I purchased this cover in April of last year. Just last week, 14 months after purchase, and having spent one winter outdoors in the elements, this cover rips like it is made of paper. Poor quality design. Poor workmanship. I am sorry that amazon offers this product on their site. For this kind of money I would have expected something rugged and durable that would last for 5-10 years minimum. I recommend buying a simple proven tarp and using a bungee cord. You might have to replace the bungee cord every couple of years, but that is much better than having to buy a whole new cover to replace this piece of junk.

We hesitated about spending this much for a grill cover, given the many we have gone through, but since purchasing this one, we haven't needed another since (and we leave it out during the harsh Midwest winters). We have owned this product for about 2 years now and it's still in the same high quality condition as the day we purchased it. We highly recommend this product. Clearly the manufacturer believes their products should be of high quality.

Stable and safe, it holds the chicken proudly upright. That alone is a huge virtue. And, better yet, it actually produces a very excellent result for very little effort. It is easy to clean, too.

The idea is that you add beer to the container below the spikey thing, and also to the pan area. Fruit juice or any likeable liquid also works very well. So, you can finish off the beer and find something in the fridge that will work just as well. I also add garlic and some rosemary because we have a big bush of it outside the door.

You just slide the chicken on and put the little plug in the other end to trap the steam. Steam must be the secret because otherwise it is just heat like in any oven.

My wife makes a rub with some flour, cornmeal, red pepper, salt, garlic powder and onion powder in variable ratios. Rub some oil on the chicken and then the rub. It comes out very crispy on the outside and amazingly tender on the inside.

I use those Weber coal retainers that keep the coals to the sides of the kettle so there is a place in the middle for the chicken roaster. Keep the coals clear to the sides. If you use a chimney charcoal starter, filling it up will give you more than enough coals. The spikey thing rotates easily, so just give it a 1/4 turn every 15 minutes and you will find it is done in an hour at most.

Using it in an oven would work well also. You wouldn't have to rotate it. I would suggest a high enough heat to make the dry rub work.

This is not a cheap item, but is very much worth it because of the results, no nearly good enough alternative and it is so well made that it should pretty much last forever. It will be on Antique's Roadshow some day, so don't lose the plug.

Update 8/17/10: Just wanted to add that I've been using this roaster heavily since I bought it back in 2006 (took me a while to write the review, lol) and it's still in marvelous condition. So add durable to its list of attributes.

Original Review:

This is easily the best 'beer can' chicken roaster on the market, but if you're not using it during the off months in the oven, you're missing out!

The roaster is very stable, the liquid well is a little small, but I've had good luck with it. I fill the reservoir about halfway when I use beer because it will foam up when the spices are added. Be sure to use the plug provided in the neck opening, it helps to keep the bird moist. I have used a 6 pound bird with this roaster and it wasn't the least bit wobbly. I use it almost exclusively in the oven, even though it works very well on the grill. The bird will not stick to this roaster, not even a little, which is great when you're trying to lift a hot bird. It slides right off.

I use beer, wine or sometimes just broth in the holder, either my own rub mix or when I'm really feeling lazy, Tony's Cajun Seasoning.

Preheat the oven to 375* and roast for about an hour for a medium bird. The chicken comes out really moist and the skin is crispy and luscious. I rotate it 90* about halfway through the cooking time to achieve even browning.

This is my go-to method for cooking chicken. Friends are amazed at how wonderful and moist a chicken can be. We almost fight over the skin.

Tip: Dry the chicken with paper toweling before seasoning, that will help the skin crisp up. If you have the time, leave the seasoned bird in the fridge, uncovered, for a few hours to let it dry out more. Drier=Crispier skin.

This is my second purchase of this item--as a gift for my son. Beer can chicken seems too unsanitary to me--do you really want a beer can with all that paint in your chicken? This way you can also use wine and what ever spices or herbs you like, and you are able to collect the gravy from the chicken instead of having it spill all over your grill. Go to the Weber site for slightly different cooking instructions from those included with the product.

Honest reviews on Weber 6408 Style Poultry Roaster

This product is excellent. It makes the best roast chicken I have ever had. I have cooked several chickens in the oven using the poultry roaster and they come out extremely moist and tender. The recipe in the manual for barbequed beer chicken is outstanding!!! I am thinking about buying several more. Clean up is a breeze. Way to go Weber!! Excellent product.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Weber 6408 Style Poultry Roaster

I read a recipe in Cook's Illustrated about Beer Can Chicken. I'd never heard of it before. Chicken cooked on the BBQ sitting upright on a beer can came out moist and tender. The only problem was getting the darn thing off the beer can. The heat would sear the fat to the can, which was full of boiling hot beer. You can't lie it down; you can't grip the beer can; it's simply a mess.

This Roaster does the same thing, using a teflon rack that catches juices if you want to make gravy. It's easy to transport without spilling all over the patio and kitchen floor, and the chicken comes off the roaster easily. I highly recommend it!

I bought the Landmann 3405GLA gas smoker, it came very fast and was in good condition except for 2 very minor scratches that I did not even mention to the seller. It lets alot of smoke out around the doors so I bought a felt gasket for the big green egg and used it to seal around the door, which worked great. I had to bend 1 of the vent tabs up so I could close it more. Also, the original gas control knob/regulator worked terribly. It was either open full or at minimum, nothing in between. The thermometer was off by 30 degrees(all of the stock thermometers seem to be inaccurate). I sent an email to Landmann, their customer service people were very nice, polite and helpful. After trying a few things they sent me a new thermometer and control knob/regulator. The new one is a different model so I'm wondering if they've had problems and changed vendors. It seems to work better but have not tried to smoke anything with the new regulator yet. I may also try the trick of using a turkey frier control to automatically control the temperature. Also, I put lava rocks in the bottom and a slab of slate in back of the smoker to add some thermal mass for even cooking.

Advice to other buyers would be to go for the single door model, the drawers are not an advantage and let more smoke leak out. I'd give the manufacturer a 4 star rating for the way they treated me, but until I can see if the new parts make it easier to control the tempurature I gave only 3 stars. Will update after trying out the new parts.

Update: The new regulator/control knob works smoothly and has improved the tempature control. I increased the rating to 4 stars, but this is based on the price of $180. The unit does not compare to a $600-800 digital control models but for $180 I would give it 4 stars within this price point.

I am pleased with this smoker for the price. It's easy to use and cooks meat well. The only criticism I have is the small wood pan. It needs to be refilled often and whenever it's filled the temp climbs way up of course so maintaining a constant temp is difficult.

A great product to add to my gas grill cooking collection. Easily warm/ lightly toast the taco shells w/ the taste of grilled food. After grilling, it makes it easy to fill the shells with what ever you have planned or you can warm the food right in the shells...just make sure to add the cold products after grilling, unless you like cooked lettuce. The product is easy to clean and pretty much a non-stick product. The taco rack came in good condition and in the time promise. *You can also use the rack in a full sized oven too.

This telescopes out and two long hinges flip over and lock in place. It weighs next to nothing. It's quite useful, it's no fun to cook on the ground. I never had any issue with this stand not supporting my camp stove. There's no way it will collapse. Just use common sense and it will do what it's designed to do.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I bought this item with a Coleman camping stove, which has turned out to be excellent (the stove). Regardless of whether you extend this stand fully or peg the legs in place IT IS NOT SAFE. The liklihood that your stove will fall through this stand is extremely high. I spent a long time experimenting with it before being forced to return it and buy a table. On the package another suggested use is as a stand for suspending a rubbish bag. If that is all that it can be used for, it's not worth the cash. A redesign is needed.

Best Deals for Coleman High Stand for use with Coleman 2 or 3 Burner Stoves or a

We own two of these stove stands, and we are considering a third as an addition, not a replacement. We purchased the stands 8 to 10 years ago, and have used them several times each year. They are none the worse for wear. We put our 2-burner camp stove on one stand and the ice chest on a second one. Based on the design of our current stove, we must carefully gauge the proper width of the stand for the stove, but once it is set up, it is perfect. The feet of the stand have holes for staking the stand in conditions where you might feel a need to do so, such as when set up on uneven terrain, or if you anticipate people or pets might be inclined to bump into it. Overall, we find the stands to be very stable. I like this design over a camp "kitchen" because it allows me the flexibility of setting up each component individually, based on the characteristics of the camp site. This stand cannot be beat for portability: lightweight and extremely compact when collapsed. Sometimes we place a board over the top of the stand to make a portable table for preparation, dishwashing, or to support a small grill.

As for price, we paid $20 for the original purchase, and the current price is not that much more; I consider the Coleman High Stand an excellent value.

Honest reviews on Coleman High Stand for use with Coleman 2 or 3 Burner Stoves or a

Let me begin by saying that I purchased this stand for tailgating and not camping. Before I even knew this item existed I was looking to purchase an additional portable table because I had been using one of those portable tables that roll up into a bag to support my Coleman grill. Those tables can easily run $40 to $50 so when I saw this item for about $20 I gave it a shot. The stand works, but the design could have been better. The main problem is that there is no locking mechanism in place to prevent the side legs from "butterfly-ing out to the sides". The premise is that the weight of the item on top will prevent this from happening. To be on the safe side I bought Velcro tape for $5 and placed strips under the handles of the grill and on the stand itself to create my own "locking mechanism". I have only used the stand once, but the velcro trick worked and I was able to use my roll up table for other things.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Coleman High Stand for use with Coleman 2 or 3 Burner Stoves or a

After reading the reviews about the stove falling through, I bought anyway but I ran out to the local hardware store and bought a sheet of cheapo compressed board for $5. Cut it to match the stand with a little overhang and then I cut it in half, re-taped with duct tape (so now it folds in half). It fits fine in with the stove itself in the Coleman stove leather bag. Used it this last weekend and it worked great, extended to max, shoved a few stakes in the feet and put the board on top and the stove right on that. Was super sturdy and no possible way for the stove would fall.

They should include something similar with this, small slats that fold out or something. I didn't care too much, it literally took me 3 minutes to cut a $5 thin board, stick some tape on it and done.

They also should have a lock in place for the legs at full open, but that's minor.

I had a Bayou Classic propane burner bookmarked here for over a year before I finally decided to purchase, and at the last minute I switched over to this Brinkmann burner. What few reviews there were were positive, and the extra features looked worthwhile, for the same price. By contrast, I'd been seeing several negative reviews about the Bayou Classic burner.

When it arrived, there was some assembly required. When I say that, I mean the kind of "some assembly required" that parents dread on the night before Christmas. It was in tiny pieces that needed to be assembled. No problem, I'm a handy guy. After 30 minutes, it was all together, although I noticed that some of the pre-drilled holes didn't exactly match the threads on the screws and needed some force to get tightened. That was my first indication of this product's quality. Time to fire it up.

I bought the unit for brewing beer, not for frying turkeys, which is a good thing because the manual prominently states that this unit is NOT for frying turkeys. Interesting, since the Amazon description definitely calls it a turkey fryer. But no problem, this is for brewing beer. Up until now, I'd been brewing on the stove top and this was my first outdoor burner with enough power to heat the batch up in a reasonable time. If I'd had more experience with these types of units, I would have noticed that the fact that the flame was totally yellow no matter what the airflow setting was at was not a good thing. My beautiful stainless steel pots ended up covered up with a layer of black soot that got everywhere and took forever to scrub off. I was pretty disappointed, and spent some time researching the problem on the Internet before I realized that the yellow flames were a sign of a bad air/propane mix. No amount of adjusting the air intake vents would reduce the bonfire-like yellow flames.

I called the customer support number only to find that they answer the phone between 8 and 5 in the Central Time Zone, Monday through Friday. I had to wait until during the week in order to get some help. When I took time from work to call their customer support number, I found that their customer support number consisted of an answering machine, where you leave your name and number, and they'll call back when they can. Like they couldn't leave the answering machine on during the weekends? Customer support called me back 4 hours later and a bored-sounding guy told me to check the air hose for leaks with soapy water and call him back. I told him it was brand new, but he wouldn't help me until I put soapy water on the hose to check it for leaks. I called back later in the week and told him there were no leaks in the hose and he said I should send an email to their customer support center with a copy of my receipt and request a new regulator assembly. I did, and after a week and a half of no response, I called and left another message on the answering machine. I didn't get a callback that day, but the next day I got an email that my part had been shipped. Five days later, I got the replacement regulator. I connected it, fired it up, big yellow flames. I connected the new regulator to a friend's burner and it produced the desired blue flames. I tried sending another email to the email address, but it bounced back as undeliverable. Another round with the answering machine. The bored-sounding guy called me back and told me that I needed to take a coat hanger and clean out the burner assembly because it might be clogged. I repeated that it did this right out of the box and it never worked.

Finally he said he'd send a replacement burner. The only thing is the part is backordered and they don't know when they'll get one.

As I write this, it is almost February. I first received this unit last October. I have never been able to use it, and the bored-sounding guy already informed me that there was no hope of them just sending me a replacement unit. As of the time of this writing, I still have not received a working part.

If I could do it all over again, I would not have purchased this unit.

Update: March 6, 2013. Not a peep from the company. I still don't have a burner that works.

Update: April 16, 2013. I finally called the company again. Got a call back the next day. They say the part is still on order and they should have some in stock by the end of the month. They say they don't carry this type of burner any more. I still don't have a burner that works.

Update: August, 2013. Received the replacement part in the mail. Installed it and it works like it was supposed to. My overall experience with the product and the company are so negative that I will strongly recommend against purchasing this product and other products that the Brinkmann makes.

I purchased this burner and got the next day $3.99 shipping through prime so I could brew a batch quickly...not disappointed at all!

The assembly was easy and quick. It is sturdy and man...does it kick out some heat. I didn't need to push it all the way for my purposes. I used about 1/2 power and had 8 gallons of hose water boiling in 24 minutes! That was with a lid on.

When it came time to boil my wort, it worked great. I didn't time it, but it was quickly up to boiling, and I had about 7.5 gallons going. It could easily handle more, I just don't have a pot big enough to test it.

The great part is that there is room to grow with this burner. I have a 9 gallon pot that is pretty wide, and I have the adjustable base set to the narrowest setting. I could get a 15 to 20 gallon pot on top of this burner very safely. It is rock solid and can handle a lot of weight.

The wind baffles work well, too. It was a relatively windy day, and I was able to adjust the baffles with tilt to keep the wind from affecting the flame too much.

I can't tell how much propane it is using up yet, as I have only one batch under my belt, but my calculations tell me that at 105,000 BTU, you will burn through a standard 20 lb. propane tank in 4 hours. As I said, I was probably going half power on the first batch, since I was getting used to the burner...so I plan on 6 to 8 hours of burn time per tank. Time will tell. This should be plenty for a couple of batches, so I am planning on spending about 10 dollars on propane per batch.

I would highly recommend this burner...no complaints whatsoever.

Best Deals for Brinkmann 815-4005-S Outdoor Cooker Stand

I brew beer and since my electric stove was sorely lacking in power, I purchased this cooker. I'm glad to say that I am VERY happy with my purchase! I broke it in with 5 gallons of water in an uncovered 40 quart heavy aluminum stock pot and it brought the temperature from 72F to boiling in only 19 minutes with the convection zone in the center of the pot, demonstrating an even heating from the burner. This was only at about 75% of maximum power since I didn't want to push it too hard out of the box, but I did turn it all the way up for the last minute or so and I can attest that this cooker can get frighteningly (but safely) hot. The ample heat shielding under the burner and the raised platform ensured there was little risk of damaging my deck while it was on, though it didn't hurt to have large a stone paver underneath it to be sure.

It's well packed, putting it together is pretty simple and the instructions are reasonably clear. A regular size Phillips head screwdriver and a small adjustable wrench to attach the burner to the frame are the only tools required. Construction only took about 20 minutes from start to finish using an electric screwdriver and socket wrench and I thankfully didn't need to make any interpretations as far as the instructions were concerned.

Before using it to make anything, however, I would suggest doing a "break in" run with a large pot of water as I did since the paint will burn off from the cast-iron spiders under the pot and the 3 clamps along the sides. Any brand or model cooker will do this, so that statement is in no way a reflection of this unit's quality.

Overall I am very pleased with the quality of this product, its insane BTU output and ease of construction at a price I couldn't touch anywhere else. If you are looking for an outdoor propane cooker for brewing, large shellfish boils or any other application, I can assure you will be as thrilled as I am with this product.

Honest reviews on Brinkmann 815-4005-S Outdoor Cooker Stand

I have not used the burner yet. I hope it works for Turkey frying as that is what I bought it for. However, the box it comes in has a large red warning across it "this appliance is not for frying turkeys" and the instructions warn it is not for turkey frying and not to use more than 10qts of oil for frying. This warning is counter to the advertisement about frying and I don't know if it is true or just an attempt to avoid liability for turkey frying fires but whichever it is, you've been warned.

UPDATE: I deep fried a turkey and the burner worked Great. Now, I am not suggesting you use this burner to deep fry a turkey. However, I used it to deep fry a 24 pound turkey on a cold day with over 4 gallons of oil and it brought the oil up to temperature fast and the controls were precise enough that I turned the flame down and it maintained the temperature with ease and much better than the burner I replaced.

I moved me review from 2 stars to 3. 3 Because it does work great as for turkey frying but not 4 or 5 because the warning is clear, don't fry a turkey.

We bought this to host a fish fry for Labor Day at our house because frying inside sucks (whole house smells like grease for a week). Four legs are stable. Cooking surface worked great with my stainless 16qt stock pot. heat control is pretty darn good. Lighting is easy... cooking is easy... the little arms that keep the pot from sliding off are a nice touch.

1 star off because of the cheesy mounts for the heat shields. They mount with a single hole, so they are free to shift and spin. If they fall off, I will just buy a small bolt/but and locktite them on. 2 mounting points for the shields woudl have been better, but that is not a real complaint.

For the money I spent on it, she will serve our fish frying and crayfish boiling needs very well!

Searched for months for a grill cover apparently ours is an oddballsize 28" deep. This one is wider than we need, but who cares we finally found one that fits; and it looks great!

Best Deals for Grillfinity Heavy Duty Grill Cover, Medium

Love the heavy-duty feeling of this cover. Red and tan make me feel like it is a 49ers (who I love) cover, without the logo! I have noticed in regular 20-30 mph winds the velcro straps keep coming undone, but I live in an abnormal area in MT that has crazy wind at times, so that is to be understood. The good news is it is long enough and heavy enough that the wind has yet to get up under and pull the thing off the grill, so that is promising.

What sucks is that is has substantially faded already. The red is now borderline light maroon/dark pink already and it has a definitive line of color difference on top vs the sides that don't get pummeled by UV as much. Again, this is to be understood out in my world as we're 4800k+ above sea level and UV is intense here. I would have thought though that it would be still looking good after only a few short months. My guess is by Spring (after our intense winters) it will be all but shot visually. I can deal with that though as long as it stays intact physically. I will update if need be with more info on durability. So far, so good though. Hope it helps.

Last turkey day I bought something like this at a local store for so much more.

After buying it I realized that I need one of those hook things to lower and raise the bird from the oil. I came to Amazon to look for a hook and found this pot for so much less than what I paid and it included the hook I was looking for.

I was able to cook a 15lbs and 18lbs turkey in this (they were snug in there without touching the sides and cooked fine). I like how the pot has higher walls than the one I originally had which makes it a bit safer when the oil level rises and splashes.

The thermometer is not included like the picture.

My roommate owns this grill and I dug it out of the garage a couple of weeks ago. I've used it a few times since then. When I found it there was no handle on the lid and one handle on the side was loose, the other missing a screw. I went through my "spare parts" and found a pretty nice handle for the top and a screw to fix the handle on the side of the grill, but I'm going to have to break down and buy a different grill at some point. I like it quite a bit more than Smokey Joe.

Good:

--Nice, even, close-to-the coals cooking

--Lid really traps the smoke for a rich flavor

--Has not made a mess in the back of my car (what's conservative driving?)

--Despite obvious neglect, I like the grill and I think it would last a few more years without any problem

--Inexpensive

--Fits 6 medium chicken breasts or 6-8 burgers

--Very portable

Lacking:

--Almost no adjustability at all (it cooks fast or really fast)

--A little rickety; quality seems poor but adequate

--No easy way to seal the grill for snuffing coals

I've been using some sort of grill like this one for at least 8 years. They're extremely handy for when you want to grill out at the beach, but not take something more cumbersome or bulky. When my old standby finally bit the dust (rusted out) I bought this grill as a replacement. I've used it several times now and it is great. Easy to assemble, easy to store, and just the right size to grill a meal for my wife and I. I'd recommend it without reservation.

This is a great portable, cheap, and sturdy grill. Took this out by the lake and parks a lot. It allows me really enjoy the summers.

This is the second one of these I have owned. The previous one lasted about 5-7 years with heavy use.

Honest reviews on Char-Broil Table Top Charcoal Grill

I had an older (10yr old) SunBeam table top grill version; build alot more solid than this one.(they don't build them like they used to). The old one was a gas type, just disassemled a few parts and it's and was used as a charcoal grill...

Anyway,I bought a Gas version Char-Broil Top Grill @ the Army Base and it was cheaper.

But I wanted a Charcoal one, so took it back and ordered thru Amazon($29).

A Charcoal grill arrived, it had a small dent on the lip for the lid.

A have a few metal shaping tools and about 30min of pounding it worked out/ the lid was able to sit right. Other people would have had to sent the item back.

Cooked with it about a week later and was happy with it. It's small and portable. I would recommend it only as a small grill.

I did rotated the inserted legs opposite than the instructions and picture on the box/ this way they won't slip out on you while cooking.

Also snipped a few slots on the charcoal tin pan to drop it a little lower, enable to add a few more charcoals into it and keep cooking longer.

other than that it does it's job.

Very conveinient, cooks well, for a small bbq there is plenty of space on the grill (15 in.) the only exception is that the grill could be a little higher off the coals. Love it.
