If you buy this smoker grill, be prepared for the following. It is not completely bad, but it is typical low quality merchandise from communist China that is only warranted by the manufacturer for 3 months. It is made of thin sheet metal, has misaligned holes, screws that are made of soft asian metal so the heads will definately strip out, missing parts, merchandise arriving in an old, beat up box that is held together with packing tape, substandard parts, poorly fitting parts, wobbly cart, etc. Also be prepared to accept the fact that the life span of this product is at best 3-4 years quite a bit longer though, if you really take good care of it.

The paint on this grill will peel and fall off the first time you heat it up. The thin sheet metal will then be exposed to the elements and it will rust immediately. So, when you buy it, also buy several cans of quality Rustoleum high heat paint. You will literally have to touch it up after every third use or so. This advice isn't just me talking. This comes from the directions that came with it. My advice is to paint the whole thing with a good quality, high heat paint before you ever use it for the first time. Stop the rust before it ever starts.

Something else you should know: The lower grates that the charcoal is supposed to sit on are literally the thickness of spokes on a bicycle wheel. They are extremely thin, cheap wire making up these grates. The whole grill is 36 inches across, but the charcoal grates only cover about 2/3 of this. The charcoal grates came wrapped in a lot of heavy grease to keep them from rusting before they could make the trip across the ocean to the USA. What I did was immediately threw away the lower charcoal grates that came with the grill and got two old grill grates that came out of an old Weber gas grill that was made back in the 1990's. I turned them lengthways and placed them end to end across the bottom of the grill and they fit perfect! Then I went out and bought a 13x9 sheet cake pan and drilled holes all across the bottom and sides and used this as a charcoal tray/basket. If you were to place the hot coals directly on the bottom of the barrel box, it would burn through in no time.

All in all, it is a basic cheap smoker/grill that is really not as bad as I may be making it sound like, but it will require several modifications before you can ever use it for the first time. It will reasonably do a halfway decent job for you, but will last you only a few seasons if you irresponsibly leave it outside in the rain and snow uncovered. If you keep it garaged, cleaned, and maintained it will last quite a bit longer.

Another thing that should be noted. There is absolutely no way of contacting the company that manufactures this grill. None! The name on the grill and the instruction manual that comes with it says Omaha Grills. Yet the manual contains no information on how to contact the manufacturer for replacement parts, warranty concerns, questions, etc. The manual has no address, no telephone number, no website, nothing. I have searched all over the internet trying to locate any business by this name and only one company comes up. They sell only gas grills and have nothing to do with the making of this smoker. I called them and asked. It's as if the company simply does not exist! So you must ask yourself: What sort of manufacturer purposely hides this information and won't even tell you how to find them? Yet they want you to spend your hard earned money buying their product and enriching them? Simply put, if you need replacement parts, be prepared to make them yourself or use spare parts from other grill manufacturers. That's what I had to do.

I specifically bought this particular product because it was the only one of it's kind available on the market. I wanted to use it as a smoker only. I didn't want to buy a barrel type smoker with an offset firebox attached because offsets are too difficult to control temperature. I have much better results when the charcoal is right in the same box with the food. Also, and more importantly, I wanted a traditional barrel type smoker with an old fashioned,"centerport" lid with solid walls on each end of the smoker, not a "clamshell" type lid where the whole upper half of the unit lifts up everytime you raise the lid. Brinkmann's, Char-Grillers, Char-broils, and every other barrel type grill on the market today all have the clamshell type lids. These types lose their smoke and temperature immediately when the lid is opened. I chose this unit because it's the only unit on the market that had the exact features I wanted and was priced less than $150.00. I didn't have much to choose from if I wanted to get these exact features in a smoker.

To save on shipping costs, I went down to my local neighborhood hardware store and asked them if they could get this same smoker? They looked it up in their catalog and found that their supplier offered this same smoker. I had my local hardware store order the smoker and it was delivered to their store on their regular biweekly load free of any delivery charge. So that is a way to save money on shipping charges with this unit.

We've had the side burner install for almost a year and it still looks like new granted we've only used it a few times but being outside in the elements with just the lightweight cover it comes with had me a little concerned. Not impressed with this mount, really like the grill but this mount lacked when compared to the itc surfit. Its thin aluminum pipe with plastic fittings. The base does not require drilling a hole but I could see the unit filling up with dirt and being a mess to get out. Its not as flush to deck as a surfit and overpriced for the quality.

I cook all the time BUT it rusted out inside. I can not get parts to replace what appears to be a perfectly beautiful grill on the outside. Quality built and heavy. Although another review said they weren't exactly the right size, these fit my Weber Genesis E-320 perfectly. I got these because the original porcelain coated grates that came with the grill started rusting and chipping after a couple of years. Maybe I could have been more careful about cleaning them perhaps I was responsible for scratching the porcelain. But I would rather not worry about that and clean these stainless steel grates any way I want to. These don't sear meat quite as well as the porcelain grates didmaybe because they are thinner, but they still make fine grill lines and I cook exactly the same temperatures and times that I did before. I wish these weren't so incredibly expensive but most Weber products are. I'm going to watch the clearance sales at my local stores and pick up another pair if they're ever 50% off.

Just got my set of 7528's after trashing the porcelain/cast iron originals. They lasted one year. The first thing I did was clean them with hot water and soap. Then I gave them about 10 minutes at 500+ degrees. After they cooled I coated them with olive oil and gave them a good 15 minutes at 500+ which produced a nice patina.

For better results, I always use olive oil or Weber Grill'N Spray before each use. Tonight We had marinated chicken breasts....WOW they were good.

I purchased these for my Weber Genesis grill. As grates go, they are pretty solid and pretty expensive but I guess there's a premium to pay for getting a genuine Weber product....

In my mind, there's no rocket-science to buying grates that are specific to one's grill. Either it fits or it doesn't. So, what it boils down to is how much one wants to spend. I was willing to spend a little more to get grates which were identical to those which came with my grill. So, in shopping around, I found that Amazon had the best price for such. The free Super-Saver shipping also sweetened the deal for me.

If there's a downside to the product it is in the fact that the length of the grates are about an eighth of an inch too long. As such, they do not fit side-by-side in the grill unless you angle one of the grates diagonally ever so slightly. This is not a problem unless you are a fanatic about symmetrical grill marks on your food! Were it not for this minor flaw (coupled with my high expectations about quality for the price) I would have provided a five star rating.

These grilling planks are simple to use--just soak them in water for a couple of hours and then put the lucky fish or meat item onto them and grill away!

I used them for grilling a large salmon fillet, and it turned out delicious! When the planks and fish came off of the grill, the smoky cedar aroma made my mouth water. The fish turned out flaky and moist.

However, these planks have a couple of cons that I wish I had understood beforehand.

1. They are made in China.

2. They are not meant to be reusable, and they cost over four dollars each so they are a bit of a splurge.

However, I do recommend giving them a try, especially if you enjoy learning new grilling techniques or have been looking for an easy way to grill fish.

Not only are they easy to use, they come with delicious recipes that make you seem like a skilled chef. My family hates fish but when I use these with the Planked Salmon Spice Rub they gobble it up and ask for more. It's almost a miracle.

Best Char-Griller 2222 Pro Deluxe Charcoal Grill & Smoker Deals

I have had one of these for 2+ years and use it a lot. Without question this is the best grill I have ever owned. Super-heavy real cast iron grate, loads of cooking space, easy enough to dump the ashes etc., lid sels well etc.

I do not own a cover for it and have kept it outdoors all this time. Still looks decent except the stained wood shelves have lost their finish. Anyone with a tiny bit of ambition could re-stain them. But the painted finish on the grill itself is quite durable.

Space like this gives me a great deal of control. I have room to build a big fire in the middle, keep a cast-iron griddle to one side and use the other edge for "holding" stuff off the direct heat etc. A real winner.

Can be bought cheaper and assembled at Lowes stores.

It's just what I wanted!

I don't give it 4 stars because the warming rack has a poor quality. After the first barbecue it was a little bended and some grill wires got loose.

Pros:

1. The main grill area is 29" by 20". It has 4 small independent cast iron grates as you can see in my customer pictures. Removable at any time. The warming rack size is 1/3 of the main grilling area.

2. If you follow the smoking instructions you will have a great taste on your meats and vegetables.

3. Wood is better than charcoal.

4. It's very easy to clean. You just pull out the dump ash pan and wash it.

5. It's very easy to assembly. Follow the instructions.

6. It has a thermometer. You can keep an eye easily on the temperature.

Cons:

The quality of the warming rack. Personally, I wouldn't stop buying it for this issue but I think that Chargriller could make it better.

Finally, if you have it at your patio or outside of your house I would suggest you to cover it with something, just a precaution. Don't forget to oil the cast iron grates after cleaning. They would last longer.

I love my Chargriller Pro Deluxe!

I had one of these about 5 years ago. It's massive with adjustable charcoal pan and in/out air. If you know how to grill with charcoal, you'll like it--if you're an idiot that thinks your a grillmaster, you will probably screw up dinner on this just as fast as you do on everything else. The only problem I had is that the grates (cast iron) got rusty after the first season, but I'm not exactly vigilant about seasoning cast iron with oil every time. If you slather those suckers up with bacon grease after you grill and brush the grates, you'll be good for a long time. Oh and the air vents remain adjustable. Some cheaper charcoal grills have friction-based air adjustments that cannot be retensioned--this one you can always tighten up. Feels a little wobbly when you drive the wheels over patio bumps, but they all do that. Works great for indirect smoking because it's wide enough to get a big drip pan in the center and many coals on the sides so you don't need to reload charcoal all day, just watch your air and temps. I gave this grill away when I moved to a different state, I kinda regret it. I love old school webers, but this thing was more tweakable and you can lift the charcoal all the way up if you're coals on the verge of dying and you don't feel like lighting off any more.

I've used this unit for a few years now and it does a good job. My issue with this product is replacement parts. The only place you can seem to get parts is from the factory and the shipping is going to cost you as much or more then the parts you need. I've been everywhere and the only place who carries parts is Char-Griller. I needed replacement cast iron grates and for 4 of them it's about 36 bucks but they want 23 bucks to ship them. Stick with Weber BBQ's you can get parts at any store.

I have this product and I use it for many purposes. It is great not only for cleaning the grill grates, but also for cleaning the outside of the grill. Though I use it for the outside less frequently, I think that it preforms beautifully at getting rid of old stains and build-up on the grill. With some other scrubbers, a dirty hand-washing is necessary but I can put this straight in the dishwasher, which is super convenient for me after each time I grill. I did not have any shipping issues, and received the product in good condition; but it would not be the fault of the product for poor packaging, it works great!

At less than six bucks, and free delivery I couldn't pass it up. I tested it out on some thin strips of steak and it cooked them up wonderfully. I can think of only a few uses for this, but at the price I figure that I could buy a few and have a "make your own fajita" party or something and then throw them away if they aren't worth storing.

The overall manufacturing seems good, though I would have expected/hoped that the grilling surface was a little more substantial (cast iron) rather than pie-tin-thin.

My children and I use this OUTSIDE for fajitas and end up surrounded by neighborhood children and adults! We're the hit of the neighborhood and finish off our meals by popping off the top (be careful, it's hot!) by using the included forks for s'mores!

This is a versitile, not-for-adults-only indoor and out grill. It's very attractive, quite the conversation piece, easy to set up and to clean.

We use it much more than I ever dreamed. Originally I'd envisioned using it for romantic tete-a-tetes or for entertaining but surprisingly a pleasant surprise this grill has evolved into a useful and used often family cooking staple! Just add water and a sterno and voila! It cooks anything you would normally grill, just make sure your meats are thinly sliced. Heat and eat! Yum!

My eight-year-olds (well supervised of course) LOVE "showing off" before their friends. What a hit at slumber parties! Barbecue indoors! Conversation piece galore! Of course this makes for perfect gifting too: Neighbors, friends, teachers, coaches, babysitters, PTA donations... endless!

HIGHLY reccommend!

I bought this as a gift for my sister, who didn't think she would use it. It works very well and we have a ball slicing chicken, veggies, scallops -whatever. Make a few sauces and sit around the table grilling and chatting until you are full. Great for entertaining with a glass of wine. Something different and fun. Works very well and easy to clean. Big to store, but I don't have much space. It is also really smokeless.
