I have an 18" Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker. I found that I was using it less and less because it was so labor intensive to keep the fire going, and at a consistent low temperature for such items as pulled pork, ribs and brisket. I was constantly attending to it and could do little else during the cooking period but tend to the smoker. Even with all of that effort, I was not able to obtain consistent results. So, my son gave me the IQ for Christmas, and I just got around to trying it out. It is so simple to attach and use. Yesterday I cooked two 5 lb. chickens on the lower grate and three racks of St. Louis spareribs on the upper using this device. As per recommendation, I started with one chimney full of unlit charcoal along with a half chimney full of lit charcoal. The IQ quickly brought my smoker up to my setting of 225 degrees and maintained it effortlessly for the five hour cooking period. Both the ribs and the chickens were some of the most succulent barbecued meats I have tasted. This thing brought my outdoor cooking up to an entirely new level. This is an essential device for anyone cooking low and slow with charcoal. It receives my highest recommendation.

I have been using mine for the last year. I cant say enough good things about this little unit. I have it attached to my Weber Kettle for doing low and slow cooks for ribs, brisket and pork shoulder. Put your coals in and start them up with a weber or 3rd party ignition cube, make sure the vents are all closed and let the ique110 do the rest. This thing holds the temperature in my grill nice and steady for as long as I need to cook. No need for any water pans to help keep the temperature down or messing with vents.

I previously tried doing my low and slow cooking with the smokenator 1000 but i was constantly having to open the kettle to either put in more coal or more water and always opening the vents more or closing them. This helps reduce the amount of coals used during your cook which allows you to cook longer. I think the longest I have went before having to put more coals in with this is around 14 hours at 225 degrees.

Only suggestion I would make if you pick one of these up is to get a second probe with it. The sensor on this does not like going over 500 degrees and I left mine in when I switched over to doing burgers after cooking a pork shoulder and fried the probe. Then had to wait for a replacement to get shipped. Now I have two just in case one dies or I over heat the grill (though after that mistake I doubt I will leave it in the pit again)

I love this thing. I first saw Alton Brown use it on TV and since I had a Weber Kettle grill I bought one. I've used it twice on the Weber and the only thing I didn't like was it heated up when having to open the grill cover in order to spritz my ribs. I have since built a smoker with a seperate firebox so now I can open the cooking area and not fill the firebox with fresh oxygen which makes the fire go crazy. The smoke coming out of the firebox keeps the air from going down into it. Anyway this little item will honestly hold the temperature right where you set it and you can walk away. I have found that it is best to start the fire low with only a few charcoal briquets burning and let the unit bring it up to temp. If you start with a whole chimney of blazing hot charcoal it takes a lot longer to bring the temperature back down. I also use a temperature probe with a remote so I can monitor the temperature of the smoker and the meat from under a shade tree with an ice cold beer. Hey at least I can admit that I like to eat pig even if I am starting to resemble one. The smoker also makes top notch chicken and beef brisket. Highly recommended if you like to cook low and slow, as long as you have the patience to let the smoker do it's job over several hours.

I have two IQ110s and will have another by next BBQ season. I compete on the KCBS circut and use the 110 exclusively. It is a flawless performer and way less expensive than the alternatives. Using this device, I can cook a whole brisket on a Weber kettle grill with less than a half bag of charcoal. If you buy one, you won't be disappointed!

I was trying to decide between a Weber Smoky Mountain and a Weber One Touch Gold 26.5 and finding this accessory allowed me to buy the One Touch with confidence that I'd be able to smoke in it effectively. What a find.

So far I've smoked baby back, KC spare ribs, and pork butt in my One Touch Gold and didn't have to buy a purpose built smoker. With this purchase, I'm actually going to retire my gas grill entirely since I can now grill and smoke using the same kettle.

My temperature probe failed after just a few smokes (the IQ just started blinking green and red and the fan would never turn on). I emailed the manufacturer and they asked me to mail them back the temperature probe and after a couple of weeks (and a reminder email) I got a replacement.

It's back up and running again... hopefully this probe lasts longer than the original.

We live in a condo complex on a second floor with a large balcony. We are only allowed to have an Electric Grill. After reading many of the other reviews for the other Electric Grills, I choose Meco because I did consumer research.

Having the Grill this summer was a great gift. Food tastes wonderful, doesn't take up too much space, has 2 fold out flaps to store food and such. Heats up quickly, easy temperatures gauge.

As for cleaning, take the metal rack and rinse with ease. If cleaned quickly after use, like any pot or pan with hot water, stays completely perfect. If not grill residue does build up in the electric area that gives you the heat to grill, and if you wait to long to clean you will smell the burning of the old excess drippings. (I clean immediate without any issue the fiance although did not...)

We've enjoyed this grill for over a year and it works very well. We don't have a gas hookup on our balconey since we live in an older high-rise condo building, so we are forced to have electric. This grill is the best of all of them. We've had two Char-Broil grills and both pathetically died after a year. We also tried an electric grill from Home Depot that annoyingly never held a constant temperature. This grill is still going strong and we expect it to for years to come. The hinged door is a must as well as the wooden racks which are not offered with any of the other electric grills. This is our forth electric grill and by far the best.

After having this grill a couple of years, I'm downgrading the stars. It still works, but it isn't 5 star quality. Yet, there is not much to chose from in terms of electric grills and it does work well enough.

This is my second Meco Grill. I use the grill 2 or 3 times a week, year round. It is very sturdy and a high quality product. Most importantly this electric grill generates more heat than any electrick grill I have used before buying a Meco. The amount of heat generated is important for grilling delicious steaks, chops and chicken, that taste as good as if they were grilled over wood or charcoal It was not too dificult to assemble. Since it generates so much heat I found to extend it's life it was a good idea to line the interrior with heavv duty aluminum foil, to keep the grill clean. My previous Mecco grill lasted 6 years and was still useable. Another plus for this grill is the fact the heating element and control mechanism are easily replaceable and costs a mere $40. This is the only part that might wear out after a few years of heavy use. It was a steal at Amazon for $129 with free shipping. It is worth a lot more. Don't buy the model with a glass window, because it will turn black with soot from cooking and be useless.

The design of this grill leaves something to be desired. It is difficult to clean and the drip tray is a little aluminum loaf pan that is hard to insert into the holder without mangling it.

The electric burner has an aluminum pan under it which catches all the juices, grease, etc., which causes it to smoke heavily.

The rotissery works pretty good. My last one was a CharBroil and it was far superior to this one.

Barbecue is good but controlling the heat from charcoals can be tricky. I've been trying to master the art for years, and with this product it makes it a lot easier to indirectly cook larger portions of meat. Also helps to controll the range of cooking you desire, on one side of the grill you can have less charcoal burning for things like hot dogs, and thinner portions of meat, that don't require intense heat, and on the other end you can put more charcoals for things like chicken breasts and steak. Has a suffiecient capacity but could hold more and is why I gave it 4 stars. Other than that I love the fuel holders it makes placement and clean-up of charcoal a breeze and it gets the job done.

If you need to do indirect cooking, or you want to cook various kinds of food that require different temperatures (veggies and meat), then these are great for creating different heat zones in your grill. Other than that, the only other thing they're good for is keeping your charcoal in one place if you push the two units together into the center or side of your grill.

I like these more than wire-framed models because these seem to direct more heat upwards, instead of letting it radiate out to the sides.

I was reluctant to purchase these charcoal holders at first, mainly due to the cost and fear they would be cheaply constructed. Up to now I have been using inexpensive wire holders that are functional but not great. I was very pleasantly surprised when I purchased these Weber basket charcoal holders. They are solidly built, large in size (designed for 22-1/2" grills), and well worth the cost. Charcoal seems to heat up more rapidly in them, ash drops easily from the bottom, and you can empty the baskets easily after the coals have cooled. There is plenty of space between the baskets to put a foil pan with water to keep foods moist during indirect cooking.

If you like to barbecue foods by the indirect method, these basket charcoal holders are perfect. I would buy them again in a second (although they will probably last for a very long time).

The fuel holders really aren't necessary because you can just push the charcoal to the sides or around the grate. But the upside is that they keep the charcoal stacked tighter for indirect cooking which gives you more cooking space. The holders themselves are larger than they look in the picture and each one can hold well over 25+ briquettes. Also you can light the charcoal in the holders if you like. They stack for easy storage and are quite sturdy.

I use these every time I grill food. I often do indirect cooking (pork ribs come out perfect at 300 degrees for 2.5 hours) and they allow you to fine-tune the temperature under the meat when necessary without fumbling with loose coals. Have had no trouble with melting, warping, or rusting over the course of a year.

Appeared to be an exact replacement, but turned out to be about 1/4 in. short for Sunbeam Grill Master. Tweaked it with a rubber hammer to get it to fit. Over all pretty good.

We'vehad this grill for about 10 years or so and we just couldn't come up with the 300 dollars for a nice new grill.

The old plate had rusted in half last year and was joined together with a piece of sheet metal and fastened with rivets. The sheet metal gave way when the rusted halves deterioated. Well to make the story short, i measured the width of the grill and found this heat plate would work. Planning on getting a new burner soon. The current one, twice replaced, is getting bad now. Just remember to measure and find model numbers when ordering parts for anything

I purchased this grill directly from Hasty Bake in Tulsa, OK. The staff is friendly and available to answer questions. I was skeptical about the grill and the performance, but have been very pleased. The ability to raise and lower the firebox is a great feature and I am making the best steaks. I typically steam veggie and cook a steak every Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine. I have thoroughly enjoyed this grill. The only two complaints I have is the paint peeling on the inside and amount of time it takes for the grill to cool down. After about 5 uses, the paint had peeled from the door and the rear of the firebox area. I already see rust forming where the paint is gone. For the price, I did not plan to scrape and repair the grill so soon after the purchase. Maybe should have gone with the all stainless. Second, when I am done and I close all of the vents and lower the firebox, it takes a while for the coals to burn out. Typically, only ash is left. I was hoping when all of the vents were shut, the fire would go out prior to the coals burning out... preserve the coals for the next use. The upside is, it does not take many coals to maintain a consistent heat for extended periods of time. At least I am not wasting too much. Aside for these two things, I am very happy.

I have used this rotisserie kit at least 10 times since I have bought it and have had no issues at all with it.

Meat forks: The forks that come with the unit are sharp as can be a hold food perfectly.

Counterbalance: The counterbalance they give you does the trick perfectly so your food spins at an even speed the entire cooking time.

Cleaning: Easy.

Setup: This takes a bit of time each time you want to cook but once it is set, you don't need to even worry about it. When I cook a small chicken I set the temperate at about medium and leave it for 45-50 minutes and it is ready to go. The chickens turn out to be very juicy and tender!

What is really nice about cooking on the M485 is that you can put a tray under the chicken (or whatever food you are cooking) to catch all the drippings so your grill is extremely dirty the next time you cook. Plus since you are using your rear burner, you don't need to worry about flair ups or anything like that.

I also recommend trying a pinapple on the rotisserie. You cut each side off the pinapple and put it on the rotis kit and cook it. Near the end, you put some maple syrup or honey on the pinapple and it is very tasty. I hope you upload a picture to show you. Enjoy!

We love to grill vegetables. Had an old non-stick type pan, but it got rusted thru and was unsafe to use. I finally settled on this Grill Pan. Frankly it is the best twenty bucks I spent.

The stainless steel will discolor if heated too much, but cleaning is not too bad. The first time I used it without oiling the pan, cleaning needed quite a bit of scrubbing. I ended up using oven cleaner (Easy Off) and it worked pretty well got all the crud off. I now oil the pan before putting it on the grill and clean up is not bad. The advantage of stainless steel is that with a bit of care it will give good service and there is nothing to flake off.

I also bought the veggie basket and use both interchangeably. The lips all around are great, I just use a spatula to lift the veggies to a serving dish.

LOVE: Quality of construction; Cost; Raised lips all around; Material

HATE: Cleanup is tough, but it is no tougher than with so called non-stick pans had one.

Would I recommend it definitely; I plan to replace mine with a similar one when this one goes (or I get tired of it)

Gets a 4 star since it is hard to clean grilled on residue. The openings mean that food like fish do not slip between the grates of the grill. Heats evenly in accordance with your grill. Only downside is we have to let it soak to get residue off. Non-stick would be better.

I got this to grill veggies and other smaller stuff that might fell through the grates on my gas grill.

After the first couple of uses (and subsequently leaving the pan on the grill for a few days without cleaning it), I noticed some brown discoloration that looked like rust on the surface.

I'm still not sure if it was rust or not, but I got the pan hot and sprayed it with olive oil and wiped it down with some paper towels. That got rid of the rust color and it hasn't come back.

Now the pan is a nice dark brown color, and I just spray with oil and clean it with the brush before use. It stays on the grill or under the grill when not in use.

Other than that, it works as a pan should. Stuff cooks when you put it on there, and it doesn't stick as long as you oil it at a higher temperature than you cook at.

The first thing you'll notice about this product is that the price seems remarkably fair given the quality.

This is truly grilling made easy you can throw anything on this pan and you're good to go: veggies, baked potatoes, flakey fish.

I agree with the other reviewer about cleanup being a little tough, but truly it is no tougher than all the other stainless steel cookware we use it's all a PITA but worth it in the long run.
