This part is pretty rediculous to have to over-pay for separately from the already pricey thermometer. I had to buy 2 of these kits for 20$ because I couldnt find them at Home Depot or OSH and didnt have time to keep looking before the big party.

This is apparently not a standard nut, I went to ACE Hardware and the guy said it was a pipe thread and is called a 2 1/2 inch Jam Nut. I was there 5 minutes and bought the parts i needed for $3.90. Its possible other hardware stores have it, the people I spoke with at HD and OSH couldnt tell me what type of nut I needed, ACE is the place I guess.

I still have to wait a few days for the parts to arrive, waiting...

Dont know if the thread on the thermometer is odd or not so I bought this just in case. Did great. You probably could find a similar thread nut and lock washer to work, this one does the trick though.

I had ended up driving the hole to big for the thermometer but I was able to buy some washers to compensate for this problem. It works out great.

I was assuming this was a mount to install in a device to then install the thermometer into.

I got this thermometer to install into my refrigerator smoker door that is around 4" thick

I could not use it since it is nice stainless steel and I have not got a TIG welder.

this is just to thread onto the back of the thermometer to hold it into a thin gauge panel like a BBQ lid

it is just a fancy nut and washer
