This is not a heavy duty item. However, it does have a convenient design to fold up relatively flat to stick in a car trunk or back of an SUV which makes it great for tailgatilng at concerts or sporting events. I also like the height of the grill, you don't have to get down on your knees cooking on a hibachi on the ground, or bring some other table for your grill. I repeat, excellant design for tailgating, which is what I bought it for.

i use this grill for all my tail gating games. i have literally cooked everything on this thing and have had no problems. I love that it can be folded and does not take up any space. and the best part is when i am done cooking is all i have to do is take the grill off grab it by the handle and dump the charcoal. it makes like so much easier!

The basket works well with grilling vegetables. However, I found that fish sticks to it even after the basket is oiled.

I happened upon the "Talking Wirless Grill Thermometor ("TWGT")in Lowes $29). Being a gadget guy I could not pass it up. Got it home, put in the batteries and it worked perfectly. It immediately measured room temp within 1 degree of my digital room thermometer. I Cooked "Beercan Chicken" on the patio grill that weekend. Put the probe into the thigh as directed and placed the base unit on my kitchen counter about 40 feet away. Opened a cold beer and watched the info on the base unit as I prepared other food in the kitchen. No need to periodically go out to the grill and check the chicken. Instead I watched football and the unit as it measured temp up and up. When it was time, it told me "It's almost done." Headed to the patio when the unit told me "It's done". The TWGT worked great. I was so impressed I went and bought a second one to give as a gift.

Then I tried to use it a second time. I had steak marinated and ready for the grill. Football on TV. Turned the TWGT on but the base was not getting a signal from the probe. I changed batteries, hit the reset button on the probe, shook it, cursed it, prayed. Nothing made it work. I even opened the one I had bought to give as a gift it did not work either. Both units and probes were on but not communicating with each other. I gave up and cooked the steak the old way by trying to time it, lifting the grill and testing it. Very dissappointing.

Fortunately for me, I love gadgets and did not give up. Later, I kept experimenting, trying to figure out what was wrong. I went to Amazon.com and read a review saying you have to hit the reset button, but I had already tried that too many times without success. Then I figured it out. When you turn on the units, if they do not talk to each other, you have to press the reset buttons on BOTH THE PROBE AND THE MAIN UNIT. I'd never noticed the main unit also has a reset button. I turned on both units, pressed both reset buttons one after the other and --SUCCESS! Both units and their probes started talking. Again they were within 1 degree of room temp. I cannot wait to grill out this weekend! Maybe on Sat. for the Gators and on Sun. for the Bucs.

Summing it up? Yea. It would be a good idea for OS to put a troubleshooting section in the manual to cover this problem. As it is you need to either figure it out or call OS. I suspect many of these amazingly fun grill gadgets are lying unused in some dissappointed owner's junk drawer. But, if you know the secret (you can probably get the secret if you call OS customer service)this thermometer is fun, and convenient. I won't grill without it. In fact, I will now use both units at the same time for different foods cooked simultaniously (so much for the gift idea). BTW. The unit's voice is female and she speaks multiple languages. My advice set her for French. I don't speak the language but she sure sounds good. :)

I've used this product for almost two years now and really enjoy it. However, I've had problems getting the two parts to sync up, especially after I hadn't used it in a while. There's a really good review in here that walks you through the process of hitting the reset buttons (under the batter cover) on BOTH units, but even this didn't always work. I was ready to go back to a hardwired unit when I found a solution -remove the batteries in both units, wait a few minutes and reinstall. This has worked for me every time. I now store the units with the batteries removed (good idea anyway) and it has worked with no trouble when I reinstall the batteries. Give this a try before you give up. This issue is why I didn't give it 5 stars.

One other thing to be careful about. Keep water away from where the cable enters the probe. Incorrect temp readings can come from water contamination. From other sites, this seems to be a common problem with these wireless thermometers. I clean the probe with a cloth and rinse under the sink, never letting water touch anything but the part of the probe below the loop that enters the meat.

We bought this from a local hardware store. Our previous thermometers were the analog instant read types and they've died. We use this 3 to 4 times a week for cooking fish, hamburgers, steaks, poultry and have been extroardinarily pleased with the results each and every time. Now, if I don't use it, I can tell the difference. The fish flakes apart perfectly, the poultry is absolutely not bloody, and the hamburgers and steaks are cooked to temperature. There is a setting to set your own temperature if you don't like the presets.

Make sure to put the probe into the meatiest part of the meat and not touching any bones. Also, don't put the probe directly over the flame (the manual says these things). I angle it towards the front of the grill so that it is almost under the cover. That way I can close the grill but it is not over direct flame. I've cooked from low BBQ temps to High grill and had no trouble with it. It's made making dinner much less of a hassle.

We've not used it in the oven, though it says you can. We had one issue where the base unit lost track of the remote unit. The temperature reading started flashing and it couldn't reconnect. I turned off the base unit and turned it back on and it reconnected with no further problems.

We like ours so much that we bought another one as a gift.

The disparity in opinion on this unit is interesting. I can understand it based on my own experience. I couldn't get the transmitter to sync with the base unit. I fooled with it for awhile and finally got it working. I saw a lot of information on the internet related to trouble syncing the unit, so I took the batteries out again and then could get it to sync again. I was at the point of throwing up my hands and sending it back with a nasty note, but finally realized the following:

The user's manual is terrible, but here is how I finally got the transmitter/base unit to talk:

1. With no batteries in the transmitter, install the batteries in the base unit.

2. Turn on the base unit.

3. Press LANG to select the language.

4. At this point, the base unit should be working fully. There will be ---displayed as the current temperature on the base unit.

5. Install the batteries in the transmitter.

6. Press the RESET inside the battery cover on the transmitter.

Consistently, the transmitter and base unit synchronized, but it had to be done in this order. The RESET on the base unit or when the temperature probe was plugged into the transmitter did not seem to affect the sync process. The above procedure is consistent with the user's manual, but the manual does not convey how sensitive the process is to the order of the steps.

This is my experience, hopefully it will help others because the manual certainly does not.

As you will receive this item, it will NOT be the one pictured. The one pictured appears to be well made of good materials. What you will get will not have brass male threads that could fit either the old style valves or the new style. As received, it will be plastic female threads for the new style valves. Furthermore, what looks like red, drawn and formed steel on the regulator body will be unpainted cast zinc potmetal. The supplier has decided to replace this quality item with an inferior one, but has kept the part number and the photo of the old model. I returned the first one, complained to Amazon and was sent another despite the in-depth discussions. The second was exactly like the first.

I did a bit of research and this was the best high pressure regulator for the price. The pressure is easily adjusted just like a air compressor regulator. I do not have a pressure gauge on my system but it seems to be a pretty fine adjustment. 1/4npt fitting might be a little too small for some higher flow applications but it does have enough flow to keep up with an outdoor burner with 3 large burners. I am able to boil the 6.5 gallons of water for my beer wort very quickly.

I'm running seven bg10 bayou turkey deep fryer burners off this and it supplies them great, also it helps to adjust the flame to just that perfect touch, when you need it down and low. Unit is actually small only 3 inches tall and 2 inches long but it does the job. 1/4 inch national pipe thread in and out so it is easy to adapt to what ever you need. I adapted to a 3/4 black pipe for distribution within the barbeque pit area. This regulator must be kept inside a protected area and not for use outside unless it it placed in some type of protective box or cover.

This regulator made my old propane cooker work better than it ever did, by far. Before changeing to this regulator my cooker took forever to get a couple of quarts of water boilling. With the new adjustable regulator the same amount of water boils in 3 to 4 minutes. The cooker flame is like a blow torch. Highly recommended if you want a strong but adjustable flame.

I was stymied by increasingly cooler temperatures in my Weber Summit grill. This happened within a year of purchasing the grill. Searching online, I found that others had experienced stuck regulators and provided a procedural fix, but when I tried the fix the grill flame was better but not back to like-new strength. It was time to replace the regulator. If cranked to max this unit will provide too much pressure for a standard residential grill however I have a side burner that, if run simultaneously from the same regulator, robs the grill of its full heating capacity. The regulator arrived today and I installed it immediately. Sure enough, it brought the grill back to its original BTU output. I adjusted the output pressure for full burner output and we're "cooking with gas" again! One thing though, the unit that shipped does NOT match the photo. The photo shows the standard female propane bottle quick connector, however the unit shipped with a male npt-threaded fitting. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that all my 20lb propane tanks also provide the proper female connection within the former-something that I had never noticed before because I never needed it. The Bayou Classic regulator seems well made and, hopefully, will outlast my OEM regulator. I would give it 5 stars but because the shipped unit did not match the Amazon photo, I am reducing the rating by one star.

Older BBQ was dying....inconsistent temps, weird hot spots. Took the grates and flavorizer bars out and the old burner was cracked and putting out a weird flame pattern. I had cleaned the old burners several times with a wire brush over its lifespan. Ordered new stainless burners and at the same time I decided to get these too. The old bars were enamel coated metal and completely rusted out with holes in the middle and some were split and falling on the burners. These stainless ones look a lot better and I am sure will last longer. Put it all back together and it works like new. Love Weber stuff. Exact fit on all parts and they work great. I highly recommend spending the extra money for stainless. Worth its weight in gold!

This product was only a partial stainless steel, with added alloys. Very missleading when they state stainless flavor bars. Stainless will not attract a magnet, which these do. For the extra cost it is not worth it. Ordered stainless to have the longer life, but found out that there isn't much longer in alloy added to stainless. very dissappointed from a company that has had a good name recognition.

I wanted to like this grill, but I cannot. First impressions are lasting impressions. To being with they attach a paper label to the lid with super glue. I had to mar my brand new grill just to remove some paper. That sucked. Second, they did not provide enough nuts and bolts to finish the construction. Frustrating. Then to top it off, the damn thermometer does not work. I will never buy or recommend a Char-broil product. If they cannot take care of the simple things how can they do anything well.

The offset smoker I purchased is similar to this one but the exact model (the Hondo)has been discontinued. It also has a "New Braunfields" name on it but, nonetheless; it is a Charbroil smoker. After owning it for 5 weeks the weld on the firebox side door broke. The smoker is unusable like this. I was told that they would replace the firebox if I paid for the shipping. I refused. All of the welds on this smoker are only tack welded. Made sturdy enough to get it out of the door. Avoid any product with the "Char-Broil" or "New Braunfields" name on it. It is void of any and all quality and care to it's construction. These products are not worth the cardboard box they come in. In addition to this the shelf was damaged, the thermometer face turned around the pointer making the temperature accuracy within an 80 degree range and missing various other smoker parts. Going to the scrap pile after less than 2 months use. Cutting my losses.

I had special ordered an expensive CharBroil natural gas grill about 8 years ago and was only able to use it a year or two before it fell apart. I was aware of these grills being garbage. I would not have purchased this smoker had I known it was a Charbroil. The 'New Braunfields" name tricked me.

I bought this smoker now two full summers ago and used it approx 25 30 times. By in large, the smoker smoked the ribs, chicken, pork, and beef pretty well. But learning the intricacies of the smoker proved to be an adventure. First, this smoker is pretty unpredictable. it chews through coals fast. I averaged about a full coal load every 3.5 hours at about 250-300 degrees. Second, it leaked so much smoke and temperature, i had to place bricks on top of the smoker box and oven. Third, even though the grill came covered in some kind of smelly rust repellent, the paint quickly wore off at 450 degrees and became a rust magnet. i'm expecting the smoker box to rust completely off here in the next few weeks, which is why i'm back on amazon looking at prices. The unit was good for easy smokes where lack of precision can be forgiven, but it was tough on me when i tried to smoke chicken and brisket.

Oh, and you really could only smoke one thing at a time because the heat concentrates in the first third of the oven. The grates are usually a 100 degrees hotter on the left side than the right side. This is a big problem if you are doing several chickens or big slabs of ribs. I ended up buying four different temp units to monitor grate temp left, grate temp right, center hanging, and internal meat temp.

So, if you like the thrill of unpredictability when you smoke, and wanna go cheap, this is your unit.

One thing you can do with this unit kind of well is grill meat in the oven box. I did several jerk chicken meals that way that turned out really well. You gotta watch it though, since the coals are so close to the grill. But i marinated my chicken quarters in milk and jerk seasoning for 24 hours and, what should have turned to mush, actually turned out quite good.

I have only used the rotisserie unit twice spinning chickens both times and the results were fabulous. (To those who have never done a rotisserie chicken at home and don't know why it could possibly be worth the bother (when grocery stores, Costco, etc. all have them) my only advice is that you really just need to try one done right. Then, do a leg of lamb, a beef roast, and you'll understand.) This is a powerful, quiet motor and a nice stainless spit. I loaded my first chicken relatively unevenly, and the motor put up no fuss at turning it. One comment, make sure when installing the motor braket you put the nuts inside the firebox otherwise the lid of the grill will not shut. Great grill, great accessory.

I got grill mania...bought all the accessories--thru Amazon, amazing company and free shipping, I'm a fan--but, then I had to decide on the rotissierie...skeptical mostly bec it didn't store under the Weber grill and I'd have to find another spot for it. And, there are always those $5 Wal-Mart rotissierie chickens that are cool. So why spend the money? I have no clue why I bought it...just thgt it would look incredible if it worked. Like watching those dripping chix rotate in store windows when I was a kid.

Guess what? It worked. Smell me.

Best chicken ever. Somehowhow most all the juices stay in though you may want to put a washable disposable aluminum pan under the chix to catch the few juices that escape. Do 2 chix at a time...feeds 4 w/ leftovers. Very easy to install when needed, very yum, very worth it.

Of course my old Weber rotisserie did not line up with my new Weber Genesis grill, so I had to buy a whole new one. My old one had a nice large wood handle. The new one has an oval metal handle that sits at right angle to the rod and it gets as hot as if were inside the grill. You have to use pot holders to remove it when the food is done. Also the handle needs to be in the up position in order to grab hold of it because it sits about a half an inch away from the grill body when it's facing down so there's no space to grab it. Because the handle does not extend out, you need two hands on the spit to support the weight of the food. An absolutely horrendous design, perhaps even dangerous. Lastly; why does Weber include cheap metal screws, nuts and washers for mounting the motor bracket when everything else is stainless steel? They corrode in no time with the heat and grease. I replaced mine with stainless.

Aside from the poor handle design, for cooking the set-up works great. We use ours all the time; roasts, pork tenderloin, chicken, turkey.

Between the rain drops I was able to squeeze in some time to roast my first chicken on the Weber Genesis rotisserie. It took about 1hr 15 mins and was simply the best chicken I have ever made. The skin was crisp without being burnt and the chicken just fell off the bones and was incredibly tender. If you make your own, you'll never be content with the grocery store or BJ's version again. I can't wait to try this on some lamb or prime rib.

Easy assembly and clean up was a breeze. Only down side... can't use it in the rain!

I looked for quite some time trying to find a rib rack for our smoker. Its an old Oklahoma Joes we bought 15 years ago. This is one of the few racks that hold the ribs parallel to the cooking area instead of across it so I didn't have to cut the ribs in half and could still shut the lid. It's nice and heavy construction too. It's a bit crowded with 4 racks on it though, so it doesn't get an even smoking unless you re-arrange the ribs. I would have preferred it to be an inch taller to hold the ribs more upright, they tried to flop against each other, and we used it for baby backs. Just a few changes would have made it perfect but even so this is the best rack I have found for the smaller barrel style smokers.

I purchased this for large BBQs to avoid transferring multiple racks at a time. The unit is sturdy and holds up to 4 racks of ribs. It's so much easier to lift all racks at the same time because of the handles on both sides of the rack. I did have two issues with the rack:1)Taking baby back ribs in and out of it can be difficult because of their curvy nature. If you only BBQ spareribs, then there will be no issues at all. 2) My method of cooking ribs involves a low smoking cook method. Because the ribs cook at a different angle, they don't come out as moist as when they cook bone-side down. Overall, I would recommend this, especially if you're BBQing for a large crowd.

To start with the delivery window from amazon was 30-60 days so I ordered very early before a camping trip. The good thing is that it arrived in 30 days. However when on the camping trip it was horrible to use. Under a moderate breeze (not wind, just continuous breeze), the burners would not stay lit. I needed to re light the grill 4 times while cooking steaks. Additionally, when the grill does work, it is not that hot. With the staying lit problems, it took 40 minutes to cook the steaks. When it stayed lit it takes 15-20 minutes to cook hamburgers. Using the griddle is useless. It took over 30 minutes to cook a package of bacon!

Its a nice size, light and a good idea, but it does not do its primary function well at all cook!!

Now I return from the trip with the desire to return it (Amazon is usually good about these things) but, since it arrived early, my return window is passed with Amazon! Now I have to keep this $250 piece of garbage! I can't even in good conscience sell it to someone on Craigslist or something it doesn't work!

I have had this grill for 3 years and I absolutely love it. It does everything that it says. I do have some complaints though (or it would have been 5 stars)..... 1. like most grills it has very hot hot spots 2. the flame can go out on windy days (have to keep checking). Otherwise I am very pleased with the grill I haven't found a better grill for games/camping at this price.

You can either use the skillet or place a pan directly on the grate. It's also fairly easy to clean and spray down after every use. The only negative is there is no cover so if you need to cover something you'll need to use foil or an aluminum tray upside down. One of the best tailgate grills I've come across.

Love it. I was impressed with the size and quality of this and the price is quite reasonable $22 (prime). The thickness of the metal is a good sturdy gauge material. The chimney (part you put the charcoal in) is a good size too...very close to the size as the Weber 7416 Rapidfire Chimney Starter...just a mm or two smaller diameter, which is a bit of a bummer, as I was hoping to be able to use my old Weber starter on top of this, but the diameter of the Weber starter is exactly same size as the burner base, so it's not very stable when you set it on this. Oh well...I might just bend/modify my old Weber starter chimney a bit to make it fit so I can use both during heavy grilling/smoking sessions.

Edited July 6, 2013 used it for the second time on the 4th of July, and the starter melted to the body/canister. Poor design. The starter assembly is all plastic, so it really needs to be shielded/insulated from the heat. And now that my Amazon return/exchange window is closed (ended July 5th), I'm stuck with this thing, and having to light it another way. I even went to the website listed on the box (www.maxbbqusa.com) but it's a fake website. I'll try to contact the seller (Jack's Tool Shed) and see if they want to make things right. I'm pretty disappointed. Buyer beware. I've added some photos of the melted starter.

For years I used a chimney with newspaper with mixed results. I have used this gas chimney all summer and I love it. Ten minutes from start to cook. Very reliable so far. I am still on my first gas canister after a whole summer of use.

This was a great buy. Every serious grill master should have one. No more fuss with newspaper, wet conditions, and wind. All I have to do is push the starter button and within a few minutes the coals are lit. I know there were negative reviews on the starter button melting but if you follow the directions it will not happen; once the coals are lit (again, no more than a few minutes) turn it off and remove the basket of coals.

This is only around $5 more than a standard chimney, but the quality is much better. Thicker steel, side air intake holes, nice handle, and a good heat shield.

Only downside, is the wire that goes from the sparker to the burner isn't very heavy nor shielded. The insulation burns off pretty much instantly. Still works, but I worry one day the sparker will stop working. Not a huge deal, but this is a product review. I would still buy it again no problem.
