My grill is about a little over a year old. The side burner is used for the charcoal chimney and sometimes cooking. First a couple months ago the ignitor coroded and fell off. Then the burner started to sag, and warp. Lastly the metal that holds the burner up into the cooking area totally collapsed and fell into the drip pan. When this happened it was dangerous since the burner departed from the venturi leaving gas coming out of the wrong area. Called Chargriller for a replacement but its only one year warranty and they said that using a chimney on it is hard on the side burner. Funny thing is they advertise the side burner for that use! Anyhow, now deciding if I want to spend the 60 bucks on the replacement that will only last another year. Also, in case you are wondering I do keep my grill covered with a nice vented grill cover when not in use.

I bought this to put on my Char-Griller Smoking Pro. It was an easy installation. I only gave it three stars because while using it to start charcoal in a Weber Chimney, the heat from the chimney got hot enough to warp the metal around the burner. Now only half the gas jets in the burner work. I probably will trash the side burner and buy a new one, but I won't leave a Weber Chimney sit on the next one for very long. Imagine that, a burner that warps when it gets hot. Something seems contradictory in that thought.

Man is this a great addition to my Char-Griller. I mainly use it as a charcoal starter with my chimney and it gets that job done very well. My only complaint is that the paint around the burner area is starting to chip off. Nothing a little prep work and high heat paint won't solve; however, it shouldn't really be necessary within the first 3 months of purchase. That's the only reason for 4 stars, otherwise it works great.

I bought this based on the previous review that referred to it as a tarp because I was having a hard time finding a cover that was going to fit my grill without spending a bundle! It totally doesn't fit mine because it's too small it is not the size of a tarp! Here's the description from the package:

"Grill2Go Grill Cover Fits Grill2Go and other cart style gas grills up to 45" wide and 18" deep. Weather resistant PVC. Drawstring and grommet closure."

Although it didn't work for my grill, I would have been totally happy with this cover had it fit. I hope the package description helps anyone else who'd like to order this!

When I first bought this I'd thought it would fit my fire and ice nice and snug, but it was very loose. I guess this was made for ALL grill. I'd was thinking this would be custom made for the thermos models, I was wrong. Just spend a few dollars on the tarp, you will save a bundle and it will do the same job for you.

I bought these grill stones three weeks ago and tried it on the Weber propane grill. I figured it would be OK but boy was I delighted with the cooking results. I now grill hamburgers, turkey burgers, portabello mushrooms, potatos, grilled onions, and chicken.

First, you have to condition the grill with oil. I used Extra virgin olive oil. You brush it on with a brush that withstand the temp or pour it on and spread it around with a paper towel. I use a grill brush on it to clean it.

I am now hooked on cooking everything on the grill stone.

Buy one, you'll like.

Update: less than a month and it cracked in two. If it keeps cracking into 4 pieces it is going to be pretty useless. Too bad it did not last. Rating revised to a 2.

Smokenator 1000 & Hovergrill Kit Review

If you love slow and low BBQ but only have a Weber kettle, this is the product for you. I can now control the temperature to as low as 185 degrees and have it stay there for up to 6 ½ hours, without having to add any charcoal. The water reservoir does need to be filled approximately every 70 minutes but the BBQ turns out nice and juicy, just like the pros do it.

The top rack is great for those occasions where you want to BBQ for a crowd, although it does get about 10 to 15 degrees hotter than the bottom rack.

All and all I'm extremely pleased with this product and two of my friends where so impressed that they ended up buying one for themselves.

Don, the man who makes and sells this product knows customer service. I ordered this on a Monday evening, and I had it in Fridays' mail. Also, I had one question, which I emailed him on a Sunday night, and he answered the same night.

Now, about the product. This item is well built, and is pretty dummy proof. I did not know it, but the thermometer that I had recently installed from a major home improvement store was flaky. At times it reads 100 degrees higher than actual. Even so, following the directions and setting the vent as per the manual gave me great results. I have a bullet style water smoker already, and the smokenator is giving me better results. The results are also superior to just stacking up coals on the left and the right with a pan seperating them. You can get this without the hovergrill, but I can't imagine why you wouldn't buy a hovergrill. It really gives you a whole lot more space.

I recommend this to anyone. But it would be especially usesful if you can't afford, or have no desire to buy a dedicated smoker. Over all, I recommend this over any bullet smoker.

I know that the title would seem to be contradictory, but hear (or read) me out. How many times in life have you run across a product and thought to yourself, "Self, that's so SIMPLE! I wish I had thought of that!" Well, the Smokenator is that product.

I wont spend a lot of time on the details of the product because there just isn't that much to tell. It's a an oblong piece of metal bent in the middle to a 90-degree angle to form a sort of crescent, the purpose being to hold charcoal against one side of your kettle-shaped grill. There are two holes cut in the top for the purpose of adding charcoal or wood as needed, and a small removable pan to hold water for the purpose of keeping humidity in the grill while extended barbecuing takes place. I'm telling you, folks, it's so simplistic looking that when you pull this thing out of the box, you feel sort of like you've been had.

But darn it if the thing doesn't work just as well as advertised.

I used it for the first time today two racks of baby back ribs. Even though I struggled with the correct heat/vent manipulation, but my ribs came out looking as good or better as the stuff pictured above and they tasted fabulous. I barely had to add charcoal over four hours of barbecuing; I think I put in three more pieces. other than that, I just added water to keep the ribs moist. The Smokenator worked so well that I wish I had more stuff to grill tonight!

So I could sit here and quibble about the price, but instead I think I'm going to go to the kitchen and have a couple more perfectly made ribs. A few more outings like this and I'm not going to remember how much I paid for this thing at all. To the Smokenator people, I say well done and to the victor goes the spoils. To everyone out there who likes real barbecue, I say get this product -it works!

Got the idea from amazing . 'Meathead' says the Smokenator will produce better 'Q' than you can get anywhere uptown...he's right. My wife is not a big fan of smoked meat/barbeque but gave the country ribs and baby-backs high marks.

Works better than described. I like it! Will smoke salmon and tilapia today. Whole chicken came out perfect.Ribs needed a few extra minutes in the oven. A definite Buy without reservations.Sold my Weber Smokey Mtn on Craigslist and replaced it with the 22.5 inch Weber One Touch Gold. Now have best of both worlds, a small efficient smoker and a grill combined in one small package.

This is a very nice cover. The material is water resistant and it has good ventilation so there is less of a problem with moisture under the cover. My only complaint is the elastic cording at the bottom. It makes the cover difficult to put on or remove. It looks like it should have been a draw-string which I would prefer. I am considering modifying mine to make it easier to use.

This is probably the best quality cover I have come across. It is far superior to my Weber Grill Cover for my S670. It has a thick inner lining that I can't imagine ripping and fits perfectly over the smoker

These would have been perfect had they been long enough to reach from front to back.

It seems that the manufacturer is saving pennies (times millions...) by making these about one sixteenth of an inch shorter than OEM. That would be fine except that by the time my Jenn-Air needed new flavorizer bars, the front and back walls of the shell had expanded away from each other due to heat, and these new bars fell not just one sixteenth short, but about three eights of an inch short of bridging the resultant gap.

To avoid the hassle of a return, and because in my opinion, I would encounter precisely the same problem with a t replacement, I had to extend the new bars by riveting on one-inch stainless extensions made from scrap. This allowed the new bars, which otherwise are of excellent quality, to handily bridge the gap.

In closing, two comments: (1) I'm not upset with the vendor cutting the replacement part by approx one sixteenth...in a perfect world, with no wear and tear, they would have worked, BUT... (2) I hope Amazon's buyers can relay to the manufacturer that field tests show the length of their product is inadequate, at least for the JennAir Model 720-0720.

I am not giving this five stars for its advertised original intended use, for that purpose I have no comment. Following the inspiration of Chad Robertson Tartine Bread and Jim Lahey My Bread: The Revolutionary No-Work, No-Knead Methodto use cast iron casseroles and dutch ovens to create a mini-steam oven for bread, I purchased this product with the hope that it would allow me to home bake shapes of bread other than rounds, for which I use a Lodge Logic 5-Quart Double Dutch Oven and Casserole with Skillet Cover. I am very pleased with this product because it has fulfilled my expectations. It is large and it is heavy and it does require that you handle it with care when hot( I use two Ove Gloves Ove' Glove Hot Surface Handler, 1 Glove (Pack of 2)to handle it rather than oven mits. I place the piece in the oven during the pre-heating cycle, then I place the proofed loaf on the now hot lid and cover that with the now hot base base. In otherwords, I use it upside down. After 20 minutes or so, I remove the large "fryer" part and finish the bread uncovered. I highly recommend this product to other home bakers, who should find that it can expand their repertoire of breads.

Purchased this to fit in my roaster oven at our summer place. The round skillets just won't fit and I love roasted meats cooked in cast iron. When I received the cooker, I was skeptical as the surface was very bumpy. I even think that I got one that someone had returned, as there was one portion of the surface that had been sanded down. I decided to season it up anyway as it was just the size I needed and was a good price. Well, the first seasoning yielded a very good result! I went ahead and added 2 more layers of seasoning before I tried it the first time. I put 2 boned chuck roasts in it, and slow roasted them and added the veggies later. Well, I loved it! Super non stick and yielded very good results. To those that are thinking about sanding theirs down, I say try it before doing that. The sanded portion actually did not take the seasoning as well as the bumpy areas. If you don't like it, you can always burn your seasoning off and sand it down later. The lid of the cooker fit very well on my pan and the size is just perfect to sit on the two burners on your cooktop to use as a griddle. I only put one layer of seasoning on mine before I cooked pancakes and it was very nice to cook on. Note: I saw some negative reviews about the coating it's shipped with. You want it coated until you get it, so that it doesn't rust. I found it very easy to scrub off with the scratchy side of the sponge and Dawn dish soap. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the sanded down spot on mine and the fact that it's made in China.

I got this to bake my no-kneed dutch-oven bread in small baguette shapes. It works perfectly. I've also found that it's great for roasts and stews. Once it's seasoned (which is not difficult), it's easy to clean with hot water and a scrub brush.

I have wired a lot of lighting in the past but I am the average do-it-yourselfer -by no means am I an electrician. It took me about two hours to install and then get the sensor to react at the perfect position. Passing cars and people walking past my driveway on the sidewalk will not trigger the sensor, but anyone who steps into my driveway will. The instructions that came with the unit were of similar quality, and there is a phone number that came with the instructions in case I needed additional help. I installed two of these units (one on the front and one on the side of my home). I had a professional install and mount them. If you plan on doing this yourself, remember to turn the power off first.

These units have been up for 3 months and they work fine. I have 100 watt floodlamps installed and they light up the house well. They can be set to be sensitive or not. I live in the rear of my development and don't get much traffic. I have these set to light up at night, so that I can observe on my security system when someone either walks or drives by my house.

I highly recommend this brand and plan on purchasing two more units for the rear of my house.

While the basket is probably the best one out there it certainly could use improvement in its design. The top part should be hinged so it is attached to the stationary one some how -ormake the round basket whole and put a hinged door in it that you can open. The basket we had "a long time ago" actually worked the best. It was a complete round wire basket with a hinged door which was about 4"x 8". Not big enough for a whole chicken but you could open the door and throw all of the pieces inside. You could add those smaller pieces of meat or vegi's you have WHILE cooking simply by opening the door and popping them in while it is on the rotisserie/grill. That was the "perfect" rotisserie basket.

Wish I would have done a little more research and bought the large Auspit instead more expensive, but bigger and easier to fill with more stuff. While this works well for large items, a lot of stuff I was trying to cook (onions, garlic, etc.) fell through the bars. Also, you really can only fill it a little more than half full, while the Auspit allows you to fill from the end. Nice that the ends of this model can be customized to fit your rotisserie rod. Clean up is difficult unless you soak and clean immediately.
