothness of the surface is not changing.

This mat is not for use with charcoal grills, only gas grills. There is a small warning on the back of the box that says sparks or coals may burn or melt the product. I will have to return it and find another mat.

This thing barely lasted one season; it started rotting and falling apart around the edges before it even had any wet weather anywhere near it. Very unhappy customer here.

This mat is a really nice mat. The top is fabric and it does get messy quick. Anything that lands on it, tends to stick to it like the softer side of velcro. Mine is in a tiki hut and I vacuum it. The bottom of it is a thin vynol that stops grease from penetrating. It's easy to roll the grill onto it and off. It does flap in the wind if it gets blowing. If you grill within a building it's great. If you don't, you may wanna get something thicker. Though I haven't tried, it looks machine washable. Over all I'm glad I bought it.

Received our Magma grill cover and it fits PERFECTLY! It is easy to place and remove, which is key to using something, and although it covers the shiny stainless and cool shape of our grill, it isn't visually obstructive. We would have purchased the tan cover, it would better blend with the exterior paint color, but it cost more! If you have a nice grill, it is a good idea to protect it from the elements.
