My first thought when I received them is that, "boy, are they huge!" But, after working with them I think they're just the right size. Rugged and well-crafted. The spatula comes with a small re-usable plastic strip that protects one side that has a pretty sharp scalloped cutting edge. Personally, I don't cut my meat to check it's done-ness, but I suppose you could :) I've now bought a magnetic tool holder and a cover for my grill. The cover that I purchased fits perfectly and even has a large zip pouch on the top that that tools (or something else) can fit in.

Hard to tell from the description but these are the correct replacement grates for a Weber A200 series grill "11.25 x 14.75". The measurements given in the description mean nothing, they are the size of the box used for shipping the grates.

Live and learn, have learned not to scrape porcelain enameled grates with a wire brush or metal scraper, easiest way to keep them looking new is to toss them in the dishwasher after every use, perhaps why they designed two of these sitting side by side rather than one large grate. Do that and you may not be buying replacement grates in the first place.

Bought these to replace the heavy cast iron grates that originally came with my Weber grill. They work and you can get a good sear on the first set of items that go on the grill, but these lightweight stamped steel grates don't hold heat like the heavy porcelain coated cast iron ones. There's nothing wrong with them, and they do the job effectively... just not as well as my old grates. I'd go back to the old ones, but the porcelain chipped off in enough places over the years that they're simply too rusty to use now.

UPDATE: 8/7/12

It's been a little over 2 years since I bought these grates and my experience has been underwhelming. The grates don't perform nearly as well as the originals (as mentioned before), but now after only 2 years, the grates are actually starting to warp and droop in the center of the grill (like if someone had placed something heavy instead of just cooking burgers and steaks). I'm dropping my review by one star (to two stars) for the lack of durability and lack of quality materials.

After 10 years the old Weber seemed ready for barby heaven, but I decided to look into replacing the guts. Pulled everything out, seriously cleaned the box, and installed new guts including these grates. Works like it did new and only cost about $100 for flavorizer bars, burner tubes, cooking grates, and igniter. I'm not handy AT ALL, but it was easy. Needed a philips screwdriver, and a 7/16's nut driver wasn't necessary but did come in handy. Took about an hour somebody good at this stuff could do it in 20 or 30 minutes.

It lets you cook at a higher heat, very easily, this is great for thick steaks. So this kind of cooking lets you cook at higher temps. But be careful. If you are smoking your food, you do not want to this grate, you need to go back to the solid iron grate with holes.

After 10 years the iron charcoal grate on my medium size egg split badly enough that charcoal fell through. I bought this as a replacement because it sounded like it might be an upgrade.

It should be noted that the description on amazon sounds like this an official BGE product. It isn't. It has a slightly smaller diameter than the original and a traditional grate like a weber. This means that It varies the heating characteristics of the egg. That may not be all bad, but be prepared to tinker with your usual arrangement. If you don't want to do that, stick with the egg grate.

The small grate itself appears to be high quality and costs a little less than an original BGE replacement. Whether it is an "upgrade" remains to be seen.

In the spring when grill accessories come back, I intend to get a slightly bigger one to bring the coals closer to the cooking surface.

Gave this product a try and I am not a big fan. When you fill this wire skewer with food it spins around and ends up not cooking evenly on all sides of the veggies and meat. You also can not leave a little space between the food like a traditional skewer so parts are not cooked in the middle. I also do not like having to swing the food around and onto the grill. Unlike the way the item is pictured, loaded from end to end with meet and vegetables, typical skewer cooking leaves a bit of space between the items being cooked. When we attempted to do so on these things, all the food just slides together in the middle. We decided to pack the food on more tightly, and we ended up with food that was nicely grilled on the edges, but not done in the center. Being able to marinate more easily is a plus, but I think I'll just go back to marinating before we put the food on a nice flat bladed skewer.

I bought these in Amazon's 4 for 3 promo and they work really well. I loaded mine full of vegetables and grilled them easily. The only problem I had was having heavier vegetables (squash) on top pushing down the light vegetables (bell peppers), but that wasn't a flaw with the skewer and was my own fault. One thing to remember is to chop your meat and vegggies larger then you would for normal skewers. The wire isn't that big around, but the pointy end is thicker than I was used to.

Overall, I really liked these. They do stay cool enough to turn with your bare hands. They are large, but I do think I need more. They aren't as pretty as your normal skewers if you want to serve them to individual people, but they work for a crowd. Great product.

I was so tired of wooden skewers and having to soak them. These skewers can be wound so they fit inside tupperware or ziplocs for marinating. and in any configuration on the grill. And no presoak needed. The only problem with it is that the more food you put on the skewers, the harder it is to flip or rotate everything evenly.

All I can say is WOW! I was skeptical in making this purchase because I've never had a good experience with shish-kebob skewers. The main reason I decided to buy these though, is because I have a round charcoal grill that is very inconvenient to cook on with regular skewers. I bought 4 of them, and after using them once, I'll probably buy more as gifts for friends and family. 4 skewers full of chicken, strawberries, and pineapple held enough food to feed 6 people. While cooking, both ends of the skewers remained cool to the touch while hanging over the edges of the grill. When it was time to flip the food, I simply grabbed each end of the skewer, pulled it taught and rotated it. Unlike every other skewer I've ever used, ALL of the food rotated with the skewer. During cooking, only one strawberry fell off the skewer, which is much better than usual (for me anyway). To wrap up, I'd say that if you like the idea, but are worried about whether it will actually perform as advertised, DON'T. You won't be disappointed by these skewers.

To the non-serious barbecuer, this item probably seems like a silly gimmick. But it is really quite helpful when working over charcoal/charwood. Before I had this "barbecue hoe" (a name that just rolls off the tongue) I'd use tongs or whatever else I could find to move my coals around, which was a bit messy. Can't wait 'til next BBQ season to get even more use out of the hoe.

UPDATE 7/30/2009: After using the product about a year, the metal hoe broke off the handle. Luckily, a neighbor has a welder and was able to reattach it without much trouble. But don't be surprised if the same thing happens to you.

Having looked for an Ash and Coal rake or hoe for awhile I settled on this one. It is beautifully finished and longer than anything else I could find. The hoe portion is also larger although set at about a 115 degree angle (angled away from the handle), which is not clear in the description. It is much longer than anything I saw and if you are looking for a hash hoe this would be the best choice (stainless). It appears (I have not used it extensively) that it will work very well for both charcoal and ash movement.

I can't comment (yet) on the durability but have noted that the socket on the end on the end of the handle has some play in it. It is secured by a small brad and I plan on pulling that, filling with epoxy and re-fastening it before too long.

A really lovely addition to the grill toolset.

I will update after use.

True you have to pour hot water on the meter, but it is very little. Just get some water almost boiling or microwave some for a minute, and all it takes is just a splash down the meter. Works ok. Magnetic strip doesn't bond too well to tank especially if you have a bump from a welded section. You get what you pay for.

They work, sorta! If you're holding your tongue right and say the right magic words you might be able to tell if there is propane in the tank... Well, actually we bought two: one for the home BBQ and one for the trailer. The BBQ unit seems to work fine but the trailer unit was very hard to tell whether there was any gas or not. But I must say that they work as well as anything else we've tried. After-market gauges are worthless, so this is about the best of the options.

I have an old Fiesta grill still hanging around that I love nursing along for as long as I can. I've had pretty good luck picking up replacements for most of the parts that have gone on it over the years. All except for the lower grate that holds the lava rocks just above the burner. For some reason I have just not been able to locate a grate that fits it exactly. A universal one that you can expand in either direction can do the job, but they leave a gap in each corner where you slide it out. My grate that has seen far better days measures 12 by 21 inches. This replacement one is 12 by 19 (and a smidge), which does the job nicely. I was not able to find another one that came this close on Amazon. They were all a little bigger or smaller that just doesn't work as far as improvising for this type of thing. If you own an old Fiesta or other type grill that is mentioned in the ad for this grate that measures out at that size, I suggest you pick up this model. The length is a little shorter, but the width is perfect, and that's what really matters...

I have a Broil-King Sovereign XL and these pans fit great. The OEM pans that came with the grill all had one little pin hole that allowed the grease to drip into the cabinet. I called BK and they sent out replacements, but they to had pin holes. I was little skeptical about these, since they are OEM. Luckily, they are all perfect. Fit just as they should. The only problem have with them, is that they are light and wind can move them out of place. I didn't knock the stars for this because this is not the fault of the pans. It is a design flaw.

Nice item if all you grill are the store bought 'packaged' flat pre-made small hamburgers. However not good if you make your own 'gourmet' 1/4 pounders, to small, also not good if you like cheeseburgers, can't use. Handle should be shorter, no need for the length it is now, as it makes the unit much to heavy. Would have been simple to design the unit so that one side could have been removed during cooking so that cheese could be added to the nearly finished hamburger and also to allow the unit to hold larger hamburgers. Sounded like a good idea, but a waste of money for a serious griller.

It is perfect for those frozen 1/4 lb hockey puck burgers, but it is way too thin for a real 1/3 or 1/2 lb burger. The picture on the packaging shows a 1-1/2" thick stuffed burger. There is no way such a piece of meat can fit in this thing! Totally false advertising, but if you saw this in a store that would be very apparent.

So I modified it by cutting off the wire acting as a hinge and added my own which allowed more room between the top and bottom. I then fashioned a new clip (which holds the pieces closed) that allows more room. Now my 1/2 lb turkey burgers fit perfectly. And thinner stuff will still work just fine.

Took me < 10 minutes. I am annoyed I had to re-engineer something that should have been engineered correctly to begin with.

Now I just put in my patties and place it so the side attached to the handle is up. Flip the whole over when appropriate, wait a few minutes and then open it up, flipping the top half (the one without the handle) under the handle half. Now I can put on my cheese and close the bbq lid to let it melt.

Burgers tend to stick, separate and fall through the grids on my grill. This device is 100% successful at preventing that event. Its worst feature is the combination of a long handle with a short grasping area. One needs a strong grip and a hot pad to reduce the risk of a bare handed grab of the hot forward part of the handle when removing it from the heat. So, it works well but burns the hand of the first time user. But not the second time!

We are glad to have found this. Have used it twice and it works like a charm. So nice that the burgers don't stick to the grill or end up sliding off into the fire. True, this is not feasible for quarter pounders, but for regular size burgers, it works perfectly.

This is one great grill. I have it for over one year now. Was fairly easy to assemble. Cooks evenly. This will sear the thickest if steaks. Can reach 700 deg or will slow cook with no problem. The best part no warping or discoloration of metals easy to clean.

Cons the ad photos show sides which do not come with unit and needs cover! Rain water gets inside from back and fills grease catcher and makes a mess if it over spills.

I just bought this item throught BBQPARTS.COM for only $11.89 each!! That is a huge difference between $19.00 or more that some company's want. I still think we are getting raked over the coals. But what can you do? If your grill is still in good shape other than the heat plates it is cheaper than getting new grill.
