I received 2 separate shipments of this item (Charcoal Companion Magnetic Flexible Mini Grill Light) and both times the light was defective.

The instructions appear easy and straight-forward but there is something intrinsicly wrong with this product OR perhaps I was very unlucky and received the 2/10000 defective products.

The batteries did not fit as instructed and there seemed to be no contact between the cells. The lid closed with difficulty and then there was no light.

I have now returned both and will not be purchasing this product or any similar ones.

I am an avid amazon buyer and this is the first time I have had to write a negative review for a product.

I' the owner of , a smoked meats and grilling recipe site. I do allot of cooking and in allot of cases from sun up to late in the evening. My porch light is not located close enough to my pit and I often ended up trying to mop my meats with sauces or season them in the dark or try and hold a flash light. Both of these options were not working out. I looked all over for something small and bright. There are allot of clamp on models and lights of much larger size. I don't want to hassle with a desk lamp sized light. It's more to get in the way. This unit is inexpensive, durable and very bright. It can be carried in your pocket and pulled out and attached as needed. It's held in place by a strong magnet and I think it works out great. See my full review with pictures on my site. Sadly, I could not get this thing to work when I first got it. It took a couple of days of futzing & bending the spring to get it to come on. Then, when it finally did light up, it was nowhere near bright enough to cook by. You get what you pay for, I guess.

This flashlight has done everything I needed it to do, It worked for grilling on the BBQ, fixing things, and just looking for things. The magnet is perfect for the BBQ and working on your car. Of course not everything you work on has a place for a magnet, but, if it does, this will work perfectly
