I bought a small grill that did not have a temp gauge on it, so I purchase this and mounted it to my grill. It works great and my only suggestion was to get one that has a couple of mounting screws as on this on, there is threaded portion above the heat probe and that allows it to twist. I added a lock washer and tighten it up, still a little slippage, not a big problem

I received this as a gift for use with my Weber EP-330 natural gas grill. The first thing I tried was to prepare a smoked pulled pork dish. This requires using very low heat (under 250 degrees) for at least 8 hours. To get the wood chips to start smoking I turned the grill on high. Then, after a little smoke was being produced, I lowered the heat and put the meat on the grill. Only the burner next to the smoker box was left on at its lowest position. At first I was very disappointed and experienced the same results as some of the other reviewers as the wood stopped smoking after I lowered the heat. I left it alone and after about 1 1/2 hours the thing started smoking like crazy even with the low heat setting. I added more chips every hour for the next 3 hours to get more than 4 hours of smoke. The pork came out great. Perhaps I should have gotten the thing smoking full blast at the beginning before lowering the heat. Overall, I'm very pleased with this smoker, it's really easy to add chips as you're cooking.

I tried this out with ribs and little or no smoke. The box sits to the right of the far right flavorizer bar so it doesn't receive direct heat from the burner. wrapping chips in foil big enough to sit between the flavorizer bars works better.

Not worth it. No smoke. Sits too far from heat, especially when smoking at a low temperature, like when cooking ribs.

Honest reviews on Weber 7563 Genesis 300 Series Smoker Box - Stainless Steel Grate

The smoker does so as advertised but it burns the chips up very fast turned out I needed to put the chips inside aluminum foil then inside the smoke to make them last longer.

I cook ribs at 225F. This smoke box does not give any smoke. The box sits too far from the fire. I would not recommend it.

This CalFlame BBQ is well made and has everything you wish for in a BBQ. The description wasn't clear on whether it would come with a Natural Gas (NG) conversion kit (it didn't), delaying installation. Packaging could be improved. First item arrived damaged, but was replaced easily. Second item was dented, and unfortunately no replacement parts could be supplied by this vendor. They were helpful finding a solution with the manufacturer though. Great communication, and I highly recommend this vendor.

Best Big Green Egg Electric Starter Deals

Big Green Egg Electric Starter
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I use this beastie all of the time. It works in the cold of the Northeastern winter just as well as the Green Egg does. The cord is SHORT, like all of these electric starter brands seem to be, grumble, but this gets your charcoal going in a hurry. And it fits in the bowl of the Egg perfectly. Just like it is made to.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Been using the BGE electric starter for about 9 months now, probably 50 or more starts, still works great. The starter says to leave plugged in for 7 minutes, I always use a egg timer at 6 minutes or less, and have not had a problem. If you leave it plugged in too long you will burn it out, and be sure to remove it when you unplug it. I always store it inside the house, as outdoor humidity may shorten it's life. No need for the little starter stix anymore.

12/3/12 Well be using the starter for almost two years now and it still works great, as I stated earlier, keep an eye on the time its plugged in, and it will keep on working for you

Best Deals for Big Green Egg Electric Starter

Just got my second one last week. The first one only lasted three seasons. Do not recommend storing it in a garage, shed or any other place exposed to cold temperatures. Functions great! Gets lump charcoal going in less than eight minutes. Poor marks on longevity.

I'm on my third one in two years. They just don't last. They work fine for awhile and then just suddenly stop working.

I own a Weber S20 and my bars were rusted and cracked. So I bought these. These bars are more substantial than the original ones. They fit my grill and work great. I deduct 1 star for the sharp edges but otherwise, a great product.

Great product, fits perfectly, heats up very evenly. Please note that these are for the older Genesis grills that have the burners going side-to-side, not the newer ones that have them front-to-back.

Best Deals for Stainless Flavorizer Bars, Model 7540, 24.5" Set of 5 (16 Ga.)

I have a 6 year old Weber Genesis grill that has been the best grill I've ever owned. In those 6 years, averaging 1 cookout a week, the original metal Flavorizer bars lasted that entire time. I actually needed to replace these bars about 2 or 3 years ago, but I kept rotating them within the grill to get more miles out of them.

I was going to buy Weber Stainless Steel replacements, when I found these super thick stainless steel versions from RiversEdge. I've been so impressed with the quality of Weber products, I was very hesitant at replacing them with anything but genuine Weber products. But I'm so glad I bought these instead. I have no reference to compare these against the Weber version, but I am very impressed with the thickness and quality of these bars. Perfect fit too! I would be surprised if these Flavorizer bars don't outlast my grill.

Honest reviews on Stainless Flavorizer Bars, Model 7540, 24.5" Set of 5 (16 Ga.)

Noticeably thicker than the stock Weber bars and much cheaper! These things are really solid and should last a long time. I've been using mine for 4 months already and no signs of any corrosion.

I purchased this grill originally to use away from home, but ended up pulling it out this evening and using it on my back porch. I decided to video the grilling since I was curious how well it was going to work and in the end am so impressed with this purchase that I have to post the video along with my review. It was 40 degrees and windy today, only 2 days after Hurricane Sandy blew through PA and I was concerned that the grill would not generate enough heat to cook my ham steaks and sausages. However, this little charcoal grill performed above my expectations and is more than worth the price it cost. The briquettes ignited quickly and took 30 minutes to burn down to create a hot coal bed, which is reasonable time for charcoal grilling. The charcoal did smoke for 15 minutes during the initial burning, but this is typical of charcoal and the package even stated that the grill will smoke for about 15 minutes, so this was no surprise. Once the coals were hot and ready, I grilled 2, 6 oz. ham steaks and 4 pineapple rings and then flipped the ham and added 4 Italian sausages. I did put a foil shield around the back side of the grill since it was so windy, a tip that can be used with any type of grill. Everything I grilled was completely cooked in 45 minutes. The flavor of the grilled meat was delicious, the meat was moist, and my craving was satisfied! The clean-up could not have been easier. This is the perfect solution to portable grilling or having a charcoal grill on hand if you don't have storage space for a full-size grill and bags of charcoal. I will definitely purchase more of these disposable charcoal grills in the future and recommend them to friends and family!!!

This thing smoked like CRAZY for the first half an hour, and the smell was horrid. When I say smoked like crazy I mean you couldn't see through the smoke and I'm sure everybody on the block was wondering what in the heck the nasty smelling smoke was from. I can't believe I was foolish enough to put my food on it after the smoked dissipated... of course it made my food taste just like the awful smell. I can't even begin to describe the smell and taste; one thing is for sure: it wasn't real charcoal and didn't even have the slightest hint of real charcoal flavor. I ended up throwing my food in the trash and having to change my clothes and wash up just to rid myself of that putred smell. I don't know how in the world the other reviewers could even stomach it... it really makes me question their legitimacy on the review of this product. Seriously, they all have the same tailgate story to tell (and their writing styles are identical)... sounds fishy. Especially since if I would have tailgated with this thing somebody would have came and beat me up.

From a grill master: STAY AWAY FROM THESE! -Unless of course you like the taste of Larry The Cable Guys underwear (that's my best guess as to what they use for the "charcoal")

For years, I have used the biscuit type of briquettes and have had a hard time finding the right size for my grill. Seems like they were all too big, or the size of gravel. Decided to give these a shot and must say so far I'm impressed. Have used them three times and they heat up quickly and really do even out the temperature on the cooking surface. I mixed these in with some of my older briquettes for now but will eventually use these consistently when the older ones crumble. There's enough in a box to cover a very large cooking area. I like them.

Best Deals for GrillPro 43118 Ultimate Briquettes

These briquettes allow the transfer of heat from fire to cooking grill better than anything else that I have ever tried.

They control flare-up better too. In my opinion they are great.

Honest reviews on GrillPro 43118 Ultimate Briquettes

These are GREAT! I converted my gas grill with those steel "flavor boosters" to these. What a difference! I have more even heat through out the entire cooking surface. If the meat is fatty, I still get flare-ups, but I can live with that. Everything even tastes more like charcoal without all the fuss. The ONLY negative is the price. My brother found the exact same item at Menards for around $10 a box. This is the first time a bricks and motor store beat an Amazon price.

We bought and used this rotisserie to roast a 30lb lamb over Easter. It worked. But there are some issues with the spit:

1. The spit is a 7/8" hollow stainless pipe. After 5 hours of roasting our lamb we discovered afterwards that the spit had a bow in it.

2. Our 30 lb lamb was too long for this unit's 48" spit, though under it's weight limit (40 lbs.). We had to solder on a 12" piece of 3/4" copper pipe to accommodate the lamb. An equivalent 30 lb. suckling pig would be shorter, and probably would work. But lamb probably maxes out at 25 lbs, which at that weight hasn't got a lot of meat.

3. Balancing the load: Without proper balance the motor will have a very short life. When roasting whole animals, trying to get the beast on the spit is work enough, let alone trying to balance it. Therefore, a counter balance is commonly used to compensate. Spitjack emphasizes the importance of this in their manual. The catch is that Spitjack doesn't offer a counterbalance. Because Spitjack uses a proprietary 7/8" spit, there are no other counterbalances on the market that will fit. We improvised by attaching a pair of vice grips to the spine u-bolt, but this is hardly ideal.

4. As with the counterbalance, other standard rotisserie baskets or forks on the market will not fit this unit. Seems to me that Spitjack should offer a spit reduction coupler for the motor that would allow the user to utilize industry standard 5/16" or 1/2" spits. The user could then take advantage of the various rotisserie baskets and other accessories available on the market when roasting lighter fare. As it stands now, your only option is to use the forks they offer.

Another issue is the motor clip that goes around the tripod upright to keep the motor stationary and the spit turning. The clip does not fit tightly around the upright. There is about 3/8" of play and this means that the motor lurches against the upright with every rotation. We fixed this by wedging in a piece of wood, but this seems like very poor engineering to us.

The forks, thermometer, and trussing kit were all first rate. The tripods are in the el-cheapo category, but they worked and did the job.

We contacted Spitjack with our concerns and they promptly sent out a new 60" spit. They further stated that a counterbalance is "in the works". As for the ill fitting clip, they stated: "it is supposed to be that way to allow play in the motor. By allowing play in the motor in (sic) increases the life of the motor." This makes no sense to us, and when we asked for further clarification, we received none. So wedge the wood already and you'll be all set. As for a reduction coupler to use other accessories from other manufacturers on your new rotisserie motor, Spitjack politely suggested that we have our own manufactured...

So how to rate? At the heart of the deal is the motor. It had no trouble turning our 30 lb. lamb. But by far the bigger question is: How long will it last? We can not say based on our single test. Issues with the spit have been documented, and lastly we have the price point, which is quite good. We rate 4 stars. If and when a counterbalance becomes available, and with proven motor longevity, we'd be happy to come back and award 5 stars.

Worked as stated. I did 2 32 pound whole pigs, one at a time, the first didn't go so well. I didn't get it balanced very well. The second went great. I was happy with all of it except the picture showed a trussing needle and it didn't come with one. Over all it is great we are planning on roasting our turkey this year for thanks giving.

I always wanted a spit to cook outdoors. The CB35 I thought was a good size, its rated for up to 40lbs.

I received it on time paying for 2 day delivery. The spit itself is great heavy steel and the motor runs and wont quit. I was a little disappoint with the stands, not made with heavy steel as the spit.. I purchased a 33 lb hog and it was to big for the lenth of the spit

This BBQ fork is of high quality and works well. It is plenty long enough so that you don't burn your hand when using it. Great style and looks too. Dishwasher safe---or at least mine is. Would recommend.

This is one solid piece of metal, with no rivets, screws, or weld marks to collect food and debris. There is a black rubber insert under the handle to make it easier to grip. The hook on the end is the perfect length to flip down and hold the grip off the surface it is resting on.

The only downside is that barbecue forks are really not very useful, despite being included in almost every tool collection. Stabbing the meat while it is on the hot grill is a surefire way of releasing all of the moisture from the food.

I do have one of these, but I mainly use it to move my foil smoking packets off the charcoal. It works well for that.

This product is very sturdy and durrable. The light is bright and clean and focused. It's perfect for outdoor grilling, but also functions well as a light by which to read.

Best Deals for GZ 3In1 AP Grill Light

This grill light is priced well below a lot of similar lights, but is superior to most. I like it because not only does it have a magnet on the bottom of the base, but if there is no magnetic surface to stick it to, you can use the clamp to attach it. The clamp won't damage metal surfaces because both ends are rubber tipped and the part that unscrews has a pivot on it to adjust if both surfaces aren't parallel to each other. It claims to be water-proof, but I wouldn't leave it out in the rain on purpose.

Honest reviews on GZ 3In1 AP Grill Light

Great little light that attaches to anything metal with SUPER strong magnets but after a couple of months it was dead as water leaked into the casing and rusted all the contacts up making it inoperable. Either bring it inside in case of rain or don't bother. These all leak according to the other reviews on here I'm seeing.

I have a Weber Genesis 1000 BBQ. The flavorizer bars porcelain-coated metal were falling to pieces (literally !) so I decided to replace them. Found OEM porcelain-coated bars elsewhere on the web, but then I saw these stainless steel bars on Amazon, & decided they'd be more durable. The edges are a little sharp, but they're easy enough to handle. Others have noted that the plastic protective covering is hard to remove; not sure why they found it difficult -it took me about 5 minutes to do it for all 13 of the bars (maybe the manufacturer has changed things, to make removal easier?). Anyway, I installed them last night. They fit my BBQ perfectly. They radiate the BBQ heat very well, and they look as though they'll last a long time. Very satisfied. EDIT: After using the BBQ several times, I can attest that these are very effective. They radiate the heat well, and it's easier for me to keep a stable temperature for cooking, especially at lower temperatures (e.g., 250F).

These bars are much heavier and obviously of far batter quality than either the standard or the stainless versions by Weber. Put em in, they fit perfectly and work better than either of the two Weber sets I've had before. They are much thicker and much better grade of stainless than the Weber ones and are at lest 30% less expensive than the thin Weber replacement bars.

Best Deals for Stainless Flavorizer Bars, Model 7538, Set of 13 (16 Ga.)

The bars work as advertised and them are a good, heavy-duty material. I had no problem removing the pastic covering, but as others have noted, they are *very* sharp. Use caution.

Unfortunately, my experience with the seller was less than ideal. My order was missing an item when it arrived one of the long, bottom bars. I contacted the seller and they were very prompt and courteous, sent the replacement right away and even agreed to ship it to my Canadian residence even though the original order was shipped to the US. Unfortunately, when the replacement arrived, it was the incorrect item. The length is fine, but it's much taller than the others, meaning the upper bars don't sit level any more. It's usable, but not ideal. Ultimately, I can't recommend this seller; they seem to have some issues with their order-picking system.

Honest reviews on Stainless Flavorizer Bars, Model 7538, Set of 13 (16 Ga.)

August 25, 2013 Update: I have now used these for almost 3 years and they are still in great shape. I expect them to last as long as the Weber made ones. This is turning out to be an excellent value!

I bought my Weber in 1995. I think this is the 3rd time to replace the flavorizer bars. This is the first time to go with after market parts and not Weber.

The good: These after market Weber Flavorizer Bars are more heavy duty than those provided by Weber, and about 2/3 the price.

But... They have really sharp edges. You must be careful. The Weber bars are not sharp like this. Also, had to peel protective plastic off of each bar, there were 3 long strips on each, and most took a while to remove (remember the sharp edges). Finally, the bars are narrower than the Weber product. This means there is a larger gap between the installed bars. Not sure if this is a concern or not.

Overall good value for the money.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Stainless Flavorizer Bars, Model 7538, Set of 13 (16 Ga.)

Heavier gauge of these aftermarket bars does help retain more heat and allows the bbq to reach a higher heat than previous. Beneficial with our Weber BBQ which although we have loved its build quality and design, its lower BTU rating (15-20% lower than comparably sized/designed BBQ by other manufacturerssomething I did not pick up on at time of purchase and only realized upon first uses in cooler weather where we found the BBQ having a challenge reaching sear temperature.

Although I agree that these bars have sharp edges, basic common sense about handling any thin metal materials with gloves would have avoided the safety issues that have incorrectly marred some of the reviews of this fine product. These are not items that remain exposed or handled upon initial installation so I can fully understand why the manufacturer would not go to the time, effort and additional cost to grind/rile the edges. Would most likely double the cost of the product. Please people take some responsibility with respect to personal safety and don't always pass the blame.
