We've used it twice so far in our Weber Q300 grill. We fill the tube to about 2/3 capacity with Weber Mesquite Wood Chips and then soak the tube in a bucket of water overnight. The tube makes direct contact with the Q300 (outer) burner and does not block the flame. The smell of smoke is detectable about 5 minutes after insertion in the fully-heated grill. The smoke-flavor is mild given the brief cook-time, but the aroma lingers on the prepared food. I would highly recommend this item if you miss the smell of real wood smoke in your grilled food.
August 1, 2011 Update Design Change?
It appears that they have changed the design to a rectangular rather than tubular shaped body. I like my tubular unit, but I would imagine this one works as well. The tubular unit has all its perforations along one side which, in my opinion, helps to retain the water absorbed into the wood chips for better smoke production.

The smoker tube I received measures 1.8" x 6" x 1.8", versus the advertised Product Dimensions: 4 x 10.5 x 1.8 inches. My guess is the product dimensions listed are actually the dimensions of the packaging, not the smoker tube.
