When I bought my Kamado cooker made by Grill Dome, the company made it sound like one could do anything on their grill/smoker/oven with the accessories they sold. After many burnt pizzas, I learned my lesson about Grill Dome. It is not that I am a pizza grilling novice. I had grilled many pizzas on my old 22.5" Weber grill. I built a banked fire of a certain size and was able to manipulate the heat that way. With a Kamdo grill heat manuipulation is (as I found out) a lot trickier. I tried tweaking the cooking of the pizza many ways. The last thing I did was to put a pizza stone on the grill and the pizza on a grill extender above the stone. I think with this configuration the pizza burnt the fastest and was completed inedible.

Almost fed up and wanting to return my Grill Dome, I did a Google search to find a way to avoid burning/cooking pizzas on a Kamado grill, I came across the Kamado Joe Heat deflector. Simply, it works. Smoked a chicken on Thursday, made a pizza on Friday, both came out great (I used the Kamado Joe Pizza stone, mine old stone was ruined during my last attempt at grilling a pizza).

I highly recommend this product for any one with a Kamado grill. Fits 18" diameter grills.

This is a must have item for your Kamado Joe grill, or other Kamado style grill. Quality of item is first notch. The various configurations allow you to use the heat deflector in low position, or high position, or you can use the frame only to elevate your cooking grate further from the charcoal.

This heat deflector or "plate setter" is quite the ingenious product. It can be place low or high inside the grill to create different grilling experiences. The frame can also be used alone to simply raise the grill surface in the dome. The frame is stainless steel, and the plate appears to be some sort of high density/high temperature ceramic. It works well, and I am very pleased with it.

Great price and value. I had toyed with the idea of getting the actual BGE version of the heat deflector but chose this one due to price. Has worked great and fits nicely in the Large BGE
