PRO500RBPSS is a great grill from Napoleon, solid built and good looking with quality stainless steel. Assembling it might take a bit longer than my previous Weber Genesis but it was not as complicated as it look.

I have paid more for replacement probes than the original cost of the Igrill itself. One of the most disappointing gadgets I have ever purchased! Somebody in manufacturing needs to wake the $&@&$& up!

Two uses does not seem like much work went into the design of these probes. The price is too steep for such a consumable part.

IGRILL MEAT PROBE I have been using the maverick brand probes for many yrs and have had a couple of failures with the probes but nothing like the igrill probes. When receiving igrill for fathers day as a gift one of the new probes would not work and the second probe quit on the second time using it. Contacted igrill two weeks ago and they said they would ship one probe to me. Have not seen it yet ! Nice concept, but probes are junk and too costly for replacement after a couple of useage. Now I have another electronic for the junk pile. If I had zero stars to rate I would !

If anyone has a better solution please add comments.

Thanks

I don't usually do something like this but I had my first igrill and one of the probes failed. I went to best buy, bought a new igrill took new probes out and replaced them with the bad ones within 14 day return policy. if they put out a garbage product they deserve the return hassles that evolve from companies like best buy sending the entire unit back as not working. as other probes go bad I will continue to buy new igrills and return them with the bad probes. i encourage everyone to do the same.

probe is super sensitive to open flame and hi temp common to grill. makes overall device unreliable to cook expensive meats on grill. after multiple failures, I now use old digital. great idea...pobe is technically in need of improvement quickly before bad reputation sets in. blogs are on their way.

This fit my new style Performer grill perfectly. Doesn't blow off in the wind, either. One small issue is that rain water will pool on top of it over the counter part of the grill. Mosquitoes will breed in this water pool. Try putting something on top of the counter, like a small plate, then cover the grill. The plate will tent up the cover, making the water run off.

I am happy with this cover. It fits perfectly on my 2008 Weber Performer model #848001 which is the dark blue model. No problems with the fit. We get very high winds in the winter, and so far have not had any super bad winds, but I've had good luck so far by simply placing a couple of vinyl tipped metal construction spring clips at apposing corners around the legs of the Performer. I can't see how it could blow off with the 2 clips in place. When I take it off to use the Performer, I simply fold it up loosely and put it in the fold out charcoal hamper with my bag of charcoal. Seems well made. No Problems. I recommend it.

Even though the product description says that it fits 2005 and newer grills, I can verify that it fits my 1999-era Weber 761001 22 1/2-Inch One-Touch Platinum Charcoal Grill, Black just fine. After 14 years, the original Weber cover that I bought was stiff and cracked and falling apart from exposure to the sun, rain, and snow of Wisconsin, so it was high time to replace it.

After so many years, I had forgotten just how flexible the fabric on the cover was. It's much easier to get the cover on an off when it hasn't shrunk and gotten stiff from age! It does have a tendency to balloon in a wind, so putting a piece of firewood on the top will keep the cover from blowing off and landing somewhere downwind.

There are two things I would change about this cover:

1) a vent of some kind at the top, so that the wind would flow throw instead of ballooning it, or alternately, some clips or velcro straps to secure it to the grill legs. I might add some grommets and velcro straps to do just that.

2) a change in the sewing pattern or something that would keep the part that covers the table from becoming a puddling spot for water. I would guess this ages the vinyl prematurely, plus it collect dirt and debris which makes it get dirty easier, and if left for an extended period of time, the puddle of water could attract mosquitos. I think I can get around this by putting something on the table before covering it so that the cover tents over it and makes the rain runoff instead of puddling.

Overall, I think it was worth the extra money to buy a Weber-branded cover. It's made well and it fits the grill perfectly. The guy at Ace Hardware mentioned that the Weber-branded covers are made better, which is why mine lasted as long as it did. If you get several more years of use from a higher-cost cover, the difference in cost is worth it in my opinion.

Honest reviews on Weber Performer Grill Cover

This cover fits great on our '07 grill, no complaints there. However in the short time we have had it, it has blown away twice. Thankfully we found it both times, but we are definitely planning on putting some ties on it so that we can keep it on the grill. I know these crazy Kansas winds don't help, but I guess I'm disappointed that Weber didn't think of that themselves.

If you have the new style Weber this cover fits like a glove.

Since this item has a table that is flat, I put a piece of foam

on the table so rain runs off the cover.

The cover won't stay sloped like the picture, rain will flatten the cover.

It does not leak, but I'm sure after a year or two you may have to put

water repellent on like thy use on tents, if that matters to you.

A year later, 6/3/2012, it steal works like new, no leaks. It's been out all this time.

I have been nursing my old grill along for a number of years, and one of the features that I struggle with is the ignitor. I've bought factory replacements a couple of times, with limited success. This one, however, is a winner! It was easy to connect, and it lights first time every time (as long as the battery is good.)

It's made to mount in the hole where the old ignitor would normally go, but it's bigger than my old ignitor. I just mounted it to the side of the control panel with two-sided tape, and that works for me.

I'd definitely recommend it.

Most of the smoker boxes that I've seen are too small, poorly made, and are for wood chips only. This box is perfect for me since I prefer wood chunks.Even though it's made in India, it's quality is excellent. The top slides on to the bottom and the handle folds over for easy storage.Another positive is that the only holes in the box are on the top. This is perfect for long lasting smoke,no flame-up, just smoldering wood.I use this on a Weber propane grill, resting it on a flavorizer bar with the burner beneath on low.I know this box will last many, many years.

This is a great smoker box!

A few things that stood out to me when I first opened the box:

The thickness of the walls. I was worried it was going to be made from flimsy sheet metal, but I was mistaken. This is a good, study box.

The handle is a useful feature. I didn't really pay any attention to this until I had to move it while I was grilling.

One thing to pay close attention to is the height of the box. This box will not fit under my grate because it's too tall. So if you are looking for a box to sit on the flavor bars, make sure this box will fit your grill. I have been sitting the box on my grate and it is been giving me great results.

My wife bought me this for a Christmas gift. I've been a back yard barbecue fan for many years and have put in the time needed to learn proper fire management and what it takes to turn out good product. I used this cameron steel box smoker according to directions with the two tablespoons of chips and cooked two Omaha steaks with it. The results were terrible as used with the instructions given. Bitter meat and basically, it ruined the steaks.

The concept with this product is flawed right from the start. If you're smoking in an enclosed box with no air flow, you'll get incomplete combustion of the chips, which in turn, produces creosote. Creosote is what produces a bitter flavor on the meat. Poor air flow in any kind of smoker will cause this problem. Any pit master will tell you the same thing. If you live in a northern climate and can't be bothered with setting up your smoker on a snow covered patio deck, you're better off going to your local BBQ restaurant, rather than wasting time with this lazy-que meat ruin-er.

My BBQ team Slap Yo Daddy BBQ from Diamond Bar, California, has been competing using these smokers which I bought off Amazon with free Prime shipping. They work flawlessly and are easy to use and clean up. Our WSMs regularly allow us to win Grand Championships even when we go up against other smokers costing over $15,000.

The key step once your smoker arrives is to ensure you season it properly. New WSMs will tend to overheat until you are able to get grease and gunk on the inside and around the rim where the lid sits to ensure an air tight seal. The fastest way to season is to do the following: Phase One cover the water pan completely with aluminum foil and run a full load of lit Kingsford briquettes and let it run as hot as it can with no water in the pan (over 350 degrees) to burn off any manufacturing residue. Clean out the ash and proceed to phase two.

Phase Two fill the charcoal basket 1/2 full of unlit briquettes. Then put in a 1/2 chimney of lit Kingsford briquettes in the middle. This will allow a slow burn for 3-5 hours at 72 degrees outside temperature. Adjust the vents to get 275 degrees on the dome thermometer. Put bacon strips, chicken parts, pork fat, or any other scrap meat you don't plan to eat. The key is to get fatty meats to generate lots of grease. Toss in a couple of tennis-sized wood chunks to generate smoke. Repeat Phase Two at least twice before you cook meat that you want to eat.

Phase Three When you cook meat you plan to eat, take a tip from me and don't use any water in the pan. When I cook, I just cover the water pan with foil top and bottom. I foil it twice so I can remove the second layer after the cook and refoil it. That way, I don't have to clean my pan. It works just as well, AFTER YOU SEASON YOUR WSM, when you cook without water in the pan. Dry heat allows the crust to form faster on the meat (called the bark). Once the crust forms on the meat, you can introduce moisture. I just spray water with a regular spray bottle to encourage bark formation after the initial crusting (Maillard reaction) has begun. To test for properly formed bark, use your finger nail and scrape the meat surface. If the crust has formed, it will not come off when you gently scrape it with your fingernail. If the crust comes off, the bark has not set (still wet) so don't spray until it sets. Let it cook longer and check back in 15 mins. You'll get much better results this way. We've won many awards with this technique.

When it comes to cleaning your WSM, never wash the insides. Get a good grill brush and scrape down the insides and dome. You need the "aroma" which takes several years to build up. I NEVER mix my meat WSMs from my seafood and hotdog WSMs. Nothing destroys the aroma faster than cooking fish/seafood/hotdogs in a WSM used to cook chicken, ribs, pork, brisket, and tri tip. That's why you should buy a pair if you plan to cook seafood/fish/hotdogs. Better yet, get a Weber Kettle for those meats. Remember to always empty the ash from the bottom and grease on the foiled water pan to avoid fires and any rancid old oil smell before you cook. When you need to clean the grates, put the grates in a big plastic trash bag, put on gloves, and spray oven cleaner on the grates while in the bag and let sit for 1/2 hour. Hose off the grates. It's as easy as that. To clean the outsides, I use Simple Green spray.

Enjoy your WSMs. They are awesome and built to last.

As a fan of the earlier Smokey Mountain Cooker, I'm surprised and gratified with the changes they made to the smoker.

The previous smoker was an easy 5 stars in my book. I guess I'd have to give this one 6 stars, because it's better!

After using my old smoker for some time, I began finding ways to improve it. It seems that Weber thought so too, and their changes include all of mine plus a few more.

Here are some important improvements:

Wider door for adding charcoal & such. This is NOT a small detail but rather a much appreciated design change. The older model's smaller door made it more difficult to place wood chunks or new charcoal where I wanted them and once upon a time I knocked the water pan down into the coals trying to put a wood chunk toward the back of the smoker.

The door latch is spring loaded and features a lever type handle. The previous door latch is not spring loaded and had a featureless round knob. It was less secure and not always easy to tell if the latch was fully closed. Now it's obvious -for those of us who need things to be obvious. :)

Built-in thermometer! To think I paid more than Amazon's current price on the smoker and then another $50 on a thermometer. Mine is even in the same place on the lid. Great minds think alike, I guess... and Weber added this useful feature while keeping the price under control.

Bottom ash catch pan. I never thought of that one but then again I have a concrete pad set up and it was never a big deal to sweep up a few stray ashes.

Overall, the smoker performs as well as the older model but is much easier to use. With the thermometer, it will be much easier to maintain temperature and smoke up some great grub right out of the box.

I am by no means an expert, but here are a few quick tips for using this smoker.

0. If you are interested in instant gratification, get a gas grill or go out for dinner. It takes some work, time and patience to use and maintain this smoker.

1. Keep the temperature as stable as you can.

2. Don't lift the lid any more than you have to (for mopping, adding charcoal, etc.

3. Use briquets, at least at first. It's much easier to work with compared to lump charcoal. If you do choose to use lump charcoal, don't add any extra wood chips or would chunks! You'll oversmoke the food and that's bad!

4. Start early. Give the charcoal time to start up, and the liquid in the water pan to get up to temperature before you put on the food.

5. Line the water pan with aluminum foil. Trust me; it will be much easier to clean later if you do!

6. Make small changes to the vents when you need to adjust the temperature. Give it some time to work.

7. Get a good book on smoking. I think we all know a good place to look for one...

8. The internet is your friend. Check out Weber's site, some of the bbq forums and most definitely Virtual Weber Bullet.

Best Deals for Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Smoker 18.5 Inch

I bought this smoker after extensive research. I have always been the "grill master" in my family, but never invested in a smoker. After using the Weber website and a few other websites dedicated to smoker cooking, I was able to successfully smoke 2 whole chickens the first time! The chickens were moist and had the most delicious, delicate, smoky favor!

I was so confident in my skills that a few weeks later ( and after much research) I had a BBQ at my house and smoked 15 lbs of chicken, 4 slabs of ribs, and 2 pork shoulders! I had to stay awake most of the night before (off & on), but the thermometer and the ease of use in adding charcoal made it very easy... I received rave reviews for my meat at the BBQ the next day!

If you're in the market for a smokerthis is it! It's great for everyoneexperienced or newbieit's worth the money 2x over!!!

P.S.I didn't bother with a lot of the extras but the following items were invaluable. I used paraffin cubes that worked wonders!!! (non-toxic/no tastefound at Lowes) Also, If you're planning on ribsinvest $15 in a standing rib rackyou can stand 4 slabs up at a timeconserving space while not compromising on taste...

Happy Smoking!

Honest reviews on Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Smoker 18.5 Inch

Having been a Weber user since 1975, I figured that this was going to be a great little smoker. I had never smoked a thing in my life (Not entirely true, I grew up in the 60's).

It took about 15 minutes to assemble. A snap. And since it was in 3 major pieces, it was easy to get from the assembly area, the living room, to the smoking area outside. I poured in enough briquets to fill the briquet containment ring. Heck, I didn't know what was too much or not enough. Turned out it was a good amount.

I lit it up just like the Weber kettle I have and got the coals all toasty. Put on the middle stage, got the hose and filled the water bowl, put on the top grate, threw on a 6 pound pork roast that I had put a dry rub on (about.com, dry rub recipes, Kansas city style). Put on the lid and began smoking, the meat that is.

I fiddled with it for about an hour just getting a feel for the air adjustments. It didn't take much to get a temp set perfect.

I added briquets, 10-15, every 90-120 min or so and rustled the others around to keep the ash off of them. A long pair of cheesy, dollar store tongs was helpful for doing this. I also added a stick of well-seasoned plum wood at the same time. Nummy nummy!

8 hours later I had a smoked pork roast that was GONE after being done as all of the neighbors wanted to try some. Needless to say it was a hit with me and a crowd.

Next day I fired it up, put a brined whole chicken on it with NO rub or sauce. 3.5 hours later I had chicken to die for.

My wife told me I could NOT smoke our Westy.

Buy this thing. Painless, fiddleless, fool proof. Nuff said. Straight up. (Did I mention how well made and heavy duty it is?)

Y'all gotta smoke with this think.

Purchased this smoker to replace the previous Weber version (model 2820), which I enjoyed for several years. Used the new one on arrival to smoke the Christmas turkey, and it worked like a champion. Two major improvements I noticed were increased water pan capacity, and the new, larger door, which makes adding charcoal and water easier. I recommend this smoker.

If you have a small single gas valve grill, this is the one you want. It's a little wider than some, spreads the flame out a little better. It's "stainless" but if you grill a lot, it will probably eventually corrode like all the others of its kind as the salts and acids from the food get to the burner through the lava rock and draw moisture when not in use. We get a season or two out of them. Keep a spare on hand!

Nice, heavy and sturdy. Bought this to replace the rotisserie forks (chromed type) on a 304 stainless GE Monogram outdoor gas grill. Same rotisserie as the older DCS and others used. The stainless rod is supposedly 1/2", but forks that fit are hard to find. So I went to my shop and sanded the edges of the rod a little to allow these forks to fit. Now the grill is all 304 stainless. My only modification to the forks will be to replace the hex set screws with thumb set screws, so I won't be needing a wrench to tighten the forks to the rod.

A few years ago, I purchased a 48" Natural Gas Wolf grill it's beautiful. Almost immediately, the plating on the spit forks started to fail. I noticed small spots of rust after moderate use & started to research replacements. I saw these & ordered them hoping that they were what I thought all 304, larger, stronger... They've surpassed my expectations. Beautifully constructed, VERY strong, and VERY sharp. I kept my old spit forks for times when we have company & I need to do a couple birds on the rotisserie but I'm almost embarrassed for Wolf that the forks were so cheaply made. I'm very happy to say that now I own spit forks that are commensurate with the quality of the grill they're used in. My only beef (and it's a minor one) is the lack of thumb screws but after using them a few times, I may even prefer the setup how it is since a small set of pliers does the trick quite nicely. If you're researching spit forks, spend the extra $10 to buy these 304 stainless ones over the chrome plated ones so you'll never have to replace down the road.
