We purchased this "beer chicken" rack for our son who loves cooking on his grill. We could not find one we had purchased last year, but were very pleased to find this product. Don't limit yourself to the charcoal grill. We purchased this for a gas grill and it is great. The beverage container comes off easily. The tray gives you the ability to simultaneously grill some vegetables/potatoes. Don't limit yourself to beer; be creative with wines and broths for your liquid in the container. And don't forget those yummy fresh herbs under the skin. Best juicy chicken you'll ever eat!

I purchased this particular rack after researching many others. I chose this one for several reasons. I thought the large pan bottom would provide a solid foundation in my grill for a big bird and I liked the fact that I could let the drippings fall through the bottom for more smoke in my grill, OR I could cover the bottom in foil to collect the drippings if I needed to them for an accompanying recipe. I also selected this one because I preferred to place the liquid (beer, Pepsi, whatever) in something other than a painted can. I also liked this rack because it was stainless steel (no rusting) and the cup is removable for easy cleaning.

My experience thus far has proven this to be the ideal rack for me. It gets four stars for two reasons. The small tab that secures the cup to the bottom pan easily snapped off on the first such rack I got, even before I cooked with it. A close examination revealed the tab was poorly attached to the bottom of the cup. Amazon quickly replaced the faulty rack, and I have babied my replacement rack so it will not break. Also, when trying to place the raw bird over the cup, the cup easily detaches, making the reattachment a three handed job. With a little practice I feel certain I can overcome this issue.

This rack cleans up easily with a little help from a stainless steel (SOS) scouring pad. If you buy one of these, I suggest inserting the cup to the bottom, and give it a gentle wiggle to be sure the attachment tab is well secured to the bottom of the cup. I would recommend this item to others with the above reservations considered.
