I had my doubts about this product based on the picture. I couldn't figure out how the flat paddle could do a proper job of scraping food off the grill grates. But once I read the directions, it all made sense. You're supposed to scrape the paddle on a really hot grill to build grooves into the end of the paddle which match up your grill grates perfectly. It takes just 5 minutes to do (10 minutes if your grill takes a while to get up to temperature), and it creates perfect grooves which do a great job of scraping the sides of the grates as well as the top. The size of the paddle makes it very easy to put lots of pressure and get good scraping action. On my Weber E-330, this paddle is the perfect cleaning tool after every grilling session.

I didn't like the product, it's ok scraping the top of the grates, but it doesn't get to the sides of the grates, leaving the grill dirty. We were looking for an alternative to the wire grill brush due to the large amount of health scares with the wire brush, and this is not the answer!

My heart sunk when I saw the metal bristle that had lodged in my toddler's gums as she ate a hot dog I had BBQ'd. I had heard rumors about metal BBQ bristles being ingested but didn't think it would happen to us. She was ok, but I swore I would NEVER use a metal brush again and this thing delivers on what it promised to do so that I don't have to worry anymore. Worth every penny.

There is no question that the Woody Paddle works better than all of the alternatives out there. It cleans better, more quickly, and without damaging the grill grate. This means I don't have to waste a lot of time cleaning my grill before and after each use (which, without the Woody Paddle, used to be necessary to keep the grill halfway clean). Once the grooves are created in the Woody Paddle there is simply no quicker way to clean the grill. And, not having to buy new porcelain grates (because cleaning it with the Woody Paddle doesn't harm it) is awesome. All in all, a great product. And, because the Woody Paddle is so effective and easy to use, I actually use it (unlike other products I have tried that just end up sitting by the grill)! Because my grill is clean, cooking is easier and the food turns out perfect every time.
