Tip look at your burners before ordering this, you might also need burners. I needed them... didn't notice till the old heat shields were removed. I can use mine for another year but will be replacing in the spring. If I had them I would have done it all at once.

This product is difficult to apply, as you are trying to fit a straight line of tape to a surface that is round and top and bottom. But I managed to make it work, and had adequate material, including a small surplus. But after cooking a pork roast for 14 hours overnight at 215 degrees, the tape had apparently lost its adhesiveness and separated on both the top and bottom of my Big Green Egg. I was unable to make adjustments while the grill was hot, and subsequently had to remove the product.

I really like this brush, so much that I have 2 of them for my high-end Jennair Grill. They work very good on the stainless grates.

I live in Florida and grill A LOT!

I can not say any negatives about the brush, but what I can say is that I really want to buy new heads for them...

Bodum sells them, but they want $26 for 3 heads (including shipping) from their site.

The problem with this is that I was able to pick up my complete brushes for less than 1/2 that price including shipping...

As a result, I keep buying new brushes when they are on sale instead of fighting with a dirty brush just to replace the head...

Though this is a portable grill, it is terrific for at home use if you're single, or have a small balcony apartment. It takes very little space, and is easy to maneuver when cleaning time comes.

I've used this gem for years. My apartments, on the whole, mandated the simplicity and efficiency offered up by the Smokey Joe.

A great feature is the rounded top. This enables better smoking, as air and smoke circulates more fluidly.

The downsides:

The legs aren't as sturdy as they could be. Given time, a bit of bumping around and general abuse, and the screwed on legs might turn askew. If you notice this while the grill is hot, you've a problem. The solution is to keep them tight during non-use.

The air intake at the bottom gets clogged with ashes. A key to good charcoal grilling is the manipulation of air flow. The intake might be open, but stopped up. If you are diligent to clean the ahes, you'll be OK.

Because the grill is so close to the ground, you need to be careful. Unlike most of Weber's grill, this one os also apt to getting kicked over, run into by dogs, cars and children.

I fully recommend Weber's Smokey Joe. Now, I'm hungry. Time to stir the coals and pop on a few brats.

I've had one of these little Smokey Joes for probably 15 years now. It definitely has some strong points, but also a few drawbacks.

Pros:

1. Durable. Mine's been outdoors in the weather for 15 years now. When I give it a good cleaning, it looks almost new.

2. Cooks well. I've grilled steaks, burgers, dogs, etc. It does a nice job on them all. And it doesn't use a whole lot of coal to do it. I've got a 22 1/2 weber too, but sometimes when cooking for only 2 of us, I use the smokey joe to save on coals.

3. It's small and does a nice job in a small space like apartment porch or patio.

Cons:

1. It's inconvenient as a Portable grill when traveling. It's got no carry handle or way to seal it up. Also, once you've grilled and need to go, there's nothing to do with the hot coals. You've got to seal all the vents and wait for them to be extinguished. Even then I'd be nervous about dumping them out or putting the grill in my trunk.

2. The legs get bent out of shape easily. I never abused mine, yet somehow they always are bent out of shape. Sure you can bend them back again, but later on its the same story.

If I were buying a small portable grill today, I would go with a rectangular grill like the Weber Go Anywhere grill. The legs fold up and snap over the cover. Then you just pick it up like a tool box by the top handle and go. If you choose a propane version you avoid the problem of dealing with the hot coals afterward.

Best Deals for Weber Smokey Joe Grills

The smaller sized Weber kettle comes through with all the quality and performance as it's larger big brothers. For hamburgers, medium steaks, shish-kabobs, and small family get-togethers, the Smokey Joe lives up to its' family name. Food is prepared to your liking in quick order and domed cover returns heat from charcoal to cook evenly and retained heat and adjustable vents on top and bottom greatly reduces flare-up. Best way to start charcoal with this unit, is with electric starter, and only drawback we found is accumulation of ash in bottom of grill after a few uses. Cleans up easily, and 14" grilling surface is able to meet most needs.

Honest reviews on Weber Smokey Joe Grills

This Smokey Joe Silver grill replaced my old Smokey Joe regular grill (which was 10 years old when I got it and then lasted another ten years). The Smokey Joe Silver grill is made from heavier steel than the old one and feels more substantial. It's just small enough to rinse out in my kitchen sink but big enough to grill for 4 to 6 people on the deck. You'll get about 40 to 60 minutes of premium grill time after your 12 to 15 charcoal briquettes turn grey after lighting. Keep the grill kettle lid on to keep the heat working longer.

Tip: While grilling, never lift the lid straight up, rather move it to the side before lifting so as not to draw ashes up directly into your food.

5/19/2009 This is still a great little charcoal cooker. I continue to use it and recommend it.

1/29/2010 Using this grill in winter is fun because it's so easy to clean up and bring inside after it cools off. For example, after work yesterday we grilled delicious marinated chicken and veggie kabobs in the early evening moonlight, even though it was only about 10° outside. For dessert we roasted marshmallows over the charcoals and watched the full moon. It was great.

This is my second Smokey Joe: The first one (about 11 years old) really only needed the charcoal grate so I figured I'd get a new grate and pass that one on to one of my children and have a new one for me. Although it's relatively small in size, I've done 7 BIG burgers or 5-6 chicken breast-quarters with smoked sausage at one time. And it doesn't require a big amount of charcoal to do the job. After cleaning the cooking grate and the housing it now looks almost new. Would I recommend it You bet!

I just received this from Amazon (not a third-party reseller) last week, and am happy to report that Weber has listened to their customers and stopped with the vents.

This cover is form-fit for my Weber Genesis S-320, and other Genesis 300 series grills. It looks great, and the velcro straps (which are now placed where the vents are pictured) keeps it from blowing off my grill. The material is quite dense, and the quality of the stitching is very good.

Having seen some of the cheaper covers that aren't much more than tarp stitched in the shape of a grill, I was happy to spend a few bucks more. It isn't cheap, but you get something high quality that makes your grill look nice even when it isn't being used.

I used to own the Weber 7552 Cover, which I had on my old Genesis Silver B, and after three years, the thing still looked nice when I sold it, without so much as a loose stitch (though it did have the wonky vent over the handle). This cover feels like it's even higher quality. Totally worth it, as far as I'm concerned.

Update: I've added three pictures of the grill cover I received. Take a look!

Get the "Classic® Veranda Cart BBQ Cover" instead. The "large" size fits the Genesis fine and the vents on the Veranda cover are protected by flaps. And, the price on the Veranda is better. (I don't work for them, but I did buy their cover.)

Best Deals for Weber 7553 Premium Cover for Weber Genesis Gas Grills

I don't understand the ventilation design on the Weber Genesis cover, Model 7553. The 2 side vents do little, if anything, to protect rain from entering the grill and water collects on the side tables, draining into the cabinet below the grill. I believe that defeats the purpose of having a grill cover! Granted, vents are needed to prevent condensation issues. A more strategic placement of the grill cover vents would be far better.

When I purchased my new Weber Genesis S320 grill (from Home Depot) I also purchased the grill cover, Model #7553. When I open the box I immediately noticed the material's high quality and it was a perfect fit on the grill. However, a few days later it rained quite hard. The following day when I pulled off the cover both side tables had large water puddles on them.

I went on Amazon which had the cover listed through a third party. I was pleased to see on the box picture that it didn't have side vents (The dark slot-looking items are Velcro straps). So I purchased the cover and received it in a timely fashion from the vendor. However, as I pulled the cover out of the box (which had the same photo no side vents shown) my excitement turned to dismay. It had side vents and no rear vent. This cover is useless with the side vents so I returned it. The fault is misleading product presentation from the manufacturer (Weber) and not the fault of the Amazon vendor. I hope to find (and purchase) a generic cover which is properly engineered.

Honest reviews on Weber 7553 Premium Cover for Weber Genesis Gas Grills

I just received my cover from evVive and it has no mesh vents at all! Thank you, Weber! I guess someone at Weber was listening. If you have a Genesis or are thinking of getting one, you need this cover. Without it (or with a cover that lets water in), rainwater flows into the grill and ends up filling your drip pan. If your drip pan is already full of grease, you've got yourself a real mess. Now, I just have to return a cover to HD with mesh sides. Finally, I have to recommend evVive (the Amazon seller that filled this order). I ordered the cover yesterday afternoon at 1:00 and received it TODAY at 11:00 AM and I chose standard shipping. Amazing service!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Weber 7553 Premium Cover for Weber Genesis Gas Grills

The grill cover at first is really nice. It fits the Genesis series perfectly and the straps allow you to tightly cover you grill. However, the seemingly durable grill cover is really not that durable. After about 1 year, there was some minor fading and cracking of the cover (the grill stayed outdoors only during the spring and summer months with about 5-6 hours per day of direct sun exposure during the peak summer months). After the 2nd summer of use, the cover was brittle and basically unusable.

Now those of you reading all the positive reviews here on Amazon need to be wary. Most people are reviewing this item immediately after purchasing it. If I had left a review on day 1, it would be a 5 star review since the grill is nicely put together and is a perfect fit for the grill. But for about $50, you'd think a Weber branded item would last a bit longer than 1 2 years. I'm about to purchase a new cover and it won't be this one again. If that one doesn't last longer, I may come back to this...but atleast I know the grill will still be standing strong. Weber grills are awesome...I just wish I could say the same thing about the covers.

This has been a great grill so far this season! While the build probably is not as solid as a similar Weber, the much lower purchase price makes up for this. The handles are very solid and made of an insulated material that doesn't get hot as it lays against the hot grill. The ash collecting canister beneath is very useful it will neatly gather ashes from around 12 pounds of coals before needing to be changed. Another nice feature of this grill is the hood found on the underside of its lid this hook allows me to hang the lid on the side of the grill while I cook, which is convenient. As with any 18.5 inch grill, this will well serve a household of 2-4 people; any more, and I would recommend upgrading to a larger diameter. Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

Considering it is half the price of a Weber, it certainly does the job. Mine was perfectly sturdy once assembled and has done a fine job of cooking. My only real issue is with how quickly the legs have started to rust. I have it covered (Weber cover even) and still the legs are really rusty. I don't know if the same thing would happen with a Weber but I can buy two of these that will last my over four years for the same cost so I will.

Honest reviews on Masterbuilt 20040210 18-1/2-Inch Kettle Charcoal Grill

I found this grill on sale at about half the price of the equivalent weber grill, and thought I was getting a bargain. I figured a grill was a grill it just doesn't seem that complicated. Big mistake. This grill is a cheap piece of junk. It takes two people about an hour to put together, some of the screws were missing and others were stripped (this did not look like a return). Overall, poorly designed for assembly, worse design for use, unlikely to stay in one piece for long. It's cheap, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Big box of wood chunks. Seems simple, right? The thing is, when you buy wood chunks what you normally get from, say, Weber, is a bunch of chunks of wood of varying size. Opening this box I was surprised to note that these chunks were almost uniform in size & shape, ultimately making it much easier to control the amount of smoke.

I have had a Weber Silver B grill for several years. I have found that the igniter works for about two years, then just does has to be replaced. This is an easy replacement, and is not expensive. This ignighter works as well as any I have seen, and I think the minor cost and inconvenience of replacing the ignighter is offset by the quality of the grill.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

After 9 years of use, the wiring broke on the igniter for my Weber Genesis Silver B grill (Pre 2002). I located this replaced and decided to purchase. (You can alway use a match but who knows when it may be a windy day.) Once I realized the top panel of the grill with the white ignition button needed to unscrewed and removed before the old igniter could be removed, everything else was easy. The installation directions were good and the ignition system worked as promised. I am not very mechanical but this was a very easy install, even for me.

Best Deals for Weber 3612 Igniter Kit

I have had to replace the igniter twice in almost 15 years. The igniter was actually still quite good. It is very well made as are most Weber products. The stainless steel gas box is what eventually fails due to rusting (yep stainless steel will rust especially if subjected to heat).

It is easy to replace and I end up giving the entire grill a cleaning and tuneup.

Honest reviews on Weber 3612 Igniter Kit

Can't say too much for a replacement ignitor system but it works. It installed as easily as expected, and appeared to be of a slightly better quality than the part that it replaced. If the previous part is any indication, it should last about 5-7 years, hard to believe in this time of designed obsolesence.

Buy Weber 9890 Gas Barbecue Rotisserie

Weber 9890 Gas Barbecue Rotisserie
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
When I see an item with 1 star, it tells me that item is really bad and to avoid it at all costs. The reviewer stated that the EZ-Que was a better rotisserie, but otherwise had nothing to say about the Weber.

I agree the EZ-Que is a novel and well made piece of equipment, which sells for a lot more money than the Weber rotisserie. The cradle/cage design is easier to load than a traditional spit, and anyone who wants to spend $130 for one is encouraged to get theirs.

(Note: EZ-Que supplies Weber with their cradles, which Weber sells under their own brand name with the Weber motor for $90; substantially less than EZ-Que's price. You can get it here on Amazon if you prefer that style to the traditional spit.)

I have 2 Weber rotiserries, one for the gas grill, one for the kettle. And while I agree the EZ-Que cradles are a better design, the Weber spits are well made and do a good job. The mounting on a Genesis is good and secure. The materials are good. The spit is solid feeling, the counterbalance is nicely made, the motor works well. I can fit 2 whole chickens on the spit and the motor doesn't strain to turn them. The tines that hold the food are large and strong. The food cooked on a rotisserie is delicious.

One reviewer complained about the cord length. Yes, the cord is just a pigtail. You need an extension cord.

Anyways, the Weber is a good rotisserie and I am giving it 4 stars. The 1-star reviewer was off the mark.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This rotisserie fits my Genesis Silver B just fine. I normally use it for chicken and duck. They turn out crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The taste, smell and color of the skin can't be described in words. It is basically impossible to overcook a chicken. At worse, the skin turns very dark, but the insides are still very juicy. I normally set a timer and then walk away. This rotisserie comes with two forks. Another reviewer said Weber won't sell just the basket--you have to buy another motor instead. Fortunately I found another basket that fits--a $10 Charbroil 4744 from the big orange home center. Regarding the weight, I haven't found the need to use it but I'm glad they included it just in case. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because the cord is too short. When the warranty expires, I plan to take the motor apart and install a longer cord.

Best Deals for Weber 9890 Gas Barbecue Rotisserie

I'm an admitted Weberholic; I don't think that better equipment is made for outdoor grilling, and their cookbooks are outstanding. I don't know why I thought that using a rotisserie was too complicated, but when I saw a recipe in Weber's Big Book of Grilling for orange saffron chicken, I decided to add this unit to my Genisis Grill.

The installation was easy, even in Northern Michigan's cold: two bolts attach the motor bracket to pre-drilled holes in the grill, and you're ready to go.

The counter weight, which other reviewers discuss, seems, so far, unnecessary. I may try it with heavier meats, but the whole chicken cooked beautifully in a little over an hour. The motor seems ample to turn the spit without strain.

I am delighted with this product and urge serious grillers to give it a try. I suspect, like me, it will get a lot of use. Two caveats: (1) follow the directions and do not let the motor get wet in bad weather, and,(2)have a grounded extension cord handy, because the unit's cord is only about three feet long.

Honest reviews on Weber 9890 Gas Barbecue Rotisserie

I purchased the Rotisserie expecting to use it for an occasional chicken. The opportunity presented it self for me to cook easter dinner on the grill and I jumped at it. The rotisserie rotated, marinated and cooked a 5lb lamb roast to perfection. The meat was tender, juicy and perfectly colored. Everyone raved and I couldn't take the credit because its was all due to the rotisserie and my Weber grill

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Weber 9890 Gas Barbecue Rotisserie

After using this for the first time, I knew I'd never cook a whole chicken any other way. I tried the George Foreman countertop rotisserie, which is a decent option if you don't have a grill, but there's no substitute for the real thing. If you're wondering whether to get a rotisserie for your grill, stop wondering. Even if you never get any fancier than marinating a chicken in store-bought BBQ sauce for a few hours, you'll be amazed at how much juicier and tastier it is than any other chicken you've ever cooked.

I have the Genesis Silver B, and this fits my grill perfectly. The spit itself is very strong and sturdy, and I have used it on many occasions to cook two large chickens at once (4+ lbs each). I see no need to attach the weight as the motor turns the spit perfectly without the weight attached. The wood handle stays completely cool so you can grab it off the grill the second it's done cooking. The claws are sharp and strong and I throw them right in the dishwasher for an easy cleanup. The spit is much too large to fit in the dishwasher, or in a kitchen sink for that matter, so it must be cleaned by hand, and somewhat carefully to avoid making a mess all over the kitchen. This particular rotisserie is more versatile than the basket-style one because this one is less limiting in the size and shape of what you cook on it. I have two complaints about this product that keep me from giving it 5 stars:

1) The power cord is ridiculously short, and you will need an extension cord almost no matter where your outlet is in relation to the grill.

2) I need to remove the grates from my grill to make room for even a small chicken, which prevents me from cooking anything else at the same time. And even after removing the grates, there's very little clearance above the flavorizer bars, so although I'm sure the spit can handle the weight of a small turkey, I don't see how I could possibly avoid having it drag against the flavorizer bars the whole time it's cooking. This is more a flaw in the height of the notch in the grill that the rotisserie spit rests in than it is a flaw in the rotisserie, but nonetheless it limits the uses of the rotisserie somewhat.

One final side note: I found the people at the Weber hotline to be helpful and accurate about cooking times and heat levels for various types of meats on the rotisserie, so minimize your trial and error period when you first get this rotisserie by giving them a call.

Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

These heat shields are not an exact replacement part. My grill has pegs that the heat shield is supposed to slip over to help hold them in place. The replacement shields don't have holes for those pegs. You can put them in and get them close, or can drill holes where the pegs are to make them more secure. They also are more sloped and not as wide as the originals, but, it does allow anything that falls or drips through the grates to fall off more easily than the flatter original head shields.

Given the price difference between the Sears / Kenmore OEM and these replacements, I would purchase these again even knowing the differences.

Did have to drill holes like others to make it fit our Kenmore grill, but otherwise they are perfect. A LOT cheaper than what Sears wanted for replacements. Fast shipping

Much cheaper than the craftsman OE ones. I had to make a small modification to make them fit, but well worth it.

I am cooking ribs on my 22" WSM as I type this. This will be my third time cooking since I received it a few weeks ago and the results I've been getting have been some of the tastiest barbeque I've ever had. The design is excellent, the build quality is excellent, the instructions and support from Weber all excellent. But after all this "hype" the reason I only gave it 4 stars out of 5 is because, as good as it is, I believe Weber has over-priced it somewhat. I would have expected something of this size and quality to be priced closer to $350 or so.

Anyway, the good news is, the key to successful barbeque is temperature control. I threw away money a few years ago on a cheaper smoker in which it was almost impossible to control and ruined several dollars worth of meat trying. But temperature control is what makes this unit great. The WSM almost feels like cheating. Once you get it set, it just seems to stay locked into a very narrow temperature range requiring very little adjustment as it cooks. It's as easy to keep it "locked in" at 200 degrees as it is to keep it at 325. However, there are a few little tips and tricks of the trade to cooking on a smoker and barbeque in general that require a little research, trial and error, and discussion with experienced "pit masters." For this I highly recommend The Virtual Weber Bullet website and The Virtual Weber Bulletin Board. There is a wealth of knowledge there and you can get questions answered by professionals as well as pit master wannabes who are just starting out and learning too.

I would recommend starting with a Weber Smokey Mountain, a high-quality, easy to use smoker, rather than wasting money on a cheaper one only to realize later that it's too frustrating to use and then have to break down and buy the good one later. That would be the MOST expensive way to get into barbeque at home.

This is a great cooker , I've cooked on a lot of smokers and this one is the best.

First cook was 2 pork shoulders and it could not have gone better.

You can dial this in to 225 degrees and it will hold that temp overnight.

Put the pork on at 9 pm and it was ready to shred at 9am. The best part?

I did not have to get out of bed to check on it! Kudos to weber on the WSM !

This new cooker by Weber will quickly become a classic just like the smaller one has. Nice construction and easy to assemble. As a competition cook that got rid of a trailer mounted offset to go with a couple of these, I gotta tell you how happy I am. Once I got the temp settled in, I didn't touch them (I got two) until the pork butts were done 11 hours later. I HIGHLY recommend this cooker for experienced smokers and especially for those that are just starting...

There are a lot of positive comments about this smoker and most people go to great lengths to explain their happiness. There's a good reason. I've been grilling for a very long time but barbeque wasn't done much over the years because the results just weren't worth the effort. Now I understand that the proper equipment is essential. You'll have a very hard time making good barbeque in a $50 Brinkman. If you're talented enough to do that you're probably not cooking on one of those anyway. This smoker isn't cheap but it also isn't a Big Green Egg or a decent side smoker in terms of expense. Most of the side smokers are hard to regulate and most don't cook evenly without some extra work. Find a blog on side smokers and you'll find lot's of "fixes" and "fiddling" to get the heat even.

This Weber is really easy to use for low and slow cooking and it doesn't require much "tending" on a 10-12 hour cook. By the way, you definitely can use a couple of Weber chimneys to get a good, quick start on the fire without petroleum based fluids if you opt to buy one of these. Lighter fluid is generally a bad thing. You either have to burn up a good bit of your fuel to get all of the lighter fluid gone or, even worse, you stink up your food with it.

We've been using this smoker for about a year now and I'm happy with the purchase. The 22.5 is a surprisingly big boy for sure when you take it out of the box but now I can do 8 racks of ribs if I want. If you don't ever need to do that much, the smaller one may be a better choice for your needs but they both do the same work in the same way. If you've ever seen a Weber kettle grill (and who hasn't?) this equipment will be very familiar to you; same porcelain on steel construction, same vents and still made in the US when I got mine.

Several people mentioned being disappointed with quality of the access door and I agree with them that it should fit better out of the box but, with some careful bending you can get a good seal and then you don't have to fool with it again; it stays put. It's made from fairly thin stucco embossed aluminum that you can easily shape with with your hands. Just take your time to get it shaped a little better to the smoker barrel and you're all set from then on. After getting used to tipping it sideways to remove and replace the access door, it really does work quite well and the size of the opening makes it easy to add fuel or wood chunks during the cook.

I've eaten barbeque from Texas to Virginia and it's always a favorite choice when traveling somewhere because it's all a little different. I've had dry rub ribs at the Rendezvous in Memphis and wet ribs in St. Louis and pulled pork at Dreamland in Tuscaloosa and chicken and rib plates at Johnny Harris' in Savannah and I like Luther's in Houston for brisket! My point is that I've had some REALLY good barbeque but now I can duplicate what the Rendezvous serves right on my patio. My pulled pork is as good as anything I've had in ANY restaurant; ever. The best barbeque I eat is at home now. The restaurants just aren't likely to take the time to do what you can do with this smoker and maybe Big Bob Gibson's book on how to do it....which is well worth the $16 in my opinion.

If you want to do some truly great barbeque at home, spend the money for good equipment and take just a few minutes to learn some rubs and sauces. If you can read, measure and tell time, you can make some excellent smoked meats without buying someone else's WONDER SAUCE (aka ketchup, vinegar, salt and a few minor spices)to slather on the meat and call it your own. What you can make from scratch is cheaper and better than most of what you would buy. And, when you're done, you'll be justifiably proud of YOUR barbeque and probably a very popular cook with the people who get to eat it.

I mean, they're just not going to be getting any peach roasted pork shoulder anywhere but your house......Lord that's a good recipe from Big Bob's book! As we say in parts of the south, "that stuff is so good it'll make your tongue slap your brains out."

Get the smoker, get some books and have some FUN if you like to cook outside and show off a little. You'll be famous and popular in no time.

I (currently) own a total of six WSM's. I use four in competitions 2 18" and 2 22".

The 18" are perfect for chicken and ribs and I use the 22" for Pork Shoulders and Brisket.

The 18" burn more efficiently than the 22".

The 22" offers more room for your bigger meats.

All are built and perform well. The newer model of the 22" resolved the vent tab touching the charcoal grate on the bottom (on the inside). They also rounded the access door chamber, probably to help with the CHEAP door they use. I personally don't use Webers access doors, I purchase after market doors which are built very well.

Weber receives a 4 out of 5 stars because of their CHEAP access door. It is simply a joke when it comes to quality. The vent adjustment tabs get extremely hot during a cook and Weber has yet to address this.
