My main burners tubes in Weber Silver were in perfect shape, however cross over got to be replaced. So I decide to try this tube, since it was cheaper by $5 then original. When I received it, I immediately noticed that it is not an original Weber cross over tube and is bigger in diameter then stated. Had to use dremel to make it fit. The length is true to the size and walls has the same thickness as an original, however cross over holes are not punched as in original, but drilled and they are big, so flame on the side is almost to the size of the main burners. I am not sure how long it will stay, but was lazy enough to initiate return process. Would not buy it again. If you skilled enough to do that job, you can try it. Otherwise spend an extra money to get the original one here in Amazon.

If I had been able to see one of these smokers in the store I would not have bought it. It seems poorly made and doesn't fit together very well. But since I bought it and went to the trouble of putting it together, we gave it a try. It works! We've used it every weekend since we got it ham, chicken, sausage everything is great. I don't know how long this thing is going to last, but I'm going to use it until it falls apart then buy something else.

Great lil smoker. Only downside is temp gauge. It would be better if it was numeric.

After several hours of searching and reading reviews of many different budget smokers I bought the Meco 5031. Easy enough to assemble. Kinda cheaply made, but it is a budget unit. I did check out the competition (under a $100) at the Big Box stores and they were cheaply made also. You get what you pay for! I have used this smoker once and it did a fairly good job. The Pulled Pork tasted great, was tender and moist. I did find it difficult to regulate the heat with the vents in the lid of the unit. Could best control in side heat by adding small chunks of lump coal at a time and leaving the top vents wide open. Hopefully with more practice I'll get this part down better. So, if your on a very tight budget this will get the job done with a little bit of babysitting. If your budget will allow, and you like quality built items, maybe spend the $200 to $300 for a better unit.

Honest reviews on Meco Deluxe Charcoal Water Smoker/Grill

Bought this smoker for my son for Christmas. First of all, it arrived about a week before I expected it, which was great. My son has already used it 3 times since Christmas and is just delighted with the results. He says it cooks faster than he expected, but the flavor and juiciness of the meat is terrific. The size is fine too he has cooked ribs and sausage for 6, and also a whole large chicken. He has already recommended this smoker to a couple of his friends!

Product is made from cheap materials. I have used three times and it does not meet any of the stated model. I would not recommend anyone try this. The cheap models from Home Depot work 100% better.

We have had to replace these occasionally on our 15 year old Members Mark grill. The cast iron just rusts out over time. These fit and were the best price I could find.

If you're looking for the Weber rotisserie for your Weber Spirit 310 grill, this is it. I like the wooden handle and the heavy duty forks. The motor appears to be heavy duty and spun a five pound chicken (yeah!!) with no strain. The counter balance worked like a charm. Just place your flesh of choice on the spit, let it roll to the heavy side down and place the counter balance up on the opposite side. Well worth it. Cooking time was 1 hour and 20 minutes for perfectly cooked juicy rotisserie chicken.

The rotisserie fits our fairly old gas barbecue and works just fine. We have used it very successfully 5 or 6 times. And, we were pleased with the quick delivery of the product.

This product is cheaply made with a nylon primary gear. The first lasted 2 yrs, the subsequent two went out in 2-1/2 years, Our third

just went out as we were grilling a leg of lamb. We live in a mild climate and still stored the unit indoors when not used per the

instruction manual. Weber is very proud of being made in the USA but this important accessory is made in Taiwan by different factories.

Unfortunately, you are stuck with this piece of junk outsourced by Weber. It cost us $ 80 x 4 = $ 320.00 these for redundant failures.

Honest reviews on Weber 7517 Gas Barbecue Rotisserie

I was having trouble finding a Weber model 7517 rotisserie for my Weber Genesis Gold grill. The local garden center where we got it did not carry that particular rotisserie and a call to Weber connected me to a "Customer Service Rep" knew nothing about my Weber model at all. In fact, he could not identify it as one of their models, so right then I knew I had a problem. Being self-reliant, I set out to search for a rotisserie on my own. It took me about 2 minutes to find one on Amazon. The 7517 rotisserie was readily available at Ed Young's True Value. I ordered one and received it very quickly. Setting it up was a snap. The first order of business was to cook a whole chicken and even though I'm no "Emeril", it turned out fantastic. I learned a couple of things... 1) don't rely on manufacturer's customer service people and 2) Amazon produces results. I am very pleased.

Discount Weber 2840001 Summit S-470 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel

Weber 2840001 Summit S-470 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
I've owned a Weber Summit S-470, plumbed for natural gas, for about 2 months my first gas grill. Grilling is easier and more delicious than I ever imagined. I did a lot of research before I bought it, so here is what you need to know if you're new to gas grills, new to Weber, or new to the Summit line:

1) Weber sells most of the gas grills sold in America. Their customer service is legendary. Go hit up their website and look at their warranty info. 25 years, no questions asked replacements on some parts, like the grill hood; 2 years replacement even on high wear items like the burners. There are people grilling away happily on 30 year old Weber gas grills without any problems; so definitely take into account that the warranty and customer service is part of what you're paying for.

2) The S-470 is mostly stainless steel. There is stainless and stainless; to keep their pricepoint, in 2008 Weber switched from grade 304 stainless to grade 420. People in demanding environments (humidity, etc) find that the 420 doesn't hold up quite as well to the elements. You can buy a lower-end, yet feature-identical grill for a similar price in the 'enameled' (E-XXX) series; but when they rust out, you'll need to replace the panel. I think my grill looks great and has held up great so far; time will tell.

3) The grill grates are thick 9.5 mm stainless steel rods. They can be scoured with a brass bristle brush with no fear of damage. The thicker the grate, the more heat transfer into your steakthat is how you get a good sear. These are as thick as they come.

4) The S-470 has a LOT of burner for the cooking area. If you fire up all 4 main burners, the sear burner, the IR burner and the smoker burner, you're putting nearly 70,000 BTU under the hood. The grill will go over 800 degrees on a hot day. That's the other way you get a good sear.

5) The non-IR Weber sear station is just an extra 10,600 BTU burner, sandwiched in between main burners number 2 and 3. It heats up that small middle part of the grill, way hotter than it otherwise would have gotten. Then, when you put your steak down, you get a good sear. There are infrared (IR) sear stations out there in other brands, but they take up a lot of room on the grill grates space you can't use when you're not searing. (For IR only grills, you should know about TEC they have a neat patent, no one else's IR works the way theirs does but now we're talking very expensive equipment that only does one thing, sear with IR, and costs even more than the Summit.) The Weber sear station is great for me you can even sear a whole salmon fillet and it won't stick or fall apart, which I really didn't believe until I tried it.

6) The IR roto burner is something I would not have known to ask for, but now I don't know how I lived without it. It makes the juiciest chicken, with the most delicious skin, that you can ever possibly imagine. In my house it is agreed that the "roto bird" is the best feature of this grill, hands down. A 5 lb bird spins to done in 45-60 minutes.

7) The smoker box is sort of difficult to get good results with and the smoke dirties up the grill. If you want to smoke food low and slow, and you're thinking this grill is going to be just as good as a dedicated smoker unit, you'll be disappointed. If, on the other hand, you want your meats to have just a hint of wood smoke flavor, so they taste like they came off a high-temperature charcoal grill, you can make that happen.

8) Weber makes 3 lower end grill models: the Genesis, the Spirit, and the Ducane Affinity series (branded under the Ducane name, obviously). A sear unit and a non-IR rotisserie unit are planned for the Genesis EP-330 series in 2011, so you are getting close to the S-470 feature set. The only diff between the Spirit and the Ducane (besides price) is that the Ducane is wholly fabbed in China, whereas some assembly of the Spirit is done in the USA.

9) If you're completely new to gas grilling, you will need to first decide on propane versus natural gas. This review is for the natural gas model. You need a gas 'stub' out of your house to use natural gas, and if you don't know what I mean, you probably also need pro installation to avoid blowing yourself up. Propane is easier to startup but far costlier over time, and you need to always keep an extra propane bottle around and constantly schlep your empties back to Wal-Mart. An NG grill will actually save you a little money if you use A/C, as you won't be heating the kitchen (and then cooling it again) for your cooks. Won't be getting steak grease on the inside of your kitchen windows either.

10) Kebabs, squabs, game hens, whole chickens, lamb, suckling pig, pork butt, pork loin, and any kind of beef or sausage burgers, dogs, brats, Polish, whatever it's all good on the grill. Did I mention fresh corn on the cob?! For your vegan friends: skewers of eggplant, mushrooms, peppers, onions, squash, zucc, and whatever else is garden-fresh will soon become smash hits. Seriously. My buddy actually looked happy to be vegetarian when I served him his plate; he's trying to lose weight, poor soul. A lot of people grill flatbread pizza too; I can't eat wheat so I haven't gone there.

11) Lotta books about grilling out there. Bobby Flay, who is grill crazy, has written like a dozen and I have a few; they're full of good ideas. You won't go wrong at any of his restaurants either. I ran into the guy eating at B+B in Vegas not long ago and sent him a nice bottle of wine to thank him. He's great.

12) Gotta clean your grill. Weber makes a 3 or 4 piece utensil kit as do many others. You need a brass brush, long tongs, and a big spatula. I never use the two-tined grill fork. A wide putty knife also helps for scraping crud out of the drip pan; potholders, heat resistant mitts, and an apron are also useful.

In case it wasn't obvious, this grill is one of the best things ever to happen to me in my eating life. I can't recommend it highly enough. I have no regrets. Whatever you do after reading this review, make sure you go get yourself a gas grill. If you can't afford the new one you want, it's easy to refurb an old Craigslist grill with a little help from Weber customer service the warranty comes with the grill. So pretty much you gotta get one!

Weber Summit S-470. Whether a propane model or natural gas, if you're not REALLY into serious grilling, this unit may be a bit over your head. If you *are*, you'll not find a better grill on Planet Earth! This bad-boy has it all: Four MEGA-BTU "main" burners, a center sear-station burner, a smoker box burner and a dedicated IR rotisserie burner. Oh yeah, and a ultra-high power side burner, too.

Your charcoal-grilling buddies tease you because you can't get that nasty charcoal lighter (carcinogen!) "taste" with a gas grill? Ha! You can now and go 'em one better! Use the smoker box and any number of REAL wood chips and you get the taste and odor of apple, alderwood, hickory, mesquite, oak or cherry w/o the CHT chemical dangers!

It's simply incredible! Yeah, it ain't a "hardware-store el-cheapo" either so spend the cash and you're getting a GENUINE Weber-built grill to last no joke a life-time. Check out everyone else's warranty and you'll jump on the Weber wagon if you haven't already.

Weber **IS** quality grilling. Period. You can spend more, you can buy bigger but ya can't buy better.

Feeding more people than this rather large grill can handle with EASE? The Summit S-670 is the King-Kong big-brother of the S-470. If you can't cook on either of these two grills, then just give up, sport and run on down to Burger King!

Best Deals for Weber 2840001 Summit S-470 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel

Old propane unit died and it was time to move up to a much larger cook surface with much more heat and the rotisserie unit. WOW. Made a 14 lb smoked rotisserie turkey one weekend and a Lamb leg the next, as well as steaks, shish kabobs and burgers during the week. Outstanding control of heat! The side burner is maybe too hot, but i think it has to be so the flame won't blow out in the wind. I had to keep the baked bean pot partway off the burner to control the high heat. Also had to adjust my shish kabob technique and use a wooden handled utensil to keep the lid partway open for kabob skewers to be out of direct heat...not a big deal...I could have put handles in as well and used a mitt. Only concern has been with rain... read a report on internet about rain getting into grill/grease catcher and causing a huge mess .. so I'm been keeping cover on once cooled. I would buy this unit again in the future!

Honest reviews on Weber 2840001 Summit S-470 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel

Just got my new S 470 weber and everything worked fine for the first two weeks,,, then it became almost impossible to start the grill. On the phone with Weber Tech several times and after several tank disconnects, reconnects, burner valve clearings, etc. it would finally light,,, then had the same problem today with the same results. Tech wants to blame it on not allowing the tank value to be open for several minutes before trying to light as the problem but after owning Webers, Charbroils, etc over the past 30yrs, this wait time, purging of the valves, etc seems like a lot of hassle for a $1700+ grill. I'm still suspect of the "excess flow safety device" that is not working correctly ( or working too much). This thing has just been rather irritating when trying to grill for guest while they watch me struggle to even light the thing after paying this much money for it.. I must say that Weber tech support always answers the phone quickly.

On November 2, 2009 I purchased the Summit S-650 LP. It was beautiful. It had a Rotisserie Burner, Rotisserie motor, side burner, smoker, and etc. It was the top of the line. I was thrilled. Approximately 1.5 years later the grill started to fail, rust, and turn to a complete piece of trash. It is always under a roof. It is always covered with a Weber Grill Cover. First thing to fail was the Rotisserie Burner. Then all the main burners were replaced. The parts that hold the main burners secure to the grill front and back had to be replaced because they had totally rusted through. The main manifold had to be replaced due to improper operation. The top stainless steel cover has warped in the front center causing black soot to cover the face of the grill. The Rotisserie Thermocouple has been replaced due to failure. The Rotisserie ignition wire has been replaced. The handle lights melted off the handle. This all happened is just 3.5 years.

Now the Rotisserie Burner is failing again. The parts that support the front and rear of the main burners have rusted out again. The main manifold needs to be replaced again. The main burner igniters don't work. The area behind the control knob cover has almost completely rusted out. The front of the cook box has totally rusted through.

The VP of Consumer Services at Weber says this was all caused by the chemicals from my swimming pool which is 18' away. Line in warranty he quoted is:

Deterioration or damage due to severe weather conditions such as hail, hurricanes, earthquakes or tornadoes, discoloration due to exposure to chemicals either directly or in the atmosphere, is not covered by this Limited Warranty.

This warranty line clearly states discoloration due to chemical exposure not damage due to chemical exposure.

The same VP also told me I needed to leave my grill uncovered and out in the rain so all those chemicals would wash off with the rain. He said by covering it and keeping it under a roof, I was making the situation worse.

BTW I din't tell them I had a pool. They must have looked at property records to find out.

Weber-Stephen Grills are no longer the great product we all grew up with.

I have owned a number of of smokers. One was a Brinkman charcoal "bullet" type smoker. It worked well but had to be watched over a lot. Then I decided to get a Brinkman electric bullet smoker. It didn't have any adjustments for temp and it couldn't get warm enough during the winter months even though I live in the south. Then I bought a Charbroil vertical propane smoker. It was by far the worst smoker I have ever owned. The wood chips and water are in the same pan in the base. The poor design made you steam the meat as much as smoke it and adjusting the temp was almost impossible. I also owned a wood burning offset smoker. It worked great but you had to constantly adjust the fire to keep the temp where you wanted it. So I started looking for an electric unit without a glass door. I have no use for a glass door. You can't see inside when the smoke gets going and the glass needs to be cleaned constantly.

Not long ago I purchased the Masterbilt smoker and I love it. It was reasonably priced and did not have a glass door. It exceeds my expectations every time I use it. It heats up quickly and stays at the correct temp. The smoker is economical to run and requires very little tending. The water pan and the wood chip pan are both relatively small but once filled, they last for 5 to 6 hours. Once the temp is set, the water and wood chip trays are filled, and the meat is in you can close the door and forget about it for at least 5 hours. The meat comes out smoked but not steamed and not the least bit dried out.

Originally I wanted a smoker with a digital control but during the 3 hour burn in period recommended in the owners manual, I adjusted the controller until I got the temp to 225° and marked the controller with a Sharpie. Now I just plug it in and set it to the mark. The digital would have been nice but it certainly isn't needed.

All in all this smoker has been great.

She also bought me these 12x12 cake pans 2 inches deep, work awesome....also get that cookbook from John McLemore "dadgum it's good" cookbook....but there's a ton of youtube videos on smoking and recipes. anyhow there ya have it, it's a great smoker. hope ya like it. I left my el cheapo charcoal smoker for this. Many warned me I would miss the charcoal, but they were wrong! Don't miss stuffing newspaper into the chimney lighter and getting black dust all over me from the coal. Only complaint is getting temp up when cold and windy outside. But, if no wind and above 40*, heats up quickly and efficiently. I've since done (3) pork shoulders, (2) chickens and some potatoes, all with good results. Water and wood pans a little small, but sacrifice one shelf to put cheapy tin pans for water and then use water pan for chips also. Works great!

Honest reviews on Masterbuilt 20070210 30-Inch Electric Analog Smoker

The thermometer on the front, like all non-digital thermometers is trash. Mine was +50 degrees cold, which means, if you are trying to BBQ at 225, its really at 275 and you end up caramelizing any sugar you may have in your rub.

Get a digital thermometer.

Also the heat cannot stay consistent, you'll notice a 20-30 degree swing in the temperature, and if you are going for 225, it doesn't get hot enough at the bottom for the wood chips to smoke and the grease gets all over your water bowl and chip bowl.

THE FIX is to cover the bottom rack in tin foil, this makes the smoker ROCK SOLID. The temp variance is less that 2 degrees up top, and the bottom gets plenty hot for smoke production as well as keeping the inside items clean. Once you get a digital thermometer, and cover the bottom rack in foil, this is a great smoker.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Masterbuilt 20070210 30-Inch Electric Analog Smoker

It's inexpensive and works well, not great. Construction is good for the money, but the door can stick when hot. Analog temperature control takes some getting used to and is not trustworthy for holding temps that steady (up to a 75 degree swing). If you can baby sit your smoke like you would a Weber, it works fine...I check the temps every 10-15 min for the first hour, then it settles in fine based upon outside temps, wind, shade/sun, etc. Since there is no inner thermostat (analog), you must manually control the temp with the dial control based upon your experience and what the included-door-thermometer is reading. It's much easier and cleaner to use than wood or charcoal Que's.

Meats come out very juicy with good smoke flavor, much less smoke ring than a charcoal or pellet BBQ. Fill the wood tray up with water-soaked wood chips and it lasts for 7+ hours of good smoke at 250. The water tray is very small and runs out in 4 hours; I add a cheap, foil-lined 9X13 baking pan on the lowest shelf for long smokes, filling it with beer or Coke for extra flavor on long smokes. (If you are unfamiliar with electric smokers, you will not get the same exterior texture as a coal or wood fire but you will get great smoke flavor.) Great for fish and fowl that are not too fatty.

It's the only electric I've ever owned (I like coal and pellets more). I'll buy another it this one ever breaks; it's a year old and going strong for now. Maybe it's overall a 3-star smoker, but it's a 4-5 star electric. Check the sales in the off-season at other online retailers.

I went with the expensive brand thinking I was going to get a bag full of medium to large pieces of quality charcoal. I found the same mix of smaller chunks that I find in the less costly brands. I purchased this product through the web only because my local BBQ supply store closed and I continue to cook through the Winter. I will try the other brands to see if I get the same or better at a lower price.

The chunks were so small that much of it fell through the holes in the charcoal buckets of the grill. Not at all like the old real charcoal I used to be able to find.

Used on my Big Green Egg for searing some steaks and it worked great. It lit and was up to high temperatures quickly. I have not tried it for low-temperature cooking yet.

This burns clean and lights relatively easily... It also fires up to high temperatures nicely. However, for 6+ hour 220 degree cooks for BBQ, it is very difficult to keep lit. My last two cooks required a relighting in the middle of the night. Koko charcoal and others are better options for low and slow cooks.

Cheap Napoleon Apollo AS300K 3-in-1 Smoker

Napoleon AS300K Apollo 3-in-1 Smoker

The Apollo 3-in-1 Smoker does a good job as a smoker but when compared to the Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM) it comes up short. I struggled over which to purchase. I was attracted to the Apollo because it has features that the WSM does not. The Apollo comes with handles in each of its sections. The sections also have clips that hold the sections together. Each cooking section has a hole so that a temperture probe can be placed through to measure the temperture of the food. Unfortunately, the Apollo has drawbacks that out weigh the features it hasover the WSM. The Apollo's is not near as well put together as the WSM. There are many leaks between the sections and doors. The clips that hold the sections together are cheaply made and I expect that they will break very soon. The clips are fastened via rivets so replacing them will be close to, if not impossible, to replace. The metal used in the construction of the Apollo is much thinner that the WSM. The welded seams of each section were not finished well and are very evident. The handles are cheap and I expect them to give out as well. The good news about the handles is that they are bolted on and could be replaced if needed. The Apollo has two small doors, one for each cooking area, for which to monitor the food and add water and charcoal. They too are very very cheaply done and leak quite a bit. In this case, the door metal can be bent to help seal them better but they leak nonetheless. Unlike the WSM, the Apollo does not come with a heat shield at the bottom so caution needs to be used as to where you place the Apollo when in use. Also, unlike the WSM, the Apollo does not come with a cover. The cover is purchased seperately and cost around $30. The cover had a mesh strip about 2 inches wide all the way around. The first night I had the Apollo it rained and water entered through the mesh opening and ended up pooling at the bottom of the base. I imagine that over time the water would rust out the base of the Apollo if allowed to stand for any length of time. The Apollo is warranted for one year. The WSM warranty is much longer depending on the part in question. The temperture gage in the cover is a good feature but is off about 25 degrees. So far, I have smoked pork ribs, beef ribs, chicken, pork butt, and beef brisket. All have turned out great. The Apollo gets the job done but is not as well constructed as it should be if it wants to compete at the same price point as the large (22 1/2 inch) WSM. When the Apollo breaks within the next year I will be purchasing the large WSM.

I bought this in May 2011 and have been very satisfied with it. I considered WSM's but the 22.5" was just way too large for my needs and the 18.5" was way too small. I cook mostly baby back ribs and spare ribs which are ~16"-18" in length and the 20" diameter of the AS300K works perfectly for these. I can lay the ribs flat, put them in a rib rack, or in coils held by kabob skewers. I have also cooked pork butts and brisket, but not often as this is more meat than my family can eat!

The nice thing about this unit is you can pull a section out to cut down on the volume of oven you are trying to heat. This extends the life of your charcoal.

This unit seems to me as well made as the WSM's. I think early versions were not though, and may have given these a bad rap. But the unit I received is the same guage steel and finish as the WSM.

Modifications/tips:

-Before seasoning the unit I went to the local hardware and bought a tube of food grade silicone caulk http://www.amazon.com/Red-Devil-Industrial-0809-0I/dp/B000H5Q5VG and ran a bead between each segment/section/can of the smoker. While moist, I screeded the caulk with a penny. Once dry, this sealed the cans tight when latched together, I would have done this had I bought a WSM too.

-Sprayed the entire inside of the unit with veggie oil spray before the first cook.

-With all 4 vents (3 lower, 1 in dome) wide open, water in the water pan will give you steady 240ºF temps throughout your cook. Omit the water and drop a 16" diameter clay flower pot saucer (bought at Home Depot, about $15) and you will get steady temps in the 300ºF range. Since I bought the saucer I have not used water since. I smoke the ribs an hour exposed to heat and smoke, then wrap them in foil to retain moisture and cook another 2-2.5 hours until done. Then let them rest 15 min. Figure 3lbs of charcoal (I use Stubbs from Lowes) per hour of cook using the Minion Method (I pour one chimney of hot charcoal over fresh charcoal and pecan chunks).

-The Apollo has thermocouple probe holes pre-installed at each grill level. Using a Maverick 732 I monitored a cook at both levels using the clay saucer, there was only about a 5ºF-10ºF difference between the two grates, which surprised me, I figured the lower grate directly over the clay saucer (which in turn is directly over the charcoal) be 25-50º hotter, not so. Clay saucer cooking made a believer out of me.

-The hardware, latches, rivets, etc look fine to me. I own a rivet gun and so am not concerned as another reviewer was if the hardware plays out.

I also own a Tejas 2040 offset smoker but use the Apollo almost exclusively now, I can configure the sections exactly as needed to match the amount of meat I am cooking. I would definitely buy this unit again in a heartbeat.

I love this smoker. It is the most versatile BBQ I have ever owned. I have cooked pizza, whole chickens, pork shoulders, hamburgers, and steaks. With a little practice it will produce the best meat you have ever tasted. It is better than the Weber Smokey Mountain because it has a larger water pan which means less fill ups and a more steady cooking temp. The coal basket is all one piece which is a sturdier design. I have been very impressed with this smoker. I have owned is for 18 months and still looks almost new. I do not work for Napoleon or any other BBQ company I am just a BBQ enthusiast who loves smoked meat.

Honest reviews on Napoleon Apollo AS300K 3-in-1 Smoker

I went back and forth between the Apollo and the Weber Smokey Mountain and I'm glad I chose the Apollo. I'm sure the WMS is a fine smoker but the Apollo is more capable of being multi-functional. I wanted a smoker that easily converted to a charcoal grill and back into a smoker. I know you can jerry rig the WSM to do the same but the apollo was built for it. Also, each segment of the smoker can be broken down and each has handles for easy handling. I've only used the smoker 4 times so far but temperature control is very solid. Low and slow 220 degree temp is easily achieved and maintained. Smoking at a hotter 350 degrees requires a little more tending to but cooking at those temps usually doesn't take that long anyway. The only reason I rated it 4 stars is the latches used to lock each segment together could of been aligned better. They seem solid enough but a little more attention to detail during manufacturing would of been nice. Overall I love the smoker and plan on honing my bbq skills over the next 10 years with it.

I cook outdoors around 2 times a week all year long.I have used and abused this unit for almost 2 years, with no problems. Well OK I did wear out the fire grate but I am still using it and just now looking for a new one.All latches still work and the unit as a whole is in great shape. I expect to use it for at least 2-3 more years, if not more.

A steady temp is easily maintained for 5-6 hours on one load of coals. For grilling pull the water pan and top ring. For a fast smoke pull the just the water pan.I even use a pizza stone on it for great pizza. It is just has more options than other brands, right out of the box.

I have worn several grills out in under 2 years, this grill/smoker is class A quality. If I had to buy a new one today, I would buy this unit again without hesitation.

I bought my grill to use on the boat and decided to use it for a camp grill as well so I needed to buy tabletop legs for it. These were the only game in town. I'd have given them 5 stars but $33 for two small triangles of stainless steel and 4 screws it a little expensive. At least Amazon had the best price around

Only issue but I would not tell you not to buy it is if they made it just another 1/2" larger it would have a bit more give when you wrap it around the BBQ cover. It is made to fix exactly which means you have to pull that sucker down to the front to get it over the lip. Otherwise better than buying it from a dealer.

Perfect fit and good quality. Looks great in our outdoor kitchen. Much better than the original cover that came with our Lynx grill.
