The gasket here was priced very competitively, particularly when the spray adhesive was included. Removing the old gasket was easy, but would recommend having a putty knife or some other scraping mechanism to fully remove the old pieces, and then some Goo Gone to clean the residue. Fortunately most of mine was burnt to oblivion so was pretty easy to remove!
Installing the new gasket was a piece of cake. I did remove the lid for simplicity, followed the instructions and within 5 minutes had a new gasket installed. I've taken the temp up to 750 since installing the new one and absolutely no issues so far.
Purchase with confidence and enjoy, from a fellow Egger!

The first time I tried searing steaks on my BGE at 800 degrees, they turned out great (though I finished them on the upper deck of the adjustable rig w/ a fire brick underneath so they aren't searing at direct high heat the entire time), but my stock felt gasket all but disintegrated. I called BGE customer service and they recommended their nomex gasket along w/ 3M Super 77.Installation was fairly easy, the hardest part is making sure you scrape as much of the existing adhesive off to get a clean service to adhere to (acetone or 3M adhesive remove and a razor blade helps here). Then spray on the Super 77, slowly and carefully stick on the nomex gasket (even though it's a straight piece of material it follows the circular egg quite easily) while pressing it down, then close the egg for about 24 hours for the adhesive to dry.
Performance has been very good I've cooked w/ this nomex ring a couple of times and I'm pretty confident it will last quite a long time, unlike the original gasket. I wouldn't be surprised if the folks at BGE eventually add this as standard on all BGEs at some point in the future it really is a necessary upgrade.
Now, for the caveat? Pssst, if you go to the Big Green Egg website, look up their customer service number (or email), and contact them explaining that your original gasket burned off they will probably send you one of these nomex gaskets for free (as they should). There's no need to pay for this. You do need to buy the adhesive (I strongly recommend the 3M Super 77 included here), but that can be purchased individually on Amazon for far less than this combo deal.
5 stars for the product just don't buy it here when you can get it for free.

This gasket for the BGE is much better than the felt one that comes with the grill. This one holds up alot better under high heat. Its easy to apply just like the original one, but you do have to apply the glue, but it is really easy. I sprayed both the grill and the nomex ring and let them site for a couple of minutes so it would get tacky. I have had my frill up to 650 a few times after applying and not a problem to date.Honest reviews on Tasty Licks BBQ Nomex Hi-temp Gasket Kit for Big Green Egg Large
