Cheap Lynx L42PSR-2-NG Built-In Natural Gas Grill with Pro Sear Burner

Lynx L42PSR-2-NG Built-In Natural Gas Grill with Pro Sear Burner and Rotisserie, 42-Inch
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I purchased the Lynx Professional 42" built-in grill (L42PSR-2) in June 2012 as an install for a covered outdoor grilling area at a new home that we were building. It is has now been a year since that purchase and install, and the grill has gotten a lot of use. The grill is very expensive, but it looks beautiful and performs well, and I expect that it will continue to do so for many years to come. I have found Lynx's customer service to be excellent. I have required one warranty related service call on the grill, and it was a breeze. They had to swap the starter on a main burner and replace the ProSear-2 burner. Both were working fine until I decided to clean the grill by follow the directions in the manual. In the process of doing so, one of the starters jammed and a section of the ProSear burner just stopped working. These proved to only be minor annoyances because Lynx quickly shipped the replacement parts free of charge to my doorstep and arranged for an authorized local repair shop to make sure that I got back up and running.

I had to contact customer service again today because the power cord for the rotisserie got a little too close to the grill, melted, and no longer works. Also, some kind of oil or other food residue appears to have found its way into the temperature gauge in the lid of the grill. Lynx is sending me a new rotisserie power cord and temperature gauge free of charge. So, as with anything you use, there will be wear and tear, but Lynx has made it very easy for me to continue to be pleased with my selection. If I were looking to purchase another large built-in grill in this price range, I would definitely consider purchasing another unit from Lynx.

My old Big Easy grill is getting pretty old. My flames were sputtering and the left burner had finally died. I thought for sure I'd need to look into a new one, but decided to try replacing the burners. It's cooking like new again! I couldn't be happer. It took about 15 minutes to replace the old burners nice and easy.

The burners were by far the best price on Amazon. The installation is easy except for the nut that holds the connecting bar between the burners. This is the worst piece of engineering I've seen in a long while. Fortunately they give you 2 nuts per burner, because you're going to smash 1 per burner trying to get it to fit. Other than that the burners are great.

Best Deals for Char-Broil Versaflame "Big Easy" Burner Replacement Kit

Ok, so this is a mixed review. The burners themselves fit perfectly as they are OEM parts provided by Charbroil. The problem that I encountered was in trying to assemble the crossover bar that links two burners together. The so-called "pal" nuts are not your pal. In fact, they are your enemy. They are extremely difficult to install. I was only able to install one of the four pal nuts that came with the two burners I had purchased. The other three were ruined after several attempts at getting them on. They are cheap junk, made in China, and of extremely flimsly design. They are not strong and they smash and mash up way too easily. Whoever designed these was diabolical.

The posts on the burners upon which you place the nuts are not threaded. So you cannot simply screw on an ordinary nut. One reviewer on here wrote: "When installing the nuts, if you thread the post using a 5mm x .08 die, available at most hardware stores, you can screw the nuts on no problem." While that is one solution, you shouldn't have to run out to a store to buy a specialty tool in order to put this thing together.

I had previously ordered these burners 5 or 6 years ago from bbqparts.com. However, back then the twin burners came as a set, already assembled with the crossover bar attached to both burners and there was nothing to put together. Apparently, Charbroil stopped providing the twin burner sets that required no assembly and began selling individual burner components that require the customer to put them together. Why they did this makes no sense, but that's what they did.

Anyway, before ordering these burners from Amazon I had gone back to the bbqparts.com website only to find that they no longer carry them. Here's what bbqparts.com website says about why they no longer sell these burners:

"Charbroil has discontinued this burner assembly and it is no longer available from them or us. Charbroil, however, offers the individual components of the assembly burners, nuts, and connector rods as separate parts. We have tried these and found them very difficult to assemble for both us and our customers so we do not offer them. If you want to try that, please contact Charbroil directly to place an order."

So there you have it. A leading BBQ parts supplier will not sell these burner components because of the difficulty getting on the pal nuts. Fortunately, Amazon still carries these parts, and they are also available directly from Charbroil (I checked), but at a significantly higher cost.

Since I had none of the pal nuts left, what I did to secure the crossover bar was to drill out the hole in a small wing nut until it was just slightly larger than the buner post where the connector bar goes. Then I forced the wing nut down onto the post using a hammer and screwdriver. Once the wing nut was all the way down to the bottom I squeezed it tightly onto the post with pliers so that it wouldn't come loose. This seemed to work and from there it only took a few minutes to install the now assembled twin burners into the grill. Everything worked fine and both burners lit as they were supposed to.

I am rating this product only a "2" because in the final analysis I don't like it and it caused me all sorts of wasted time and frustration. The basic point is that customers shouldn't have to go to extraordinary lengths to put these together. The posts that hold the crossover bar should be threaded so that ordinary nuts, not these poor quality pal nuts, can be used.

If you order these burners just know that you might have difficulty with the crossover bar assembly because of the pal nuts issue. If anyone has any other ideas of how to get these nuts on without ruining them, I'd like to hear them.

Ok, first of all, the size and amount of what you get in the bag is clearly stated in the description. It's completely my fault for not realizing just how small the amount of Pecan chips is 2 cups. Which to some may sounds like a lot but, when you're used to buying bigger bags of other wood to smoke with, 2 cups is nothing. How long that's going to last and how much smoke will get into the meat is a question I have yet to find out. Probably should have bought two bags... hopefully soaking the wood chips will help!

Good chips, lasted reasonably long, good flavor. Well worth the money. I'll be buying more of these in the future.

I was a little concerned to buy a new brand I had not tried before but it seems to be working out well. It smells strong and has the same properties as my previous Aura Cacia Lavender. In hindsight I think I should have gotten a 4 oz bottle because I use this oil in nearly everything! It is incredible healing and soothing and smells so nice. I will most likely buy this brand again some time though.

I must say I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of these spatulas. Living in a small town, selection in stores is very limited, so I thought I would get these for replacements for my favorite (deceased) kitchen spatula while I looked for something better. No longer looking. These spatulas are lightweight, but surprisingly sturdy. They have a nice long and very thin blade perfect for turning eggs over easy, for example. I am using them strictly for the kitchen, so can't rate them for grill use. The handles are a bit shorter than some grill utensils, so may not be for everyone and every use, but perfect for my large fry pan on the kitchen stove.

Honest reviews on NEW, Set of Two (2) 14-Inch Long, Grill Spatula, Turner Spatula

I guess the other reviewer didn't like the handle. The handle is fine to me. It's same as those stainless steel serving/cooking spoons restaurants use.

The quality of the spatulas is super awesome. I already have one stainless steel spatula but wanted to have a backup. For this price you usually only get one so I'm sure I don't need to write too much about the price as you already know this is a good deal.

It said commercial grade and it's true. I used to work in a kitchen after my culinary school. This spatula really has the same or better quality they use at a professional kitchen.

It is not super flexible but it does have some flex in it. I accidentally bought a real flexible spatula before and I couldn't do a thing with that. I couldn't even cut eggs with it, it was that flexible. This one is flexible enough yet I am still able to cut eggs or hams and stuff.

Only thing though... it had stickers on the back of the handle and it was not easy to take off. haha

I should have paid more attention to what the pictures look like. The handles are mostly flat with edges pretty much the same as the spatula head, so not very comfortable in the hand. And they are not nearly as flexible as I had wanted. They are serviceable enough, so I won't be returning them, but I wouldn't buy them again if I had to replace these for any reason.

A great cooking tool!

I bought the Charcoal Companion to use as a press to make paninis in my 7-inch cast iron, ridged, grill pan. The ridged, heavy-weight size, press had been dificult to find to fit my small skillet, so I was excited to try it when it arrived! I decided to make a paninii of left over chicken that day. Much to my surprise, it would not make the browned ridges I desired but only squashed the panini. I thought about it and realized the grill press was not hot when it contacted the bread. I have an induction cooktop so decided to see if it would heat the ridged press. It did! I put the grill press on one burner, heated my ridged cast iron pan on another burner. When I decided the temperature was right (I heated on No. 7 on my cooktop) I placed the panini in my skillet, then placed the grill on top. Viola! It produced a perfect ridged panini.

I did brush the grill press with oilive oil before placing on my burner, the same as I did my cast iron skillet. I lightly buttered both outsides of my sandwich. This gave a me an authentic panini.

I do not use regular white or wheat bread. I use french, baguette or aritisan bread from my supermarke I slice myself. I don' think regular sliced bread would hold up to this procedure.

I purchased this along with a different press to use making bacon on an oblong antique cast iron griddle. My family initially thought this was kind of a goofy, frivolous purchase but they have been amazed at how much better the bacon is using this. It makes it nice and flat and more uniformly cooks it without as many "rare" fat spots. If you prefer the rare spots you simply would cook the bacon for a shorter time. I think it shortens cooking time somewhat by holding heat on the top of the meat. The bottom of this is cast with ridges about 3/16" tall, spaced about 5/8" apart. I've discovered that this makes it great for doing tube meat like hot dogs and sausages. You can use the press to cook along the whole length all the way around by placing the meat parallel to and between the ridges. I've also used it for frying cornbread and get a much more uniform cooking of it than I used to. I've only had it now for a few weeks but I'm sure I'll think of many more uses for it. There are other presses that weigh more but the weight of this has proven sufficient for any use to which I have put it. The seasoning appears to be good as so far I've had no issues with it sticking. The casting is of good quality with a pretty smooth surface and no flaws.

The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating is that you have to be careful with the ends of the handle. The wood handle is long enough to easily handle the hot press, safely avoiding the posts to which it is mounted. However a few times while holding the press to adjust my meat my hand has come in contact with the top of the posts (the handle is mounted between them). The press hasn't been hot enough to create a burn on my hand but it's an uncomfortable moment nonetheless. I usually just wipe my cast iron cooking tools with a paper towel between uses so haven't tried washing this. The ridges might create a bit of a challenge but I can't think of why you might get food stuck to the bottom to necessitate this. Regardless I think this slight risk is worth the extra utility of having the ridges. I looked at a number of these but was restricted in size by the flat area of the griddle. I was concerned that this wouldn't cover all my bacon but before my other press arrived I used only this one switching it from end to end. With bacon this worked about as well as having 2 presses.

I use this Grill Press almost daily. The amount of time and frustration that I save is amazing. Ever feel like you have been through a wrestling tournament after cooking a little bacon, keeping it curling UP, and getting them to even almost evenly cooked? I love how with this press I can cook my bacon, sausage and many other things slowly which seems to get better results and allows me the time to pay attention to the other things that I am preparing and cooking, making it easy to have everything done at about the same Time. I still haven't been able to calculate the time and frustration, which affects the rest of my day, over my current 68 yrs.! I also love the weight hamburgers, steaks etc. Nice Price also, Thanks

I don't know if this grill press is the best out there. It's the first I've owned. I can say it's been a pleasant surprise. It's hefty, solid and has large surface area. It works great to flatten bacon, and speeds up cooking burgers. It fits well in a large pan or cast iron skillet. Today I needed to press the water out of some tofu to fry it, and the grill press is perfect for it. I think this is the kind of item that will have more and more uses as time goes by.

My only complaint, the handle is on a screw, and loosens from time-to-time, requiring a few turns of a screwdriver to tighten back up. Otherwise I like and recommend this press.

Purchased this for camping, because it uses a small propane container, and the price was really low compared to 2 other units I was considering. THIS IS A SUPER DEAL!! Used this for 2 nights of camping, and cooked hamburgers and hot dogs. It's a good size for doing 4 burger patties and 2-3 hot dogs at one time. Cooking time was really fast, and it's very easy to light up and clean as well. The size is perfect, and I like that it has a lid, which can be clamped on for travel. Really happy with this product! A GREAT VALUE for the price!!

It sounds strange to rate excellent an item that had, at least in my hands, a major concern. We had this little gas grill for over 3 years. Never rusted -we never covered it but never left it in the rain either-, we never had the problem of the handle getting too hot when cooking, and the portability is fantastic. This grill cooks darn hot and really fast. One side of the grill was just a bit cooler, but I was actually happy about it so I could cook more delicate stuff at the same time or move there steaks that were about ready to serve to keep them warm. In addition, the food came out tasting wonderful, even if I usually cleaned grate and flavorizer with soap and water (I know, but...). I made burgers, hot dogs, chicken, steaks, chops and London Broil on it and always with excellent results. One very important thing: this grill never shut off its flames on us while cooking. The problem? The cooking grate, and I am suprised others did not complain about it. The grate sits on the very top edge of the grill resting merely on 3 tiny, really minuscole internal hooks. It made it very difficult to turn the food, as the grate slides around and often tilts on you. You need to push it down with a tool in your other hand while turning your burgers. Add to this fiery flame ups and you have a recipe for disaster, especially if one of your hands is busy holding something and you find yourself momentarily alone. Once too many a times of risking to set myself on fire -and you usually use such a grill where hospitals are no where to be foundI let it cool down and threw it away. This problem would not exist if the grate would sit on a round lip set below the grill's round edge instead of 3 stupid hooks. Could it be ours was missing some parts, as nobody else complained about this issue? Well, I regret I threw it away and we actually miss it a lot. We got a Weber Go Anywhere recently for our outdoor excursions, and I can see the difference, and not a positive one for Weber. The food does not taste as good, it quits from 1 to as many as 4 times while cooking on a full tank of propane, and we never get decent grill marks as it is not very hot, but this is material for another review. If I was sure the grate is now better positioned I would buy the Vortex on the spot.

Best Deals for Vortex 14.5 Inch Tabletop Gas Grill

I would give this 0 stars if I could, I returned it because when we used it the flavor plate that is to sit right below the grill part is PAINTED!! and it left little flecks of silver paint all over our food. This can be dangerous especially since this is made in china and we know that china sometimes uses lead paint. You would have to heat the grill for quite a while to get all the paint burned off before it would be safe for cooking food. I would not reccommend this and I feel that there should be a recall on this since eating paint is not healthy. If you would use this in a low light situation you would never know that the paint ended up on your food.

I have owned this grill for more than 5 years, have used it on a regular basis and I am definitely a fan but with some reservations. First the benefits:

1.) The gas valve can be adjusted from low/medium/high and the heat is distributed evenly with no discernible hot spots.

2.) It is very easy on gas because it cooks quickly/efficiently. I usually cook things like hot dogs, hamburgers and precooked chicken/ribs with barbeque sauce and have found the small propane tanks last for at least 5-8 average meals and usually a lot longer. Of course it all depends on what you're cooking. With the cover in place, (I always use the cover), 1/2-3/4" thick burgers are usually ready in only 6-8 minutes.

3.) The grilling surface is big enough for ~ 10 average sized burgers and another 1/2 dozen hot dogs at the same time. Once again the heat is evenly distributed evenly and all the burgers cook at the same rate with the cover forcing the heat over the top of the food as well. I wouldn't hesitate taking it when cooking for groups sizes 8-10 as long as you're cooking burgers/hot dogs. One other thing to mention is that the cover utilizes a second inner cone to keep the heat close the food. If your food is odd shaped or projects above the gill more than ~ 2" it may come into contact with the lid in some places. This happened to me when cooking thick ribs.

What I didn't like: This is a portable grill but it sure wasn't designed to be dissembled and reassembled compactly or easily. After using the grill a few times and realizing its benefits, I slightly modified it to make it user friendly. The bottom legs and splatter pan must be screwed together using a tiny screw, washer and nut for each use! I purchased a longer screw, attached it permanently to the splatter pan, threw away the nut and used a wing nut instead. I also used a wing nut on the burner plate assembly. Now taking it apart and reassembling is much faster/easier. Even so, trying to fit the legs/splatter pan inside the grill isn't easy and it's too bad they didn't consider this and a smaller handle when creating the grill. Quality of the components is ok for the price but don't expect a Weber. It would have been nice to have had a sturdier heat distribution pan, (keep it clean to make it last longer) and a thicker grill but it works.

Overall, if you`re looking for a propane grill that is economical on gas, cooks evenly and of decent quality, look at the Vortex. If you are looking for a small grill to pack it efficiently into your car or camper and want a quick assembly, you might want to look at a different model.

At least when it comes to grilling! After months of anxious waiting, I received my "new" 26 inch Weber grill from Amazon a few weeks ago. I say "new" because this is not Weber's first 26 inch grill. They previously had manufactured a 26 inch model that has long since been discontinued.

After having grilled on a 22 inch One Touch Gold and a Performer for years, I was anxious to have more charcoal grilling space. Although I have slobbered over the Ranch Kettle, I always felt that it was a little too much. Of course, I was also never able to convince my wife that I needed one.

The 26 inch kettle took about 20 minutes to assemble. The instructions were written in the international language of "pictures" and are very straightforward. The 26 inch is in all practical purposes a larger 22 inch grill. The wheels, ash catcher, handles, and charcoal baskets are all standard size. The only difference is the larger kettle. When you compare the kettle of a 26 inch to a 22 (see the images above), it might not appear to be that much of a difference. I believe that it is, as the 26 boasts an additional 145 square inches of cooking space. When you are trying to grill multiple things at the same time, that difference means not having to fire up a second grill.

The size of the 26 allows for more range in temperature zones for direct grilling. Internally, like on the 22, there is 5 inches between the main grate and the charcoal grate. The lid holder nicely holds the lid out of the way. My old Performer did not do that very well. I am thankful this model does. I do wish there was a hook to hang the main grate from. You can invert the grate and use the handles to hang it over the lip of the kettle, but I would prefer an actual hook.

I have cooked both direct and indirect on this new beast and I am happy with the results. The one learning curve I am tackling is charcoal usage. Figure about one and a half times more charcoal than you would typically use on the 22. In fact, if you can fit everything on the 26 versus firing up two 22 inch kettles, you are using less charcoal overall. Nice.

If you do a lot of grilling for a lot of people or you grill a lot of different things for a few people, this is a great grill. If you are only an occasional griller, I would recommend the 22. However, if you understand how precious grill real estate when you craft your evening's dinner, the 26 will not let you down. It's a Weber, what more can I say? Happy Grilling!

First of all, I'm a loyal Weber fan and have owned numerous models over the better part of 40 years. I consider them the best of the backyard BBQ grills, so no hate mail please. But let's be realistic, for the same amount of money you can get two Gold One Touch 22.5" grills and have more combined cooking space, not to mention the flexibility of setting one up for indirect and another for direct grilling, OR set up one as a smoker and another as a straight grill, OR set up one for steaks and the other for chicken (or fish) etc.

The design flaws in this larger model are obvious and well documented by other reviewers; leg assy and supports designed and manufactured for the smaller kettle and the single handle grip (which is now the heat seeking plastic material) allows the much heavier lid to swing and arc during removal, not the safest choice Weber could have made. If you really have to have a "bigger one" than Mr. Jones next door, fine, but how often are you really going to need that extra space? My experience is that a 22.5" Weber grill does family duty and can handle the weekend party needs of 6 to 8 people without a problem. The 26.75" (based upon the grilling surface available) might add 2 more people to the party. But two 22.5" grills give you the flexibility to cook for 12 to 16. Now look at the pricing of an 18.5" Gold grill vs. the 22.5"; a reasonable $25 more (at the time of this writing), but the 26.75" Gold is TWICE the price of the 22.5" Gold. It just doesn't pencil out either in a monetary sense or a safety one (remember how that support leg always threatens to fall out when you're moving the grill loaded with hot coals out of the way?)*.

If you really need to turn your backyard into a small forest fire, save up for "The Ranch" which, while huge and expensive, at least is properly designed and manufactured to safely feed a crowd.

* My only criticism of all the Weber kettles is what I consider to be a design flaw with respect the third leg. The legs are aluminum and the kettle/leg mount assys are steel. Steel and aluminum expand under heat at different rates, hence under certain conditions the third leg can fall out of it's assy when lifted leaving the owner w/o a tripod design to rest the kettle. Worse, he/she can trip over the just fallen out leg and lose control of the kettle with disastrous results. I'm not a safety nut, but this danger is so obvious and has such an easy fix that I mention it here on the off chance it hadn't occurred to other owners. Drill a hole thru the dia. of the leg and leg mount assy when they're in place. Slip a small dia. bolt thru the holes in both the leg and mount and secure with a locking nut/washer and you have a safe simple fix.

This new model is a must have for serious grillers who feel cramped on their old 22.5" like I did. I never had quite enough room for proper indirect cooking or for creating the necessary heat zones. Many times I was forced to use my 6 burner Gas Weber Summit for larger BBQ parties. On the 26" I cooked chicken for 15 last week with room to spare. Problem solved. Don't bother buying the smaller model if you are serious.

Pros:

1. Lots of grill space for cooking tons of food.

2. Room for proper indirect cooking with larger items like Roasts or a whole Turkey

3. Better thermometer than my old 22.5" One-Touch Gold

4. Plastic handle on the lid vent so it can be adjusted when hot.

5. Reinforced grate to hold up the coals. Much better design

6. Stainless Steel cooking grill is much easier to clean and will last much longer than the chrome plated grill on smaller models

7. Looks impressive :¬)

Cons:

1. Lid is large diameter and heavy, Be careful slinging it around like the smaller model. Burned my forearm the first day, learned my lesson.

2. Legs are flimsy like smaller model, but this grill is much heavier. I wonder how long they will last. Appear to made of the same thin aluminum.

3. Natural wood charcoal unburned "bits" small enough to fall through the grill, but large enough to lodge in the vents will prevent adjustment, cleaning or closure until they burn or are removed. Forcing will damage the cleaning blades. I am trying different brands of charcoal. I may also add another coal grill at 90° to see if it helps. I am not a big fan of molded briquets which don't have this problem.

4. Does not fit in a passenger car like the 22.5 or smaller could. Now I have an excuse not to loan it to friends for their parties :¬)

5. Wish they made a 26" Performer Model with Propane for lighting coals and the built in work table.

My new 26.75" one-touch arrived last Thursday. The front leg was bent in shipping and after speaking with Weber, they agreed to overnight a new leg. Since I had them on the phone, I then inspected the grill and noticed five different small areas (each no bigger than a dime) in the bottom of the kettle where it was not covered by the enamel. There were some slight ripples in the enamel as well. Weber Cust. Svc said it should not be like that and sent out a whole new kettle! The front leg arrived on Saturday and the new bowl and some parts for it(did not need them) arrived on Monday. This new kettle too had exposed areas in the bowl! These are deep swirly gouges right on the inside of the bowl where the handle is on the opposite, outside of the bowl. I sent pics and so guess what, they are sending me another bowl, this time I asked that it be inspected! The service is great, but what is it with the QA process there? They stated that it probably happened in shipping where the enamel broke off but if the kettle was manufactured correctly, shipping should not cause enamel to chip off like that. I could use one of the bowls I have for Easter but I don't want to take it apart yet again, that in itself wears the parts out.

Of course this still be a great grill once it comes together. The one little thing I don't like is that the legs are very light (hopefully strong enough) for a much heavier grill than the 22.5" version. The lid, bowl, and grates are all much heavier duty and it seems the legs could have followed suit. If they don't last long because of the weight, I will sure to be calling Weber! Looking forward to some great roasting, smoking and grilling, some day. :-)

Love this grill!! Have only used it for indirect cooking I cannot say enough good things about it.

I am very happy with my 26.75 one touch gold. It can accommodate grilling lots of food or a large food item.

1. Out of the box: It was easy to assemble overall. I don't consider myself handy with tools or assembling things, so that's saying something. The toughest part for me was getting those legs all the way in. Just be patient, make sure one hand is on the wheel, grip firmly and push steadily. Also try slightly changing the angle of the direction of force if its still not going in. Eventually it goes right in and stays there. Don't settle for half-way in, or that could be a disaster--the grill will be lopsided and also the legs will come off easily when you move the grill only slightly. Before getting my 26.75 inch one-touch, I've had a 18.5 inch one-touch silver which was left in the home that I bought. It had a leg that wasn't all the way in, and it was both lopsided and tended to collapse when attempting to move the grill. Eventually I fixed it, but that was only after I put together the 26.75 and learned that the leg had to go all the way in. so i turned over the 18.5 and pushed that problem leg in, and now its no longer lopsided and no longer collapses when moved! hurrah!

2. Fitting food under the lid: The space inside the lid is ample. Grilling full-sized spareribs on a rib rack, or beer-can chicken, no problem. In my 18.5 I had problems fitting those things. On my 26.75, I could probably grill a turkey on that thing. Still, I like having a second grill handy in case I need to keep the 26.75's lid down for long periods of time and I need to cook something else at the same time, like burgers. I keep my 18.5 one-touch as a supplement right next to my 26.75.

3. Fuel management: Those charcoal holder baskets that come with the grill are very handy for easily moving the fire around and changing the configuration when needed. for instance, you may have to switch from indirect heat to direct heat, and you might want to have different configurations for each. However the baskets are are tiny compared the the space inside the kettle under the cooking rack. You need alot of charcoals to get a fire that is hot, and those holder baskets won't hold enough to make a hot fire. I like using those baskets so much that I got another pair. The space under the cooking rack can accommodate four holder baskets no problem, and still leave plenty of room for indirect grilling. Also, I like to use both my 26.75 and my 18.5 at the same time. I use one or two of the baskets for the 18.5 while I have something cooking on the 26.75. Then later when both fires are dwindling and I no longer need a fire in my 18.5, I use the tongs and carefully transport the two baskets from the 18.5 into the 26.75. That brings the heat up in the larger kettle without having to add charcoals. Also with the baskets, cleaning is much easier and quicker.

4. Useful accessories. Chimney starter is a must for starting the fire. Don't bother getting those fire starting packets or those special long matches designed for barbecue. Instead just rely on newspaper for the chimney starter and regular bbq lighter, or any regular lighter or matches. no lighter fluid! Have a good, durable grillbrush that can clean between the rack lines (or whatever they're called). Have a grillmat to place your kettle on, but make sure it can be used for charcoal or gas, not just for gas. As I said above, consider getting an extra pair of charcoal holder baskets. For cooking, you'll need a long-handled barbecue spatula and tongs but you won't need a barbecue fork. Don't fork the meat or the juices will spill out. You might want a long-handled basting brush-they're rather hard to find in Home Depot, though. I recommend an apron with front pockets to stash the grill mitts when not wearing them. Oh yes, you'll need grill mitts, preferably with fingers separated (thus, grill gloves rather than grill "mitts"). I recommend getting a rib rack and a chicken roaster (in lieu of using a beer can for beer can chicken and the like). I've had a grill wok, with a foldable handle, but I've found myself using it less and less. I used to use it for grilling veggies, but you won't need a wok if you cook the veggies in large pieces rather than small pieces. b/c the wok has perforated holes, it doesn't leave attractive grill mark lines. As for attachments for the grill, you might want tool hooks, but make sure they don't obstruct the lid from fully shutting. I'd like there to be a worktable that attaches to the 26.75, but the weber worktable for kettle grills is only designed for the 22 or for the 18.5 (the gray plastic side table that hooks to the kettle rim, and with two legs on the opposite side for standing) However, I already have a worktable for my 18.5. I keep both kettles side by side and use them simultaneously, so the worktable is there for me to use even if its not attached to the 26.75. The workable has tool hooks, fortunately. If you're thinking of getting the rotisserie addition, maybe that's your thing, but I like doing my chicken beer-can style, with the bird standing upright. If you plan on storing the kettle outdoors, you should get the grill cover. Weber has one that fits the 26.75 and it seems durable and sturdy. (You won't need a cover for an 18.5 inch kettle--use a contractor's size garbage bag instead, it fits.)

5. What's missing? I like having a hook nearby where I can hang the cooking rack when needed, such as during the fire-starting process and later during clean-up. Luckily, I happen to have such hooks nearby b/c I have my kettles on a covered deck, and the hooks are evenly spread about the roof frame to hang lights or wind chimes. Also, I'd like to have a larger workspace, like a rolling garden rack or a table like the one that comes with the Weber Performer. I rely on my side table for my 18.5 as mentioned above and also a small coffee table that I happen to keep near my grills but there's never too much counterspace/workspace.

6. Miscellaneous thoughts. I like starting fires using regular briquettes. then once those fires are in the holder baskets, as I add charcoal to keep the fire going or to make it hotter, I like to add hardwood lump, which adds a smoky flavor and wouldn't give off any toxic fumes before turning ash-white. i've been using smoking hardwood chunks in addition, but i'm wondering whether i'm over-smoking b/c the lump should add sufficient smokiness. also the chunks i've used are hickory which might be too powerful. plus the chunks tend to flare up, no matter how long i pre-soak them, and my food might get charred before I have the chance to put the lid down to put out the flare.

When I was shopping for a grill I was torn between getting the Performer and the 26.75. I opted for the 26.75 b/c I already have a chimney starter and I am used to making fires that way. I don't feel I would benefit from having the Performer's gas-and-charcoal fusion when most of the time I'm grilling. starting the fire is just a small part of the whole experience and the chimney starter gets a fire going quickly enough for me. due to the large capacity under the lid and under the rack, i find the 26.75 as versatile as i could hope for within my budget.

I looked at several different grill racks for our fire pit. This one seemed to be the best I could find on Amazon. The first time we used it, it warped severely. I cannot recommend this one, since I expected at least a couple of years' use from my purchase.

I was surprised at what poor quality this was when I received it. Kitchen Aid is normally high quality. I don't know what they did with this product. I will simply throw it away unless someone else would like it.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how this grill cover looks... Thought it would be the deluxe grill

cover that is lined to make it a bit sturdier, but over all, does the job covers the

grill... Will agree, the drawstring at the bottom to secure the cover is a pain to use

so we have bungee cords holding it in place.

This is just the sparker. The wire for this sparker comes with the electrode and collector boxes that attach to the burners. Another unit. The sparker comes just as pictured.

The collector often burns out from heatit is plain steel not stainless. Sparker often fails because it is exposed to elements. Makes sense to replace them as needed separately. Easy connection.

I abuse two of these grills (model 1605) with salt air and snow, with no cover even in winter. So I get to replace parts now and then. The hardest thing is when the valves rustthey are pricey so I have learned to disassemble, clean, lube, and reassemble them. Never had to replace them. Not a perfect grill. But the parts are available, not too pricey, and not so hard to replace.

I purchased one of these twin-outlet spark generators to upgrade the original single-outlet spark generator in the gas range / oven of our late model travel trailer. It was a simple drop-in exact replacement. By adding a second spark wire and electrode, this allowed me to add spark ignition to the pilot light in the oven, which originally had only manual lighting (match or butane lighter). This new sparker works great with nice hot sparks from both outlets.

Important note: On this type of spark generator, BOTH outlets must have a complete electrical path to ground for it to produce a spark. In other words, you won't have a spark if you only use one outlet... you must use both.

i purchased this product, was billed for it recieved a tracking number...and have yet to recieve it!! it may be me, but was then able to work through how to contact either Amazon or Music City Metals to inquire

Honest reviews on Music City Metals 03220 Spark Generator Replacement for Select

I paid good money to find out that it came without the connecting wire that makes the spark. This gimmick of seperating the complete assembly of any given item into two or more pieces to charge more money is a ripoff.

Purchased this as part of a Green Bay Packers Christmas White Elephant exchange. The person who received it loved it and I was kind of sad to see it go. I may order another couple of sets for my sons. (They are very sturdy and heavy!)
