Year #5 for my Big Block smoker still works awesome and is larger than I will ever need was able to smoke 15 racks of baby backs for a party fit 5 full size (15lb.+) briskets and I did 9 large chickens for a golf outing huge cast iron wood box and oversize water pan grease management system is superb.

I added a heat-proof gasket to the door and an adjustable De-Sta-Co latch that really improved the overall performance of the unit.

Bought this item based on friend's recommendations3 of them own this product and have had luck with it for years.

Couple issuesthe magnetic hold-close devices don't work, added a mechanical latch to keep mine closed and did the trick. Have had the regulator apart twice for stuff (sand castings) getting into the orifice.

However, easy to keep constant temperature (within 15-20), however a little difficult to keep down to 150 for fish (generally, I crank it to high, get wood chucks, not chips, to almost flame burning, then throw the fish in, gas off, and shut the door)

This item was on back order when I placed my order. Within a reasonable time I received notice that it was on its way. When it arrived I unpacked it to find that it did not have any paperwork, parts list, assembly instructions. Many of the parts bags are lettered and I was missing 2 letters so I assume 2 bags of parts. I contacted Amazon and the only solution they could provide was to offer to send me an entire new smoker. Then I was to unpack the new smoker and remove the items I needed, repack the smoker and ship it back to Amazon. The problem is that this is a very large, heavy item that is not packed in a way that you can remove it from its box without destroying the box. As I explained to the customer service person, I do not think I can unpack and repack this item for shipping. The original box was destroyed. This was the only solution they could provide. I was promised a call back from a customer service supervisor but that never happened. I was disconnected twice, once after a 20 minute wait on hold while waiting for a supervisor.

I searched for the company on the Internet and contacted them directly. They responded quickly and said they would send what I needed. That was three weeks ago and I have not heard from them again. Amazon does not seem to know how to handle problems like this. The solution of returning an item for a replacement works great for books or small items that are easy to repack. However, this is unacceptable for a 100 pound items the size of a three drawer file cabinet. I will update this review if the problem is ever resolved.

This is a fantastic smoker. It was easy to finish assembling and very easy to use. There is plenty of room inside for smoking several things at one time. This is the third smoker we've had and by far my favorite. Unless you are smoking vast quantities of meat, it is the perfect size. We've had ribs, roasts, and veggies cooking all at the same time with space left over. It's easy to clean too. We keep ours covered to extend the life of it as is stays on the deck all year (we use it all winter).
