Yeah shows how much of a life I have, reviewing wood chips but hey money doesn't grow on trees and a little feedback on any product helps right. Just used a handful of these in the Old Smokey to do some ribs and jerky, these were perfect, not near as strong as using hickory and has little more flavor than using apple or maple. Shipping was fast as well.Perfect for doing beef and pork, have to try it on deer next.

Upon beginning the soaking in water I noticed the water color changed to the color of a nice whiskey... I was intrigued. After a 3 hour soak, I fired up the grill and put some into my smoker box. My guests kept asking what in the heck I was cooking that smelled like whiskey. I was slow cooking beef ribs and the flavor/smell that these chips imparted was absolutely wonderful. Not overpowering, but just noticeable. Will be buying more.

Good hard oak wood chips for smoking tri-tip roasts. They are long lasting and economical. This is my second bag, and I will by them again.

I am not a Whisky drinker, but these chips impart a wonderful flavor into anything you grill. I purchased the gas grill smoker unit Charcoal Companion Large Nonstick V-Shaped Smoker Box for Gas Grillsand it sure works terrific with these chips. You only need a few to get a good smoke going. You will want to just stand there and smell! The chicken was the best ever, and so was the salmon. Plain hickory is great, but these add an exceptional dimension to anything you cook. Try bread on the grill with these chips why don't ya! Use the mesh roaster Mr Bar B Q 06805X Stainless Steel Mesh Roasting Pan for home made bread, (indirect heat, and Whiskey smoke chips), or purchase store bread. Whoa! Grill garlic bread with whisky/hickory smoke flavor. You'll never go back to plain.

While soaking, it smells good like whiskey. Beyond soaking, it smokes well and gives meat a slight oak smoke flavor. No whiskey flavoring at all. Depending on temperature, 2 to 3 handfulls will smoke for an hour. Beyond that, the whiskey part is in my opinion just a gimmick.
