Great portable grill, i used it on a camping trip and it takes up a lot less room that my other grill. Plenty of room to cook for two or more. It could use a flat/dome lid for windy conditions, I used foil and it worked fine though. If low profile enough the addition of a lid could fit right in the existing carry bag.

I have owned a number of of smokers. One was a Brinkman charcoal "bullet" type smoker. It worked well but had to be watched over a lot. Then I decided to get a Brinkman electric bullet smoker. It didn't have any adjustments for temp and it couldn't get warm enough during the winter months even though I live in the south. Then I bought a Charbroil vertical propane smoker. It was by far the worst smoker I have ever owned. The wood chips and water are in the same pan in the base. The poor design made you steam the meat as much as smoke it and adjusting the temp was almost impossible. I also owned a wood burning offset smoker. It worked great but you had to constantly adjust the fire to keep the temp where you wanted it. So I started looking for an electric unit without a glass door. I have no use for a glass door. You can't see inside when the smoke gets going and the glass needs to be cleaned constantly.

Not long ago I purchased the Masterbilt smoker and I love it. It was reasonably priced and did not have a glass door. It exceeds my expectations every time I use it. It heats up quickly and stays at the correct temp. The smoker is economical to run and requires very little tending. The water pan and the wood chip pan are both relatively small but once filled, they last for 5 to 6 hours. Once the temp is set, the water and wood chip trays are filled, and the meat is in you can close the door and forget about it for at least 5 hours. The meat comes out smoked but not steamed and not the least bit dried out.

Originally I wanted a smoker with a digital control but during the 3 hour burn in period recommended in the owners manual, I adjusted the controller until I got the temp to 225° and marked the controller with a Sharpie. Now I just plug it in and set it to the mark. The digital would have been nice but it certainly isn't needed.

Now I've been happily married for 23 years and my wife, God Bless Her, is very thoughtful at Christmas for me, the kids and the entire family but this one takes the cake!!..I recieved this smoker last Chistmas and have used it for at least 40 meals. Brisket, Steaks, Meatloaf, Wings, Chicken Breast, Ribs, Pulled Pork Shoulder and even cooked skoked potatoes. maybe the other folk got a defective unit but mine is awesome...I have it in my shed near an open window and it smokes great. The thermometer in the front is good but my wife got an electronic thermometer that has 2 probes. 1 for the meat and 1 for the inside temp of the cooker. She also bought me these 12x12 cake pans 2 inches deep, work awesome....also get that cookbook from John McLemore "dadgum it's good" cookbook....but there's a ton of youtube videos on smoking and recipes. anyhow there ya have it, it's a great smoker. hope ya like it. I left my el cheapo charcoal smoker for this. Many warned me I would miss the charcoal, but they were wrong! Don't miss stuffing newspaper into the chimney lighter and getting black dust all over me from the coal. Only complaint is getting temp up when cold and windy outside. But, if no wind and above 40*, heats up quickly and efficiently. I've since done (3) pork shoulders, (2) chickens and some potatoes, all with good results. Water and wood pans a little small, but sacrifice one shelf to put cheapy tin pans for water and then use water pan for chips also. Works great!

The thermometer on the front, like all non-digital thermometers is trash. Mine was +50 degrees cold, which means, if you are trying to BBQ at 225, its really at 275 and you end up caramelizing any sugar you may have in your rub.

Get a digital thermometer.

Also the heat cannot stay consistent, you'll notice a 20-30 degree swing in the temperature, and if you are going for 225, it doesn't get hot enough at the bottom for the wood chips to smoke and the grease gets all over your water bowl and chip bowl.

THE FIX is to cover the bottom rack in tin foil, this makes the smoker ROCK SOLID. The temp variance is less that 2 degrees up top, and the bottom gets plenty hot for smoke production as well as keeping the inside items clean. Once you get a digital thermometer, and cover the bottom rack in foil, this is a great smoker.

It's inexpensive and works well, not great. Construction is good for the money, but the door can stick when hot. Analog temperature control takes some getting used to and is not trustworthy for holding temps that steady (up to a 75 degree swing). If you can baby sit your smoke like you would a Weber, it works fine...I check the temps every 10-15 min for the first hour, then it settles in fine based upon outside temps, wind, shade/sun, etc. Since there is no inner thermostat (analog), you must manually control the temp with the dial control based upon your experience and what the included-door-thermometer is reading. It's much easier and cleaner to use than wood or charcoal Que's.

Meats come out very juicy with good smoke flavor, much less smoke ring than a charcoal or pellet BBQ. Fill the wood tray up with water-soaked wood chips and it lasts for 7+ hours of good smoke at 250. The water tray is very small and runs out in 4 hours; I add a cheap, foil-lined 9X13 baking pan on the lowest shelf for long smokes, filling it with beer or Coke for extra flavor on long smokes. (If you are unfamiliar with electric smokers, you will not get the same exterior texture as a coal or wood fire but you will get great smoke flavor.) Great for fish and fowl that are not too fatty.

It's the only electric I've ever owned (I like coal and pellets more). I'll buy another it this one ever breaks; it's a year old and going strong for now. Maybe it's overall a 3-star smoker, but it's a 4-5 star electric. Check the sales in the off-season at other online retailers.

This grill is a high quality profesional piece of equipment. I have spent a large earlier portion of my life in profesional kitchens and I know kitchen equipment. This is a tool any pro chef and especially home chefs will appreciate and love. It is well made and functions perfectly. No hot spots that I can find so far. I have really enjoyed making pizza on this grill just put on a stone lit all burners and got grill to 600 f (made pizza on pizza screens do a search you can buy them for about 4 bucks)then when pizza was almost done slid it off screen and crisped on stone.Steak, 1/2 chickens and bone in pork chops all perfectly browned and cooked.I have to say I ordered this grill on a Sunday evening and it was delivered to my home a 8 A.M.Wed morning by private delivery service(free shipping)less than 3 days from order to delivery. Bought from evVive Home great service. Took about 2 hrs to assemble forget the wrench included use an open end or socket and an elec screw driver it was a breeze. This grill takes gas grilling to a new level...I can't believe how much better this grill is than the 10 year old Weber it replaced. The searing station, combined with the high grill heat cooks food quickly without drying it out. If started and all burners are left on high, the grill quickly gets up to about 550 degrees. I tried it with the searing station on as well and the temp was over 650 got so hot so fast I was worried it would melt, but no problems at all. The burners are arranged right to left, as opposed to front to back, making indirect cooking much easier. I have been doing holiday hams and turkeys on the gas grill for years and can't wait to see how much better this grill performs. Steaks are the best ever; read some of the other reviews on the Genesis grills for searing and cooking tips, as I found them very helpful. Biggest tip, is you're probably going to have to reduce the cooking times you are used to because this grill really cooks fast.

Assembly was easy enough, as others have mentioned, the included wrench won't get the job done but a socket wrench and a couple of screwdrivers will do just fine.

Have only used it a couple times, but it works beautifully. It was easy to put together for me and I was very impressed with the quality of the components and the bolts used to assemble it. For the first time in a very long time, I was not concerned about breaking off a tab or piece because everything was heavy duty and well constructed.

Gets hot very fast and keeps in heat very well. Huge improvement from my several year old Costo grill.

Highly recommend it if you are looking for quality.

This is a great set of tools for the price. I was worried about the gauge of steel and wood. You know i did not want the flimsy type tongs that bend when you pick up ribs...or worse the wood rot off after 2 uses. But these are very sturdy, and the wood is thick they should last a long time. There are grooves in the wood handles that give your fingers and thumb places to sit. They are ergonomically comfortable. i look forward to years of grilling with these

I normally shy away from wood bbq tool sets and stick with the all-metal variety. They look good, but I'll leave them out in the rain, throw them in the dishwasher, leave them too close to a heat source, etc. Wood just doesn't hold up under that kind of treatment. When I got this set as a gift I was skeptical. However I've come around...to a point. This will never replace my Weber Style set, but it's a good solid set of tools that I use from time to time. Each piece is good-looking and hefty, which I love. The wood is sturdy and comfortable and the metal doesn't bend like some sets I've thrown away.

I bought this to try with my new Weber Genesis 330 gas grill. Followed the instructions and used the apple wood while cooking chicken. Had the pan sitting over a burner for an hour and a half and it never really smoked at all. I will try again, but not really impressed so far.

Cheap Music City Metals 547S2 Stainless Steel Wire Cooking Grid

I ordered these with some trepidation, I knew from the not so close photo that these had less rods than the DCS versions, but there were no other specs provided other than size. So basically the wire is thinner gauge which looks funny, and there are as I mentioned few less of the grill wires in the grid which means bigger spaces for food to fall through. No doubt this was done as a cost saving measure. So, you own a DCS grill for the finest grilling experience and then you put on these not as good as Original grates. Huh? Does not compute.

I don't want my hamburger or food falling through just because I was trying to save $40 on my replacement grates. I'm sending them back and paying for DCS grates, even though they are well over $150 a set. I wish my grill was one of the later models that came with stainless grates, and I would not be in this position.

This received top ratings from America's Test Kitchen (Cooking Illustrated & Cook's Kitchen). I was skeptical because I have tried about a dozen different grill pans in the 18 months, but none have really worked. This is the best I have used yet.

One was a square-ish pan and the corners snapped and became unusable. A common problem with many pans; they are welded and not stamped or folded. The welds usually break due to the high heat in the grill.

My old favorite is a bowl style; it's decent, but the problem is the top is bigger than the bottom so there is not a lot of actual grilling space. As a result you either have steamed veggies or you have to keep stirring.

The biggest complaint I have about most grill pans is the holes. Either they are too big and things like cherry tomatoes and sliced onions fall through, or the holes are too small. Small holes have many problems: difficult to clean, too many and the food gets too charred, too many holes and the metal separating the holes breaks...etc.

This pan is the best pan I have used yet. It it made of one piece with NO welds; the sides are bent up to create a lip and give the user an edge to flip and turn food. Also, the holes are not actually holes, they are slits. This means that one does not have to worry about food slipping through the spaces; from time to time sliced onions get stuck, but not really a BIG deal. It works great for Portabella mushrooms though it is not just for veggies, it's great for fish. Another big seller is that this is stainless and easy-ish to clean. It's not going to be non-stick easy to clean, you will have to scrub, but with a Brillo pad and elbow grease it's not a big deal.

The only complaint I have is the size. I have a two burner grill (unless I can talk my wife into getting a new grill next summer) and the pan can be a little too big for this type of grill. This "complaint" is not that big of a complaint since I usually don't do veggies at the same time as the meat.

If Weber updates this pan, I would recommend making it available in a smaller size and upgrading the metal; it's a little light weight. It's not bad, a little more heft would be nice.

If you have a grilling fanatic in your family (even if it's you) then buy this pan. It's great! You won't be disappointed. Get this pan.

When I was growing up in the Midwest the outdoor grill meant only one thing, MEAT! Fortunately people are becoming more sophisticated in what they choose to grill. Now it is not unusual to find fish, shrimp, mushrooms, asparagus, you name it, cooking right next to burgers and steaks.

The only problem is, of course, smaller foods can drop through the grill and onto the fire. I have purchased screens and disposable grill pans before and they worked just okay. When I saw this pan and how reasonable it was priced I had to get it.

I like the build of this pan, very heavy-duty without being too thick. The raised sides keep the food from falling off and makes the pan easy to carry. It takes a little effort to clean (I use a SOS pad) but that is to be expected.

I use a small Weber--the Q200-and it is just big enough for cooking for 4-5 people. This grill pan fits perfectly on it but if I want to cook both meat and veggies at the same time I would need a bigger grill. I thought that I would make this little video to show the pan in action. Thank you!

This was chosen by the equipment testers at "America's Test Kitchen"/"Cooks' Country" and I saw it reviewed and rated on one of their PBS shows. They rated it highest. It is a really efficient way to grill vegetables. I just clean zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, etc., toss them in a very small amount of olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper and fresh herbs. I arrange them on the grill pan for my husband to cook after he's finished cooking the meat or fish. The result is delicious, cooked just to the preferred doneness and without heating or steaming up the kitchen. The small openings in the bottom of the grill let the vegetables brown and carmelize just the right amount but keep them all together and out of the fire. (A tip, carry the grill pan on top of a cookie sheet to transport it back and forth from the grill; this keeps anything from dripping on the way to and from the kitchen.)

At the time I purchased this, the product description on Amazon incorrectly stated the dimensions as 14 x 11 inches in one place, and 17 x 11 x 1 inches in another. These are both wrong. When I received it, it stated clearly on the package that this grill pan is 13.5" x 18.5" x 1.5", which incidentally won't fit on my grill. I've submitted the correction to Amazon, but in the meantime buyer beware.

Picked on of these up at Home Depot. The is heavy and well made, but (and the but is the killer) I should have known something was up when one end had been taped up -tell-tale of a return. This cover will not fit Brinkmann off-set smokers. It sounds nuts, but it is true. Here is the problem: the part that is meant to go over the smoke stack will not fit over the damper because it is too narrow. It would fit over the stack just fine, if not for the damper and the tab on it being larger than the diameter of the stack and the pocket designed for it in the cover. So, I don't really know what Breinkmann intended this cover to cover, but it is no one of their off-set smokers. I guess I'll need to acquire a third party cover that will just drape over the smoke stack. At least I can return it locally.
