I purchased because my other combination bbq fork / thermometer / timer took a long time to show the actual temperature when poking the meat. This thermometer measures the temperature of the air in the bbq pit case, so it goes way up, then you have to wait for it to come down to the meat temperature when you lift the lid. I will try pushing the sensor farther into the meat next time...
