We received this nice looking grill as a wedding gift. It looks very nice and seems very sturdy and well-built, but it only gets up to about 450 degrees Fahrenheit with all four burners on HIGH. For $900 I think it should be able to get a lot hotter than that. I contacted the service department and they told me that this grill is designed this way (but they didn't say why) and offered to sell me a new valve ($50+shipping) that would allow it to get hotter.

Every chef friend I've talked to is very puzzled by this. There are many, many $200 and less grills out there that will get a lot hotter. We can't send it back, so I guess we have to spring for the valve. Seems like kind of a racket.

I'm glad I spent a couple extra dollars for this bracket. I have the 22" grill and at first I thought attaching the lid to the Magic Bracket would make the whole grill topple. The top is so large that I wouldn't know where to lay it down if not for this item. Installation is tricky. It took me a couple minutes to figure it out. Impressive for a northerner who recently pushed his propane grill off a cliff to opt for lump hard wood. I called the number on the directions and immediately spoke to a person who was willing to answer any questions I had. They should be very proud to manufacture all their quality products.

It gives a reading with colors, but it can be confusing, as when the meat is rare it does read red, which is ok, but when it is med, it seems all the colors appear, not sure if that is ok with me. I smoke many types of meat and use my smoker regularly. I need to have an accurate reading or the meat will not cook properly and turn out in an acceptable way. This thermometer is just the ticket. I've worked in restaurants for a major portion of my professional career and being able to calibrate your thermometers is crucial. I will advise everyone out there to NOT BUY A THERMOMETER THAT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. You'll just be throwing your money away in the long run.

This has an easy to read, large gauge, and is color coded for even easier readings from a distance. Installation is easy and anyone should be able to do it. Many don't know how to calibrate a thermometer. Either boil some water and see if the gauge reads 212 degrees, or fill a glass or bowl with ice, add water to fill it, and then take a reading. It should read just barely above 32 degrees. Adjust and you're done.

The thermometer installed on my smoker was a piece of garbage, and even though I love the smoker, that part was cheap, as is on many outdoor grills and smokers. Save your money in the long run and get one of River Country's ADUSTABLE thermometers. You'll love it!

I was looking at some the remote thermometers, but it seemed like everyone was complaining how well they don't work. I needed something that would work year after year. The large face was the big seller for me as with the color coded sections for easy reading. It sure helps to know the real inside temperature instead of looking how my coals and wood are burning. I use it on my converted frig for smoking. The hardest part of installing it was using my dull drill bit to get hole going. This should help me to keep the temp down when I next attempt cold smoking some antelope ham.

I've tested it, and the thermometer is definitely accurate. The supplied mounting hardware is plenty sturdy, but one little caveatthe instructions say to drill a 3/8" hole, but it's closer to a 7/16" in order to fit the threads. I'm glad I had a step drill along with my usual bits, but once I got the size right it threaded right in. Overall, definitely recommend this to someone looking for a better thermometer for their smoker.

It's a good idea, but we can't get the logo to actually show up on the meat. We have read the reviews and watched youtube videos. It may be user error, but either way, it still won't work. It is a good conversation piece and it's fun to watch the different guys try and make it work.

EDIT: You need to get the iron REALLY hot. My grill was low on gas so it couldn't get it hot enough. Place it on the grill first and press it on top of the meat just before you take it off.

Seems like a good product, but if you are mounting this through thinner gauge grill covers (like mine), keep in mind that the bolt and washer provided will not tighten flush to the back of the thermometer. It looks like there is about 1/4" space between the bolt and back of the thermometer when it is fully tightened down. If the grill cover is thinner than 1/4", like my stainless grill, I ended up using two washers as spacers. If you are using this on a thicker aluminum cover grill, it would probably work without requiring spacer washers.

Pros Plenty of space. Easy to move racks around. Easy to add charcoal. Can move charcoal tray up for regular grilling. Lots of air control adjustments. I highly recommend! I smoked a turkey, when it was close to being done I removed the water pan and moved the charcoal up to crisp the skin, INCREDIBLE!

Cons Water and charcoal pans are a little small. Water pan kind of tricky to load. I recommend putting the pan in the rack then filling from a pot or something after its in place. Some assembly required, but not too bad.

I have been smoking for years, The Landmann smoker is beautiful, but not practial. The wood box and water box were too small. In order to smoke 40 lbs on meat would require constant attition. You would have to stay up all night and add wood and water. My old smoker I add wood and water go to bed and the next morning all my meat is perfect. Also, you can"t light the charcole in the fire box because you would melt the handle on the water box. Beautiful smoker , I wish it would work.

I am extremely satisfied with this grill. It is by far the best one I could find for the money. I considered buying it locally, but found out that I could buy it for $200 dollars less from Amazon.com. It would've been worth the extra $200, but why pay more than you have to.

I considered purchasing the E-320, but decided that the side burner was a feature that would probably never be used. Most people I talk to that have bought grills with side burners never actually use them. The E-310 is wonderful. It cooks evenly, has great control over temperatures, and is built to last. I can't imagine needing a new one for a very long time.

If I had to pick the bad part of this grill, I would be pretty hard pressed to come up with something. The only thing I can think of is that the burners run from left to right along the length of the grill instead of from front to back. This isn't a problem just different than what I'm used to. So as a result, you have to get used to having your indirect heat zones in a different place than you may be used to.

Shortly after I got it, we had a pool party where we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for 20 people. I was able to cook all the meat for the crowd at the same time.

I would highly recommend this grill.

So far, this is the best BBQ I have used. In all fairness, most all BBQs I've had were pretty good from the start but in the past, they only seem to last about 2 years since the burners rust out (living near the coast). The longevity of the burners remains to be seen but the quality of the BBQ is pretty good and the strength of the heat and how evenly it is spread is better than my previous experience.

It was pretty easy to assembly (took about 2 hours) and everything was in the package. I would highly recommend getting the Weber cover from the start as well as other Weber accessories (the grill brush is the best I have ever seen and the reason I went with Weber in the first place).

It was shipped through Eagle and though I read some bad stories of late deliveries, mine was ready to be received exactly on the estimated date.

You will enjoy this medium level BBQ.

I'd give this grill five stars if it weren't for the following design flaw: the ignition switch parts are made of cheap, flimsy plastic. So flimsy that the third time we used it the ignition completely fell apart. (The grill was assembled by Barbeques Galore, so I assume they knew what they were doing.)

It was easy enough to re-assemble the ignition, but this seems like one of those parts that I will be replacing in a couple of years. If this were a cheap grill, I would not mind so much. But it's not a cheap grill, and at this price one expects quality parts.

Kind of frustrating, because Weber could have spent an extra dollar to use better materials and make a switch that would not be so flimsy...

I have a full-sized Coleman grill that is no longer made. When my original cast-iron burners finally rusted out, I thought I'd have to chuck the whole thing, which was a shame because the frame was really well constructed and even after 8 years is still holding up well, with no rust at all. I found these as a replacement item and they work really well. The flame is pretty even and my grill heats better than it has in years. There's only one small issue, the air vent at the front doesn't have a screen to keep out dirt and critters as my original burners did, so I'll likely have to clean that out periodically.

I have used this box twice, and have had some learning issues with it.

First: it is a quality product. Heavy gauge stainless steel; I'm guessing it will last a long time. It fits in my BBQ without any problem.

Second: it has a design issue. The lid is a separate piece which fits loosely on the box. This is fine until you need to put some more wood chips into the box. Since the box will be very hot, you will be using some sort of tool to manipulate the box lid, and you suddenly have your hands full, including a dangerously hot piece of metal in your tongs (or vise-grip or plier), so you need to set that somewhere. Then you need to either empty the ashes (which will proabably include some glowing coals) so you can refill the box with more wet chips. Then you have to wrestle the hot lid back onto the hot box and then return the unit to the barbecue. It can be done, but it does demand you have a little coordination and that you pay attention to what you are doing (because of the heat involved).

Third: the first time I used it, the wet chips in the box went from light smoke to fully aflame in minutes. I had put the box on the ceramic briquettes just above the burners on my propane BBQ. It took several minutes for the soaked chunks in the box to start smoking, at which point I put my chicken into the BBQ. After several minutes I checked because I didn't see any more smoke. The box contents were fully engulfed in flames.

I reloaded the box and set it on the cooking grill (several more inches above the fire). This is the method I used the second time I used it, too. This seemed to work better so far as getting smoke was concerned. It takes awhile for the chunks to heat up and start smoking, but they didn't burst into flame.

So...well made product with some design issues (does the box need a hinge on the lid?), and you will need to experiment with it to determine the best way to get smoke. I believe the product will last a long time and I will continue to use it.

I purchased this for a gas grill to add a little smoke flavor to burgers/steaks/fish when I don't feel like pulling out the charcoal smoker. The box does exactly what I wanted it to do and is sturdy enough that I don't worry about it melting or becoming warped from the heat. The holes in the bottom of the smoke box are perfect for draining excess water from wood chips that have been soaked to speed up the smoking process (you don't have to wait for the water to be boiled off before the smoking starts). The only thing I would have liked to see on this smoke box is a latch system to keep the lid on. I placed the box on a burner and it fell over and the lid popped off and dumped the wood chips all over the inside of my gas grill and since the burners were already going it was too hot for me to remedy. With a latching system that wouldn't have happened and I would still have had a pretty good smoke going.

Overall, I recommend this to anyone looking for a smoke box. I've used mine 1-3 times a week for the last 4 months and it's held up really well.

We bought our first smoker from Charbroil. It cracked in two the second time we used it. When I called the manufacturer, they said we used it improperly by placing it on the burner. They said it had to be placed on the rack. Where were you supposed to cook your food? I ordered this for my husband shortly after we had the awful experience with Charbroil. You can place this smoker directly on your burner, no problem. It works like a charm. Plus it was $10 cheaper than the one that cracked. My husband loves it and uses it every time he grills.
