I ordered one of these cast iron grills to replace the regular thin steel grill that comes standard with every Weber charcoal barbeque. Man, what an extreme difference in grilling. I wish now that I had purchased one of these cast iron grills years ago. It essentially comes with the ability to use it on an 18" or 22" grill. Just get the cast iron grill really hot at the same time while the coals are getting hot enough to cook with and you're in business. Then just flip your filets once or twice, turning them about 45 degrees each time you flip them and you'll think you just ordered your steaks from the finest steak house in town. You will NEVER achieve the same grill marks on your steaks when using a standard steel wire grill. The flavor of your steak is even much more improved when cooking on a cast iron grill. This grill is extremely highly recommended. 5 STARS all the way!!

The inside grate arrived broken so I had to return. I did not exchange because it appeared that the grates were poorly made and very thin. They just are not making cast iron grates the way they used to.

If you own a Weber Performer Platinum Charcoal Grill and if you are wondering if this product would fit....It fits perfectly!! Weber doesn't make a cast iron crate for this grill so I had to look for aftermarket ones.

For users who are not familiar with cast iron crates, they retain heat a lot better than stainless steel. It is also low maintenance in many ways...I usually just get the flame started to cook off all the crap on it and use a steal brush to clean it off. As long as there some residual oil/grease on the cast iron, it will not rust.

For $30...you can't go wrong.

I put this on my weber 22.5" grill and it works great. It holds the heat much better than the stainless steel wire version. It gives great grill marks to food. The center lifts out to add coals or wood.
