It worked for about 30 days. Now when I turn it on it reads "LLLL." I am pretty sure that is not the temperature of everything. Since the Amazon Return policy doesn't allow return of defective merchandise if it works for 30 days, I am stuck with this useless LLLL device.

I have used this meat thermometer for a couple of months, and have had no trouble with an LLLL reading, like the other commenter. I would think that the battery needed to be replaced if the thermometer was frequently used or put away while still "on." I am happy with the simplicity of this thermometer, with a lit screen and large numbers I can read it clearly in the dark. I am now able to cook steaks and chicken etc. with a better idea of how well-done or rare my steaks will be. I like the small case with the clip, I leave it clipped near my grill so I always have it when I need it.
