I use these in the ugly drum smokers I build. I haven't tested their accuracy with additional thermometers, either analog or digital. But from the cook times and results on all meats, I suspect it is very close. Close enough for smoking something for 8 hours thats for sure.

Seems like a good product, but if you are mounting this through thinner gauge grill covers (like mine), keep in mind that the bolt and washer provided will not tighten flush to the back of the thermometer. It looks like there is about 1/4" space between the bolt and back of the thermometer when it is fully tightened down. If the grill cover is thinner than 1/4", like my stainless grill, I ended up using two washers as spacers. If you are using this on a thicker aluminum cover grill, it would probably work without requiring spacer washers.
