Bakers & Chefs 8 Burner Event Grill Review

I've been eyeing something like this grill for 10+ years on and off but it was $1,200-$1,500 (10-15 yrs ago) and currently sales for around $4,000 and I couldn't justify it.

PLEASE NOTE: The model I had been looking at is a commercial version made for business where the item listed here is a home version.

This one actually has the exact same heat output (20,000 BTUs per each of the 8 burners) but instead of commercial grade aluminum or cast iron body this is enameled powder coated finish.

I just walked into Sam's Club last Friday and this model was just sitting there calling out to me.

I bought it and have been using it for 1 week I will update this review at the end of the summer.

It breaks up in two sections: the bed (8 foot long+ burners the equivalent of 16 round ones) for a total of 165,000 BTU and the legs with wheels.

To take apart (for traveling and or catering) you unlatch (flip) 4 briefcase-like latches that separates the grill itself (burners etc) and the guerny like bottom portion.

just leave it as is (2 halves) or If you need to make it more compact you can fold the legs unto themselves by further undoing 4 wing-nuts.

It "only" has room for 65 burgers or 125 hot dogs at once, or any other mix.

I can create multiple hot/cold zones, and it has 2 folding hinged metal tops turning it into a table that fold open to become two side tables.

Mine came with a waterproof cloth cover that attaches with velcro.

It uses two 20lb propane tanks (one at each end), battery operated igniters and a wind "shield" that folds flat.

As good as the price is I got it for even less.

I LOVE this thing and the food here tastes delicious. Plenty of room

I have a gas grill in Romania that needed a new grate. This one fit exactly after cutting off one row. It is of good quality and of heavy enough steel to last several years. It is a far better grate than the one that came with the grill.

I put this together 3 weeks ago, and had no problems with assembly. I anchored it to my patio, and a strong thunderstorm came through 4 days later. Nothing came loose, and it rode out 65 MPH winds with no problems. You might find a few gazebos at a lower price, but they won't have the quality of this one.

This Gazebo was quite easy to assemble. Its very sturdy, we have it screwed to our deck and it hardly moves at all. The shelves are very handy, grill rain or shine.

Our patio was getting overcrowded so I ordered the Brylane Home 8 X 5 Grill Gazebo to protect our grill and shade us while grilling off the patio. My son and grandson installed the unit along side our patio in a short time without problems due to the enclosed easy to follow instructions. By adding colored 2X2 ft. stepping stones in front of the grill makes it part of the patio. The gazebo is well constructed with a sturdy frame and vented canopy.

I bought the accessory kit to go with my awesome Big Easy SRG. This kit is AWESOME! I thought it was of decent quality, and for all the handy gadgets I got, was well worth the price. I used the Rib hooks right off the bat. The babyback ribs were amazing and held well to the hooks while cooking in the basket. I also used the Shish kabob kit and man was that easy to use. I would suggest cooking the veggies separate from the meats to make sure everything is done each to your liking. Here's the problem I had. The Leg\wing Racks did not fit my basket. I thought accessory kit was for all Big Easy propane cookers. Its not. My Big Easy is the SRG model and its a little bigger than the original I guess, so I can't use the leg racks...which is mainly why I bought the kit. My kids love chicken wings and this seemed like a great item for us. I am returning it. I wanted to exchange, but Amazon does not carry a kit for the SRG. I saw one on Char-broil, so'll I will get that one. I hate it too, because I only shop at Amazon ;-) Amazon customer service is the best! Great buy for the original Big Easy!

If you have the Big Easy, you need to get this kit. It's a bargain compared to the prices on Char-Broil's website or if you had to buy each separately. I've used the rib hooks several times (very easy to attach--just make sure you have the meaty side of the ribs facing the side of the Big Easy so they brown nicely), but I haven't yet tried the kebab accessory. However, if you've ever made shish kebabs on a regular grill you know that veggies and meats rotate on the skewers when you turn them--making them a lot of hassle to cook. It looks like that problem is solved when you use this kebab holder. Just put the thing in when all is assembled and look for the meat's doneness, then take everything out without having to turn each skewer. You also get 2 holders for lots of chicken drumsticks that attach securely to the insert that comes with the Big Easy. They make it easy for grilling wings and drumsticks. I like to make country style ribs (no bones), and the 6 hooks in this kit let you grill plenty of them at once. Instructions are minimal, but descriptive enough. The instructions for the kebab maker consist of 4 photos. The one accessory that is not included and which I bought separately is the hanging basket which adds a second tier to the Big Easy. I've used it for roasting veggies while cooking my turkey, and I've used it for small roasts. It can be used to roast a second chicken. I enjoy using the Big Easy and all these accessories.

I just received this product in the mail. Fast delivery and good condition as usual. My reason for the low rating is because this product did NOT come with the items advertised in the pictures. One item in particular, the "Char-Broil Big Easy Bunk Bed BIasket", shows up in 2 pictures. This is false advertising and seemingly done on purpose to deceive buyers. I would suggest that the seller remove the images of products that are not included in the package. There are 22 pieces in the set, just not the 22 pieces I would have liked.

That being said, I decided to keep the items that came in, because for the price paid, it will be cheaper than buying them individually.

I have cooked veggies, turkey breasts and whole chickens and they all have come out great.

The Big Easy produces crispy skin and moist meat on the poultry.

It cooks some things better than my gas grill so it compliments it perfectly.

The accessory kit makes it easy to place different shaped foods in at the optimal cooking height and they can be utilized for different needs (the kabob holder works as a brace to hold a turkey breast upright).

The heat plates in my current grill rusted and broke in half... these are a perfect replacement for the cost. Everything I found at the store or online was at least double in price. They may be a thinner material but if they last another year or two I am perfectly content...

The Porcelain Finish quailty is very poor. On three of the four Heat Plates.At the end of each plate were the holes are located the finish is missing.

As others have noted, you have to take apart a few pieces of the grill to get to this part; which makes it a good time to replace other parts of your grill that need attention. That being said, this is such an item of convenience (particularly if you grill year round) that it is well worth the time and effort to install. My Weber (a Silver B) is a good 10 years old now and still runs like a champ. Outside of new flavorizer bars every so often and a new set of grates a couple of years ago, I think this might be my first real "repair" to the grill.

I bought the Weber replacement igniter after trying a generic one from a local store. I never could get the generic to work. Save yourself the headache and buy the correct one first, follow the installation directions exactly. This one made my grill work like new again.

Weber makes their grills to last, and part of that is offering replacement parts at reasonable prices. These igniters usually last around 5 years of heavy use before part of it fails (usually the stainless steel igniter box), though you can sometimes revive a dead igniter by cleaning the gunk out of it.

Anyway, this igniter takes around five minutes to install. Make sure you poke the small metal tab through the small bottom hole rather than trying to squeeze it into the main igniter hole.

Since we were going with a built-in i want something that would last and have a good warranty. So after looking around at many stores and online. I bought this grill about 1.5 years ago and have had it installed about one year. It is a very hight quality unit I chose it over others based on quality and price. We cook on it about three to four times a week in our out door kitchen. One thing I wish was different are the knobs they are plastic with a fake stainless coating on them. So you cant scrub them too much with out messing them up. But all the other grills i looked had the same type of knobs on them. As far as clean up goes it is a little more difficult with a built-in(in my setup anyway) especially wash down in the drip tray...so to make it a little easier i put oil dry in my drip pan.

With the built quality, materials, accessories, and grill performance: heating, vaporizers, gas flow controls, infrared burners and flare-ups(the oil dry help this as well) it is easily the best grill i have ever owned and would buy again if i had to replace..but know i wont ever have to do to the quality of this unit.And the lifetime warranty.

Oh one more thing if you plan on buying, these are handmade to order in Canada so expect some lead time.

I should start by saying that I returned the grill before using it, and I cannot provide any information about how well it works. I returned the grill because I was unaware of a design issue I felt was a deal breaker, the inferred burner.

I did a great deal of research before I decided to purchase this grill. My main concern was that I wanted a built-in medium to large grill with high BTU's. The unit had to be made with good quality stainless steel and have a sound warrantee backing it as well. The Napoleon 605 seemed like a great buy for the price. I was however, concerned about the ugly black ceramic material on the sides. I contacted the company about the material just to ensure it was rust resistant and wouldn't be easily damaged, and was told it was. In person its still ugly, but the material doesn't look so out of place that I wouldn't want to have it built into my island.

During my research, the inferred burner (which I later found took up 1/3 of the cooking space) seemed to be a nice additional feature. I saw that the grill used it as a hybrid method of cooking, allowing the cook to make use of both the traditional burners and the inferred burner. What I didn't know and I realized after purchasing, is that it's not practical to cook on unless you're working with dense meat such as steak. Prior to purchasing I envisioned using the entire grill at the same time when cooking, but the use of the inferred portion really is best for searing meat and has to be cooked differently then the other sections of the grill. If your going to use the entire grill when cooking you have to be aware of the sear section will cook them much much faster then the rest of the grill, and based on my research the lid of the grill should be left up when cooking with inferred burners. Not entirely a problem, but if you want to cook many things at once using the regular burners and inferred burner you may run into a bit of an issue with regulating the temp of the everything at once. This isn't a true criticism of the grill and some may purchase this grill for the sole purpose of the sear burner. But with it taking up 1/3 of the cooking space, I felt it didn't meet my needs.

As far as the quality of the materials, it felt solid and durable. The cooking grates were nice and heavy and their patterned design added a nice touch. The knobs felt a little cheap and were not made of the same material as the rest of the grill, but they weren't noticeably different looking. Again, not having used the grill I cant add much about how well it performs, but buyers should be aware that the main cooking area will be reduced due to the space the sear burner takes up.

I saw that a number of reviews had commented that the Grill arrived damaged via UPS. I took a chance and ordered a refurbished grill by DealTime for $949 including shipping ($188. This was for a rental house in Florida. The previous grill Du-cane built in was no longer made and no replacement grill was available. So this was the closest model. My management company installed it. It was 4 inches wider than the previous one but they were able to get it in place. Looks great from the photo's and it works wonderfully. I will give an updated report when I use it personally.

The grill does not look refurbished at all. I think they bought some of the damaged ones from Amazon and then got replacment parts to upgrade them. make sure to cal Napoleon before you buy to make sure the packaging will survive UPS shipment.

I priced these at local hardware stores but they wanted way too much for something that wouldn't fit as well as these. They arrived and fit perfectly and a very reasonable price. Will definitely consider them again in the future if we need to replace them.

Skewers work ok, they take some getting use to though. Due to the flat design,

smaller items that would fit on a round bamboo skewer will split apart on this skewer.

Use big pieces of food and you'll be happy, they look great on the plate!

These look really cool, except they are very problematic to actually use. Because of their curved nature you can't really put any direct pressure on them to puncture the kabob items. Which gets trickier if you've marinated your veggies or meat and they are a little slippery to get on. You inevitably stab yourself trying to do it.

Also, because they are curved, keeping the handle off the grill is pretty difficult, so you need to manipulate them with tongs on the grill. After a year of attempted use, I gave up and got rid of them and get these instead: Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Signature Stainless Steel Grilling Kabob Skewers, Set of 6 (3/8-inch Wide). Much more functional, much easier to deal with.

After going through an entire lp tank in a shorter than usual time-frame, I noticed the old regulator was releasing gas throug its safety release opening when the new tank was on. Hmmm... Other online reviews on failing regulators for Brinkmann were all happenning at about the same time, so my guess is, this is just about the life-span of the part. I guess the regulator membrane became brittle and tore after so many winters on the outside. Anyhow, looked online on Brinkmann's site for the part alone, but as hoses are factory sealed on, and the regulator itself is not seviceable, had to go with an entire assembly. Checked Amazon and naturally they had it. Purchased this one, it arrived promptly, I installed it and it's working great. The only difference from the OME part is that this one is not a "Y" hose, but rather the 2 hoses come straight out of the regulator. No problems there as hoses reach fine. Truth be told, I have never used the side stove-like burner, so if you are like me, getting just one hose would probably have work just as well. Otherwise, this one is exactly what you are looking for.

Does the job, but the two hoses makes it more cumbersome to attach. My old one had the pan burner hose teed off from the grill burner hose and that is easier to handle, especially when you are moving the tank around.

It took me a long time to realize I needed a new hose, I eliminated all the other obvious causes of slow gas feed until it could only be the regulator or hose. Still, I now have nice clean burners and BBQ.

This Weber battery igniter kit is a direct replacement for our Weber grille. It does however have a new improved mounting system. Removed the old and installed the new in les than 5 minutes. We were grilling immediately after. Great price for a Weber part I could not find in Home Depot, Lowe's or Orchards hardware.
