I used the new probes as soon as I received them, smoked a pork butt for pulled pork.

They are not as prone to curling up as the originals, but they are no way 3 feet long,

just a hair over 30 inches. They worked fine on the smoker but it appears they would be

difficult to use in the oven because of their length; the Maverick would have to be placed

on the stove top and would be in the way if you wanted to use the burners. Didn't have

that problem with the originals, they're 42 inches long.

The original device doesn't cost as much as this is being advertised for. Don't be fooled. Find it for $12 at maverick industries home page.

You ever buy something and after using it wonder,"who designs this #*&^($%. Have gone through two probes in short order. They seemingly can not be exposed to the heat of a barbecue grill, can not be washed with water, can not be outdoors if it's raining. I believe this device is intended for outdoor barbecuing ??!! Knowing what I know now, I'd say stay away from this one.

Third time I used it, it stopped working. The original probe I bought last summer. Previously, I had used a cheap one from Walmart and that lasted 2 Years...for six bucks. Compare that to the $50 + I have invested in the Maverick in 9 months time...I'll buy a dozen cheapos instead.

Like you, I needed replacement probes...I purchased some a few years ago and they lasted fine. I ignored the feedback, bought these and enjoyed my two new probes for about five minutes on the grill. Bummer. Seller is taking them back, kudos to them.
