Got this yesterday. Had it for maybe 30 minutes before it cracked down the middle stirring grains in a pot (home brewing beer). The wood is super lightweight which would be great if the product wasn't designed to stir things in a pot...which it should be. Now I have $15 worth of kindling. Look elsewhere and get a stronger paddle if you want to stir anything but water. Buyer beware.

I'm very disappointed in the quality of this item. The paddle had loose knots and splinters. I guess you get what you pay for. If you want a quality paddle look elsewhere.
Best Deals for Bayou Classic Cajun Stir Paddle
I got this stir paddle to use for a pretty good sized boil for about 16 people over Memorial day weekend. Upon receiving it, all edges were smooth and the wood seemed of good quality, though soft. Which leads to a couple "issues": Is there a cooking paddle made of hard wood out there? I'm not willing to seal this...it's used for cooking. Will it eventually become saturated with seasoning and cross-flavor the next cook? Regardless, it's a great product that's cheap enough to buy a few and replenish when necessary. If you like to do low country boils or big pot cooking, this is a fabulous tool that is fun to use.

Yes, it is "just a piece of wood" and yes, I could have made one that was more of an art piece or made of exotic hard wood, but come on, I am just stirring a pot of crayfish, and comparing the cost (reasonable) to the cost (very reasonable) of a pine or doug fir 2x4 is not a fair comparison time is money and hard wood is expensive! This does the job well and was reasonably priced.
