This product is difficult to apply, as you are trying to fit a straight line of tape to a surface that is round and top and bottom. But I managed to make it work, and had adequate material, including a small surplus. But after cooking a pork roast for 14 hours overnight at 215 degrees, the tape had apparently lost its adhesiveness and separated on both the top and bottom of my Big Green Egg. I was unable to make adjustments while the grill was hot, and subsequently had to remove the product.

I bought two and they were better than I expected. The cast-iron pans are perfect for fajitas, but they also work great for a couple of hamburgers, bacon, veggies or anything else you'd like to "grill" on the stove (or on a real grill) when you don't need big, round, cast-iron pan. The top varnish on the wooden pan-holders quickly gets toasted, but that's part of it's charm, it goes with the cast iron. The little pot-holders for the handles are great for the table, but a larger mitt is safer while grilling. NOTE: this IS cast iron and you will need to properly "season" the pans before you first use them to keep food from sticking.

We bouight this set, not just for fajitas, but for meat/veggies after grilling. They work great and keep food hot. Also, the mitts work good when transporting the food to the platters. No unwieldy pot holders to deal with, another nice feature.

I bought this in hopes of being able to smoke more ribs at one time. After reading the reviewsI was sold on this model because it folds and should be easy to store. That unfortunately was about the only positive for this rib rack. The problems arose when I tried to use this for four racks of St. Louis Style Ribs.

Problem oneSpacing is too tight for St. Louis Style, so I can imagine that full size is out of the question. Maybe Cuisinart is in to Baby backs.

Problem 2Raised portion for support of ribs is in the cente so the ends of your rack of ribs just flops and sad to say will touch each other. This totally defeats the benefit of a rib rackProper and complete air flow between multiple racks of ribs in less space.

I used this once and doubt if I will use it again.

I have a medium sized Big Green Egg that I use for smoking. The grill is 14 inches in diameter and can be tight if I need to do two racks of ribs. If I cut a normal rack of ribs in half, the resulting meat is too short to fit in a combination roast holder/rib rack. The reason the Cuisinart works is that it has the two metal supports that run the length of the rack. That adds support for the meat in the middle, not just the edges. Short racks of three to four ribs will be easily supported in this device allowing me to do at least two full racks of St. Louis cut or baby back ribs.

The rack folds down for easy storage and is made from stainless steel. I spray the rack with an aerosol oil before I start cooking, then soak it in soapy water for an hour after a cook.

I have used this rack with baby backs, and they're pretty jammed in the rack and a bit hard to get out when they need to be sauced or checked for doneness. As usual, my ribs came out as tender as can be, but when this rack is filled, I needed to make sure that the racks of ribs were separated enough to allow the smoke to fully saturate the meat. With this rack, they tend to flop into each other.

ADDENDUM: After using this product a few times, I want to add that this is not an easy rack to clean. I've taken to soaking mine overnight to loosen all of the baked-on debris. Using a plastic mesh ball on this will pretty much pull the ball apart as it gets caught on the edges and ends of the rack, and it's easy to dislodge the moveable handles on the end which then have to be reinserted into the holder. Sadly, I'm still on the lookout for a rack I can use in my medium Big Green Egg.

This smoker is a small version of one a friend of mine purchased at Home Depot. I didn't purchase the larger one because it is extremely heavy. This smoker is very light and easy to put together. It does an adequate job of smoking fish and other smaller items. The negative things I have found are: (1) the firebox seems to get very hot on the left side near the air vent but the fire tends to burn slowly or go out on the right side, away from the air vent; (2) the thin construction of the unit makes for uneven temperatures throughout the indirect cooking part of the unit and (3) I have only used the unit five times and the paint is peeling extensively from the firebox container. I would say that the unit is worth the price and is a decent trade-off if you are looking for a lightweight unit. For smoking things like turkeys, however, I would recommend the larger, heavier unit.

I first saw this smoker while camping. The people next to me had one. They raved about it,so I bought one. First thing I had to do was go the Ace hardware and buy a sheet of steel grating to keep the charcoal from falling through the one provided.($20.00)It is working good after that, however to much heat on the fire box side.I'm going to fabricate a piece of sheet metal over it to lower the heat flow.I think I will be in business after that. Like other reviews said the paint burns off after first use. That does'nt bother me. I just want good food. One suggestion is to use more wood than charcoal.(tastier results)I do like it.

I have used this smoker a few times and have not had any trouble. Considering what I paid for it and its size, I did not expect it to be perfect, or competing in barbecue contests. It is a small, basic, offset firebox smoker, plain and simple. For my purposes it has worked just fine and I have found that with a little care, the paint on mine is not peeling as the other reviewers have noted.

First, I did not buy this product from Amazon, but felt compelled to let others know how I felt about this unit.

Like the other reviewer for this product, I find that temperatures are very inconsistent in this smoker. The unit permits a lot of heat loss due to the thin metal construction. There are also many leaks around the doors. To compensate for this problem it is necessary to use a lot of charcoal.

The charcoal grates that were provided allow a lot of charcoal to fall through the spaces. To combat this I stacked the grates in a criss-cross pattern. This puts the fire higher and closer to the opening to the cook chamber. Thus, the result is direct radiant heat between the cook chamber and the firebox. To combat this problem, another peice of sheet metal needs to be inserted between the compartments to minimize radiant heat. Otherwise, you need to open the cook chamber to rotate the meet. This causes more heat loss and the whole thing is a vicious cycle.

Finally, I had to check the coals on this unit once an hour at least to ensure that the coals were still burning or had not burned out.

Another reviewer who was reviewing a similar product (the Charbroil Silver Smoker) recommended creating a charcoal basket and I believe that the same would be appropriate for this model as well.

Also, as others noted, you will need to go out and buy yourself a can of black grill spraypaint as this contraption will be losing its paint finish in huge flakes. I took a stiff wire brush to it each time I finished using it and waited until the unit was completely cold before applying spraypaint to the bare surfaces.

The only good aspect of this smoker is that it is lightweight and easy to move.

In hindsight, I learned that I could do much better low, slow smoking for smaller peices of meat and chicken with my 18 1/2 inch weber silver kettle. My next smoker investment will be firebricks and grates so that I can make my own smoker in the backyard.

The grill is sturdy and has a removable central pot to hold the coal, and it is decorated with very cute but totally non function handles. The aforementioned coal pot is so small a standard briquet needs the corners broken off to fit down into it.

Cheap Outset F701, Cabernet Wood Smoking Chips(150 cu. in.)

In parts a great contributing flavor without overwhelming like hickory or mesquite can. However most of the "chips" are more like silvers. This is the only wood chips I prefer not to use my hands... to many remain stuck to hands. I recommend using a slotted spoon with small holes to strain the silvers out. I would love to give 5 stars aside of this issue.

I am writing this long term review because as so many reviews are just initial impressions when the product is new. They are hard to find, but some people will write a review later in the product's life cycle, especially if they have had problems. This is not one of those "problem" reviews. The Weber Q is my all time favorite grill.

Background Info:

I bought my "Q" back in 2004 when they first came out; there were only two models at the time, the Q and the Baby Q. The overall design theory and execution of a portable gas grill was amazing in my eyes like nothing I had ever seen before. I was in the market for a gas grill, and the portable nature yet still nice enough to grill on a daily basis design sold me instantly. I had used my dad's Weber gas grill since he bought it new in the mid 90's (comparable to today's Genesis models) and was impressed in every aspect, especially the longevity and quality of the components compared to "big box store" look-a-like grills. The price for a standalone Weber, like my dad's, was too high in my opinion, and I wanted more for my money. The Q's dual nature fit the bill perfectly. In addition to the Q, I bought about every accessory available at the time: rolling cart, Weber Q specific tools, cover, hose for external LP tank, etc. Every accessory followed right in line with the Q's portable design intent. The tools are my favorite as they snap into the side tables and easily fold up inside enhancing the go-anywhere part of the design. I recently (Summer 2008) upgraded my home setup to include the stationary cart for a more finshed look at home on the back patio.

Performance:

The grill holds a surprisingly large amount of food. I can grill for the whole family or more with no problems, (This totally depends on what you are grilling). I have grilled everything from the ubiquitous burgers, dogs, and brats to fajita meat and vegetables to corn on the cob and steaks. I can even fit 2-3 whole racks of ribs on the Q. Heating is surprisingly even with the rectangular shaped burner (which is stainless steel and after 4 seasons is showing zero signs of wear, corrosion, etc.). The heavy, thick cast iron grate should get most of the credit for the even heating. I really like the wide bars and tight spacing of the grate; I can grill sliced veggies and meats as if I were cooking on a skillet with no fear of them falling though. Temperature control is ultra easy with the single burner knob. I have taken the Q tailgating at sporting events, to picnics at the park, to friends' parties, etc. and it has performed flawlessly. It offers tons of cooking room for the size and minimal effort to bring along with the clever design of the grill and accessories. People are always amazed when they watch me unpack/pack the Q. Other than an occasional and end of season cleaning, this thing is maintenance free. Just brush off the grate, check the drip pan, and clean out the burned drippings in the bottom from time to time.

Final Thoughts:

Looking back at my Q experience, I wouldn't have it any other way. In fact, I can't imagine owning any other gas grill except another Q. If the day comes when I have to replace my beloved Q, I would probably stick with the original size, the 200 series; it is the perfect balance. The 300 series looks nice with the bigger size and extra burner, but I don't necessarily need the size and I feel it loses some of the portable utility that makes the original Q so great.

I had owned a Weber Q100 for a couple of years and loved it. Recently someone decided that they were more worthy of owning it than I was and they "liberated" it from me. Oh well.

I thought about several other options for a replacement and settled on the Q200. There is a Q220 but it looks like the only feature that you get for the extra money is a thermometer built into the lid (the lid may be built a bit higher according to the description but I couldn't tell for sure). The Weber 300 is in a similar shape but it is more of a conventional grill with a cart and a 20lb. tank. I bought the Q200 for these reasons:

* I can use it on a cart or take it with me if I go somewhere and want a grill with me

* It has enough grill space for a meal for 4-6 people, plenty for my needs

* The fold-out shelves are really convenient

* I really loved my Q100 and I thought that I should stick with a winning, proven design

I bought the better cart for this and I use the big 20# gas cannister. However, if it runs out at a bad time I can use the smaller cannisters as back-up. Plus, when I travel with it I leave the big tank and cart behind.

One more thing, now I use a bike chain to lock it onto my porch rail. I not going to let this one go without making it a little harder for them this time.

OK, I should have written this earlier, but I have figured I have used this Q-200 over 750 times!!

I cook dinner most nights on my grill, a meat, and also vegetables, some on the grill, some in foil. I think the secret to this grill is the cast grate, no other grill cooks so evenly, I hared those with cheap wire grates. I think the most amazing thing is after so many uses, it NEVER failed. I should clean it more often too, other than the drip tray, it gets a good cleaning only ever 100 or so uses. Just a brass brushing before each use. I'm amazed after 3 years of my hard use (more Abuse with my cleaning schedule!) this inexpensive grill still works as good as new. It does look pretty used, a few flare-ups have scorched the right side of the lid, but every part is 100% working.

To anyone that says Webber is not number one in quality, I invite you over next year to see if this little guy will be cooking it's 1000th dinner!!!!!

Oh, and I don't work fow Weber or Amazon, I'm a retail manager who apreciates a quality product in an age of throw away products.

Don't let the portability of this grill fool you. It cooks big and for many people at one time.

It take either the green camping propane bottles or hook it up to a 20 lb tank with the adapter hose (Recommended). The cool thing is if your big tank runs out without warning you can cook 2 or 3 meals with the camping Coleman propane until you get it filled.

Temperature control is great. You can get it real hot for searing steaks or low to roast whole chickens.

I don't know why anyone would buy a cheap import grill when you can have a weber Q 200 that will cook the same amont of food and have complete portability. This is a great little grill.

Good for grilling for a small family. It's not an el cheapo model. It's quality product that'll last atleast 10 yrs if you take care of it. Size is enough to feed one small family (2 adults and 2 kids) in one round of grilling.

Some people have reported problem that flame turns off due to wind. I experienced it too. The solution is to open the tank first, wait for few minutes and then ignite the flame. If you do both of them almost same time, regulator doesn't get a chance to stabilize for the tank's pressure and seems to turn off and on by itself.

This brush has a dual handle. The dual handle serves a great funntion when you want to apply extra pressure while cleaning your grill. I love that. The 2nd handle is screwed to the replacement head. That being said, the replacement head is threaded in plastic. The very first time i took the replacement head off to clean it, I stripped the plastic threads trying to get it to screw back on. So I gave it four stars because I had to buy a replacement head for it shortly after I bought it. BTW the replacement heads come with a metal insert thread in it to prevent stripping! why they couldnt do that to the original head is beyond me... oh wait i know, cuz then you wouldnt have to spend more money on them. So if you do buy this gorgeous grill brush expect to buy a replacement head shortly after. The only other negative about this brush is that when you do go to use the scraper you have to keep it angled up pretty high otherwise you are going to be rubbing the 2nd handle on your grill. Just an FYI. Overall the only reason to buy this grill brush over another with a dual handle is going to be how great it looks. Overall it does perform just as well as any other grill brush.

This is a sweet, easy to use digital thermometer. I use it primarily when I'm grilling outside but my wife also uses it for inside cooking jobs. It reads meat temps FAST and has preprogrammed temperature settings for beef (med rare, med, well done), pork, veal, hamburgers, and chicken. A small alarm will beep when meats have reached the programmed temps, so you have audio and visual confirmation. The best part is the price. I've used way more expensive thermometers that aren't nearly as good as this $16 unit. In fact, the next best digital meat thermometer I've used was more than $100. It does has 2 small deficiencies 1) the instructions aren't very good (ie they don't tell you that you have to twist the unit open to access a small switch to change between farenheit and celcius); and, 2) the only cover for the probe is a small black vinyl thing that can be easily lost. A full length probe cover for storage would be nice. Overall use is fairly intuitive, the readings are fast and accurate, and its easy to use and clean up. I've gotten quite a few compliments on my beef and pork since I started using it. Its now my go-to meat cooking tool.

I used this in a commercial kitchen and also at home and love this thermometer. It is small enough to be used with smaller food items, but large enough to read. Setting it and using it are easy and the slide-in holder is very nice to have when you want to have it handy in your pocket!
