I was very surprised at the improved flame over the original unit I replaced. Our burner stand is a Brinkmann and didn't work very well. My old burner did not look much different in design and was rusted. However the original one always produced a yellowish flame and stained the bottom of pans with soot; I thought I might be using the wrong fuel (propane). This new one burns clean at low or high settings and when wide open is very impressive, almost scary, in heating the pot quickly. Too bad Brinkmann didn't use this design in their units.

Excellent burner. Flame so clear and blue that you can hardly see it. Definitely puts out the heat. These burners are bullet proof, great price to boot. These burners did not come with the standard propane gas orifice but then if you are replacing the burner on your old system, you can use the orifice from the old one. It needs to be a 1/8th national pipe threaded orifice and that is pretty much standard on these systems.

I bought this along with the new stainless-braided 10psi controller. The controller is great. Wish I could say the same about this. It's basically the same as the one it's replacing, which means that it's cast-iron, poorly finished. That means that leaving it outside for one or two periods of rainy weather will turn it to a pile of rust. I don't know what they use to "paint" this thing, but it doesn't work. So, before this new one goes into service (and into a life of rain/humidity) I'm going to disassemble it. Then it gets a good wire-brushing and a couple of coats of Rustoleum High-Temp manifold enamel. That ought to keep it usable for a lot longer than it is in its factory finish. I recommend that you do the same thing. And while you're at it. you can smooth off the rough spots in the burner area which will make the flame a bit more uniform.

Otherwise, it's a good companion for the 10psi controller.

I bought this burner to go in a homemade fish cooker/crawfish boiler made from a 16" tire rim. I wanted to post a picture but couldn't figure out how to do that. The burner sits in the hole for the axle and is about 4" from the bottom of the pot. I welded angle iron legs on it and short pieces of flat iron on top for the pot to sit on. This burner can be turned down for frying or jacked up for boiling crawfish or shrimp. Unless it gets hit by something hard it should last many many years! Puts out a good blue flame too.

I used a bore and installed this on my Weber kettle grill. It installs easily, looks good and works well.

The temperature readings are very accurate. I use this thermometer for smoking and allows me to keep the lid on to maintain a very consistant temperature. Since it's installed directly on the lid, I don't have it poking through the top vent, restricting my ability to adjust the lid vent.

It's got a short probe so it doesn't interfere with larger pieces of meat either.

I would definitely recommend.

UPDATE!!!

This cover lasted just the Summer when I bought it. It ripped in a few places with normal use and the grill was always wet. After winter, it really fell apart and I threw it out. I called Ducane and found out they still make parts and have new covers for my nine y/o (2004) grill; and it was less money than all of the after market parts that I bought from various websites. I felt that the cover was a very cheap imitation in an authentic box.

I bought a new cover from Ducane since and still have it with the word DUCANE in big bold letters on it that wasn't crooked.

Stable and safe, it holds the chicken proudly upright. That alone is a huge virtue. And, better yet, it actually produces a very excellent result for very little effort. It is easy to clean, too.

The idea is that you add beer to the container below the spikey thing, and also to the pan area. Fruit juice or any likeable liquid also works very well. So, you can finish off the beer and find something in the fridge that will work just as well. I also add garlic and some rosemary because we have a big bush of it outside the door.

You just slide the chicken on and put the little plug in the other end to trap the steam. Steam must be the secret because otherwise it is just heat like in any oven.

My wife makes a rub with some flour, cornmeal, red pepper, salt, garlic powder and onion powder in variable ratios. Rub some oil on the chicken and then the rub. It comes out very crispy on the outside and amazingly tender on the inside.

I use those Weber coal retainers that keep the coals to the sides of the kettle so there is a place in the middle for the chicken roaster. Keep the coals clear to the sides. If you use a chimney charcoal starter, filling it up will give you more than enough coals. The spikey thing rotates easily, so just give it a 1/4 turn every 15 minutes and you will find it is done in an hour at most.

Using it in an oven would work well also. You wouldn't have to rotate it. I would suggest a high enough heat to make the dry rub work.

This is not a cheap item, but is very much worth it because of the results, no nearly good enough alternative and it is so well made that it should pretty much last forever. It will be on Antique's Roadshow some day, so don't lose the plug.

This is easily the best 'beer can' chicken roaster on the market, but if you're not using it during the off months in the oven, you're missing out!

The roaster is very stable, the liquid well is a little small, but I've had good luck with it. I fill the reservoir about halfway when I use beer because it will foam up when the spices are added. Be sure to use the plug provided in the neck opening, it helps to keep the bird moist. I have used a 6 pound bird with this roaster and it wasn't the least bit wobbly. I use it almost exclusively in the oven, even though it works very well on the grill. The bird will not stick to this roaster, not even a little, which is great when you're trying to lift a hot bird. It slides right off.

I use beer, wine or sometimes just broth in the holder, either my own rub mix or when I'm really feeling lazy, Tony's Cajun Seasoning.

Preheat the oven to 375* and roast for about an hour for a medium bird. The chicken comes out really moist and the skin is crispy and luscious. I rotate it 90* about halfway through the cooking time to achieve even browning.

This is my go-to method for cooking chicken. Friends are amazed at how wonderful and moist a chicken can be. We almost fight over the skin.

Tip: Dry the chicken with paper toweling before seasoning, that will help the skin crisp up. If you have the time, leave the seasoned bird in the fridge, uncovered, for a few hours to let it dry out more. Drier=Crispier skin.

This way you can also use wine and what ever spices or herbs you like, and you are able to collect the gravy from the chicken instead of having it spill all over your grill. I read a recipe in Cook's Illustrated about Beer Can Chicken. I'd never heard of it before. Chicken cooked on the BBQ sitting upright on a beer can came out moist and tender. The only problem was getting the darn thing off the beer can. The heat would sear the fat to the can, which was full of boiling hot beer. You can't lie it down; you can't grip the beer can; it's simply a mess.

This Roaster does the same thing, using a teflon rack that catches juices if you want to make gravy. It's easy to transport without spilling all over the patio and kitchen floor, and the chicken comes off the roaster easily. I highly recommend it!

I had originally destroyed my old grill racks on my Grill Master grill by a year of heavy use and poor maintenance. The cost of an original replacement grill grid would have cost me nearly $150 which was ridiculous because the whole grill cost only $200 brand new. I was so happy when I found this replacement for about $50 and it works great. So far I have used it about 20 times. The fit isn't 100% exact but it's close enough for the price probably about 1/32 of an inch too short (enough to allow the grid to move a little when installing).

This is great. If you've ever made beer can chicken, you know it's the moistest, full flavored chicken you'll ever have. This is great, you don't get the chemicals off of a beer can, that probably should never be cooked anyways. All the fat and grease doesn't go into your grill, it's collected in the bottom of the roaster, so you don't have uncontrollable flames or mess to clean up in your grill. Roasting a chicken or turkey breast is so easy, you can season your feast and mount it on the roaster, kick back! We easily use this about once a week. Chicken never cooked so easy. We inject our bird with cajun seasonings or put some garlic and perhaps beer or wine in the cavity, rub the skin with peanut oil or olive oil, just plain seasoning salt sometimes. Clean up is a snap!

Very easy to use. Simply fill the aluminum cup in the tray with beer, wine, fruit juice, or some other beverage. For extra flavor, add spice as well. Place the infusion cone on top of the cup, then place the chicken on top of the infusion cone. Once the chicken is in place, put the infusion cap on top to lock in the steam. Steam cooks the chicken on the inside, heat on the outside. Chicken is tender and juicy on the inside while the skin is cooked to a golden, crispy brown. Fat and grease drain away from the chicken and collect in the bottom of the roaster instead of the grill.

To remove cooked chicken from roaster: Remove the infusion cap. Next, take a pair of tongs and go down the back side of the chicken and slide it off the infusion cone. This is easy to do since the roaster is nonstick. If your chicken is heavy, you may need to support it with a second set of tongs.

Tried the chicken and it was great. I have used the beer can but this was a lot easier. I also cooked a 7 1/2 lb Turkey breast used a cajun salt pepper rub(use only the base unit fits perfect) with the beer and some spice rub in the well). It took 2 1/2 hours on med high. Well worth the wait.

We purchased this roaster for my father. He made an excellent chicken with it last weekend. It provides a nice sturdy base to set your chicken on and allows you to add veggies, beer, wine, etc very easily. I was very impressed on how it held and chicken and the ease of removing the chicken once done cooking. We have a very cheep "beer-in-the-butt" holder and the Weber Roaster was much more stable and easy to use. I do not give it 5 stars because it set the chicken so high, the lid to my fathers Weber Charcoal Grill would not fit. However, he was able to rig a smaller grill rack to sit lower in the grill and it cooked fine.

We had great chicken.

I own a Genesis Silver A and if you do too then you're in the wrong place for replacement grates. I had no idea that I had a Model A until these arrived at my door then didn't fit my grill. My bad, but returning to Amazon was easy and they pointed me to the correct replacement grates for my Weber. To be clear, the grates on this page are for the B & C models. Genesis Silver Model A replacement grates are at this link.

These replacement grates should have come with the grill; unfortunately, the grill came with the porcelain grates which I should have replaced the same day I got the grill 4 years ago. The stainless steel grates work much better because the heat is more evenly distributed, and they're just a more solid product.

There's not much more that can be said about cooking grates, so let me tell you a few things that I do to make my Weber work best for me.

-Most importantly...keep it covered. Amazon sells a cover...get it. Not coving it will cut its life in half at least.

-Cover the funnel shaped grease drip pan with tin foil and change it regularly; otherwise build-up in the trap can catch fire and THAT does not make a steak taste very good.

-Change the disposable grease traps regularly (otherwise they start to stink).

-Get yourself a quality wire brush and use it before each use...NOT after. The build-up on the cooking grates after each use actually protects them from the elements.

-Before each use, after you wire brush the grates, put some cooking oil on some paper towels and wipe the grates down.

-Pre-heat the grill on high for at least 5 10 minutes; it burns off anything left over from the cleaning and makes the cooking grates nice and hot.

-Initiate cooking steaks, chops, any cuts of meat (even burgers...no, not hot dogs) on just-over-medium heat for 2 minutes on each side and flip before cooking to your liking. This brief searing of each side locks in the flavor of your cut of meat.

-Cook with a closed cover; normal cuts of meat shouldn't take more than a total of 10 minutes (including the searing).

-Let your meat sit for up to 5 minutes before slicing (or biting into it!). This locks in the juices; if the juices are too hot when you slice (or bite), they'll run right out of your cut of meat.

There you go. Hope that helps. And don't forget to cover the grill after it cools. Bon appetit!

If you have a Weber grille with the original el-cheapo porcelain coated grates, this is the item to buy! The grates do discolor after the first use but that doesnt affect the performance of them. The heat distribution is nice and even. The old porcelain coated grates wear out the coating, rust and warp. The stainless steel replacements are actually what Weber should have included when the grille was new especially considering what they ask for the grille brand new. I will be replacing any component with the stainless as the original parts go bad.

You might expect when paying the big bucks for durable stainless steel that it will be the last time you'll be buying new grates. You'd be wrong if you're buying Weber's 7527 stainless steel grates. The original porcelain-clad steel grates in my grill lasted twelve years before rusting away. I replaced them with Weber's 7527 stainless steel variants that broke in less than three years. Not rusted; but fractured in half. Problem is that they are constructed of lightweight stamped stainless steel of an obviously low grade. These grates are fabricated using a blanking and forming process that wouldn't be possible with heavy gage, high quality stainless steel.

It's only after buying a replacement set of the same substandard grates that I came to discover that Weber actually does offer a proper set of heavy duty, durable stainless steel grates with heavy welded stainless rods under Weber model #9930. They're clearly more expensive, but they will be the last grates you'll ever need to buy, compared with the 7527 that's only good for a few years of service.

Weber's website doesn't even mention the #9930 as an available option. Thanks Weber! Too late for me, but be warned that the 7527 isn't the way to go. If you can't afford the 9930 grates, the original porcelainized steel grates are a much better buy and more durable than the 7527 grates.

In my assessment these 7527 grates offer poor cost-performance.

The original porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates that came with my Weber Genesis Silver B Grill were starting to look awful. They had not exactly rusted through, but I think by the end of the summer, they would have been "history." I was not in favor of cooking on them for another season because I didn't want anything strange or rusty on my food so I searched the Weber website and saw the stainless replacement, but they were so expensive that I was hesitant to buy them.

Of course, since I am a huge fan of Amazon, I searched here and found the stainless steel grates at an amazing price, at least $20 less than Weber and free shipping. They were shipped super fast and they fit my grill perfectly.

Along with new stainless flavor bars, which I also purchased from Amazon, my grill just about looks brand new. The last items that I need and one that seems to be the most difficult to find are the warming baskets. I cannot seem to find ones that fit the Silver B grill or if you can find them they take forever to be delivered.

I am very pleased with the new grates and look forward to alot of summer grill cooking.

I replaced my original grates with these stainless steel ones, thinking I could avoid the rusting I experienced with the old ones. The stainless steel ones did not rust, but after only two years, they came apart. The vertical grates separated from the horizontal supports, and some of the grates are bent. The problem is that the grates are too thin and seem unable to take the high heat the grill generates. I am going back to porcelain-coated grates.
