This product fits perfectly over my `Indoor/Outdoor Electric Grill'. And keeping it protected from the elements is my primary concern. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm a Texan (Texaswomyn, right?) so I love smoked meat. Brisket, chicken, ribs, pork chops, beef roast, etc. We've got smokers: two big 'ole charcoal smokers, a big 'ole propane/electric smoker, and I've even got one of them Cameron stove top smokers, (I'm gonna drop the bad grammar now) so I was quite curious about this smoker accessory. First off, it's small. I mean, Rhode Island small. It's about 6 inches long, 3 inches wide and maybe 1.5 inches tall, so the wood you use to smoke with has to be chipped up very small and it doesn't hold a lot; I didn't weigh or measure what it holds but it's probably not over a cup of chips. One big problem is that small quantity of wood doesn't last long enough to provide a good "smoke" flavor and create that highly desired smoke ring on meat.

If your only desire is for a hint of smoke to mask the charcoal (and heaven forbid charcoal lighter fluid) taste from your grilled steak or chicken breast, then this little box will do that, to a small degree. Be sure you soak the wood first so it lasts a little longer and smokes a little more.

And hey, Rhode Island no offense, OK ya'll?

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I finally got a chance to use this, and well, this is one of those products that you don't really need. For the amount of smoke flavor that it puts out, soaked wood chips wrapped in a piece of aluminum foil will work just as well. It's a cute little box that holds a small amount of wood chips and delivers an equally small amount of smoke. If you just like to have gadgets and cool looking tools then this will fit the bill. Otherwise, save your money and invest in a roll of heavy duty aluminum foil to fashion your own smoker box and call it a day.

By the way, the lid is sort of hard to get off, and I broke a nail in the process.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I already have a bigger box-style smoker already. I also have the Cameron stove top smoker. This "Tom Douglas by Pinzon Metal Grill Smoker Box" is kind of small, about you palm size.

However, it's a really well constructed little box...a little bit on the elegant side. Specifically, there is no sharp edge or sharp corner that could be scratch your skin. The holes on the top and bottom are on the smaller size too.

Due to the small size, it won't hold big amount of wood chips. Be expecting to refill wood chips for long cooking.

The cover is a little tight and hard to open and close. I believe the intent is to make sure the cover does not open if you throw it into the charcol. For my big smoker box, I have to carefully lay it down in the grill to keep the cover close.

While trying to refill wood chips during cooking, I put the box in water to cool it down first and then open it safely. This extra step does not add too much hassle, as the bucket for soaking wood chips is usually nearby.

I wouldn't recommend to put smoker box (any smoker box) right on top of the charcoal, as the wood chips will burn out too fast and don't have sufficient time to smoke the food and you will be busy in refilling wood chips.

All in all, a well made nice little smoker box.

I used it on top of the grates, with the lid closed. I think, though, that using some aluminum foil would do just as good of a job, and you could just throw it out after use.

These steel heat plates appear to be the same as what originally came with our grill in both appearance and thickness. After a summer grilling season, the plates show use but little wear and only a bit of rust at the edges. Would definitely order again.

The replacement burners fit perfectly. The Charmglow grill was only 3 years old, and getting the old parts out was a challange. Needed to cut the old tubes in half (most just rusted apart) to gain access to the 2 retaining screws. Also had to drill out several of the retaining screws because the heads broke off...rusted as well! A bit of advice....remove the screws from the air mixture doors from the old tubes, they fit the burner retaining holes and will replace the ones you need to drill out...as long as that doesn't excede the number of replacement screws :)

Also, look around the site as they have package deals, I bought 5 at individual prices but could have saved $15 if I saw the 5 element package.

All in all a great deal (lowest prices I could find) to bring you grill back to life, great price, fast shipping and will be enjoying this grill for many years to come. Thanks Amazon for performing to your expert level time and time again.

These look cute online but they are very wide and difficult to skewer into things. The ends are dull and they look pretty cheap with metal remainders on them around most of the seams. All of that wouldn't be so bad if they did not rust the first time I washed them (I didn't even let them soak or anything strange, soap and water and drip dried in my dry rack). Do not get these, they are cheap and difficult to use. If you saw them in person, you would walk away, even at Amazons price.

Review of Stok SIS7010 Grills Mega Griddle for Grilling

I just received this yesterday, so these are initial impressions and information I wish I'd had when I ordered.

Description:

Heavy--the item description says 22 pounds, and that doesn't seem far off. It is substantial in weight and thickness.

The griddle diameter is 19 inches, minus the minimal ridge running around the rim. About 283 square inches of griddle space--big enough to fry up some serious pancakes, eggs, and bacon.

The griddle just sits on the included wire rack. There are no real guides to hold it in place on the rack once you have it on the grill. The handles on the rack do center the griddle initially, and will keep it from sliding off from side to side, but the handles drop down and don't come into play once everything is in place.

The surface is quite rough. I'm used to the roughness of new Lodge cast iron pans, and wouldn't have a complaint if that's what this had. Instead, it has areas on the grill surface that feel almost sharp against your fingers. I intend to sand it down and re-season the griddle.

Overall, it seems to be well-designed. The wire rack seems sturdy, and the griddle has the mass you want when you buy cast iron. For the price, I would have expected a smoother finish and possibly some guides to hold the grill from shifting when you have to get a little rough with the spatula.

I would buy it again, but only because I want a large griddle and this is the only one I could find.

Update: Lessons learned in my first use of the Stok Mega Griddle:

1. Patience: it's going to take awhile to heat up. Don't get in a rush to add more charcoal, or you may find yourself with a 700-degree griddle.

2. Don't try to add more charcoal: As noted, there is no guide to hold the griddle from sliding around on the wire rack. Which means that if you try to lift one side of the wire rack to add more charcoal, you're likely to find yourself wrestling with a 20-lb, 300-degree slab of cast iron. Not at all fun, although it might make for good video.

3. Once it gets fully heated, or (as happened in my case) overheated, don't try to mess with the charcoal. As noted in item 2, you're likely to find yourself wrestling with a 20-lb slab of cast iron, but it is now registering 700 degrees.

I really want to love this griddle, and I might learn to love it after I master temperature management. But for now, I'm more frustrated by the inability to safely do change ANYTHING once the griddle is in place.

Update: I contacted Stok customer service to make them aware of the potential safety problems with this griddle . . . specifically, the fact that the griddle is extremely unstable if you try to move it in any way after the grill is lit. The simple inclusion of something built into the wire rack to stabilize the griddle would go a long way to making it both safer and more convenient.

Stok's response was to reiterate the instruction to light the charcoal and wait until the flame dies down before placing griddle on the grill (this is standard operating procedure).

They also recommended the use of oven mitts--an obvious step, but hardly an ideal solution for a hot, greasy griddle.

I stand by my criticism of this griddle, and am disappointed with the response from Stok customer service.

Weber 6453 Style Rib Rack Reviews

I love ribs, but I hate making them. That is... until I bought this rib rack. It's as close to "set it and forget it" as you can get, if you have a gas grill.

Put the ribs on the rack, get your grill around 300 degrees with indirect heat, and come back in two hours. That's pretty much it, without getting in to different rubs / sauces / smoke.

The design of this rack keeps the heat evenly distributed around your ribs, without grill marks (except for the tips, which may touch the grill). The wide sides make it fairly easy to carry from the grill to your table, but keep in mind, the rack will be VERY HOT. You'll want a couple Weber Barbecue Mitts, and a clear path to your table (and something that can withstand the heat from the rack).

There are two reasons this doesn't get five stars:

1) The space between the slots is fairly limited, and ribs curl a little when they're cooked. Getting cooked baby back ribs out of this is tricky, if you want to keep your rub and sauce intact.

2) You're paying a pretty huge premium for the Weber name and the "Weber Style" design. This would make a very nice gift for someone, with the design, branding, and full-color box it comes in. But from a practical standpoint, it isn't hugely different from the Weber 6406 Rib Rack, which costs less than half as much.

If you're a fan of the Weber brand or the Style designs, this is pretty nice. But if you're just looking for something functional, the side handles are the only thing you gain over the less expensive model from Weber.

This rib rack looks great, it is very sturdy, and although it has room for 4 racks, I was able to fit a fifth between the last slot and the handle. The ribs turned out wonderful. I used no nonstick spray, and I removed the ribs from the rack with no problems whatsoever. Cleanup was great. I removed any bits of food and smoke residue easily, and the rack still looks brand new after the first use. I recommend this rack for the quality, price, and easy cleanup. Highly recommended.

Just got the rack today.

Pros: Good quality, fits weber WSM 18.5" smoker, works with more than just ribs

Cons: Baby back ribs only (spare ribs are too thick even cut in half), spacing isn't far enough apart to allow for good smoke contact (ribs touch each other in some points), needs a design to allow for a pivot for each retaining arm that rolls into place and locks rib in upright position spacing issue solved, gap for rib wash/mop and smoke contact solved, thick ribs stuck in rack solved, etc.

Overall: I will use this for 2 racks at a time or chicken quarters due to give a good smoke. More than 2 racks on WSM 18.5 will be rolled again since this won't cut it.

I had just bought my Weber One-Touch Silver and I needed some tools to go with my new grill. Sure, I already had a cheap grill before the Weber, and some tools (very cheap and crappy) but what better to go with my new Weber grill then Weber tools? I decided on this set. This three-piece set comes with the usual... A spatula, a two-prong fork and some tongs. All of them are attractive and have a rubber material on the handles to keep hands nice and cool. The price is just about right at $30 but I was lucky to find a new set for $20. The spatula and fork are nice and hefty, they feel quite durable. The tongs on the other hand feel slightly cheaper and a little bit on the thin side. By no means are the tongs poor quality, they just don't feel quite as tough as the other tools. On the upside, the tongs are spring loaded and have a cool locking mechanism. Overall I recommend these tools to anyone in need of them!

Quite simply, it's well made, looks well made, and performs like it looks. The tongs are heavy duty enough to pick up a big rack of ribs or a half a dozen stacked steaks without any problem. The spatula and the fork are built equally the same.

Overall, if you can handle spending Amazon's $30.00 price tag, then you'll be happy. There are cheaper sets out there, but if you're fairly hard on grill tools as I am, then cheap sets cost more in the long run as you have to buy a new set every few months.

Regardless, it's a good set that will probably last longer than the grill. And as an added incentive, they're dishwasher safe, which is a big plus for many of us.

Made of sturdy stainless steel, they are nicely designed as well when coupled with black grips. All the tools are plenty long, dishwasher safe, and feature rings for hanging for storage. The tongs are especially nice, being of the locking variety. While they might be a bit pricier than other sets, even from Weber, they are well worth the investment.

These feel nice. Large, heavy, strong. They just feel high quality.

But the lock on the tongs gets annoying. It locks anytime you close the tongs while holding them (near) vertically, which leads to a lot of accidental locks.

I only use the spatula now. The fork's nice, I just never seem to need it.

Love the heavy-duty feeling of this cover. Red and tan make me feel like it is a 49ers (who I love) cover, without the logo! I have noticed in regular 20-30 mph winds the velcro straps keep coming undone, but I live in an abnormal area in MT that has crazy wind at times, so that is to be understood. The good news is it is long enough and heavy enough that the wind has yet to get up under and pull the thing off the grill, so that is promising.

What sucks is that is has substantially faded already. The red is now borderline light maroon/dark pink already and it has a definitive line of color difference on top vs the sides that don't get pummeled by UV as much. Again, this is to be understood out in my world as we're 4800k+ above sea level and UV is intense here. I would have thought though that it would be still looking good after only a few short months. My guess is by Spring (after our intense winters) it will be all but shot visually. I can deal with that though as long as it stays intact physically. I will update if need be with more info on durability. So far, so good though. Hope it helps.

When grilling during the winter it gets dark early and this is the best solution i have found yet

I tried the lamp that connects to the grill handel and the worked for a short time but being exposed to the elements all the time really shortened its life and it got very dirty quickly. Using the magnetic base makes using it a easy and i can keep it indoors. Also it is very eazy to pick up and shine the light in any position needed. The light is very bright and the overall quality is top shelf.

I love to grill year round. But during the winter months, when it dark early, there is NEVER enough light on the patio to make it easy. This flashlight is fabulous. It really illuminates the grill surface well, and the magnet is strong enough to hold it firmly in place. I highly recommend it.
