I couldn't decide whether to overhaul my old Weber Genesis, or breakdown and buy a fancy new one. I researched several sites about Weber repairs and shopped for replacement parts. This replacement tube set is not an exact copy, but close enough. The instructions are pretty straight forward, but YouTube has a bunch of "how to" videos, in case you can't follow the printed instructions.

I'm definitely pleased with the function of the replacement tubs; nice, even, and hot flames, at a fraction of the price of genuine Weber parts. These parts are going to fail with use, so these were perfect.

This replacement didn't fit my grill. I modified it by cutting, but it was not the right size. I would make sure you check other reviews of people with the same type of grill including years, because the info is not correct.

I love Amazon and shop here for many items. Overall, I've been at least satisfied, usually thrilled with my purchases. I read reviews, but sadly, haven't posted any for your benefit. That changes now.

Buy REAL Weber burners! Don't be the cheapskate I was. My burners worked, I just decided to upgrade from piezo to electric ignition. Figured I'd replace my 10+ yr old burners while there. They were different, but fit great.

With the old burners, if i got distracted for 5 minutes, the grill would preheat to "panic" temps, burying the thermometer. These, in 20 mins, barely break 500f, and won't go higher. YES, I did adjust the dampers for mix, they were way off. These have tiny holes, where the orig ones had big slots. The crossover tubes are different, burners 2 & 3 take forever to light, kinda scary. I wish I'd stopped when i saw the difference, and sent them BACK. I DAMAGED the old ones removing them, but I will be replacing them with REAL webers. What a waste.

I gave them a 2nd star because they did fit.

If your grill is totally trashed and you only have $30, after a pack of hot dogs and buns, buy these, they do heat. If you're like me and love the way your Weber sears a t-bone, buy the real thing.

The item does fit and does work ok. In hindsight I should've ordered from an original part as this isn't an exact match. But I guess for a 15 year old grill, I'm just buying time.

This is a terrific buy. It was more than half of the cost of the OEM replacement. I wasn't sure if that was going to be a good thing. Especially these days. You almost always get what you pay for. But, after handling and installing this replacement unit, I am really impressed. Not a single issue with it. The burners was perfectly machined, heavy duty, good welds, and no roughly milled areas. I was actually kind of sad when I had to cover it up with the flavor bars and grates.

Don't hesitate... these are a terrific value.

I hardly ever make my purchase without some reviews. I didn't on the hardwood, so now here is a review. Purchased two bags..... what I got was not as pictured. Came in two separate boxes, one badly torn and taped up the other o.k. Size 37 in. x 21 in.x3 1/2.Poor packing. The wood was in a simple thin clear plastic bag. One bag was old and breaking open with the wood more like kindling, not chunks. Could only salvage about six pieces, the rest in trash! Now the other o.k. box had the same plastic bag but looked much newer, not torn and the wood was "acceptable" fair sized chunks with a few small pieces. This I can use. Srangely the order seemed to come from two diferent places, as the E-mail was in two separate orders?? Final opinion.. I will not order wood from this seller as half the order was useless. Repeat: not as pictured. The good news is Amazon will make it right..... Thanks Amazon

In using this I discovered a really useful trick. I found at first that it took more than 15 seconds to record the final accurate reading. However, if you DO NOT turn on the thermometer until you have inserted it in the meat, it will pick up the food temperature immediately and crawl up quickly. If you don't do that, the thermometer will start with the room temperature and take a longer time to reach the final food temperature reading. A super little device I am thrilled with it!

This thermometer is amazing! Hear my story. I used it on some Cornish Game Hens on the BBQ, and it worked perfectly.They turned out perfect.

The during the next week my son came by the house and put the roast in the oven for me. Nice of him. I bet you can guess what happened. Yep, he grabbed the "new, pretty" one from the drawer. That's not the amazing part.

When I got home I smelled the melting plastic, and rescued the thermometer. It is rather a sad shape now, kinda lopsided.

The amazing part: It still works on the BBQ! I thought it was a gonner, but that battery didn't seem to be affected.I have to recommend this!

I'm really pleased with this digital food thermometer. It shows the temperature very quickly and I like the large display. This thermometer is very easy to clean and I like that it comes with a case to keep it protected. So far I've made chicken thighs and steak using it and they both came out cooked to perfection.

I bought these to move charcoal coals, but found the tong tips aren't well suited to this task. The spring action is stronger than it needs to be. I think they'd be OK for handling food on a grill, but I already have tongs better suited for that. So, I just use these to move the charcoal around after I dump it from a lighting chimney.

A friend had this grill and made chicken thighs on it. They were to die for! I had to have one and ordered it within days. There is a learning curve in using it. I have tried salmon, chicken, pork ribs, and beef on it. Everything has been good and it is getting better the more I use it. The things to learn are the cooking and smoking times and marinating and cooking sauces. There are things that seem better if they are smoked for a while and then cooked. Of course, timing is the key. It did come with a cook book and this has been a great help.

Unlike normal BBQ grills, there are some things that can be cooked with sauce on them. As the temperatures are lower than traditional grills, the sauce normally doesn't burn.

The grill itself is very well made. Assembly is straight forward and it is very sturdy. I would buy it again and recommend it without reservation.

If you want a smoker that is convenient, affordable, and not too big, then the junior is for you. You will get the same results as the larger more expensive pellet grills but in a much smaller size. The junior is large enough to smoke a whole turkey, fit a large pizza (take and bake pizzas come out amazing!!!), or anything you can think of.

The only drawback to the junior over its larger brothers is the size of the pellet hopper. The hopper is intentionally smaller than it needs to be, probably as an incentive to buy a larger more expensive Traeger. You can expect six hours or so of smoke time before having to add more pellets. It is not too difficult to extend the hopper using sheet metal from the local hardware store (thin gauge from the project center for $12). With that done I can smoke for 16 hours without refilling the hopper, set it and forget it!

As a smoker the junior excels, everything comes out amazing. As a grill, the junior works very well but it takes longer than a propane or charcoal grill. Cooking burgers for example can take 30 minutes or more, but they are fantastic, like nothing you have ever had! I use my junior almost everyday. Sometimes several times a day. It will make the best baked potato you have ever had. Try an apple pie, corn bread, smoked salmon, vegetables, jerky, anything you can imagine. Just read and follow the simple directions, and the included cookbook is a nice surprise.

UPDATE:

We've used the Jr for a couple of months now. We've gone through 2 bags of pellets. In order to use the Traeger, we had to replace the switch with a custom on/off/fan only configuration. This allows you to switch to fan for the last 10 minute cool down/burn out. We got the idea from another commenter that claimed the bigger Traegers have this system. This puts the fan on the pot so that any unburned pellets finish burning, turn to ash, and blow away from the auger. This keeps it from burning backward into the hopper.

I'm giving this a 1 star because Traeger should be ashamed of themselves for not including this configuration in the first place. Otherwise you are almost guaranteed a backburn into the hopper if you cook for an hour and then turn it off. Yep, that happened again as my son didn't realize you had to turn to fan and as the backburn starts, you can't stop it easily. We really hate this BBQ.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

We got one from a local store about a month ago. Since then we cook about 2-3 times a week on it: whole chicken (small), steak, baked potato, chicken breast, hamburger, asparagus, skewer-less kabob, etc. I would return the darn thing if the food didn't turn out sooo good.

Now for the bad bits. The hopper is constantly hanging up the pellets so that if you don't check the hopper every 10 minutes (and keep it filled to the top), your food stops cooking. We think this is a serious design flaw. I don't know how people are expected to smoke up to 10 hours on the thing.

The second problem is that the fire pot is so small that you end up plugging it up causing the pellets to catch on fire inside the auger. So we have to vacuum it out every single time after we use it (after it has cooled). This is a serious "hands on" grill. After 10 years with my $89 crappy Charbroil that required cleaning 1 time a year, it's a bit of a let down.

The third problem is that the pellets are expensive ($12-$19 per bag depending on where you get them) and we go through a bag in about a month. Before, I purchased $9 of gas for most of a whole year (we grill year round).

The fourth problem is that actual start up time is pretty long. You have to set it to smoke for 4 minutes and then set to high for 10 minutes to get it hot. If there is a feed problem, you have to wait to cool (10 minutes?), clean it, then start the process again. We've had this issue 2 out of 10 times so far with food on the grill not finished. You avoid this by vacuuming the darn thing each and every time.

When it works its great, unfortunately it's unreliable and fails as often as it works. Three out of eight times I used it the combustion unit failed to light the pellets but the hooper kept feeding the pellets resulting in unlit pellets overflowing into the body of the unit.

Traeger support was helpful, but the advise was always the same turn off the unit, empty the hooper combustion chamber, restart the unit and cook as normal this is a messy task.

There's nothing worse than returning home to uncooked ribs due to the unit failing. Like I said it's great when it works, but it's completely unreliable.
