I bought this product for my husband for father's day and it is awesome, he used to always get grease and food drippings all over the deck. Not anymore! I had bought a cheaper plastic version that stuck to my deck and made the deck worse than the grease drippings, but this item is the real deal, well worth the money! Blocks all the drippings, heavy duty and doesn't melt on my deck! I have recommended to all my friends.

We have one of these at our summer home, and it has held up being outside year round for 10 years. We purchased this when we redid our deck with composite decking. It is sturdy, large enough to protect the deck, and unobtrusive in use.

It got a hole in the center that was closest to the heat source, when it was picked up it fell apart. What a waste of money to protect a wood deck!

I purchased this item from Amazon and placed under my grill on my New IPE (ironwood) tropical wood deck last week.

It rained a little the next day I remember. My wife and I decided to move the grill to another location and we were shocked that under the mat the deck wood was greatly discolored and unevenly blotched. Ipe is almost indestructable but somehow the material on the bottom of this pad had reacted with the water to cause the major surface discoloration on the deck.

planks. If you know anything about hardwood decking like ipe they gradually lose their rich color and have to be oiled

again to get the rich color back. It looked like somehow this pad had caused the oils in the wood to come to the surface

and make the color dark but uneven and blotchy. I am hoping now that over the winter this discoloration will fade back to

more closely match the rest of my deck. I will let you know about that next spring. In the meantime on searching I found that this company has a small disclaimer under their Q&A section for tropical woods that states " Not for IPE decks".

I am very disappointed that there was no mention of this issue on the amazon description for this item.

Therefore I am writing this so that if you do have an IPE (not sure what it does to other tropical wood decks but I would not take the chance if I were you) deck. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. Here is the link to the warning:

This product is currently tough to find could not get in an alternative color. The truth is it is fine and appears of similar consistency to the ones I picked up at Home Depot were not bad. The weather takes a toll and then it gets grease on it (better on it than the deck of course) but we will see how this one performs
