Although I have been a staunch Weber supporter for many years, I made a mistake and walked away from what I know and loved in search for "bigger and better". What a mistake that was. Although it looked good out of the box, it didn't last long and after two years never did figure out how to really cook with it. So I came back to my Summit series 470. I does everything that you could possibly need from 4 powerful burners that produce more than enough heat and nice clean flames, to a sear burner, a built in rotisserie, a built in smoker, a built in tank full/empty indicators, storage space for the rotisserie parts when not in use, and all the more normal mundane stove top burner and warrming tray as well as good workspace. Most importantly, everything works under your control and I am now the master chef of the neighborhood again. Couldn't be happier.

If grilling is important to you, and you can afford the price tag, this is the grill for you.

I have had a Weber gas grill for close to 15 years so when it started looking old and the gas flow decreased I decided it was time for a new grill. There are a lot of Weber Grills to chose from but I choose the Weber Summit E-470 for the following reasons. 1. The Summit series puts me into the heavier professional grade models (Since my first Weber lasted 15 years I could justify the expense). 2. I wanted the Searing Station as I like to sear the meats and then pull it off medium rare which you can not do if the heat isn't high. 3. It is slightly larger than my older grill which allows me to cook foods at the same time at different temperatures which is important.

I am in love with this grill, it is sturdy and as an Engineer I greatly appreciate the Engineering of the features and the quality of the product. I think the lights on the handles are a nice touch. Today I tried the Rotisserie and cooked 2 chickens perfectly. My daughter and I were really surprised at the wonderful smoked flavor the chicken had by adding Cherry Wood to the smoker box. I am looking forward to the time I have a party and really put this monster to use as I plan on doing 3 simultaneous rotisserie chickens before everyone arrives and then put on steaks and roasted vegetables before we eat!

The product shipped as promised and the guy from the truck used a dolly to move the box to the place near where I set it up. It was very easy to set up and only took about 1 hour to unpack and assemble the sides and other components.

I purchased the cover since I plan to maintain it and am happy with the Weber 6448 Style Heavy-Duty Grill Brush since I trashed so many cheap ones.

Loving it !!

Finally bit the bullet and bought a Weber Gas grill. Overall totally impressed with this grill and the features, such as smoker/burner, Sear burner and the cool pop up rotisserie motor, heavy stainless steel grates, lighted dials etc. Heats up very quickly, starts easy, good fit and finish all around. Assembly was minimal and intstructions were fine. BUT, was somewhat disappointed that the lid construction is not the solid cast steel as on the smaller "Genesis" model. This model lid appears to have two layers of formed sheet metal with the porcelain coating on the exterior. When the temp heats up and contracts, this lid actually makes poping sounds, not a big deal, but, for the $$ I expected the solid heavy lid construction.

I've had this grill for a month or so and I'm learning new ways of grilling. For the past 20+ years I've cooked on a Holland Grill which is mostly a 400 degree oven (if the weather isn't too cold).

It's wonderful to never have to worry about when LP gas tanks are going to need to be filled or swapped. Natural gas is the way to go in that respect.

The grill preheats very rapidly and even without turning on the searing station it easily gets hot enough to put those nice looking grill marks on the meat. I've found that once the meat is seared, I will shut off the center two burners and idle the two outside burners to medium. That way I can take full advantage of the smoker box. That feature was another big selling point with me. I've found that chunks of water soaked mesquite or hickory will make some excellent smoke. And, it lasts long enough to make a difference. I made some excellent fajita chicken breasts recently that had everyone making comments about how good it was with the smokey flavor. Steaks, chops, roast chicken, burgers, dogs, etc. You can cook it all on this grill and never have to wonder if there will be enough heat. With the Holland... that was always a problem. I'm thinking I will be able to grill all winter on this one!

Anyway... I'm glad I bought it. And, as sturdily made as it is... I should have it for a lot of years.

My first Weber gas grill and so far I love it. I have cooked burgers, rotisserie chick, rotisserie pork loin, London broil, and oysters. No flare ups on anything so far. No comparison to my old Brinkman Pro-Series 2500 which poured out smoke and had terrible flare ups. The ease of cooking on this grill compared to my old one is incredible. I am grilling like I was never able to before.

My only complaints so far is that the rotisserie motor quit after one use. I could hear a "hummmm" but the gears were not turning. I was afraid to go into it to investigate the problem, so I called Weber and they quickly sent me out another unit. After getting my replacement I took off the cover, turned the gears a little with my fingers, plugged it back in and it started working again. I have not tried using it again so I don't know if it will continue to work once a load is put on it. My other complaint is that the infrared burner is difficult to light. I have had to use a match on two occasions but was able to light it normally the 3rd time.

I do wish there was an option to remove the smoker box and add an additional or larger grate for more cooking surface. I called Weber about this and they do not offer a kit. It seems, however, that it would be a nice option for people who don't use the smoker box very often.

Assembly was fairly easy with just a few simple hand tools. The grill is quite heavy so you should assemble it in the area you plan to use it. You will need a few extra hands to lift it up from the base it ships in while another person removes the base.
