It's very large and sturdy. Very sturdy. Mine came with a dent in the mesh but that was easily fixed. Not broken anywhere. I got this to use as a cat litter sifter and it works great for that. The long strong handle keeps me from having to bend over as far as I used to have to so I am very happy with how it's working for that. It would work well for cooking also, as long as you are working with commercial sized cookware. It would be overkill for normal application. I want one just like it, but smaller, for home cooking.
