Landmann, Vertical Gas Smoker (Catalog Category: Indoor/Outdoor Review
For reasons that needn't be described but through no fault of the merchant, I ordered the wrong model of this product. As the product is large and a pain to ship, I expected some pushback in returning the product and getting the right model. To my surprise and delight the merchant (IP Camera Store) was most responsive and accomodating. The return was granted and full credit made immediately after the return was received. After careful double-checking, I went ahead and ordered the desired model, which I note actually cost slightly less than the returned product. My hat is off to IP Camera Store for their super customer service. I recommend them highly and will be sure to consult their catalog first for any purchases I make in the future.

Best Mr Bar B Q 06005SSX 18-Inch Plastic Brush Deals
I am on my third one. They last about 4 months, maybe a little more for some people. I tend to grill a lot during the summer months at least once a week.
The biggest problem with this brush is that you have to be very careful and make sure that the bristles are not coming out. My son got a piece of metal bristle in his hamburger that had fallen out and attached to the grill plate.
Expect the new one to last a few years as well.
I would buy again and, at this price, why not?

I've had this brush for a week and have used it 4-5 times and am pleased by how well it cleans my grill and, for a cheap brush, how well it has held up, so far. Just be careful using it on a HOT grill ... I did that and melted part of the head when I tilted it and came in contact with the grill. Lost of few of the steel brush hairs, but that was my fault. No problems at all using it on a warm grill -like you're supposed to.I would buy again and, at this price, why not?

This grill brush sucks! The brass bristles keep falling out and sticking on my grill. This is a HUGE safety concern highlighted by recent news stories about people needing surgery because of this exact problem. The bristles get stuck in food and digested. Unfortunately they don"t it out requiring sometimes surgery to remove! Be careful, sometimes the cheapest isn't worth it!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Mr Bar B Q 06005SSX 18-Inch Plastic Brush
Description of this product is incorrect. It is described as a brass bristle brush, when in fact the bristles are stainless steel. I wanted brass so that my enamelled grill wouldn't be scratched.Monday, September 22, 2014

Reviews of G & F 1682 Heat Resistant Fireplace and Barbecue Pit Mitt
I heat my home primarily with a woodstove. I often have my hands near high heat. With these gloves I've experienced no discomfort or difficulty manipulating the wood. Plus the leather and lining are quite malleable.
The Pros of this product are numerous.
1. As long as you are wearing long sleeves, the comparatively short gloves are completely sufficient at protecting your wrist and forearm.
2. Durable in high heat
3. Comfortable inside lining
4. Rather stylish
The Cons are.
1. When gripping metal at around 800 degrees Fahrenheit (roughly 400 C) These gloves start to melt a little bit and are not sufficient at keeping out the heat.
2. It is hard to clean the inside lining. Especially if you are grilling with raw meat and a rub. So wash your hands first. I know this is a bit of a hassle but you don't want to tear your inside lining, which can happen when you clean it.
The cons are only applicable in certain circumstances which is why I would recommend this product. It is going to rock the gloves off your basic oven mitten :-)
UPDATE: I happened to look back on this review (July 2013) and I see the photo of these gloves has changed. The pair I received were made of black and red suede. The current photo shows an all black glove with what appear to be plastic appliques. Therefore, my review may no longer apply to this newer product.
If you have BIG hands do not buy this product, one size does not fit all. I could not get my hands in this mit, I tried cutting the tips off the fingers and I still could not get my hand in much less close my fist. They should have small, Med, large and extra large. I hope this is helpful, I wish someone mentioned this.

Best Deals for G & F 1682 Heat Resistant Fireplace and Barbecue Pit Mitt
I was looking for something to use with my propane grill that would allow me to remove various cooking utensils (mostly skewers and my fish-grilling basket) from the grilltop with more dexterity than the usual oven mitt. These gloves are handsome looking and very comfortable, but are nearly useless when it comes to heat resistance. If I grip a hot skewer for the 5-10 seconds required to remove meat or vegetables from it, my hand becomes very uncomfortable and I have to shift the skewer from one hand to the other. After just three uses, the fingertips of both gloves have partially melted and show the imprints of the round skewer heads on them. I have cotton oven mitts that are more heat resistant than these gloves, which is a shame because the gloves are very reasonably priced and seem nicely constructed. I would not recommend these for use with a barbecue grill. I am amazed that other users have given them such high praise; maybe the manufacturer has cheapened them or I got a defective pair.UPDATE: I happened to look back on this review (July 2013) and I see the photo of these gloves has changed. Honest reviews on G & F 1682 Heat Resistant Fireplace and Barbecue Pit Mitt
I bought this glove because the top handle of my charcoal grill would hurt to touch when lifting the lid off. It works great for that purpose, I don't feel any heat when lifting the lid. I was also able to use it to pick up a vegetable grilling pan right off the grill and dump the vegetables instead of having to pick them up with tongs. After about 30 seconds I was starting to feel the heat off the pan through the glove, but it worked well for that purpose. It's also been great for moving lit fire logs around in a campfire. The glove it pretty long and covers up to my forearm, the ability to use it on either hand is also a great feature.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for G & F 1682 Heat Resistant Fireplace and Barbecue Pit Mitt

Best 12" Stainless Steel BBQ Kabob Skewers Deals
Europeans (my wife is Russian) only use these permanent type skewers. With a good recipe, this will become a regular tool in your kitchen-indoors or out. We don't bother with the wooden throw away ones or any other material other than stainless since these are permanent and easily washable. Must have for barbacue cooks.
The design is an old standard and I recommend that you buy it in a brick and mortar store if you find it. I had a party coming up in a pinch and couldn't remember which store had these so I bought it on Amazon. Problem is that Amazon doesn't carry these in their warehouse so the secondary retailers always charge a shipping charge which is half the price of the skewer set itself. The rip-off is always the shipping charge from these secondary resellers on Amazon if you're buying inexpensive items, so beware.

EcoZoom Stove - Wood, Biomass, or Charcoal Review
I received my stove a week ago after watching the videos and doing my homework. I was looking for a stove to replace my propane stove that I have used for 15 years camping and fishing throughout the West. I was a little skeptical about the video showing how little wood it will take but then the world is messy and as long as it worked I would be OK with it. I am easy to please but hard to impress. This stove didn't just impress me, it Wowed me. I found my round bottom wok fit perfect on top of the stove so I took one 8 inch square piece of fir and chopped it to the suggested 1/2 inch size so that I had what looked more like kindling than firewood and fired up the stove. In less than a minute the smoke went away and I started a simple pork stir fry in my wok. I expected the stove to over heat the wok but I was surprised that the temperature with the suggested size of wood was perfect. I do the meat first then the veggies so that I don't over cook the veggies but I also had some hard stuff like broccoli that takes time to cook. I cooked over the stove for 30 minutes or so and it was dark when dinner was done. It came out perfect. I still had more than half of my 8 inch square pile of fir left and since the outside of the stove was still cool enough to touch I lifted it and set the stove on our table between us and we had a miniature fireplace that we used to light up dinner. It was quite romantic.
I expected that the stove would be OK, I didn't expect that I would love it. I have not tried green wood in it but there was no smoke with the seasoned wood. I mean NONE. The heat was about like 2/3 of high on my gas stove at home so there is less worry about burning. I mean my propane stove has two settings, off and high. On high it is easy to burn stuff so I have to watch it like a hawk. With my Zoom Dura I went and did some camp chores on the second night I cooked with it. I kept an eye on it but I didn't mother hen it. I got the Zoom Dura, the model without doors, as I belong to the school that says the less moving parts the less there is for me to break. Without the door of the bigger model controlling the temperature was easier than I expected and one 8 inch square of firewood a foot long could cook two meals.
The stove fits perfect in a 5 gallon plastic bucket, although I am looking for a steel one now, and I have a lid for the bucket that is a seat. With my small folding table I have the perfect cooking station where I can set on my rear and cook at eye level. And it all packs up and stays clean in my rig. I am slightly worried that some camp grounds may make me not use it during fire season. In my youth I fought forest fires, I learned to pay particular attention to the sparks and potential problems I might expect in the woods. Only in a heavy wind would there be a problem. The firebox does a real good job of combustion and in the morning there was hardly any ash left. That is expected as it burned hardly any wood.
I love it when a product is even better than I expected. Just in case you were wondering I have no affiliation with the company, they don't know me from Adam.

JUNE 30TH SIX WEEKS LATER:
OK, I have just returned from a month on the Columbia and Snake rivers camping and fishing and have become intimate with my stove. I love it even more now that I have 30 or more meals under my belt. I have found that if I double the amount of wood I can get my wok really hot. The river bank supplies all the 1/2 inch sticks sun dried that I can use. Fire season is underway so no wood fires. In this zero tolerance society, we live by rules and no longer use common sense, even though the river was getting record rain the fire season that started June 9th prevented wood fires. So I got a bag of charcoal that I set next to the stove as charcoal is permitted but continued to burn wood. I used the charcoal bag as a red herring and so far I have not been caught. I have some pretty nifty camping gear but this is my favorite purchase in the last few years. I love it even more now than I did when I did the review above. Smokey the Bear will have to pry it from my dead fingers. I give it 6 stars.

OCTOBER 14 SIX MONTH LATER
Well I am back from fishing for half a year, and all this time this was my main stove. I have cooked on it hundreds of times now and it fits my needs like a glove to a hand. The Charcoal ruse worked everywhere and I never once burned a single briquet in it. The only problem that comes up is the carbon that it puts on the bottom of pots. If you are not careful you can get it everywhere. Here is how to solve the problem kind of. take a small squeeze bottle of liquid soap and put a few drops on the bottom of your pot before you cook. After dinner when you go to clean up everything will wash right off. I then keep my pots in a large plastic bag just on the off chance I missed some spots. Carbon won't be a problem. I generally wouldn't go to this much effort to review something 3 times but I love my stove so much I just had to come back and give you all the carbon/soap tip. Good Luck.
This model is the best one of the series, it has the 6 pot supports and both a fuel door and a lower door for controlling the burn rate. This is a stove you have to tend to. The fuel chamber is pretty small (which helps it burn so clean), but this means that in a matter of 15 minutes it'll burn out if you don't tend to it and constantly feed it sticks. You don't have to put many in for it to be hot, but you do have to lay them out on the feed rack and keep them feeding into it. Don't think you can fire it up, walk away for an hour like you can with charcoal and come back to a cooked meal. This is not that type of stove. You can use it with charcoal and coal and then it'll burn for much longer.
I like knowing I have this stove in my garage since in any kind of emergency I can get a very hot fire going and there will be fuel. For the Zombie Prep group, it's also a covert way to cook, because the flame is contained (not visible) and there's essentially no smoke it burns so cleanly. In nearly every emergency, there's wood of some type around that would be freely available to fuel this stove.
An easy way to light this stove is to place a small chunk of fire starter (sawdust packed with wax) in the burn chamber on your first few sticks and light that. In a few minutes it'll be hot and burning well. Kindling works well too, and once the burn chamber is hot it'll keep everything going nicely. Open the bottom door all the way to increase the air flow at lighting time, close it partially to control the burn rate once you have your fire going. You can also change between the 2 included grates depending on the size of your fuel and how your wood burns. One grate has wider openings than the other and smaller pieces tend to fall through if you use the larger grate.
This stove design is called Rocket Stove due to the swirling action in the burn chamber. The creator has opened up his patented design to help enable impoverished countries get these at less cost and improve their cooking conditions.
*** Nov 2012 I was asked about using coal in this stove. The only coal I have tried is Charcoal, which works great and lasts longer than wood. I don't have lump coal to try but it does come with a coal grate and says it works well with coal too.
4 stars for a great stove that cooks with nearly any wood source, not 5 since it's high maintenance to keep the fire balanced.

As a Scout leader I've found this stove useful since nearly anywhere we camp there's plenty of fuel to feed it. With this stove there's no reason to pack fuel. We use a large Dutch oven on top and cook our meals in that. It also works well with large cast iron fry pans, which distribute the heat nicely. You can also get a steel wok that fits nicely in the center for stir fry. Keep the kids not working on the meal busy by having them gather the fuel ;-)This model is the best one of the series, it has the 6 pot supports and both a fuel door and a lower door for controlling the burn rate. Very fast shipping! I have bought 4-5 other stoves looking for the right one and found most have some fuel compromises. Most need for propane, white gas, butane etc. This one does not! Are you kidding me? A hot, sustained fire with just pine needles, twigs and sticks...wow! Very easy to use. If you can start a fire you can use this stove. We have been with out power due to storms many times; often up to 5 days. This stove will be the go-to cooker stove from now on. Very well made and well packaged. Save your $ and searching. This is the one you want. Get some cast iron pans, dutch oven and a water boiler (all available from Amazon) and your ready. Looking forward to a preppers dinner soon.Honest reviews on EcoZoom Stove - Wood, Biomass, or Charcoal
This is a great product. Heavy duty, efficient, and handy. Great for emergencies or camping. I've used both wood and coal in it to test it and the item preformed very well with both.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for EcoZoom Stove - Wood, Biomass, or Charcoal
I used this stove twice to test it. Both test performed the same (Test 2. note the temp was 80 and it took 17 min. to boil the water). The ambient air temperature was 94 F humidity was about 8% I used the branches from a silver maple tree that had fallen on to my lawn. They were about half an inch in diameter. I broke them with my hands into six inch long pieces and put 6 of them in the stove trough the side opening. I then found some dead redwood tree leafs that had fallen and put a hand full of then down the top of the stove. I struck a wooden match and put it down the top hole to light the fire, I had to do this twice to get it started. All the fuel was very dry and old. The fuel started burning and and I placed a 15 Lt. Cabalas Dutch oven on top of the stove, it was filled with 10 to 13 liters of water. The water was brought to fast fast boil in 15 minutes. I had to add three hand full's of twigs during the test. It burns hot and fast. The best part is that it uses the twigs that fall from the trees that I have to remove before I mow the lawn, now I can save them in my wood shed and use them for the stove if needed. I hope this explains the stove it is worth the price and a practical stove for home use. It is not a back packing stove, but would work fine for car camping. The stove is heavy and well made. I have it stored in a safe dry place in case, I need it. review Oct 2012Tuesday, July 22, 2014
Review of Chefmate® Propane Gas Gauge
This item does work however it gives you very little notice as to when the tank is empty. Once it says that your tank is low you had better have a spare one ready because you will likely run out of gas before you finish cooking.

Discount Cast Iron Grate, preseasoned, fits Smokey Joe Grills, Bodum Fyrkat
Took me a little while to justify spending more on the grate than the smokey joe itself. I finally decided to buy after cooking various meats without a grill mark. It makes an instant difference on the food. I have a weber gas grill w/ cast iron grates and this makes a better mark. As with all cast iron, you have to deal with the weight and upkeep. This will rust if you leave it outside without any cover. If you are serious about grilling, this is a must.
I really need to get the solid grill plate half for veggies so they won't fall through the grate! Especially green beans and asparagus.

I have a Weber Smokey Joe charcoal grill. It's perfect for 1-2 people and doesn't use much charcoal. Why oh why does Weber continue to supply their round units with crappy, stainless wire grills? Finally, a company has stepped in to fill the void. The iron grate is easy to install and use and does a superb job due to its even heating. I've used it for many months with no complaint. Go ahead and buy it--you won't be sorry.I really need to get the solid grill plate half for veggies so they won't fall through the grate! Especially green beans and asparagus.

I've been using this cast iron grate every weekend for about 6 months. The more you use it, the better it gets. You must keep it seasoned like a cast iron skillet or it will rust. It helps to clean it after each use, but I rub a little canola oil on it after each use and leave it in my Lil' Smokey and haven't had any problems with it rusting. The sear and grill marks you get on steaks is fabulous. When I get a larger Weber grill, I'll be sure to purchase one for it too.Tuesday, February 18, 2014

I received the Big Green Egg XL for a wedding gift and was looking for a proper cover. Through my research I've found several "Overpriced" covers. The Two Dogs Designs cover fits my egg well. I was concerned about the fit of the cover as my egg has the two "Mates" (folding tables on either side) and the cover support on the back protrude out. I do have to be careful installing the cover over my egg to not rip it but once on it provides great protection. I was also concerned it would not hang low enough but I am happy with that also.I highly recommend this cover for anybody "on the fence".

Lined and has velcro tabs for wind resistance. My BGE has the nest and side composite shelves. we inherited an old grill with a grate that was rusted in the middle so we always cooked around the edges to avoid massive sticking. boy was i excited to find a perfect after market replacement grate that fits our grill exactly. it's gotten a whole bunch of use this summer and seems to be holding up well. i wipe the grate with a paper towel soaked in canola oil before each use to help avoid sticking.

Professional Cross Wire Cooling Rack Half Sheet Pan Size Review
Received this product and have used it for cooling cookies, sheet cakes, setting up a fried food draining rig (it fits inside a half-sheet pan perfectly), and roasting peppers.
Yes, roasting peppers.
In a bind and running behind, I placed it over a pair of burners and used it as a grill for blackening the skin of 12 green peppers I had planned to use for a dinner party. I thought it was ruined, but it cleaned up nicely with a soak in soap and water.
One heck of a multi-tasker!
Dimensions (for those unsure of what a sheet-pan is):
Full Sheet Pan: 26 x 18 x 1-inch
Half Sheet Pan: 13 x 18 x 1-inch

Charcoal Companion Nonstick Chili Pepper Shape Roasting Rack Review
We have used our jalapeno roasting rack many times this summer and we love it. We tried the recipe that came with it with some modification and it's very tasty prosciutto and cheese, how can you go wrong? The only criticism is the same as others we read peppers that fit the openings are hard to find. Never expected to be picking through the produce looking for the smallest peppers.

The holes for the Chilis are too small. It won't hold a decent sized Pepper.....They fall out of the hole. It would be better to split the Chilis lengthwise and lay them on a cookie sheet or piece of Aluminum Foil to roast them.Best Deals for Charcoal Companion Nonstick Chili Pepper Shape Roasting Rack
The roaster is a great idea, we love the peppers that we roasted with it, but we only used it once due to it's poor design. The holes are too small to securely hold most peppers, so you have to kind of jam them in an hope. It's also awfully tipsy when loaded with stuffed peppers. I dumped most of it's contents twice while filling it, and keeping everything upright on the way to the grill was a task, one pepper never made it! I'm looking at alternative products since the result was so enjoyable.Honest reviews on Charcoal Companion Nonstick Chili Pepper Shape Roasting Rack
It's a great idea, we were really looking forward to roasted stuffed jalapenos. Unfortunately only the very smallest of peppers fit in the holes, others balance precariously dripping cheese. I would have preferred fewer larger holes. Will be looking for replacement now that I know they're out there.Sunday, December 15, 2013
Cheap King Kooker Turkey Fryers Package with Timer
King Kooker turkey fryers are crap. The one I had fell apart after only one year.
I would highly recommend Bayou Classic brand for the following reasons: 1. The pot comes with a basket as well as a turkey rack. 2. It comes already assembled, except for the regulator. 3. It's much more sturdy and the welds that hold it together appear to be more durable.
As for the timer that goes off after 15 minutes, you're not supposed to leave a turkey fryer unattended anyway. But I'm giving it a low review because it's very cheaply made and the burner snapped right off.
To my surprise the King Kooker came with a nearly identical cast iron burner that mounts in the same way. One of the major differences is obviously in the bases, while the Bayou Classic has a heavier base it rests on only 3 points while the King Kooker rests on a broader, square base. The other major difference (and a top negative complaint in the other reviews) is in the regulator assembly, the King Kooker comes with an electronic timer that shuts off the gas if the reset button is not pressed within 15 minutes. While this could be a lifesaver in some situations, it also can prove to be a nuisance. With a little re-plumbing I was able to "eliminate" this annoyance. As for the rest of the regulator assembly, the Bayou Classic gives you higher pressure and a longer hose (my Bayou Classic came with a 36", not a 48" when purchased from Amazon July 2011). It's nice to have that higher pressure on the Bayou Classic but I find that the highest settings wastes much of the flame as it shoots outwards 360 degrees from under the pot. A plus for the King Kooker is that the burner has a ring on the top that helps me center the pot on the flame and even fits our large canning pots.
I found the the pot and accessories of the King Kooker to be of average quality and what you would expect from a name brand turkey fryer set. I feel that the Bayou Classic is a overall nicer unit but at the current prices not worth the extra money, and when it comes right down to it they do have a similar cast-iron burner manufactured in China and a little fix if your handy with plumbing can make one of the biggest problems on the King Kooker disappear.

I own this set and a competitors burner (Bayou Classic SP10). Since I only purchased the Bayou Classic burner I'm only going to be comparing the burners here.To my surprise the King Kooker came with a nearly identical cast iron burner that mounts in the same way. I got this fryer 2 years ago and have used it 4 times before it conked out on me. First problem is the timer, even though this was meant to be a safety measure it is the worst thing they could have added. It is battery operated and shuts of every 15 minutes if you dont hit the button to keep flame ignited. It completely stopped working on the 5th use and I decided to buy another gas hose that can connect to the burner w/o the the timer. The basket is for a small turkey. Would be better with a large basket like the Bayou Classic. Needless to say this was poorly constructed but got the job done when it worked. Would not recommend. While the pot does an admirable job of steaming both shrimp and lobster there is one little drawback. The pot is intended as a Turkey fryer and as a result has a timer that automatically will shut down after 15 minutes (I believe). It is relatively easy to relight although you have to turn everything off and then back on. Since you have to get your liquid boiling to produce steam this can mean that you no sooner get it up to a rolling boil and get your shrimp or lobster in the pan and it shuts down on you.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for King Kooker Turkey Fryers Package with Timer
This is a great item.I watched many you tube videos before I bought this product. I have heard so many horror stories about burning the house down or something else. And you still need to be careful. This item has everything you need. It arrived very quickly. Had everything in it that you need. I did end up drilling a hole in the lid for the thermometer, about half an inch away from the outside edge,so you can just leave it on.I cooked it with the lid on. Great product, thanks.
