I loved the way the grill cover looked, but it has faded significantly. Worst part is that it is now so brittle from the sun (I live in Southern CA) that I can't take it on or off or move it with ripping a new whole or making an existing one larger. I really want to like this cover, but it is impossible due to this way-too-rapid deterioration. Look for another option.

I was a little dubious about ordering this based on some of the less-positive reviews. I'm very happy now that I received it I'm not sure if those folks got a different item, but this thing is NOT thin, flimsy or easily torn. Looks great and fits perfectly.Best Deals for Patio Armor 70 in. X-Large Two Tone Grill Cover

I am very disappointed in this terrible product. If I could have given it a minus star rating I would have. Now keep in mind I put this cover away for the winter, so it wasn't exposed to anything but sun and rain. I live in New York. 1. It has faded all over terribly, which they say it wouldn't 2. It has gotten moldy, which it shouldn't have. 3. But worse than that it has developed several tears. So now its torn, faded and moldy its a total mess. On top of it all, it wasn't cheap to buy. All this in less than a year.... Don't buy this product, unless you like to throw away your money.Saturday, November 8, 2014
Review of Fuego EG01AMG Element 21-Inch Dual-Zone Gas Grill, Stainless Steel
I read all the reviews and I was more confused. Because it looks so great, I decided to risk it all and buy the top of the line stainless one. Turns out I made the right decision. It cooks great, it looks great and it's as simple as it gets. The only reason I give it a four star is because the latch system for the cover is kind of a drag. Get the cloth cover for the grill to protect it, however, it does not protect it from mice!! The first time I went to use it, I opened the lid and a mouse had built a nest on top of the grate and was there looking at me! My wife had to come out and rescue me from this horrible sight. The critter jumped into the grease catcher where it was easily transported to freedom. I love the grill. My wife loves the grill. The mouse, not so much.
Plus if you want to add a low-propane gauge, the cover will never close.
Since there is no pitch for your grease to get into the grease cup,
the whole grill sets aflame. If anyone has any idea how to prevent
the grease fires, I'd appreciate the knowledge.

Beautiful grill that will decorate your terrace or lounge area. Heats up very rapidly so it's perfect for searing or pizza making. Can get up to 800 degrees in the mid of winter. The little side table that comes out from the side is all I need to set up the plate to pick up the food. I've not had the door problem reported by other reviewers.Best Deals for Fuego EG01AMG Element 21-Inch Dual-Zone Gas Grill, Stainless Steel
As I'm a sucker for great design, I purchased this grill designed by Robert Brunner who was previously the Head of Industrial Design at Apple. The grill is indeed beautiful in real life, with it's stainless steel perforated body, it's thoughtfully designed goldenleaf chestnut wood swing-out prep tray and sleek design. I purchased the optional natural gas attachment which makes quick connecting to the main gas line a snap and negates the need for refilling propane bottles. Dual heat zones rated at 24,000 btu provide direct and indirect heat sources which are great for everything from grilling to making pizzas with the use of a pizza stone. The only thing that is disappointing, is the door design. I can't believe they messed up this badly on this detail. The door is a swing out style that conceals the propane bottle. Two small phlanges insert into the main part of the enclosure on each side. If you so much as breath on it or look at it sideways, the door falls off. I have tried, on countless occasions, for upwards of 30 minutes to reattach it, with no success. Sigh. Well, hopefully they will correct this on future models. For me, I'm looking into buying a welding kit to solve the problem for once and for all.Honest reviews on Fuego EG01AMG Element 21-Inch Dual-Zone Gas Grill, Stainless Steel
We just recently got the Dark Gun metal grey version of this grill. This is literally the most even cooking best grill I've ever used. 24k BTU on 21inches is insane. Surprised cause most good looking grills usually fall short of cooking power. But will be grilling all summer. LOVE IT so far. Highly recommend.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Fuego EG01AMG Element 21-Inch Dual-Zone Gas Grill, Stainless Steel

I purchased this lamp about a year ago, and it's reasonable decent: a year outside and it has withstood the elements, etc., and provides good light at the grill area. The only precaution is that it gets quite hot while operating, and as I haven't used it for extended periods of time, I can't say if that causes trouble, but I rather suspect that if operated for an extended period, the heat may deteriorate the PVC sleeving around the end.
Update: after a couple of years, I'd have to remove a couple of stars from the rating. The vinyl tubing around the flexible neck is not weather-proof, and deteriorated rapidly. The unit began leaking water and rusting, so I had to re-wrap it with vinyl tape to prevent electrical hazards.
Is a overall great idea; just shoulda been stainless...

Started out great, then the switch stuck, and the cheapo plastic coating on the arm cracked up, then the flex rusted... so it's fine if you don't expect it to last more than a couple of years...Is a overall great idea; just shoulda been stainless...

Very inexpensive and works well. Does not tolerate the elements well and will require replacement within 3 years. I've found most patio fixtures age and require replacement. I'd rather replace a 25 dollar light than a 200 dollar light. I almost paid $249 for a replacement light. Not so sure it will do any better. So, I just ordered several lights and keep them in storage till I need them. Kind of like outdoor umbrellas. They weather and require replacement.Honest reviews on Designers Edge L856 Aluminum Weatherproof Flexible BBQ and Work
although I've owned this light for less than a month, I can tell you it is a good quality product made from solid materials and methods. It is extremely bright, very easy to hook up, and it is such a good product I am thinking about installing a another one on my barbecue Island. I read where one reviewer said the light head gets extremely hot, and I can agree with that, but, it is a halogen, another reviewer voiced concerns about the plastic tubing that in cases the flexible tubing was beginning to deteriorate, I live in the Southwest and we shall see how good it puts up with the summer sun. I will try to report back any findings after the first summerFind helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Designers Edge L856 Aluminum Weatherproof Flexible BBQ and Work
Installed this on my BBQ island about two years ago and have generally been satisfied. There's little doubt that it provides a huge amount of light on the grill surface and the flex neck allows for a great deal of adjustment. The plastic coating on the neck couldn't stand the intense sun of the California desert although I've found that removing it after it began to come apart hasn't impacted the light's performance. My one gripe is that the sun has deteriorated the rubber switch boot such that the actual switch button is now exposed and I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere. Again, I'm not so much worried about rain since it hardly ever rains here but I do hose down the island regularly and am worried that the water will damage or short the switch. My advice to those considering this is that, if you have a covered patio will you will probably be satisfied. Otherwise, you may want to devise some sort of cover for the times it is not being used to shield it from the sun and rain.Thursday, October 30, 2014

Reviews of Cuisinart CCB-5014 Stainless Steel Grill Cleaning Brush
this is a great design and very sturdy but the bristles on the brush are too far apart. thank goodness I can get replacement heads at the local diy store.
Nice looking
Matches the rest of my BBQ utensils perfectly.
Bad:
Brushes immediately folded over on first use.
Basically you can't put any significant pressure on this brush without the bristles just folding over flat. It looks to me the brushes are quite sparse and of a softer metal than one would expect. My cheapo wal-mart plastic handle one has lasted far better, shame too because this one looks so nice.
I returned it...so sad.

Just heat up the grill for 5 minutes with the top closed (using a gas Weber BabyQ 220 grill), then brush the grill surface with this and bingoa nice clean pre-heated (for great sear-marks) grilling surface in seconds! Cheap Davom 52837 ProLock Propane Safety Cap with Lock and 2 Keys
I purchased this for a grill we keep on company premises. I don't want to keep propane inside the building and we do have an occasional kid or two nosing around our property. If I couldn't lock down the propane tank, we wouldn't be able to have a grill.
I gave this four stars because it is still possible to open the valve with the lock in place. I installed this lock but one employee didn't know where the key was and he still managed to open the valve so he could make his lunch.
To quote him exactly "it was really hard and hurt my hand,,,but yes,,,you could do an 8th of a turn or so with a few fingers.. so it took like 5 minutes"
So I can't give this 5 stars, but at the same time, I believe it is highly unlikely that any trespasser here is going to take the time to screw with it.
Solution: chain the tank to the van wheel, and attach the Davom ProLock to prevent access to the tank valve.
Works great, is easy to use, and we don't have the propane tank heating up inside a van with the sun beating down.
I highly recommend this product as a security add-on to any tank stored in an unsecured location or where children may be.
it would be pretty hard to turn the knob with the cap on. Overall it does the job.

We did not want to store our propane tank inside our van while at the football game (we use a 20-lb tank in what our friends have called an extravagent tailgating setup). We also were concerned with leaving the tank out, with a few miscreants wandering the tailgate lots.Solution: chain the tank to the van wheel, and attach the Davom ProLock to prevent access to the tank valve.

This valve cap works well but as another reviewer mentions, it is not totally secure. The top of the valve knob is completely covered, but the bottom is only about 2/3 obscured. Still, as long as you tighten the valve firmly,it would be pretty hard to turn the knob with the cap on. Overall it does the job.

Kit of Two 13.75" GrillGrates (interlocking)+Grate Tool Review

I run the most popular barbecue website and here is what I wrote about it on
I was skeptical when I got a sample of this new product from the inventor, Brad Barrett, but I am now a believer. Big time. The concept is very clever on many levels. Made of hard anodized aircraft grade aluminum, GrillGrates are sold in interlocking sections and sit on top of you current grill grates.
The rail tops are flat and wide and make perfect dark grill marks. They are also unbelievably easy to clean with a wire brush when hot. The base can get very hot and distributes the heat evenly eliminating hot spots and magnifying the radiant heat and helps prevent burning.
Meats like chicken and pork chops brown beautifully. Juices drip and are vaporized in the valleys between the rails and penetrate the meat preventing flareups and enhancing flavor. The sturdy stainless steel spatula's fingers slip between the rails and lift even the most delicate pieces of fish with ease. I have even thrown wood pellets into the valleys between the rails and they begin smoldering quickly and impart a delicate wood smoke flavor.
The company also makes another surface called RealEase, a porcelain enamel hybrid coating that is more non-stick and easier to clean. But the standard anodized aluminum surface releases the meat nicely when it is ready, especially with the custom spatula, and you can easily spray or wipe it with oil if you want.

Well, it's the best grilling tool I've got. I now cook just about everything on it. If it doesn't go on the rotisserie, it goes on the grill-grates. Nothing sticks, and the large fork-style flipper tool is the best cooking implement I have. It's hard to over-stress how easy it makes things to actually lift them off from underneath.
Everything really does seem to cook better on this. Better grill-marks, jucier food, I couldn't want more.
The GrillGrates sit on top and after the initial seasoning have never need to be redone.
Gets very hot very quickly and gives a great sear, both in terms of marks and sealing a steak.
It cooks SO much better than the regular grates did even when the grille was new.
I've had them for about six months now and if anything they get better with time and use.
I use them for steaks, home made burgers, and veggies and have yet to have anything stick.
This is partly because the included spatula is part of the system.
It allows you to get under the food without touching it and just lift it to turn or remove.
I clean them by using a stainless Weber brush Weber 6424 21-Inch T-Brush when they reach full temperature just before cooking.
Two downsides. First they're a little short for most grills (front to back) so they can slide about a bit when being brushed.
Second, the two piece kit is really only suitable if cooking for one, or two at most.
Get the three piece kit or buy an extra piece to avoid frustration.
Loses a star for not making the popular starter kit a three piece, otherwise it's perfect.
I cannot say enough good about it. I'm a weekend BBQ'er (gas grill) and have tried off and on for years to duplicate the ribs I've eaten in good rib restaurants. It is a must-have product for anybody who wants to do great things on their grill without pain. It allows lower grill temps while cooking, seasons quickly, cleans up easily and gives great control over the grilling process.
If you grill, I guarantee this product will make you a better cook. I also purchased the extra piece of grill. Three pieces on a 4 burner gas grill allows you to cook with the two center burners on or just one on for indirect grilling and still load up the grate with a butterflied chicken, 5# of ribs, or several burgers and hot dogs!
I heated up my grill for a half hour and the grates should have been well over 600F, especially considering it was over 100F outside that afternoon.
I put my burgers on the grates and they stuck to them for over 20 mins before I pried them off. So, I got out my temp gauge and the grates came in at around 400F while the grill they were sitting on was well over 550F. It was a windy day, but I kept the lid closed the whole time and wound up with baked/dry burgers.
Maybe a day with no wind and everything else goes perfectly, you'll come out with a "fool proof" experience. So, I'm giving the grates 2 stars in all fairness because I'm not willing to throw any more food away testing/troubleshooting this product.
Updates:
I decided to give it one more shot after receiving a comment from Brad Barrett, president of Grill Grates.
This time around, it was around 100F with no wind whatsoever. I let my Weber Genesis grill heat up for 20-30 mins and hit it with my temperature gauge. The grill came in around 550F while the grates were hitting up to 950F! I put some chicken breasts on there and let them sit for bit and the meat released just like it should have. I then turned the breasts over and closed the lid, turned down the gas and let the chicken finish off. The result was very good chicken done properly with a juicy interior. So, if it's not windy, then the Grill Grates work fantastic. It would be nice if there was some sort of insulator to prevent the grates from losing their heat on windy days, that's why I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars. I'd love to use the Grill Grates in conditions that are common to most situations.

These heat tents were wider than the original ones on our brinkmann however, they work great. The extension piece was not needed as the main tent was long enough, but nice it was included. We'll keep them in case of wear over time to use as a patch, if needed. Overall we are satisfied. Also, with these being wider it is nice to have the areas for wood chips too.

I purchased this item because of its light weight. I own and love my Weber Q 100, but it weights around 35 pounds. I'm getting a little older, and have very limited use of my left arm anymore. This grill is only 11 pounds which is so much easier for me to handle tailgating. I love the Griddle on top. I can toast my hamburger buns, while cooking my hamburger, make pancakes, or do eggs in the morning for breakfast, and not have to bring a skillet. Clean up on the griddle is super easy. I use Pam spray for grills on the grill its self which helps with clean up there. The heat guard or plate that sets between the burners, and the grill is a different story. It sucks to clean up. Don't melt your cheese on your burgers on the grill. Maybe the griddle, but not the grill, you don't want your cheese melting down to the heat shield. This shield also holds the grease from your burgers which causes flare ups, then lots of smoke. I also don't like the screw in valve on the side. Once you get it on you really never have to take it off. I take it off because of travel, don't want it to break, and find out to late in my parking spot trying to tailgate. Getting it on stinks. You assemble this whole grill to begin with. As you put the burner in, you put it in tail first, so that way it hangs outside of the grill, to accept valve and gas. The tail has slots in it, why I don't understand. To correct this they give you a little silver cup, to put over the tail, which gets secured as you put in the valve. This makes it hard to thread the valve properly. To me what this cup does is it covers the slots so wind does not blow out the gas, also so it can allow the gas to get into the burner, other than that you would have a nice fire next to your gas canister.
It is a nice product, with good concepts. To me tho this needs to be tweaked on a little bit more before I would recommend it to anyone.
Pros. Light weight, takes up less room, and griddle means I also don't have to bring a skillet. Pretty good tailgater all in all.
Cons. Flare ups, slots in burner tail intake.
I would also like to add that you have to put the handles on yourself, which is easy, but they give you flat washers to put on between the nut and top. You should really take these washers down to your local hardware store and match them up to lock washers, or your handles will keep coming loose. It's a pain in the butt that their engineers missed this, which is something so simple.
***** PART B ........ Last Year at Chicagoland Speedway during NASCAR race weekend I witnessed one of these grills burn. One of the families there had this grill on a waist high table. I smelled something horrible turned around and watched the green paint bubble, and black smoke rising from this grill. I yelled at them, and they got it off the table, and turned off in time to save their canopy from also going up in flames. No I don't remember what he was cooking. But like I said that heat shield holds grease, and flares up. I do apologize for not updating this after it happened. I completely forgot until I saw that someone had sent me a question on this grill. Give them all the credit for jogging my memory. Thank You R. Yu
Where the lid lacks a hinge, you will need some room to set the lid and griddle aside. I recommend not attaching the chains included to connect the lid and griddle to the base.
The grill and griddle surfaces cook well, although the small size makes it difficult to cook for more than 8 people at a time. The griddle surface cooks evenly, but there is no place for the grease from bacon or sausage to run. The griddle needs to be drained manually which makes cooking larger amounts of food tedious. The grill works as expected. Burgers and brats cook easily.
The compact packaging makes transport and storage easy and convenient. The cover and griddle is supposed to have a retention chain according to the assembly instructions, but I really don't understand the purpose. Assembly is easy, although the handles should really be attached with lock washers instead of the flat washers provided.
In all, this grill is a good value and performs as expected. It is not the perfect grill for all situations, but it excels in being a portable cooking surface for small/medium groups. The grill AND griddle feature means you don't need to buy/bring additional cookware...saving money and space (the reason I bought the grill).

I was intrigued by this grill and its grill surface and griddle surface. I thought this would be great for camping and tailgating. I was right. It is easy to assemble, only takes about 15 minutes. It uses the propane canisters and heats up very quickly. I tried sausage on the grill surface and pancakes on the griddle. They cooked very evenly. It is great that I now have a grill that can do both grilling and griddling. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all covered! The only small issue that I have is that the griddle is not super secure on the top of the grill, so you have to be careful if you lift the lid. Other than that, I am very happy with this purchase.Best Deals for Cuisinart CGG-080 Griddl'n Grill Portable Gas Grill
Purchased grill for family camping vacation. Only one side of the burner works well enough to cook hotdogs. Had to put the cover on in order to get enough heat to cook the hotdogs. Had problems with flare-ups. Didn't try the griddle since we barely got adequate heat to cook the hotdogs. We used the grill only the one time on the camping trip because we were so frustrated with it and have used the grill one time since cooking on only the one side of the burner. Poor design for transporting. You feel you need to carry this thing with two hands so it doesn't come apart when moving it. Since we purchased this while at camp the box and paperwork went into the camp fire. Hoping we can return the darn thing. The reason we purchased THIS grill is because we have always trusted the Cuisinart name.Honest reviews on Cuisinart CGG-080 Griddl'n Grill Portable Gas Grill
At $55, this is a great buy. If you're looking for an affordable propane grill to take camping or tailgating, this will definitely get the job done. It's light, portable and easy to assemble. The regulator works nicely, and the griddle obviates the need for a pan.Where the lid lacks a hinge, you will need some room to set the lid and griddle aside. I recommend not attaching the chains included to connect the lid and griddle to the base.

Bought this grill for use at football tailgates this year. I liked the small size and the portability of the unit but most of all, the integrated griddle in the cover. The combo griddle and grill feature allows us to leave the electric griddle at home and carry only one cook surface to the lot.The grill and griddle surfaces cook well, although the small size makes it difficult to cook for more than 8 people at a time. I have owned my SmokinTex (ST) for over 6 years and have been throughly pleased.
The unit is well built (in China) and very well insulated (I'll explain the insulation later). With the 800 watt heating element, maintaining a consistent temp is easy. I have smoked ribs, pork butt, brisket, chicken & turkey and jerky with fantastic results. The cook box will easily hold enough meat to feed 15-20 people. I have smoked as many as five 5# pork butts without a problem.
One of the fantastic advantages of this smoker is that you use only a few ounces of wood per smoke. I average 4 oz per smoke. One oz of wood is about the size of a golf ball, no kidding, that's it.
Another advantage is that, unlike a stick-burner or conventional smoker you don't have to tend a fire on a long smoke. Set the desired temp and you are good-to-go. No more sleepless nights wondering if the fire is still going. This alone is worth the price if you do much smoking.
The vents on this unit are small, one on the top and one on the bottom, both about the size of a nickel. This serves two purposes: first, there's not much air movement (static environment) so your meat stays moist, doesn't dry out no need to mop or baste. Two, with the slow movement of air, the smoke stays in the box and permeates the meat, thus the need for not much wood. The ONLY disadvantage to this is that the skin on fowl (chicken & turkey) doesn't crisp up. A few minutes on the grill or in a hot oven takes care of this.
This unit is insulated to about 1000*. Yeah, it didn't mean a lot to me either, but here's the skinny: Being so well insulated, it doesn't matter if the outside temperature is 80* or below zero, your cooking time and temperature will be effected little if any. I've cooked on a windy, 14* day with little to no variance from a 75* day. Very impressive!
The unit comes assembled but you will have to thread the casters in. Don't be concerned about smoke leaking around the door when you first start smoking. This will eventually seal itself off as the unit cures 4-8 smokes maybe.
"Keep the door closed!" This is key. Learn to cook by internal temperature of the meat. Each time you open the door you loose moisture and add about 30 minutes to your smoke. Buy a digital thermometer and run it thru the vent hole into the thickest part of your meat. Shoot for a certain internal temp and resist the temptation to open the door. It's a difficult lesson to learn but well worth it!
DO NOT clean the smoker after each use only the grills/grates. I scrape the walls with a credit card or plastic scraper and wipe it down with a damp cloth about once per year.
I have nothing but high praise for this unit. It has served me well. If I had but one complaint it would be with customer service. I did have to replace the heating element about a year ago. It took them forever to return a call or answer an email.
If you like smoked food and don't want to spend hours tending a fire, this unit is for you. Yes, it seems a bit pricey but if you've spent sleepless nights wondering if you fire is still going, you'll know what I mean.
Hope this review helps someone! =)
But if you blindfold the most dedicated 'cuer and provide him with six rib recipes, three done in the STP and three done in, say, a Weber Smoky Mountain, he may not be able to tell the difference, since the visual cue of the smoke ring does not carry over in the taste.
Real-world results with this thing are fantastic. I live in York County, PA, where there are chicken, beef and hog processing plants all over the place. Whenever the local pluckery has a bug surplus (recently they had 20-lb boxes of drumsticks for $7.99) I'll go in, get the bulk item, and fire up the smoker. It's not uncommon to see brisket at 85 cents a pound. If you can smoke stuff low and slow with no effort beyond soaking your meat in a brine and seasoning it, then throwing it on a rack with a chunk of mesquite or applewood or whatever, closing the door and heading to work, you should do it every time there's a good meat sale.
This cooker emits so little smoke that your secret is safe from the neighbors unless you want to share. I was odd or even between the STP and the Cookshack Smokette. I got this because it has some very nice casters and is built quite well. If I had money to burn, I'd go with a Cookshack Amerique, which has a larger capacity, digital temperature controls, and a meat probe.
But I couldn't turn out any better food with that unit. Just more of it with less effort. If you're looking for effortless barbecue you've found it.
The taste of the BBQ coming out of this unit is 2nd to none. We have quit going out for BBQ altogether, since we can't find a restaurant that comes anywhere near what I make at home. We had a graduation party last weekend, and 3 days later one of the guests bought one.
Super easy to use, great customer service, outstanding results. Just get one.
**** It is now 2013, and I replaced the heating element last year. This smoker is still going strong, and produces excellent BBQ. Three of my friends now have one as well.
The unit has very think walls and is extremely well insulated, tight, and efficient. This results in having to use only two ounces of wood per cooking and meat/fish that retains moisture. The ribs I cook in this unit rival those of any restuarant and the unit products a great bark and smoke ring.
This is totally effortless cooking as once the unit is turned on, you don't even need to open the door until the meat is done if you use a electronic thermometer with the lead coming out through the vent hole in the top. As an example, baby back pork ribs take about four hours whereas the more meaty/fatty spare pork ribs take around six hours.
I would heartily and without hesitation recommend the Smokin Tex unit to anyone.
I smoke salmon at about 140 degrees, which I'm doing today (why I'm writing a FED UP review). In that range, the totally inaccurate dial has settings of 100, 125, 150 (total range is 100 to 225). So I try it at logically someplace between 125 and 150. Nope smoker wavers between 150 and 170. I keep a foot-long instant-read dial thermometer poked down in the smoke vent to keep an eye on temperature. The temperature is consistently inconsistent all over the board. If I get it finally settled about 140 with the dial set just above 100! when I go back in a half-hour, it's up to 150. If I turn the control knob down a bit to just under 100, then go back in another half-hour, it's at 90. See-saw, see-saw.
I can't imagine why this company would have a pretty good box and other equipment made, and then go totally CHEAP on the controls which is the only thing that makes the thing work. A nice box that you can't control is a boat anchor. I really, really do not recommend the Smokin Tex. Especially at the price they get for it. It's junk

No, the STP does not leave a smoke ring on your meat. If this is important to you, you'll have to tend a fire. Period. Unless you want to cover your meat in some kind of liquid made to simulate the carbon monoxide effect, producing that pink ring. It isn't the smoke from the wood that does it. It's the invisible poisonous gas from the charcoal and/or wood combustion. Since your heat in a STP/Cookshack is provided electrically, there's no CO to create the ring. But if you blindfold the most dedicated 'cuer and provide him with six rib recipes, three done in the STP and three done in, say, a Weber Smoky Mountain, he may not be able to tell the difference, since the visual cue of the smoke ring does not carry over in the taste.

This is an amazing smoker. I bought mine 5-6 years ago, and use it regularly. The only problem I have ever had with it, was when my 200 pound son decided to use it for a chair, and bent one of the wheels. I called about buying a new wheel, and they sent out a new set of four, no charge. The taste of the BBQ coming out of this unit is 2nd to none. The box itself and the racks and whatnot are fine. The problem is the thermostat system. I have had this thing for over two years, but have only done less than a dozen batches of fish and jerky in it. The first time I used it was fine. The second time, the thermostat totally went out and I had to have the company send a replacement. Of course, you have to do all the repair work yourself. The instructions that come along with the replacement are fine, but it's still a real job. The smoker again worked OK for the next couple of batches, but now you have to really, really watch it.I smoke salmon at about 140 degrees, which I'm doing today (why I'm writing a FED UP review). I just tried my stovetop smoker and was amazed at the results. I've used a large outdoor smoker for years, and was skeptical about the stovetop smoker. I used it to prepare chicken breasts, and they cooked fast and were juicy and tender, and had just the right amount of smoke flavor. I'm looking forward to using my stovetop smoker for seafood and vegetables. It's a great way to add flavor to food, and a very healthy way to cook.
The smoker is constructed from heavy steel and is well made. I could smell the smoke as the food cooked, but it wasn't intense and there was no smoke in the house. I'll still use my outdoor smoker for batch cooking or for smoking large birds, but expect to get a lot of use out of the stovetop smoker.
I think the first thing I smoked in it was salmon and let me tell you it was delicious! I have also smoked chicken, turkey wings, sweet potatoes, potatoes, shrimp, burgers, and cheese all with excellent results. I put the potatoes in the microwave for a few minutes to shorten the cooking time. The chicken doesn't brown as in a traditional outdoor smoker or grill but you can finish cooking it in the oven to brown it. If it's smoke flavor you are after, this is a very good alternative to outdoor smoking!
Cleaning the smoker is a breeze if you first spray the rack with cooking spray. Also if you line the base of the smoker and the drip pan with aluminum foil all you have to do is let it cool completely and dump the foil in the trash. This will help to keep your pans from getting black and shortens clean up time.
To use the product, simply place the wood chips inside the base of the smoker and put the food that you wish to smoke in the tray on top. Virtually any food can be smoked. The guide that comes with the smoker provides suggestions for cooking times and a series of recipes to try. Or simply try your own. Personally, I love cooking pork loin ribs low (250 degrees) and slow (4 1/2 hours) in the oven in the smoker.
The smoker is made of heavy-duty stainless steel and can be washed in the dishwasher.
We have a weekly dinner party and I've been running out of ideas this smoker has added an extensive list of options to the menu! I just ordered my second one as I'll need two for the quantity of foods I'm smoking. I use the smoker to make appetizers (smoked salmon pate, smoked wings, smoked sauces and veggies...) and I've used it to smoke all sorts of meats salmon, venison, chicken breasts, whole chickens, turkey breasts, pork ribs, baby back ribs... We spend our trips to the grocer looking for inspiration for our smoker!
The most surprising thing for me has been smoking vegetables. They come out moist, full of flavor and you would swear the rich smoke flavor should be adding calories! It's hard to believe something that tastes so rich could be healthy! Smoked asparagus, cauliflower, tomatoes, artichokes... fantastic!
I use a layer of foil over the top to add an extra seal for items to large for the space provided you just leave the lid off and make a foil tent (whole chickens and turkeys) it's very easy. We haven't had a smoky kitchen yet -
I've been sending these to my family for gifts if it's back ordered, trust me, it's worth the wait!
Have fun smoking!
However, recognize that this is a HOT smoker. If you are looking to smoke meats and other ingredients for long-term preservation, this is not the unit to use. Because of its small size, with the heat turned high enough to produce adequate smoke, you will easily reach temperatures of 250-300 degrees inside the pan, hot enough to roast many meats and birds. Fresh ham slices, for example, while infusing a wonderful flavor from the smoke, will cook to well done and beyond if you're not careful. Certainly far beyond where I would want to cook them for use in bean and soup dishes.

I lived in a condo for years and really missed cooking outdoors and the tremendous flavor of food slow smoked in a smoker. I bought this awhile ago and have been pretty happy with it. It's stainless steel, durable and comes with samples of 4 different types of wood chips. You can buy more from Cameron international or Amazon.com. I use it all the time and never have any problems with smoke filling up the kitchen and the smoke detector never goes off. It's a closed unit so virtually all of the smoke stays inside. If there is a problem with smoke escaping, the instructions include tips on how to correct the problem. Usually, the lid just needs a little tweaking.I think the first thing I smoked in it was salmon and let me tell you it was delicious! I'm not kidding this smoker has been a revolution in our kitchen. The most important thing is to understand that it is like a Dutch ovenso while your food is smoking it's also roasting. Salmon comes out roasted, but with the most wonderful smoke flavor pork ribs are more juicy than if you grill them, and you have to work to dry anything out (we over cooked venison chops thin meat doesn't need much time!). Most foods cook in 25 minutes although a full size chicken will smoke/roast for an hour and a half.We have a weekly dinner party and I've been running out of ideas this smoker has added an extensive list of options to the menu!

This smoker works as advertised. With appropriate care and attention, you can easily smoke a wide variety of foods and ingredients. At the right temperature, the small leakage of smoke from the unit is not a problem.
