These grill plates helped me stretch another year or two out of my dying grill. Perfect fit for my Char Broil, and food doesn't stick at all. The only downside is a slight unevenness between the two grids but I chalked that up to side rails that are almost deteriorated, not the grids themselves.

Fits well in our Char-Broil grill, but a little bit of a gap that can be adjusted by sliding the two grates around. (This is probably a good thing if your grill's igniter no longer works, requiring you to use a lighter.)

Much easier to clean than the original cast grates were.

Best Deals for Porcelain Coated Stainless Steel Wire Cooking Grid for DCS

My grill came with cast iron grids/grates. Black chips get on the meat very frequently, and I'm not referring to grill lines. If you have a grill with a cast grid you probably know what I mean. The cast iron grates are very difficult to clean, and the stupid design of letters in the cast iron grates make cleaning them even more difficult. I know someone who has a grill twice as old as mine, and their grill has porcelain grids. The porcelain grids on their grill are incredibly easy to clean, so I purchased these porcelain coated stainless steel grids from Amazon. These grids work so incredibly much better than my original cast grids. I wish I had purchased these grids a couple of years ago! These grids do not clean quite as easy as my friends old grill, but these grids still work SO MUCH BETTER than my original cast grids.

Honest reviews on Porcelain Coated Stainless Steel Wire Cooking Grid for DCS

I purchased this for our 5 year old CharBroil grill. The original grates were in horrible shape, these we are a HUGE improvement. I will say the welding must have caused the grates themself to warp (so they are not perfectly rectangular upon receipt) and when we placed them in the grill, it was a challenge... Some of the welds {?} look a little rusty now, but very minorly. I think these cost significantly less than any other grates I'd seen, I like that foods don't stick to these...

I spent a lot fo time trying to find a good replacement for my cast iron grid that got rusted on a charbroil professional grill. A lot of those stainless steel grids are overpriced and in my case I'm planing to replace this grill in two more years, so no reason to spend a lot of money in a major repair.

Go with this one for sure save you money and it fit perfectly.

As an avid charcoal BBQer, I was looking to replace my 20 year old Ball-B-Q which I had painstakingly preserved until the bottom had rusted out, so it was time to check out what the market had to offer. I was used to an adjustable height cooking grill and found that most charcoal grills today do not offer this feature. In my mind it's a necessity for those who grill for two or less, otherwise you waste a lot of charcoal and pollute that much more.

So Char-Griller seemed to have all the feature I wanted, especially the airtight hood which has the advantage of snuffing out the coals when you're done. That makes it possible to reuse the coals a second time. Plus the reviews here for other Char-Griller models were positively glowing, so I ordered one blind without seeing it in person.

The grill was straightforward enough to build, but there was some confusion about whether or not the cast iron grates were treated at the factory in China. It turns out they were, but you still have to prime the entire inside of the grill with cooking oil. It then needs to burned off for something ridiculous like two hours before you use it the first time.

The warming rack warped pretty noticeably after this first burn off, and it is clear from the smoke leaking out of the sides and back that the airtight flanged hood is not quite as advertised.

Instead of raising or lowering the cast iron cooking grates, this model has you lift the coal grate up closer to the food. The handles have notches on them that rest on tabs inside the grill body. Fine in theory, clunky in practice...also the handles are metal and get quite hot...mitts are essential.

Dumping the ashes is another pain...you have to remove the 3-piece cast iron grates and then lift the ash pan out using the same handles that adjust the height. Unfortunately, those handles do not lock onto the ash pan, so it's difficult to maneuver it.

I'm not sure if it's because the manufacturer skimped on the gauge of the metal but the grill body bows inward and the hood outward on the sides which creates a 1/4" gap on each side. That lets in a lot of air which makes controlling the cooking temperature difficult. This unit also has a chimney which for some reason is installed from the inside of the hood. That makes it possible for water to leak into the hood and onto the cast iron grills. You will need a cover if you plan to leave this one outside.

Very disappointed with this one, especially since most reviews for similar models were so positive. I'm not sure how long Char-Griller has been manufacturing offshore, but maybe that has something to do with it. Contacted customer service about these issues but their response was indifferent. And of course, once you've used it...you can't return it.

UPDATE 09/2006: Was able to seal leaks and hood with high heat silicone seal caulking. This is the same stuff they use to make those new silicone ustensils and bakewares. However, surface rust has appeared on the hood after 3 months outside. Paint quality seems to be poor as well. Seriously consider getting the cover.

OK people, here's the deal. No other product on the market cooks as well as a Char-Griller. Get the side box, and you have one of the best smokers on the market, too. These grills do have a few issues and, if you are the type that wants to put a grill together and never touch it again, stick to fancy overpriced stainless propane jobs. If you understand that proper charcoal/wood grilling takes work, this thing is great. I barbecue as a part time job, so I know what I'm talking about here, people. This thing is easy to regulate heat and doesn't take much practice to make the best damn BBQ you ever had. I use one at home, occasionally take it to small catering jobs, and use it to pre-smoke chicken for my popular roadside BBQ.

Here are some complaints I've noticed that I feel I need to address in my own special and eloquent way...

#1, you need to oil it and light yourself a big old fire for a while to protect it and get all the casting oil and what not out of the cast iron grates. It's cast iron, it needs done on any grill. before you use it. (noticed some complaints on other reviews).

#2, The grates have advantages and disadvantages. there's a couple of them that lift in and out with a handy dandy little tool. when you lose the tool, you have to use a fork. It's not hard, but I'd like them to be a little bigger. When they eventually crack and break (it takes years), you can order new ones from Char-Griller or find them at Lowe's. They are cheap.

#3, Rust. These grills rust, eventually. An annual $7.00 ban of heat paint, re-oiling, and baking before it starts cures this problem right quick.

#4, Fire. These things will catch on fire if you put them away greasy. Simple solution don't put it away greasy. If you do, drag it out in the yard, pull the ash pan, scrape all the crap in the bottom, douse it with lighter fluid, leave the lid open, and light it up. let it burn. knock the burnt crap in the yard when the fire goes out, and it's clean. Hit it with degreaser and a hose if you want to, but you will have to re-oil and heat treat it again when you're done.

#5, Stuff comes loose. Pretty simple solution there, tighten up all the bolts every once in a while.

#6, Wheels. This is the only design flaw. Cheapo wheels that don't last long. if you don't move it, put it up on blocks. If you do move it, go get some decent wheels off of a lawnmower, and put them on. New, they're 10 bucks. If you have a broken lawnmower, they are free.

#7, Thermometer. This thing will not take long to break. Learn to build your fire and feel the grill for heat. watch the thermometer the first few times you use it. Become one with the grill like any good BBQ cook is, and you won't need it anymore, anyhow. If you use the smoker a lot, and want to watch it out the window, they are cheap to replace anyhow.

#8, Dumping. It's hot and a little bit dirty. You're cooking with fire, people. there's ash. fire is hot. Deal with it. It's got a lift out tray that catches most of it. If ash and dirt is a problem for you, get a gas grill.

#9, Grease. Yes, it will leave a grease stain on your deck or porch from grease that drips down the back of the lid when you open it. You definitely want to set this grill on something hoseable. Be extra careful with any grill on a composite deck. They stain really easy.

#10, Cheesy wooden shelving. When it eventually broke after a few years, I replaced it with some old cutting boards. Wish I would have done it right out of the box. You could use some 5/4 deck boards or whatever scrap wood you can find. Pretty easy.

If you take care of your Char-Griller, and use it pretty often, you will have it for 10 years. If you let it sit out, and don't take care of it, it will rot out and fall apart pretty quickly. This is not the perfect grill for everyone, but for the true BBQ enthusiast, it's absolutely the best choice out there. Several sizes are out there to fit your needs, and there is even a duo model that's propane on one side and charcoal on the other. I will be putting my current model in the garage soon, using it only for catering, and giving that one a whirl. As die hard as I am, I must say that propane has a place when you work 2 jobs and just want to make a quick dinner (especially if you already smoked it on the other side and froze it). My old gas grill finally died, and I figured I'd write a review on old faithful as I order it's fancy new replacement. For the record, though, My current charcoal Char-Griller, though slightly modified and upgraded over the years as previously mentioned, is 10 years old, heavily used, abused, and still in great shape thanks to proper maintenance.

I bought Char-Griller 2123 from Amazon about 3 months ago. I recently moved to new apartment and intstalled that grill on one of my balconies. I disagree with other reviewrs opinions maybe becase it is my first charcoal grill and I think the grill is absulutly great for 5-6 people family or even small parties. I cook at least 2-3 times a week and love it love it love it !

Honest reviews on Char-Griller 2123 Wrangler 640 Square Inch Charcoal Grill / Smoker

This is a very nice grill but there's not much of a reason to buy it when the Super Pro is only $10.00 more. I bought it based on the advertised size of 640 sq in grilling area which is mis-leading. This is the size of grill PLUS warming rack. the main grilling area is only 435 sq in.

But if you REALLY want a smallish grill (in fairness its not THAT small, the main grilling area is slightly larger than a Weber 22 1/2" Kettle grill) its perfect. Features are great, contruction is heavy duty, and the cast iron grills are the best.

I am very happy with this grill. I looked at both the Patio Pro Model and the Super Pro model as well. I chose this one based on it's size, and that I wanted to be able to easily cook for myself or for a group of friends.

The grill arrived with a few dents in the body. I contacted Char-Griller and they shipped replacement parts to me immediately they arrived within two days.

The set-up was fairly easy. The instructions recommend 2 people, but I was able to set it up by myself.

I seasoned the grill, and I have grilled 3 4 times on it now. Every time I learn a little bit more about grilling, and controlling the temperature on a charcoal grill.

Overall, I think this was a great decision for me. Sure, you can spend $10 more and get the Super Pro but that is just more grill to heat.

I was looking for a device that would provide more "grate space" on my grill. In the description, it said it was "3.07 inches" tall. When it arrived, the description on the box said that it was "3.07 inches" tall. That would have been perfect for my needs. However, after I assembled it, it is actually over 7 inches tall and I can't use it on the grill. It looks well made, so maybe I can find some other way to use it (maybe a cooling rack). Not worth the cost to ship it back.

I have a Traeger Lil Tex Elite smoker and I can typically smoke about 3 racks of ribs at a time. This rack greatly increased the surface area and I was able to increase the load to 9 racks. Excellent for parties when increased quantity is important. Just one issue though, the clean up is tough. I found the easiest way to clean this is to soak the grates in degreaser for a good amount of time and use good grill brush afterwards. Other than that this is a great addition for both my smoker and gas grill.

Sold as a direct replacement for DHLG-3 3 outlet ignitor, but if you have a 3 electrode BBQ you'll also need to get a ground wire. There's more info at clagrills dot com / partsphotopages / 03340.htm , bottom line is you connect your 3 electrodes to any 3 of the ignitor terminals and the 4th one you connect a ground wire from it to the frame of the BBQ, in my case there were handy screws holding each gas valve assembly in place. The "Music City Metals 03620 Igniter Wire", http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028S57FU/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01 does the job, having the right size spade connector for the ignitor terminals and a nice round screw-plate for earthing it.

I'll start out by saying I am not a big smoker fan. I bought my husband a Masterbuilt electric smoker for our anniversary last year and starting playing with it. I can't stand mesquite at all so we decided to try apple hoping the smokey taste would be to my liking. These wood chips are excellent! The taste for our Thanksgiving turkey was amazing and I would definitely buy these again.

Being new to smoking we weren't sure which wood to go with. So we bought Apple, Pecan, and Mesquite. I think Apple is my favorite flavor but all had great results. The bags have lasted multiple smokings and don't require to be soaked in water for 24 hours to get a good smoke out of them (seems like some woods require a long soak time). Again, I'm not a pro, but thats how we felt about them!

Best Deals for Weber Wood Chips

I'm a little disappointed in myself for buying these without shopping around. I was in Home Depot yesterday and saw they carry Weber wood chips and the price was $4.99 for a 3 lb bag and $6.99 for a 5 lb bag and I didn't have to pay for shipping because it is in the store and they carry all the flavors available here! I feel like a fool for not looking there first.

Otherwise, they work great and the food had a nice flavor to it.

Honest reviews on Weber Wood Chips

Great for adding flavor to slow cooked meat. Make sure you know what you're doing and don't go crazy on the wood. A little bit goes a long way, but apple wood is one of the best woods for smoking pork. the chips are good sized they arrived dry no musty smell no bugs and are much better then I can get at our local store. I will be buying this again.

I LOVE trying new things on the grill. I originally saw a similar item on Sur la Table but they are usually way overpriced. Gave this product a shot and it did the job. I found the design and function to be quality, especially compared to run of the mill bbq accessories I tend to see in most stores. It does a great job of holding the meat together giving it a nice charr. I come from a big Italian family and this product has been a hit.

I ordered these on Saturday, got them in today, Tues.

1 Star for Amazon Prime free shipping as these are HEAVY DUTY.

1 Star for the awesome construction, these things are tank tough.

1 Star for appearance. They look great.

I wish they fit....

-1 Star Advertized to be direct replacement for Charbroil 463248108.

Nope.

-1 Star Advertized to be 18.25 x 26.25 and it actually says on the box from the Mfgr. 18.25x26.25 They are actually 19x24 and are too long and not wide enough for my grill.

Sending back for refund.

OK, after further investigation, I figured out the problem.

Amazon marked the box incorrectly. They incorrectly put an inventory tag of 66652 on a box containing model number 66662. The Item # 66662 is clearly marked on the box which is 19x25.

I contacted Amazon and they sent out a replacement. The replacement came in today and was the correct 66652 model and it fits even better then the originals.

We are very happy with the Cast Iron Grills from Music City Metals. Was a real step up from the previous original porcelain grills that deteriorated in a short time. Clean up is easy and seasoning them was also pretty quick and easy to do. I was so amazed how fast we received this item once ordered.

These grates seem to be of high quality and fit just the same as the originals on my Charbroil grill. They are much cheaper than the name brand replacement parts.

Make sure to season them, especially if you are in a climate that is prone to rusting. I've learned that lesson the expensive way.

Honest reviews on Music City Metals 66652 Matte Cast Iron Cooking Grid Replacement

Definitely got exactly what the decription says...it fits the grill perfectly and looks like cast iron to me. I did follow online instructions to season the grates and recommend that you do so as well. I have only BBQed on it a couple of times and it cooks differently than my porcelin covered grates so I will just have to learn the tricks of the trade. Hoping that through proper care these can last much longer than the grates that came with it did...2yrs.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Music City Metals 66652 Matte Cast Iron Cooking Grid Replacement

I bought this particular grate set to put into my Char-Broil 3 burner "Tru-Infrared" grill. I got talked into that thing at Menards...what a huge disappointment and waste of money. Anyway, I measured the dimensions of the original grates (3 of them) and this set seemed like a perfect fit. The dimensions of these grates are right at the dimensions they advertise, so they dropped right in.

The slats are good and thick and look like they will hold up well, hopefully the metallurgical quality is up there and they don't crack (cracking while cooling is a huge concern with cast iron). I seasoned them before using by applying some canola cooking spray, and baked it in for a while at low heat. That should help prevent rusting and sticking.

The only CON these have in my opinion: The texture is rough (sand-cast), making stuff stick to them easily. I don't think there's a remedy for this except lots of oil, and not lifting your food until it's good and ready to flip. If you want smooth, buy the porcelain coat or stainless grates. I bought these because I want thick grates that hold heat, sear your food, and leave big grill lines.

If you're going to use these on a Char-Broil Tru-Infrared grill like I did, the originals are built much different and they do not flare up. Upon putting these on my grill, they REALLY flare up now, so you have to be careful. I'll just have to use leaner meat and watch my habits so I don't charcoal my meals. That grill wasn't engineered for open grates so I can't fault the grates, it was my experiment. But I do know that these are 1000 times easier to clean up than the originals. Ten uses and I threw those in the scrap hopper because all the little pinholes plugged up to the point that a wire brush and the scraping tool were useless.

I ordered this item twice: the first time it came, Amazon or whoever distributed it, screwed up. The sticker on the box said #66652, but the box itself said #66662 in BIG BOLD LETTERS. Shows how little we pay attention to detail nowadays. I had to reorder, and the right ones came the second time around. I read that they also did this same thing to another guy.

In many ways, this set is more than what I need. I would say it compares favorably to similar products with aluminum presentation cases, despite its lower price range. It also stands out compared to similarly priced sets of individual tools. The tools shown are of reasonably good quality. The only problem was that there was that some of the tools needed a bit of cleaning up from manufacturing marks.

The most common tools are well made, and the various edges of the spatula are reminiscent of a multi-tool with sharp and serrated edges, as well as a bottle opener. The knife and tongs are of reasonable quality.

The case is typical of many these days with an aluminum appearance, only to my surprise it's real aluminum. For the price, that's more than I expected. The idea of a presentation case at all was more than I really needed. Each tool has an elastic loop to support it at one end and a Velcro strap at the other, so it's not hard to keep things organized. Then again, you will need to have free hands, and stretch the loop out for each tool, so if you are on the lazy side, this set will be a bit more work than just leaving things hanging. Then again, each major tool has a loop for that, so you can use or ignore the case.

The individual knives and corn holders are also of reasonably good quality. Although the brush and grill brush are also well made, they are consumable type items that should last a season at most, as would competing brands. Both have easily removable ends, and I was disappointed that I can't find replacement parts for them. For a set that goes in a display case, it would be nice to still have matching pieces after a season.

Overall, I got a high end set for the price I expected to pay for a more moderate set of quality individual tools without a case.

This item looks great and many of the pieces are very nice and of good enough quality for its use. However, I found that the items I use the most, the grill fork, tongs and spatula, were made of steel too thin and they bent too easily. Specifically I was using items to flip over a rack of ribs and they bent under the stress. I returned this item.

This is a pretty good set for the price. We aren't planning to use the steak knives because we have another set of much higher quality, but the other utensils are perfect for our grill. We haven't had any problems with the steel or any loose parts. The case is a little cheaply made, but it's just a case, so I'm not too worried about that.

While the principle of the product is rather simple (a flat piece of metal with spikes sticking up), it is very useful. The instructions are very easy coat with a light coating of oil, and drop the potatoes on the metal spikes. Stick on BBQ and cook. Allegedly cooks faster than potatoes would in an oven.

Here are my reflections after my first time using this contraption:

1) I started cooking potatoes at the same time as the steak and vegetables. By the time my steak and asparagus were cooked, the potatoes needed another 10 minutes or so. In hindsight, I should have started the potatoes while the grill was heating up; and they would have been done on time

2) I varied from the original instructions wrapping two of the four potatoes in aluminum foil before placing them on the spikes. They cooked faster, though had less of a roasted taste (that I found very desirable!)

3) On one of the four spikes I placed a sweet potato which tasted fantastic after coming off the grill! It needed no foil, and cooked a little faster than the exposed (foil-free) potatoes.

In summary, you should probably start cooking the potatoes while the grill is heating up. You can wrap them in foil to make the job faster; though it will cut back on the nice roasted flavor that you otherwise get.

I gave it 4 stars because it isn't 100% non-stick, even with a coat of oil. When I pull potatoes off the rack, they tend to stick to the spike and tear that part of the potato open. Still taste great, though!

Bought this on a whim to add to the other grill accessories in the garage. Didn't really cook the potatoes quicker than before and was tough to clean. It does keep the spuds in place (as long as there aren't more than 4) where you can continue to brush them with melted butter, mmmmmmmm. Be sure to use non-stick spray (found that out the hard way). Save your money wrap them in foil and throw them on.

I received one of these grills as a Christmas gift in 2011 and I used it for the first time last night. The main reason I waited so long is that apparently no matter whom you buy this from -and it's sold under a lot of different brands -nobody who's marketing it includes instructions on how to use it. The packaging has the features and how dandy it is, but nothing on temperature, how to prepare the potatoes, where to put it on the grill, how long to cook cook it. Nada.

Reviews here have been the only source of decent info. So I'm here to say that it works great on my gas grill. I heated the grill to medium indirect (350 or so; lighting only the two front burners) rubbed the potatoes with olive oil and sprinkled them with a little kosher salt. I sprayed the thing with olive oil non-stick (more about this in a minute), stuck on the two potatoes (russet bakers) I was roasting and put it over the burner at the back that wasn't lit. Closed the lid. 30 min. wasn't enough but 45 seemed good. I cranked the grill up to indirect high (450-500) and grilled a flank steak for slightly-not-long-enough (my bad, not complaining) about 7 minutes with the potatoes still in place. The potatoes were perfectly done.

Now here's the duh part: I should have realized that I didn't need to spray the un-potatoed end of the rack. It would have been nice if someone had mentioned this in spite of the obviousness. I wouldn't have had to spend time with the Brillo pad this morning getting the welded-on spray off. Next time.

My take is that this product is better than its packaging and lousy (mostly none) customer support would suggest. I like it quite a bit. I'll use it again. I took a star off for how unhelpful and stupid the presentation was.

Honest reviews on Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Potato Grilling Rack

There's junk and then there's junk! This thing is a candidate for the Ripoff hall of fame. Potatoes cook unevenly and the skins are burned black due to considerable amount of time needed to make the food halfway edible. Of course, there's no satisfaction guarantee offered to consumers. I'm sure the folks who brought this lousy product to market had to have known it was an impractical and useless product but they just wanted to make a buck.

I pimped out my hubbies man grill for his birthday. We used this first time yesterday. The potatoes were wonderful. When I read the package info, I'm thinking now how would "barbecuing" a tator be different than baking or even oven roasted. Trust me, they are. They are crispy outside and fluffy in the middle.

At first glance I was very impressed by the quality of this Spatula. I keep seeing other reviews of customers receiving used products. And I'm wondering if mine was previously used or not handled carefully. The item as a whole looks untouched, but where the metal meets the plastic I found a small scratch mark. Not sure what caused it. I also ordered a set of tongs that came in an amazon box with the original weber box inside. The spatula just arrived in the amazon box with bubble wrap.

I don't like to make assumptions without solid facts. So a possibility is that, someone received this product, sent it back because of that minor scratch and then was sent to me.

This is why I can only give this item 3 stars instead of 5.

I built my own table for my XL BGE and order the cover for it. My table is 33" x 60" and the cover fits perfectly. The material is very good quality.

The cover fits my extra long table and the chimney cap is an excellent way to take off and replace the cover. Materials are thick and seem to be high quality. And the logo is very cool

This is my second one of these. I use it to cover my Marine Magna Stainless Grill which I have mounted on a pole in my back yard. It fits great and the first one held up for 3 years in the relentless Florida sun. It finally tore in the "nameless storm" we recently experienced that generated winds higher than our last hurricane. If the weatherman had properly prepared us, it would have been taken inside. I only hope they are still producing this in 3 more years when I'll need another, and have even considered buying a spare now. Just need to decide if the grill will outlast this cover!!!
